The Pokemon Topic

Is it just me, or have the starters been getting progressively more "cartoony" over the last three or four generations?

I'll be honest. I'm still 3 generations behind, halfway through a Pokemon X save file.

I never finished Sword to be honest, although I am playing Arceus and Heart Gold.

Of the three new starters i like the grass types looks the most, but my love of reptiles calls out to the dopey little trashcan on legs that is Fuecoco. Here is to hoping that evolving makes it looks less like it came out of Bubble Bobble
Heh. I loved playing Bubble Bobble back in the day. Never beat it, but my family would spend weekends playing - my parents were fiends for the game. Good memories...

Well someone made a comment on kotaku comparing Professor Turo to Fallout 4's Arthur Maxson and now i can't unsee it.

A separate set of three Pokemon OVAs, the Hisuian Snow series, is being released on Youtube this month and in May.

Today's Pokemon Direct. A lot of looks at Scarlet/Violet stuff, including the Terastral evolution mechanic

The new Scarlet/Violet trailer. The protagonist's appearance is extremely generic. Team Star's boss (sub-boss?) needs some suspender straps to hold up her boots. What a godawful, loud design.

In huge news, Ash Ketchum is finally to be retired as the main protagonist of Pokemon anime after nearly a quarter century. 13-episode finale to start airing in January, and then in April we get an anime with an entirely new protagonist. Hopefully with Eevee as a character mascot instead of a fat rat!

Honestly, I'd prefer they move on to animating the Pokemon Adventures Manga instead.

Interesting. I can't imagine they would ever outright say a human x Pokemon relationship producing offspring like that on the show, so they'll probably just be coy with little things like that

There was a new Pokemon Presents a few days ago.

Items include:

  • Premium reprint of the first Pokemon TCG set
  • A Netflix show, Pokemon Concierge. Looks to be stop animation?
  • New Pokemon in Pokemon Unite and Pokemon Cafe
  • Pokemon Sleep
  • An accessory for Pokemon Go and Sleep
  • New DLC/raids in Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet getting a re-release with downloadable DLC voucher...but the physical price is also going up to recompense. $95, yikes! DLC is on a voucher instead of right on a card so they can double-dip if somebody resells the physical card, too.

Not so much as double dipping but slowly phase out physical releases eventually, Nintendo been doing it's best to eliminate the second hand market. The thing with digital releases is that it does not lower in prices over time like physical media does and they want to control that.
