General RWBY Ideas

Except he knows about Aura, and Pyrrha Nikos is his idol.
No offense, but this really doesn't seem all that interesting of an idea. Red Monster and Blue Magic sound like they could be more interesting, but more details would be required.

Yeah, it was a bit of an overgeneralization.

Sorry if what I'm writing seems like ramblings, I'm not very good at putting my thoughts into words and some of these are errant plot threads/ideas running through my head.

But the basic idea is that I wanna write a story about Jaune becoming a huntsman. With my own little twists in the story.

In this story, Jaune inspired by the stories of his grandfather and family wished to become a Huntsman. However, tragedy befell the Arc Family when his elder sister and Grandfather died in Patch fighting off a powerful Elder Grimm. The effect of her death was so bad enough that his mother and father decided to not allow him to become a huntsman.

However, he doesn't give up and manages to get his hands of some transcripts, fake'em, steal the family sword and some armor, and get into Beacon.

Because Ruby isn't here (she's off having her own adventure.) Instead, he meets Yang who he befriends quite easily, they don't meet Weiss, so he doesn't suddenly pine over her. Maybe a few lines about how she's beautiful though.

Since Ruby isn't here team RWBY doesn't form but instead.

Team JYPR(Jupiter)

and

Team SNWB(Snowbelt)

Team Jupiter consists of Jaune Arc as the leader, Yang, Pyrrha, and Ren. Team Snowbelt has the leader Weiss Schnee, Nora Valkyrie, Cardin Winchester, Blake Belladonna.

I was thinking he'd have Pyrrha Nikos as his idol cause I feel like Jaune would be the type of guy to try and find as many things about Huntsman he could find even with his mother and father forbidding it, so he'd find out about her.

If his grandfather was what his ideal Hero was and who he wanted to be, then Pyrrha represents the strength he wants, to be totally invincible. I think it would create a dichotomy between them. Jaune is weak but that weakness allows him to make real connections with people. Pyrrha is strong, but that strength pushes away people and has them put her on a pedestal.

And this dichotomy could also push them apart. Pyrrha wants to help Jaune, but his own pride and idolism of her pushes her away. While Jaune feels that if he can't be a leader by himself and needs help he isn't good enough to be a huntsman like his grandfather and won't reach Pyrrha's level.

It's possible that these negative feelings Jaune's developing may even turn into jealously of Pyrrha's strength.

Since there's no Ruby to give him advice on how to be a leader or Cardin pick on him the issue would fester till the Mt. Glenn arc. Where Ozpin allows both SNWB and JYPR to go to Mt. Glenn. Where he gets his ass thoroughly kicked.

Feeling utterly useless and his pride breaking he makes the utterly stupid decision to jump in front of the train. There's no miraculous power-up where he manages to push back and stop it, his semblance doesn't suddenly awaken. Instead, he hangs on the front of the train for dear life while thinking he'll die. Kinda like this scene from JJK.

Pyrrha manages to save him before his Aura runs out and he's crushed onto the tracks, however, in order to do so, she had to ignore the last explosive on the train, which causes the Breach. Jaune meanwhile is unconscious due to forcing his body and Aura that far.

He wakes up in a hospital and learns that while he was sleeping Team SNWB and YPR were fighting to close off the Breach. His pride broken, he realizes how useless he's been and decides to leave Beacon. However, Yang, Ren, Pyrrha, Ozpin, and even Team SNWB all pitch in to help Jaune and make him realize that while he's weak he still has good qualities and can become better and that he has the potential to be strong. Pyrrha especially reaches Jaune and he decides to finally accept help growing as a leader and person. While also sparking a beginning in their relationship (I'm an Arkos fan, so what?)

Think of it like Subaru Natsuki's arc in Re: Zero. He starts by thinking he's hot shit because he's an isekai protag, but then fucks up and finally gives up until Rem manages to bring him back with her speech.

Of course, Jaune isn't the only character that should get development.

Yang as you can see in the prologue is a bit different than in canon.

She doesn't live in Patch, she lives in Vale. Because Patch was destroyed by Grimm, who killed her aunt and forced her and her family to move. Because of this she has a grudge against Grimm and wants to become a Huntress so she can take back Patch. She too just like Jaune looks up to Pyrrha, but while Jaune sees her as an Idol, Yang sees her as a powerful Huntress and companion. Plus she too was once weak and knows about people trying to impede her dreams so she would empathize with Jaune.

Ren doesn't really have an arc until after Beacon so I might just have him as a Monk-like character, giving good advice and being understanding, while also just being a dependable dude.

Pyrrha doesn't have much of an arc either, so she'll probably be similar to canon. Since she's fine the way she is.

Team SNWB is important as well as JYPR's sister team (I would have their name be related to celestial phenomena like Jupiter but RWBY Team Generator isn't giving me any.)

