Les Moonves is removed from CBS... while I'm sorry it was over abuse allegations, I'm positively thrilled he is gone... As one of the men responsible for the sad current state of Star Trek canon I'm feeling like playing the song 'Dancing in the Street' on single track repeat for a while....

That... that was just painful to watch. Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if that idiot never went through a firearms safety course.

I'm impressed with the guard's handling of that situation. But, as someone who doesn't regularly handle firearms, would that action be alright if the gun wasn't loaded? Or as a matter of safety, it's a stern no-no ?

That sort of action is never acceptable. Ever.

Agree with Shirotsume, the simple logic here is if his smartphone needed so much of his attention, no matter what was being done with it, that he was pointing the gun w/o looking at what he was pointing at, he needed to put it down... This is non-negotiable... This is irregardless of whether it was loaded or not. What was done was unacceptable, and I heartily agree with the person and what was done. it was not a combat situation, he could have easily put it down for the moment and had he done so it would not thave caused him and the other guy to be restrained and ejected as they were.

Completely agree. That shit is something you just don't do. That guard was right on top of it. Good job, guy.

I've been to the range a few times, and have heard stories...for example, idiots (despite the rules of the range being clear on this) come in with their gun loaded, with a round in the chamber and will then slam said firearm down on the front desk, where it's to be inspected by the Range's personnel with the barrel pointed at said personnel.

Anyways for those of you who have not been to the range, here's a couple of basic rules

After reading everyone's replies, in hind sight, I asked a stupid question. The risk isn't worth it.

While most gun safety is common sense, there are still elements of "if you didn't know, you wouldn't know".

And since we're giving out advice, here is another piece of advice that I think we should all follow:

Sad but true... But i have say, both drivers are equally idiots.

In regards to guns...

If you do not live in a country that readily allows access to them, or you have never had training on them, why would you know proper care and handling. Certainly not from movies, where we get to see just about every bad cliche ever in regards to handling and use.

In regards to tickets...

In the states, there is some movement in recent years to make texting and cellphone use be considered something more serious than a simple minor ticket being issued.

Even if the state you live in may consider it a minor, the insurance company you have may not. By doing so, it more heavily impacts your insurance rates.

A question like this is never stupid.

The simple answer is this: You treat every firearm as if it is loaded at all times. No exceptions.

You'll hear this at every range, and it's ingrained into the brain of every responsible firearms owner. This is the first thing they tell you in any firearms safety course.

That way you never have to deal with the consequences of forgetting a round is chambered, and it just forms good habits for handling firearms and prevents stupid accidents from happening.

It also keeps you from getting shot by other people trying to protect themselves from an idiot "messing around" with an empty gun. You might know that a firearm isn't loaded, but that doesn't mean anyone else does.

It's not stupid, because a lot of people don't even understand the extent of the 'standard rules' for guns.

You treat every weapon like it's loaded? Yes. ALWAYS. Even if you've checked it yourself.

Why? Because guns can have rounds in weird places in them. You can have the magazine completely out, sitting on the table in front of you... and there can still be a round chambered.

A gun is always loaded.

Ever wonder why people like Pro Wrestling. This is the best explanation I've ever seen for it...

Apparently, Charlie Brown cartoon labelled racist over depiction of Thanksgiving dinner.

Morons...

That sounds bad. In fact the whole 'racist' branding has become the very thing it was trying to stop. The behavior disgusts me.

My understanding was Charles Shultz was attempting to combat racism in Charlie Brown by fighting the publishers to get the Franklin character put in at all...

The extremes of the politically correct over the years IMHO really should not be in kids shows like this... even Sesaame Street has had its fights.... season 1 is actually listed as adults and Bert and Ernie have been in some corners labeled as gay...
