For maximum cliche she doesn't realize that Ranma is actually her childhood first love until a few months after he reappears in her life, so they're entrenched in unhealthy antagonism.

So she tries to "reset" their relationship despite also being totally malfunctional, like she purposely doses herself with love potion, and she tries to flatter him, and it kinda works but it's also kind of off -- "Ranma! I am going to follow you around and take your picture and give you so much attention!"

Like that, shenanigans.
Good god, Yandere Nabiki ?

Yandere!Nabiki might have been the idea I was toying with....

Because we've not seen it before.

I can't see a story like that working. It seems like you'd have to break her too thoroughly to get it to "work", and what you were left with would be effectively an original character, not anything remotely resembling what you started with.

But hell, what do I know? And what does it matter?

Yandere ... as in to get physically violent DOES break Nabiki. But if you do it from the shadows? Brrr... it would be in character, terrible and frightening!

For a slightly different take on Yandere!Nabiki

Mrs Tendo (shortly before her death) and Nabiki run into Genma and Ranma during the training trip for a brief afternoon.

The two have fun as kids in the park/mall/temple, Mrs Tendo mentions that Ranma could be Nabiki's husband one day after a childish comment.

Mrs Tendo dies tragically very soon after, and Nabiki desperately grabs onto the idea that Ranma is quite literally the last thing her mother will ever be able to give her.

Ranma Saotome is HERS!

As for the money, well Nabiki's got expensive tastes

The only problem I can see with this is that Pokegirls T.I.T.S. over on AA did something like this with Ranma and Nabiki realizing they'd dates several years earlier and forgot about it until now, not sure if you'd still want to go ahead with this

Why the fuck would anything written at that dungheap matter in any context?

It had some decent stories there among the muck... For Ranma stories I always wanted to see continued for example:

New Gods
No Tendo
Travelers Return
Setsuna's Fault -Wonder About Zero
Ranma Saturn Jurai
Dark Lord Ranma
The Good Life

There was a few others, like that one Ikkitousan cross, and that one Gold Digger one.

If you're worried about being original, the fuck you doing writing fanfiction in the first place?

Make your own characters and setting.

I've decided to necro this thread with the barest of bones for an idea that I'm toying with.

I'm thinking that Kodachi doesn't get enough attention, and mainly because I've found an artist on Twitter who likes Kodachi, I'm thinking of writing a Ranma/Kodachi story.

It's something that I literally ground out today, but I might look into writing more over the coming days/weeks if there's enough positive feedback/I get enough ideas for this one.

@@@@@

Kodachi Kuno was shifted in the bathtub, allowing the hot water to relax her muscles after the day’s match against Furinkan. Her loss had been quite the surprise.

Akane Tendo had been the one to face her, but apparently an injury in training ruled her out of the competition. A shame, as it would have been entertaining to see the object of her brother’s obsession defeated like all the others.

Instead, the Furinkan champion had been this redheaded girl. Sure, there was a rustic charm to the girl, but aside from her bust, what did she have to offer someone like Ranma Saotome?

“Ranma-sama,” she sighed softly. Thinking of Ranma Saotome always made her feel warm inside, but the martial artist that had saved her from falling off the Tendo roof was almost as much of a mystery as that redheaded girl.

Kodachi knew that Ranma was handsome, skilled in martial arts and a thorn in the side of her idiot brother, but aside from that, there wasn’t much she knew about him. She needed more information.

‘Sasuke might know something,’ she reasoned before stepping out of the bath and reaching for a towel.

@@@@@

A short while later Sasuke was kneeling before Kodachi.

“What can I do for you, Mistress Kodachi?” the diminutive ninja asked, his head bowed respectfully.

“I have a request, Sasuke. I need to know more about Ranma Saotome,” Kodachi replied. “I know that he’s a martial artist and is a relatively recent arrival in Nerima, but other than that, I know very little about the man.”

Sasuke nodded. He’d already done some of this research for Tatewaki Kuno. With a little luck, he’d be able to remember enough of it to save him from having to do some extra work.

“He is staying at the Tendo Dojo,” the ninja started. He braced himself for the backlash, half expecting Kodachi to erupt in a fury similar to that of Tatewaki. When there was no outburst, he continued with his report. “It would appear that his father is the old training partner of Soun Tendo, and they decided to unite their branches of the Anything Goes schools through the marriage of their respective heirs. That’s why he’s engaged to Akane Tendo.”

Kodachi nodded. It made sense that a traditional samurai family like the Tendos to arrange a marriage, especially if it would allow for the continuation of their family style of martial arts. It would also allow them to keep their property in the family as part of a dowry.

“And what of the redheaded girl that was at the match today?”

“I am not entirely sure, Mistress Kodachi,” Sasuke admitted. “She sometimes goes by the name Ranma Saotome, but there’s no record of her at Furinkan. Your brother believes that Ranma is holding her under some kind of spell.”

“My brother is an idiot,” the gymnast contemptuously replied on reflex. She reached for her tea and took a sip as she digested her servant’s report.

Kodachi was of noble standing, rich and powerful, yet Ranma appeared to spurn her advances. Perhaps it was because of this arranged marriage that he acted to coldly towards her? It wasn’t easy to take, but it showed that he had a sense of honour. Even if his eye wanted to wander, he had the control keep himself faithful to even the most ill-tempered girl.

To display such loyalty for an arranged marriage to someone who treated him so poorly was the hallmark of a man amongst men.