Weiss becomes the leader of a team like she always wanted and expected but now learns that being leader is not sunshine and rainbows. As she has to deal with a hyperactive girl hopped on too much sugar that doesn't listen to her, and finds every chance she gets to leave the team to hang out with Ren and JYPR. A racist brute, and an anti-social girl who's either arguing with Cardin, arguing with her, or just having her head in a book.

Weiss's and Blake's arcs wouldn't have much change.

Weiss learns that she has to be understanding and not be such a stick in the mud all the time and that her view isn't always the right one though I might make it purposely incomplete until after Beacon when she goes back home and meets Whitley.

Blake would learn that it's alright to trust other people and that she could trust her team.

Cardin would learn that being racist is a bad thing and that he should stop.

Nora wouldn't really have much of an arc but she'll start sticking with the team once everyone finally starts becoming nicer to each other.

That's what I got for now.

I'm just wondering how I should do the Paladin fight arc.

Cause the fight at the docks is gonna SNWB's arc where everyone finally starts listening to each other.

Mt. Glenn's Jaune's arc.

Maybe I could have the Paladin fight shore up arcs and development for other characters? But I also don't wanna have bloat since 8 main characters are already hard enough to pace out and write.

EDIT: I forgot about Penny, what will I do with Penny?

PAIN.

EDIT 2: Also thinking of changing up orientation, by like adding the mountain busting nevermore from the manga.

Yeah, doesn't really appeal to me.

Not sure, I just know I probably wouldn't even finish reading the first chapter, if I even opened the story at all. There's honestly nothing about the idea I find appealing. It's also too similar to Jaune's canon arc about refusing other people's help.

Also, I just don't like Pyrrha, Yang, or Blake.

You're going to the trouble of creating an entirely new backstory, and yet, it's still just a super weak Jaune having to learn to rely on other people, exactly like cannon. Obviously, I'm biased against it because I don't like Pyrrha, but you're just sticking way too close to the plotline of the show despite such massive changes to the backstory.

The backstory is there to give an actual reason as to why his family didn't want him to become a Huntsman and to connect to the AU. (I'm pretty sure canon hasn't actually given him a backstory, then again Saphron exists, I'm not that far into RWBY yet.)

And the reason why Jaune is still the same weak Jaune. Is because I actually like canon Jaune or at least his arc. And I like stories about characters starting of weak but changing and bettering themselves. I already gave an example with Subaru Natsuki.

And sticking too close to the plotline of the show, yeah I can see why would say that. But I am thinking of putting things from outside the show into my fic, like manga arcs or games like Grimm Eclipse into the story.

And I was thinking of changing things up even further by adding elements of JJK, Fate, and HxH into the story I mean I even wrote a power system for the AU.

White Huntsman, Red Monster, and Blue Executor [RWBY] | SpaceBattles

Also why do you change your sig picture so many times?

I see the 'for want of a nail' plot change appears to be Patch having been taken over by Grimm.

Yang and Jaune's personalities seem reasonably well written within their start-of-series personalities, as well as Yang's introspection.

You wrote about Team Jupiter and Team Snowbird. I'd find it a little difficult to believe Nora and Ren would have been split up, as I would have expected Nora to tag Ren right away in the forest test. Would you be planning on them having gotten separated through sheer dumb luck, or altering the test or the pairing conditions so they do not end up on the same team?

Cardin and Blake together on the same team...that might cause enough friction to melt Weiss' frostiness, and not in a good way :p

Well that isn't the only change, just the one that's the most noticeable.

Thanks!

I mean there was an indeterminate amount of time before Nora found Ren. Plus depending on how you see the rules technically Yang should've been paired up with Ren cause he saw her flying in the sky. I was mostly going to have the orientation be the same with adding some stuff from the manga's. But yeah because dumb luck Yang find's Ren, Cardin finds Blake, Weiss finds Nora, the only pair that's gonna be the same would be Pyrrha's and Jaune's.

Cardin and Blake together on the same team...that might cause enough friction to melt Weiss' frostiness, and not in a good way :p
Weiss will be the stressed out overworked Boss because her coworkers won't get along or just disappear. :D

If you're looking for an example of a multi-Fic universe, I'm pretty sure somebody is doing one based on the MCU. Jaune was Spider-Man, and Whitley was Ironman. I think there might have also been an Ant-Man?

You mean the Invincible Whitley Schnee? Yeah, I've read it. No idea about an Ant-Man though.

To be fair, I think that was just a comment in a review of the Amazing Spider-Arc.

Alright let me split this into three parts.

General Backstory

So we know Salem was mulling about as a witch while the new humanity was getting civilization restarted. I was thinking that in this universe, she might try to teach people how to use Magic, if only because they approached her and asked. Unlike Ozpin who gave his magic around allowing them to use magic like him. She tried to see if she could mold Aura to be like magic. However, it didn't work. One problem with it was that it was like trying to get a goat to produce spider silk. The new humanity just didn't have the organs and power required to do it. Until mankind discovered Dust.

