Minor humorous note... since it had been some 2+ months since last had it done, and the barbers in my area are all closed... I cut my own hair for the first time ever, and with no supervision...

Surprisingly, not too bad... my electric hair clippers, which I normally only use for my face, came with a few attachments for cutting and touching up hair, I just never used them.

I used the longest attachment on the top, the middle on the back, and the shortest on the sides.... came out decent, but not perfect, according to my closest relative I had available to look at it. It is a little thinner in three small spots in the back, and slightly thin up top (the top being thin was actually deliberate). Though she said but the ones in back will grow back fairly quick as tey were not too noticable.

Since we are still in lock down in Ohio, and no clue for sure when barbers will reopen, felt had to be done.

I feel you. I tried cutting my own hair once, didn't work so well. These days, I generally wait until it gets too long for my loking and then just shave it all off.

Currently rocking some very short hair atm.

I, too, have had to cut my own hair. For better or worse, my tonsorial options are short and shorter, so unlike people who have a particular hair cut, I can sort myself out with my clippers.

That said, I might break out a razor and shave the scalp. It's a pain, and can my my arms tired, but I find the feeling of smooth scalp quite refreshing.

I'm just happy I decided to do away with hair and just shave it, the only problem with doing this is that you have to shave your head every few days.

Can confirm that you do need to keep shaving the scalp regularly once you start.

That said, it's a great way to deal with a bad haircut. Literally wiping the slate clean.

Also a way to deal with early bald spots, why have bald spots when you can go full bald.

Well, like said, I can live with less than perfect results for a haircut (saves me the cost of a haircut, assuming I could have had one, which I can't), though I'd probably never fully shave my head unless I had a need to get rid of it for some medical reason. Now that I've cut it once, I've a better handle on how it should have gone. Besides, with the stay at home orders in place, very few people indeed are going to be seeing me in the next few weeks to care about a little thing like that...

Ohio is tentatively due to lift its stay at home restrictions around May 1st-4th, but there are indications that it will continue past that, our govoner was one of the first in the U.S. to institute it at the state level, and has been far more accepting of the CDC and WHO guidelines than many other states in the U.S. I have internet, TV, DVD/Blurays, and plenty of both books and downloaded reading material. I'm fully stocked on most items be they bulk, refrigerated, or frozen. And all the bills have been paid up. In general I'm better off than a lot of other people during this crisis.

Even if stay at home orders are lifted by the state, as a programmer/content analyst I can work just fine from home until my own company management decides to end the work from home environment they set all employees up for across the country... Basically, I'm fine working from home, and as long as I have the option from them, and I'm fully content to do so. It saves on gas, saves on travel time each day, saves on pollution, and I can sleep slightly later and still log in earlier, and is far less exposure to people and virus...

I once tried to cut a bit of my hair with scissors when I was ~10 years old or so. The results were bad enough, that I've never re-attempted it. A few days ago, my hair had grown to the point where I did need it cut, but there weren't any barbers or saloons open nearby. :( Asked my wife to do it. The line of thinking was that if she didn't like the result, she couldn't blame me. :D We used the razer I usually use to shave off my beard ( don't like growing one). End result ... meh. Not too bad, not too good. It works for my purposes. My head has less hair and that makes me satisfied.

Well, you know how my media drive died on me? Well, I got a new one today. Was setting it up, or trying to, and my OS drive died on me.

Not had a good day with the computer, as you can imagine.

So, I've decided to purchase some newer hardware. Sure, it's a refurb, but it's got Windows 10, an SSD and 8gb of RAM and it only cost me £139. I'm not into gaming that much, so I'm not fussed about getting something water-cooled that could calculate the orbital trajectories of a dozen rockets at once.

Will still keep this old thing for emergencies. Until I have a good tidy up, at least.

Good news is that I seem to have my new PC doing what I want at the moment, and now I just need to personalise things. Which could take the rest of Spring to complete as I come to things that I haven't touched for a while but instantly know are wrong.

One of the worst feelings ever has to be waking up during the night and thinking you have a few more hours to sleep, then looking at your clock and seeing your alarm goes off in five minutes

Tip: I keep a master spreadsheet with every setting change for every program and OS installed... By doing that, I can bring a computer with an empty hard drive up to full configuration in under a day. And if needed I adjust it as needed for each install so I know going forward what I did. It also insures consistency between systems...

So, in less than a week, I've managed to write 11,000 words for some Love Hina smut.

It'll be a one-shot and it's not my usual thing. In fact, it's worse than the usual degeneracy I crap out.

I'm only mentioning it here as I've found that if I have a grey page colour in the word processor and I use Trebuchet MS as the font, I can get some good progress in fics.

So they launched a rocket with people in it for the first time in a long while from here in Florida yesterday, while a good chunk of places are going absolutely batshit insane with looting and rioting.

Also in other news I’m still not better with my leg. I had an MRI Friday to see what other damage was done in the attack since I can still barely walk on it.

Ditto. Best of luck with your leg, rukia.

Beware of Dog. Cat not trustworthy either.
Hope the results aren't bad, Rukia. Have they gotten you some physical therapy yet? Sometimes it takes working into using it after a bad injury.

Finally got myself upgraded to a faster internet... Was a pain with my previous provider because Windstream kept cancelling the appointments. After 4 cancellations on their part, swtched to WOW, they came in and out on 1st appointment, and only took hour and a half, even with laying new line.

I spent 3 months in rehab doing therapy daily, had a 4th surgery in January to remove the hardware and been having therapy 4 times a week since I got out of the rehab in November.

Holy crap. That bad for that long? You have my fervent hope they can figure it out soon for you.

Sweet!
I had to leave my old DSL provider 5 years ago because they steadfastly refused to upgrade any infrastructure in the community. From what I can tell, they're actually taking steps backwards as their max speeds for our neighborhood are now lower than when I left. I just wish there were more than two options available: rape the pocketbook expensive cable or crap service (in every way) with moderately high price DSL.

Wheee! I'm back online after two and a half days of outage! Might have to change my ISP, too. Why is it that the routers they suppy are garbage?

...Cost efficiency? (As in, they don't give a shit if the modem-router is garbage if it will save them money.)