‘Or he’s an idiot who doesn’t know any better,’ a tiny voice in Kodachi’s head countered.

But that couldn’t be the case. How could someone like Ranma be so starved of affection that he would latch onto the first girl he met? Evidently the key to winning Ranma’s heart would require befriending him before seducing him. But how to win his friendship when they went to different schools?

St. Hebereke was a school that required much higher grades than Furinkan just to get to the interview process. Even if Ranma’s grades were good enough to get into St. Hebereke, he couldn’t attend by virtue of it being an all-girls’ school. It would be a waste of her academic abilities to transfer to a lower ranked school. Not to mention that it would result in her having to be near her idiot brother for most of the day.

No, it would be best for her to remain at her current school.

If only to prevent her from disgracing herself by being caught with Ranma on the roof like a pair of delinquents in a tawdry love story.

‘Though, would it be so bad to have Ranma run his strong hands over my body?’ Kodachi asked herself for the countless time since she’d encountered the young man.

“No” was the answer. As it had been every time she’d asked herself that question.

But was it right to risk her future for love by going to a different school?

“Wait, different schools…” the gymnast muttered, the solution coming to her. “The arranged marriage is between the Tendo and Saotome heirs, is it not?”

“It is, Mistress Kodachi,” Sasuke nodded.

“Then I will join the Tendo School of Anything Goes,” Kodachi stated with a gleam in her eyes. “I will become the best choice for Ranma Saotome!”

It's entirely possible that this will run out of steam by the time I go to bed tonight, but it's also possible that this will have some smutty content.

I'm not against the concept, Raa, but Kodachi has always been a harder sell than most of the other females in Nerima.

I actually think her more sane and more well rounded than Akane... Though hardly sane, just more sane...

Here is an old quote of mine on some views of her:
CHARACTER - KODACHI

Fannon would believe there is nothing to be had here more than a crazy obsessed individual after Ranma. Partially true.

She is shown to have other interests. She goes to a all girls private school and is in sports. That implies decent to good grades. That is likely an underestimate, considering we've seen her deal with fine foods, cookies, gardening, genetic engineering, poisons and home made chemical compounds, and weaponry.

She is shown she loves her father, and hates her brother. And loves her pet 'Mr. Green Turtle' Midorigame.

I've long held Kodachi, not Akane or Kuno, was the best balanced (ability and skill wise, not mentally) martial artist native to Nerima as of her into in the series. There is a lot of evidence to back it up if one thinks on the abilities and skills and compares them to Akane.

Regrettably is blind to the concept of the curse, as otherwise except to paralyze him, Kodachi never really does much violence against male form Ranma, yet is obsessed with the pigtailed harlot. Which is hilarious, as her and her brother are often shown in Sailor Moon and Oh My Goddess crossovers as being able to see through disguise fields.

A pity she is used so little in fan fiction as a match, I would not mind seeing more.
Lord Raa has actually attempted a couple times a Ranma and Kodachi matchup in different forms (Even a Ranma/Kodachi/Kasumi one in 2009 and a Ranma/Kodachi Tenchi crossover in 2007, and gave her mother and Nodoka a interesting background for Nodoka helping her in another story), but he has each time set it aside for other projects.

I can buy Kodachi being a more well-rounded fighter than the other Nerima natives - though I'd like to remind you that those only include Soun, Akane and Tatewaki himself. Everyone else isn't from Nerima.

I can also accept that Kodachi has probably been the least violent towards Ranma - except I'd like to remind you that she was trying to poison Akane and later Ranma-chan. The lethality of poison is always in the dosage, so exactly how much you'd get from one of her gymnastics tools is hard to say.

Her mental stability is the problem I have with her - it's fair to say that of the female characters that appear in Ranma 1/2, Kodachi is #1 on the list of "would commit murder to get their way" (with Shampoo a close second). That's not a ringing endorsement.

It's true that she's probably the least likely to injure Ranma, but I'm not sure whether she or Cologne is more cavalier with the drugging thing.

I've always been hampered in Ranma 1/2 discussions because I only ever watched the dubbed anime - and only through the middle of season 5. Never saw the fight with Saffron or even the Musk. I did see both films and a few of the OVAs, but everything else I learned from reading fanfiction.

That's mostly because she's more obviously crazy than the other girls, I think.

I mean, she's rarely if ever shown as a sympathetic figure and most of the nicer stuff about her was ripped outta someone's hind end.

You give the other girls too much credit... except possibly Akane with Ukyo, and Ukyo with Akane, none of the girls really showed all that much love, sympathy, or even friendship with each other. None were really nice toward each other either.

Kodachi has little sympathy for the others chasing after Ranma... but the others are not really any better.

Nabiki's love of money is well known, but why does she sabotage everyone else's attempts to get with Ranma so much?

Either a few years earlier before the series or at some point during the series, Ranma saves Nabiki from a date who's getting too grabby after spending a lot of money on her.

Though she tells her self she couldn't be interested in someone with such low earnings potential, she starts to ponder life with Ranma.

Maybe after seeing him win a contest of skill with some bizarre martial arts technique, she starts to consider ways to make some real money.

Of course, Nabiki might end up displaying what could be described as "yandere" like tendencies to anyone who gets in her way of making money.
Might need to add a bit of Love Hina in there, with Nabiki only recalling a few things about the guy she liked. Might be why she wore the kimono to meet Ranma, but he didn't live up to the expectations she made over the years.