Magical crystals of Darkness that could be activated and controlled through the light of Aura. Through it, Salem was able to create a new form of Magic, Dustcraft.

Unlike the Magic she, Ozma, and the Maidens use. Wielding the power of darkness inside of them to create elemental phenomena and more. Dustcraft is using Aura to activate and control the magical energy in the dust.

Of course, there was another problem. Normal people couldn't see Magic or Dustcraft, even with Aura. Sure they could see and use dust. But once the energy in the dust is transformed into 'something similar to magic' it would disappear in the eyes of people.

(Think of it like how normal people can't see Nen or Curses in JJK and HxH.)

This is because when the Gods genocided humanity, Magical Beasts and those of similar kind took over the world. And when the Gods decided to try again with humanity, they created another layer of reality beneath the one humans exist on both figuratively and literally underground and booted all the magic there.

(Think of it like the Reverse Side Of The World in Fate.)

Dust is what forms of magic that manages to bypass the layer of reality. Of course, if magic can still escape, what else could?

Now while it's true that due to these layers between Magic and humans, humans can't normally see magic. However, by putting a person in a magically dense environment, or hitting them with magic. They're able to see past the Masquerade the Gods made. Thus allowing them to witness the old power humans used to wield.

And so Ozma came back and found Salem. And like in canon they built a kingdom and had the people worship them as Gods.

As knowledge of them and their kingdom spread, people of all walks of life would enter, including magical.

Mages from the old world that managed to survive the genocide with their magic intact who lived till that age would go, finding hope in that their art could be passed down.

They pledged allegiance to their King and Queen and turn their magic into Dustcraft passing it down to those they chose before they die.

The kingdom would soon turn into a nation and then a country, one of Aura and Magic, its height nearing the level of power the nations of the old world. Explorers would bring back old magical knowledge, and treasures that survived and bring them back to the nation.

They collected this power and knowledge of old and new into a Pillar, a Great Library, one that would grow higher as more and more knowledge was amassed.

Until tragedy strikes and the Black Goddess betrayed the Green God. She would plunder the Great Library and turn it to ash. She would kill any trace of the old world, including Magic.

Overnight, the great nation decayed into the plaything of a tyrant. Until it finally fell. With the Infinite Man at the helm, a resistance was created, though they were unable to save the nation itself, Salem's efforts to take the Relics and rule the world were stopped, and the people of the great nation, though unprotected as of now would be able to create a new and better nation in the future.

The families that practiced Dustcraft fled and removed themselves from society. Instead of creating a global secret society. Just like in the past, however, the Mages would soon centralize. creating the Mage's Association.

Of course, Salem wasn't gone for good, as an immortal, she survived, and grew her forces. Over the ages, Ozma and Salem would engage in a shadow war over the control of Remnant.

Until 15 years ago. On the Island known as Patch, Salem was finally defeated, for good. On the Island Salem sought to wake up a Great Elder Grimm, a monster so powerful that the world would surely need to band together to kill it for good.

Ozpin, Raven Branwen, Summer Rose, Julius Arc, Jeanne Arc and Satoru Gojo. These people who were considered the strongest and best in what they did all fought the Black Witch on the island, and using a custom artifact Ozpin managed to seal her. However, the battle did not go without cost, Jeanne Arc and Julius Arc sacrificed themselves to defeat Salem. And Summer Rose used her life to petrify the Great Elder Grimm and put it to sleep.

However, despite the greatest destructor Remnant being gone, that didn't mean that everything's fine and dandy. Salem's defeat has created a power vacuum. And many are willing to try and take her place.

Monsters that want to bring the World Of Magic to the surface, Dark Mages chasing an undefined goal, Vampires, and even normal humans.

And it goes without saying that Salem's machinations aren't over, even sealed her Cabal is causing a ruckus with the goal of freeing their queen.

White Huntsman

No need I already went in-depth with my vision of the story. Though I'm thinking of changing the Team name SWNB(Snowbelt) to SWNB(Sunbeam) to relate to JYPR(Jupiter).

Blue Magic

Pending titles also being Blue Exorcist, Blue Executor, Blue Mage, and Blue Sorcerer. Tell me which sounds better.

As you may have guessed from the prologue and my power system post this AU is kinda a mishmash of concepts from other settings. Jujutsu Kaisen is the most prevalent because this story, Blue ________ is a direct cross between the two and is actually the first story I thought of even before I decided to make it part of a multi-fic AU.

It takes place in Atlas with Whitley being the main character. After Weiss leaves for Beacon and he's pretending that he isn't stewing in jealousy, a new girl shows up in his classroom. A transfer student from Menagerie, whose also a Faunus, Fox Faunus to be precise, (she has cute fox ears) with amber hair. Her name is Kohaku Abe.

