I remember seeing this. Gaming addiction is a problem, as with any kind of addiction - excess amounts of anything is bad. But to legislate a country-wide specific timeslot? That's just ... overkill, IMO. I could speculate that this has an element of internal Chinese politics, but to be fair, I don't know the ground situation and am just talking out of my rear end.

Result of the Epic vs Apple lawsuit

Essentially, both companies got somewhat defanged. Epic still has to pay a significant fine for breach of contract, while Apple can no longer force game devs to use the in-app payment platform with 30% commission

I think it's worse for Apple. Sure, the ruling may say game devs - but that just opens the floodgate for anyone who wants to use a 3rd party payment system to "gamify" whatever it is they are doing. Think about it - if Netflix added achievements to their app, who can argue that its *not* a game? Or heck, even a health app which gives you badges for staying healthy.

Do we know what the reasoning is, for Apple's loss? i.e. what the justification is for the court to say that they can't enforce the only-use-our-payment-system?

Per a GeForce leak, there might be an FFIX remake, and Chrono Cross and FFTactics reMaster happening
I would like to see some of those remade, but according to that link - take the information with a heavy dose of skepticism. The fact that they had an unofficial emulator on the list feels like an indication that someone at GeForceNow was doing something they'd hoped no-one would find out about.

I've bought the switch version of FF9. It's a nice game, but there are no modern upgrades. There are a few, but they feel more like someone hacking things in an emulator than an actual game release. Heck, I remember reading a news story that Square Enix no longer has the gold copy of the original Playstation release! This is the disc copy which is used for mass manufacturing.

It will be nice if they made an effort to actually remake both FF9 and Chrono Cross, but I"m not holding my breadth.

Some good PS4 news - the CMOS replacement issue has been fixed with version 9.0 !

I'm very happy to hear this. It means that I won't have to mod my PS4 with custom firmware. Yay! At the moment, its running some 8.x version of the system firmware. That update came when I bought "Tales of Arise". For now, I'll keep my system offline - chances are some future game with the needed update will come round (I'm not interested in connecting the PS4 to the internet).

Personally, I'm beyond irritated that the Knights of the Old Republic Remaster is going to be Playstation Exclusive- at least for now. I bought my X-Box Original solely so I could play that game. Fable, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect and Dragon Age had me coming back to X-Box.

Hopefully, the same won't be said for the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster. It was one of my favorite games on the PS1 and one of the few games I bought on mobile. When Square-Enix started releasing the remasters in 2019/20 of FF7 through X-2, I was disappointed not to see Tactics not making it's current gen console debut. Should Tactics come to X-Box, I'm hoping that they'll allow players to toggle between the original release names and the War of the Lions names (primarily, because I prefer the original release names).

It looks like there is one confirmed remaster of a Square-Enix owned property: that semi-classic SNES platformer/city building hybrid, ActRaiser. And it's out now

If Squeenix is going to dig deep into the library of things they own, I hope they do something with Ogre Battle or Secret of Evermore.

The final Smash challenger will be Sora (as in, Kingdom Hearts)

I was wondering who made the cut. I'd seen a number of articles recently about how some fans were disappointed that Goku from Dragon Ball wasn't the final character, but I don't play Smash Brothers, so I wasn't interested enough to actually see who'd been picked.

A Grand Theft Auto release that isn't a re-release of GTAV! In other words, it's a trilogy remaster of III, Vice City, and San Andreas! What, were you expecting a new new GTA?

Grand Theft Auto Definitive Trilogy news release

Supposed to be overhauled graphically as well as with the gameplay mechanics. It's also coming to Switch, which I think may make this the first GTA game on a Nintendo home console? (There were a couple of handheld releases, but nothing on console I believe)
