Partways through shutdown grind. I had to run the numbers. 222 hours of pay equivalent in the previous two weeks (not hours worked, but hours equivalent thanks to OT). Still have another 10 days in a row after one day off. No wonder I've barely posted this month!

Yeah, the internet is forever. Though in oTFF's case, now it's a tapatalk forum :p

Anyways, welcome back! Hope you stick around!

Well... it has been about 40 years.
I know he did it for a truly stupid reason (hoping a star would pay attention to him or something) but I have to wonder how different a country this would be if he had succeeded and the Reagan worshiping hadn't had time to take root.

I was too young to vote for it, but I had in 84 wanted Mondale to win, but having said that I actually for a good part of my life was a bit more republican than democrat in most views, though I never agreed with them on either abortion or gun control... but that party has been dead since even before Trump... Now, there are only a handful of republicans in the entire country on the state/federal level I would vote for, if I could. Most of that list these days are more considered the outliers than main members anymore and a couple of them the party is actually trying to get rid of. Not all but a bulk of the actual elected officials have devolved into a cult of wackos.

4 shifts left in the next 5 days in my OT grind. I can finally see the ending!

It's Saint Patrick's Day. Is this why the apartment across the hall is blasting "Mister Brightside" on repeat? At 1 A.M.?! :(
So the apartment across the hall is at it again. This time, they're going through a playlist that's making me depressingly nostalgic. 3 Doors Down, Avril Lavigne, The Calling, Blink-182...egads, has it really been so long since the 2000s?

Puddle of Mudd- Blurry
Train- Drops of Jupiter
Lenny Kravitz- Fly Away
Goo Goo Dolls- Iris

Welcome back. The 2000s missed you. We have those fun twisty puffed Cheetos and memories.

Early 90s songs depressingly remind me of just how many decades it's been since my college years and carefree days...

I prefer either late 80's songs (mostly what used to be called light rock: Madonna, Laura Brannigan, Belinda Carlisle, Paula Abdule, Roxette, etc...), or 60's songs (pop rock: Everly Brothers, Beach Boys, Rip Cords, etc...) myself... the former my own high school years, the latter my moms high school years... the 70's and early 80's with the more beatnic years and the disco and hard rock never really appealed to me.

Finally finished my grind! I have one OT shift left tomorrow night, but after that it's all rest and relax as I return to a normal work schedule. But the OT cash will be forever

I had a good laugh... I just started seeing articles explaining how horrible that Facebook was down 5 hours yesterday, and how it affected the world. Snd how it showed the world just how much the world relies on both social media in general and the app of one company in particular.

The funny thing was, I had not even known about it until seeing these articles. Am I one of the few people in the world without a Facebook account? Well.. besides Donald Trump :)

I don't have one either. Or Twitter.
If not for a friend of mine making a passing comment I wouldn't have known it went down.

I don't have or keep track of any social media, unless forum accounts count. The only reason I knew Facebook, Instagram, et. al were down was the evening news.

I do have a Facebook account, but I only use it a few times a week. Not often enough that I would have even noticed it was down if not for all the news going on about it.

On a separate note, for the first time in my life I'm getting absolutely bombarded with recruiting emails. Three separate recruiters in the last two days, and I'm almost expecting my old workplace to try and get me back since they're short people in a 24/7 coverage spot

I have a Facebook account and am on it fairly regularly- mostly for memes, but also for third party news as the MSM is about as reliable as a town drunk holding a steady job. That is to say, not at all. I didn't notice the downtime on the account I work graveyard shifts and was asleep the entire time it was down.

Speaking of jobs, I keep getting recruitment offers from a temp agency who wants me to work for them, working at the place I am currently working at. The last e-mail I got from them was a generalized letter telling me I should leave my "dead end job" and go through them to start a career there. I'm loving the irony of it all.

That is funny/ironical! :D

About facebook - I think I have an account with them, at least there's an entry in my password manager, but it hasn't been used for a *very* long time. The news was how I came to know the site was down.

I once got a call from a temp agency stating they had just gotten my application he was reviewing it and thought I would be good for a job they had... the problem was, at that time I had indeed applied to that agency... I had applied 6 years ago from when they were calling me...

I just put my resume on Indeed and I got swamped with job offers. The company I work for now was the first to respond and even gave me a sign on bonus. The temp agency didn't start e-mailing me until I had been working my current job for about a month and a half.