She's shy, and reclusive and doesn't really try to get to know people, in fact purposefully avoiding attention. As a new student Whitley is chosen to show her around the school and how things are done.

They don't really get close to each other until he hears her play an instrument. Instantly captivated by the way she plays he stays late at the school to listen to her play.

This becomes something of a routine, and despite playing the same thing, it never gets boring for him.

Slowly the two bond over a month as Kohaku plays and Whitley listens. Whitley tells her about his family life and she figures out that he's jealous of his sisters for having the freedom he wants. And he learns that she isn't as passive as he thinks.

Soon things take a turn when she asks him to go somewhere with her, which he realizes might be a date. And then he realizes he's pining over her.

He goes and has a good time with her, but things take a turn for worse when she suddenly collapses and a medicine bottle falls out of her purse.

Apparently, Kohaku is contracted with an unknown disease she developed at a young age, her family moved to Atlas to get better treatment but it wasn't working and was very expensive.

Whitley reassures the family that since he's the son of the Schnees he'll get her the best treatment in Atlas but when asking permission from his father he rebuffs him only deciding to spare some money since she's his classmate but not enough to pay for better treatments.

Whitley wallows in his weakness until Gojo and Megumi appear, telling the Abe family that they have a treatment that can fix her all better! For free! They just have to do it alone.

Whitley smells a scam and tells Kohaku not to trust them. And she doesn't, running away the moment they go to a shady non-descript place and say shady shit.

Whitley is at school reminiscing about his memories with Kohaku, until Kohaku appears, saying she needs to play, until suddenly she falls unconscious and a monster appears from her, at first invisible to Whitley until the sky turns black and the school is suddenly covered with a barrier.

Megumi appears, saving Whitley from an attack and explaining what the monster is. A Spirit, a being created from the energies of Aura, life releases. most of the time these energies simply decay and don't do anything. However, at times strong remnants of Aura attract each other and become this blob of Aura. It isn't alive, but at the same time is, like a virus. It's simply a mass of emotions. Normally these blobs of energy should simply decay or rip themselves apart unless there named.

A name has meaning, it is the basis for an identity, having an identity means having consciousness. Megumi believes that when she was young Kohaku found one of these blobs of emotion and named it. The newborn Spirit attached itself to her draining her Aura which is the cause for her sickness.

Megumi says he could separate the spirit from her using a talisman but he needs to get near her. unfortunately, Kohaku has a powerful Aura. Which is bad since that means the spirit itself has a powerful aura in thanks to feeding of her for most of her life so the talisman is to weak to work. Despite not having a semblance it destroys most of the school in a single attack. But Megumi notices something about it's behavior and attack patterns.

It’s a newborn, right after getting a name it attached to Kohaku and gestated in her like a baby in the womb. It has never had a single thought until this moment. Where it's relying on its instincts to fight. (This is also why it doesn’t have a semblance, cause it has no personality.) It doesn’t even realize it's hurting Kohaku.

Gojo appears and decides to help after the schools been nuked since he’s skilled and powerful enough to separate the spirit on his own. However, the spirit’s so powerful that even Gojo’s having a little bit of trouble, in addition the spirit despite having no thoughts for most of it's life is very intelligent.

Finally the battle ends with Whitley entering the fray bringing Kohaku back to consciousness which allows her to control the spirit long enough for them to separate the spirit. In return getting impaled and his side gutted out. Of course he survives cause Gojo activates his Aura and he gets healed.

When he wakes up he learns that it's been a day and that Gojo and Megumi are Exorcists and that they hunt Magical beasts, Spirits, Ghosts, and just about any being that people can’t see, and isn’t human or Grimm.

Megumi wants to erase Whitley’s memories but Gojo being Gojo says he likes romance and gives Whitley a choice. He can have his memories erased and never see Kohaku again or he can join them and stay with her because currently there training Kohaku to gain control over her spirit partner.

Whitley obviously chooses the sane choice of being an Exorcist. So Gojo gives him an assignment to do over two weeks and a cover story for why he disappeared.

Since the school’s been destroyed Whitley has an easy excuse as to why he wants to enroll into the private school. There he meets the first-years, Kohaku, him and no one else.

Turns out Exorcists are in short supply nowadays.

So there partnered up with a second year student, not Megumi, no instead a guy named Midorime Kurokami, a thug that dislikes Whitley because of him being rich and having an haughty additude.

That’s the basic idea for the first arc. I also have ideas for what the Disaster Curses replacements will be and a tournament arc.

Whitley Schnee

The gist for Whitley’s arc in this story is him becoming a better person by getting out of Jacques thumb, cause in canon after Jac is gone Whitley goes hero mode and helps the main cast. This is a similar approach, taking him out of the toxic environment and slowly removing the grooming Jacques did till he’s finally his own person and not what Jacques wanted him to be.

It's also why I want to keep Weiss’s arc incomplete in Beacon. So we could contrast Weiss who’s still trying to be perfect and the leader of the SDC and thinking she has freedom when she’s still under Jacques’s thumb to a younger but more emotionally mature Whitley whose already thrown those ideas and aspirations away and became a better person because of it. He’ll give Weiss harsh advice that she won’t understand till she matures as a person.

Kohaku Abe

I don’t really have her character finalized but I recently read the Bleach manga for the first time and I think i’ll have her be similar to Orihime, except you know, good. Like Orihime she’ll start of as passive and meek but gain her own inner strength and how to use it, unlike Orihime.

Midorime Kurokami

Midorime is thug. That is the only explanation you need.

Okay seriously. This dude is created when my brain farts out ideas. He has like the most 13-year-old backstory I can think of.

You ready. Okay so just like Cinder he’s Mistralian who was part of a not-so-legal orphanage, just like Cinder. (I was actually thinking about Cinder and him being from the same orphanage and Cinder taking care of him when he was younger.) Just like Cinder he’s bought by some rich asshole and shipped to Atlas and just like Cinder he escapes his employer (though probably not through death). Unlike Cinder, however, he meets up with a gang who decides takes care of him. Since he didn’t have a name, a menagerian in the gang decides to name him Midorime Kurokami (Which literally means Green eyes, black hair, his facial features, not very original.) And giving him a metal bat.

So he lives with the gang till he’s 14, and since his education is gang stuff. One day, a vampire attacks the gang and kills all of the gang members.

Midorime gets his gets ripped out and his intestines all over the floor, however, his rage at seeing the people he consider family die in front of him allows him to activate his Aura and gain his semblance (allowing him to move his body as long as he has Aura like a puppet) he picks up his metal bat and smashes the vamp’s head in, over and over again. While his guts are hanging out.

After smashing the body so much that it’s less human and more like a squished tomato some exorcist's arrive, one of them being the principal and owner of the school. Midorime survives and is healed and gets adopted by the principal head.

As for his character I was thinking that he’d have traits from his thug/gang background and Exorcist background. He still speaks and uses thug language. And acts like an idiot and thinks he himself is an idiot but he’s actually very smart, being able to use and understand different types of battle styles, Dustcraft techniques, and theory. But also math, English, science. He’s someone who‘d
d be incompatible with Whitley at first but grow to be a great friend later. I’m also thinking of having him as the team leader in the beginning before Whitley takes the reins.

Also shit, so much writing, so much time it took. I was going to write a plot outline for Red Monster and more but it’s already so late. I guess that’ll wait till tomorrow.

Small spoiler though, Red Monster’s about Ruby.

White Huntsman

“Hggrrh-a-graah.”

A ghoulish noise that he couldn’t recognize came from his own mouth. Jaune blearily blinked the dark spots in his sight away as he tried to figure out what was going on. The first thing he noticed was an acrid, smokey smell, burning his nostrils.

The second thing he noticed was that he was moving or more accurately, being moved, the surroundings blurring together till it was just a mess of colors, cold wind of fall burned against his face, his bangs forced flat against his eyes. His shoulders and legs were rested upon supports, lifting him up.

It took him a second to realize that he was being carried. And it was actually kinda comfortable.

But, by who?

His head rolled, however, his eyesight hadn’t recovered so all he saw was a blurry trail of red, like fire.

‘Pyrrha?’ he thought, quite uncertainly due to seeing three faces at once.

Unbeknown to him he had said her name out loud.

Jaune involuntarily jumped a bit as his momentum suddenly stopped.

“Jaune?”

Okay definitely Pyrrha, he recognized that voice. Why did she sound so worried?

“Uh, Pyrrha what’s going on? And why are you carrying me?”

A small blush colored his cheeks as he realized Pyrrha wasn’t just carrying him but princess-carrying him, with ease as well. His mind and pride started a war with each other with such thoughts as ‘Oh my god my favorite female idol is princess-carrying me!’ and ‘Oh my god my favorite female idol is princess-carrying me.’

But that was quelled when he saw the look on her face. She didn’t just sound worried, she looked worried as well. With her emerald-like eyes filled with a deep sadness.

“Jaune… don’t you remember?”

Those words filled him with dread, he felt like there was something he should be remembering. Why was he out here being carried by Pyrrha anyway? Wasn’t he and Team JYPR(Jupiter) on a mission…

His thoughts stopped. He glanced out from Pyrrha’s arms.

That smokey smell was smoke.

A fire was raging in a square, rubble and rebar was strewn about, the front half of a train car stood out in the middle of it all coming out of the ground, leading to a hole.

And from that hole, creatures of Grimm crawled out.

“Damn it…Damn it!”

“Aw! Wait, Jaune!”

Jaune shook and struggled, forcing Pyrrha to drop him.

“I’m sorry!” she cried as he hit his forehead on brick.

He landed on the roof of a small shop only around 15 feet from ground level, with a tent coming out.

He tried getting up but could only manage to get on his knees and hands.

And then he looked.

“GRAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOO!”

Beowolves, Boarbatusks, Creeps, Ursa’s, Nevermores. At least a hundred of them were running around the streets and more were coming from the hole.

A giant King Taijitu slithered around with impossible speed, crushing a bakery with its weight.

Thankfully the bakery was already abandoned, so no one was hurt.

That wasn’t the same for the streets.

A Beowolf charged forward at a civilian who had tripped and was now unable to run away, its maw already gaping to take a bite out of her.

*BRRRHMPH*

Until that maw was suddenly closed by a pink and gray hammer. Smashing into the Beowolf’s lower jaw, the hammer was being wielded by a girl with short ginger hair.

“Hi-Yah!”

With a bombastic yell and an ear-to-ear smile, the bottom of the hammer suddenly lit up pink, a grenade exploded, the hammer shot up and the Beowolf was sent flying over buildings. Fading away even before hitting the ground.

‘Nora.’ Jaune thought mutedly.

*BANG*
*BANG*

She wasn’t the only one fighting. Yang was in the air wearing a much more serious expression, using her gauntlets to propel herself above the ground, with a well-placed punch she blasted a nevermore out of the sky and landed on top of an Ursa, punching a bullet into its back before it could get up.

His and Weiss’s teams were fighting, and they weren’t the only ones, he could see Sun and Neptune in the corner of his vision and a girl wielding a minigun in the other.

Everyone he knew in Vale was fighting, even people he didn't know were fighting.

The only people that weren’t were him, the team leader, and the Invincible Girl.

“Jaune come on, we can’t stay here.” Pyrrha spoke in a low yet urgent tone, kneeling and taking his arm, coaxing him up to his feet.

Shakily he stood up with her, his feet felt weak.

He was about to vomit, the endorphins in his brain were gone and he had a stinging headache.

“Pyrrha… why aren’t you fighting?”

“I’m sorry Jaune, but we need to get you to safety first… Ah, you’re bleeding!” She purposely ignored his question.

“Huh?”

He felt something wet on his forehead. Reaching up he found blood on his face.

‘Ah, so that’s where the pain was coming from.’

‘How did I get this wound?’

Pyrrha was approaching him, she had taken off her red sash and was now holding it up with two hands.

Just as she was about to use it as a tourniquet, he pushed her away.

“Jaune…why? I need to stop the bleeding!”

He studied her face. Tracing the lines of sadness. Trying to find a hidden meaning within that face, he didn’t.

‘Pathetic.’

She moved to him again. This time he let her wrap the sash around his head.

‘I really am pathetic.’

Why would Pyrrha be worried about his safety? Why would he be here? Instead of fighting with his team? Why would he be wounded?

It was… because he was weak wasn’t it?

He could remember it clearly now. Everything that had happened.

It all started when they agreed to join Team SNWB on a mission to Mt. Glenn to investigate Grimm and possible White Fang activity. Blake wanted to go, however, the mission was only for third-years.

Being first-years they weren’t allowed to go. Until Ozpin bent the rules and allowed Team SNWB to go with a Professor. Having overheard he asked Ozpin if Team JYPR could go as well, confident, too confident.

And so the Joint-Team Mission to Mt. Glenn with Professor Oobleck officially started.

After spending the day looking around Nora had managed to find a hole that led to a White Fang encampment. There they found an entire operation White Fang operation led by Roman Torchwick.

Using a workable train in the mountain, the plan was to rig each caboose with a bomb and release them from the train, blowing them up in order to make holes for Grimm to enter the tunnel. Then the train would follow tracks to the middle of Vale, where the train would blow through and make a hole for the Grimm to come out of.

Together they fought to… no. Not together, if they truly fought together this tragedy wouldn’t be happening right now.

While they were fighting the White Fang, Jaune saw Pyrrha was with him. Always keeping close to him, never leaving his sight.

Jaune realized recently, that it was because they had seen him as weak. Whenever he was in a battle, he never fought alone, not truly, his teammates were always close by. Ready to protect him at a moment’s notice.

And he hated it. He already had a complex of being saved and protected by other people. He didn’t want to be the child that had to hide behind his sisters, he didn’t want to be the kid stuck in a tree while his friends fought anymore. He wanted the strength to fight himself, to protect himself, the strength of a Huntsman.

To know that his own teammates considered him weak enough that he had to be protected, despite being the leader, even after landing the final blow on the multi-headed Taijitu? And that his idol, the Invincible Girl he watched on his computer late at night, the same person that told him that he had the potential to be a great Huntsman agreed?

It hurt him and his pride, badly.

During a fight in one of the train cars, a bunch of White Fang members had ganged up on Pyrrha, perhaps hoping to beat her with numbers. It didn’t work, despite the fact that they had Aura, the members of the White Fang hadn’t trained their Aura’s nor unlocked semblances, against a Huntress-in-training all it could do was keep them alive.

Despite that though, the onslaught of members had managed to hold Pyrrha back for a second.

It was only for a second.

But it was enough time to escape Pyrrha’s sight and move up the train leaving her behind.

It was definitely a bad and asshole move, he’d of realized that if he was thinking with his head, but instead he ran forward with his pride and emotions.

As he ran through the unknown inside of the train he felt a misplaced sense of elation. Like a hero confronting a dragon in a deep cave, and winning by the skin of his teeth.

As he ran through the train he could hear sounds of blades clanging against each other and people being sent flying above him.

It didn’t take him long to meet his opponent.

A short woman with hair and style just like Neapolitan ice cream.

Jaune knew logically that she was out of his league. She was Torchwick’s partner, was an incredibly skilled fighter capable of taking on and even killing huntsmen and huntresses, and had an illusionary semblance, all of which he witnessed first-person.

Despite all this, his pride reared its head and he thought ‘I can take her.’

He got his ass beat. Hard.

With flexibility and acrobatics, she easily toyed with him, flipping and pirouetting around his sword.

The only advantage he had was his large Aura, even then, it only meant that she could beat him more. His him and his pride

Again, he had to be bailed out. Not even on purpose this time. It was only luck that Cardin decided to smash a Grimm through the roof of the train car he was in and that it’d distract her long enough to blow it up with a dust crystal.

His aura shot, body beaten, and confidence broken. He was grasping at straws in order to prove his worth.

So he did something dumb.

Something reaaaally dumb.

He jumped in front of the train.

He couldn’t exactly put down why, his own thoughts seemed unintelligible at that point.

But perhaps it was as simple as wanting to prove that he was strong and useful.

However, he didn’t manage to slow down and stop the train like some superhero. Instead, he was pressed into the window of the train as his feet were forced under the train. If he let go he would’ve been sucked underneath the train and run over.

His aura was drained away by the millisecond, his entire body felt like a balloon of pure pain that just kept expanding and was about to pop.

‘Ah.” Jaune thought.

‘I’m about to die.’

He was in a state of constant pain and yet his mind felt clear.

‘I’m going to die here.’ Ripped apart under the wheels of a train he failed to stop.

Had he managed to do anything with the meager time given to him…

No, nothing.

All he did was simply make things worse.

The grinding gears of the train got louder and louder, the sound starting to drown out everything in his mind.

‘I’m sorry.’

All he did was fuck everything up. And now he was going to die by his own folly.

A fitting end.

‘You guys have such a pathetic leader.’

His vision swam in darkness as he felt his muscles loosen. The pain suddenly shut off, and his soul was pulled upwards by the angels.

Well, probably not.

Drip. Drip.

He was kneeling here. Very clearly alive.

That pulling sensation. He very clearly knew what it was now.

“Damn it! Damn it! Daaaaamn iiiiiit!!!”

“Jaune! Stop!”

He smashed his fists and head into the brick. Punching and slamming himself into it His skin ripped without the protection of Aura.

Pyrrha’s hand wrapped around his wrists, despite his struggling he couldn’t break her grip.

“Jaune! What are doing!?”

“Damn it! Damnit!”

“Ah…ah…ah..ah.” The short burst of energy sputtered out leaving him as tired as he’s ever been.

Pyrrha didn’t yell or move. She didn’t try to move him or tell him anything. He could feel her heartbeat from her chest pushed up his back.

The grip on his wrists tightened as if he’d disappear if she let go.

“Pyrrha…” his voice came out hoarse.

“Hm?”

He turned around and saw tears at the corners of the Invincible Girl’s eyes. Despite being ‘invincible’ she had never been in this situation before, and she had no idea how to handle what was plaguing the person she cared about.

“...why did you save me?” the question came out in a whisper.

“Wha?” She reeled back in shock.

“Of course, I’d save you!” she yelled, tears starting to stream.

“WHY?!” Jaune yelled back his voice rose louder and louder.

He started crying too. Tears streaming down his face he cried.

“I’M PATHETIC! BECAUSE OF ME AND MY STUPID PRIDE, ALL THIS HAPPENED! IF I HAD STAYED WITH YOU WE COULD’VE STOPPED THE TRAIN! INSTEAD, I JUST RAN OFF AND YOU HAD TO FOLLOW! IT’S NOT JUST THIS TIME AS WELL, ORIENTATION, CARDIN, THE TAIJUTU, I HAD TO BE SAVED EVERY TIME CAUSE I’M SO WEAK!!! I DIDN’T EVEN DESERVE TO COME TO BEACON!!!”

“Jaune! What are you saying?!” Pyrrha replied incredulously, To her, it seemed like her team leader was losing his mind.

“I…I… faked my transcripts,” Jaune admitted.

He felt her grip on his wrists slacken from the shock of his words.

“I’m an Arc, we’re expected to be heroes, I grew up listening to awesome stories of my predecessors. Fighting monsters and killing Grimm. Yet, yet, I was weak. I always hid behind my sisters when conflict came, I was the kid who got stuck in a tree and was too scared to come down! I wanted to be like the heroes in my family despite that. So I took some transcripts I found and applied for Beacon!”

“Ahahaha, I didn’t think it would work but it did, I somehow got into Beacon, and thanks to you I got past Orientation.”

Jaune shivered and gasped, running his voice raw and he giggled insanely.

“I thought I was hot-shit! that I’d be some sort of prodigal badass with just my Aura! That I’d climb to the top by myself!”

“But I didn’t do anything! I only did the bare minimum of training! I didn’t pay attention to classes! All I did was laze around and read comics!”

“And look what happened! This entire mess in the city was cause I couldn’t keep my damn pride in check!”

“I needed you guys to pull the weight! You, Yang, Ren, you guys have to stay back and take care of me cause I’m so weak…Weiss was right. All I'm doing is pulling you guys down. I shouldn’t have come to Beacon, all I did was take the position of someone better than me.”

Jaune finally finished ranting his face was slick red with blood and blush.

Pyrrha had no words, how could she? Gears turned in her head as she realized why Jaune was so inexperienced, why he didn’t even have Aura.

But the time for reminiscing and sharing truths had ended.

“GGGGRRRRROOOOOOAAAAARRR!”

Jaune had been so caught up in his emotions against himself that he forgot that he was on a battlefield. Pyrrha had also been distracted by Jaune.

He stared forth, in front of him an Ursa met his gaze, the red glowing eyes promised only malice.

It reared up on its hind legs standing upright, ready to charge forth.

Swish.

Pyrrha appeared in front of him, her hands were already armed with Milo and Akouo. The tears were wiped away leaving only smudges of makeup as she gave the Grimm a glare.

Time seemed to slow down as his brain processed his thoughts.

‘Ah, I’m going to be saved again.’ He realized.

‘So what, I can’t defeat it anyway.’ He thought sullenly.

What was the point? After this, he wasn’t going to be a Huntsman anyway.

He believed that Pyrrha would tell Ozpin or Ms. Goodwitch the truth he just admitted. And if she didn’t, he’d do it himself.

After all, he didn’t deserve to be here, he was just hogging a spot someone else could do better, someone actually trained to fight and lead and just wasn’t some kid with a dream.

Yeah, this was the end.

He looked up at Pyrrha’s face, and an indescribable feeling welled up.

Despite that…

The faces of his teammates flickered through his mind, the group that made up team JYPR.

Despite this…

He remembered his grandfather, who told him hundreds of stories about his and his ancestor's past.

“Grh,Grrh!” He ground his teeth together.

Blood still flowed down his face, turning his vision red and making his eyes sting.

Time sped up.

“GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!”

He lashed out, reaching out for the sword hooked at Pyrrha’s waist.

“Hauh!?” Pushing Pyrrha his hands gripped around the hilt of Crocea Mors.

And he did the only thing he mastered.

He unsheathed it.

Pulling the sword out of the scabbard, Pyrrha fell on her butt from the momentary loss of balance.

“GRAAAAAAAAAH!”

Still yelling he charged forth. Falling off the rooftop with an ungraceful tumble, opening even more wounds and pain.

But he got off the ground and onto his feet. His body flashed white.

The cries of his teammates surrounded him. But at this moment he didn’t hear anything.

He simply ran toward the Grimm.

The Ursa still standing on its hind legs opened its arms wide like an anteater ready to eviscerate him as soon as he got close.

Despite it all…

“DDDDDDAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!”

Jaune still wanted to be a Huntsman.

His sword glowed, red hot like as if it was being melted in a furnace, the brightness simply kept increasing more and more, the light running from the hilt to the tip of the blade til it was only white.

An everbright white that blinded even the Grimm.

KSSSSWWHHH!

A white flash burst out from the sword, blinding everything in the vicinity. The sound of something being seared and sheared permeated throughout.

When the light receded, the Ursa fell in two pieces cut in half by Jaune’s sword. He stood above the disappearing body in triumph till he tipped over and collapsed.
The quality suffers halfway through this one cause I actually lost motivation to continue this oneshot, and it was just sitting on my PC for months. I only decided to pick it up again cause I didn't want to leave it unfinished.

Jaune here is based of his V1 character cause V1 is the only season of RWBY I'm willingly watching, couldn't find any motivation to continue in the series.
