A Different Path

Note: This starts just prior to the time period of Episode 2, however this story in an Infinities world where Anakin was rejected as a Jedi, beyond that you will have to see as it is revealed.

xXx

A small craft dropped from hyperspace above the bustling world of Coruscant, sharp lines blending the designs appearance with that of a starfighter.

It was a prototype craft that Arakyd Industries had been attempting to license for production, though the registration was continuously refused because of the heavily armed crafts capabilities and armaments.

Anakin Skywalker slowly returned to the waking world from his trance.

He was not excited at the prospect of returning to the city world, but if his information was good one of his friends would be in trouble.

One of his friends was the youngest son of the head of the board of Arakyd and had overheard the information when the Nemoidians had come to try to buy the company to the Separatists side.

He hadn't seen Padme in years and had already passed word through Naboo while moving to assist himself. If a Jedi knew what all he had done they would pitch a fit, or at least the modern ones would. Some of the visitors that had been guiding him in his travels had shown some disdain for them as well.

Anakin had spent his time among the stars soon after Naboo, first finding himself on Lucazec. A native group of force users had accepted him and let him study along side them before he was led elsewhere. His other short term homes had given him other skills with Ambria being the planet he had since called home.

On Ambria he had learned what was now referred to as the Jedi Arts by a spirit and one ancient being who's name was a legend even to the Jedi of today.

His travels through the galaxy had led him to Ossus before being contacted with the warning to pass on before he could follow the next lead he had for another chance to learn of the force.

For now he refused to carry a lightsaber for his own use, though he had other options and had brought two gifts with him in the hopes of gaining access to the Jedi Archives and one meant as a message.

A slight sigh of relief as the passcode of the ancient Jedi Watchman cleared security and he came in low as Thon had instructed.

The Helix class ship seemed to glide in for a gentle landing.

Very interesting. I like this version of Anakin. A wandering Force-Scholar is an interesting twist. I wonder what the Council will think when they detect his force power, trained and honed and not as wild as it was. I can imagine a couple of pointed questions and a panic attack.

Keep up the good work on this;)

Master Thon, huh? When the Jedi hear that, they'll be even more interested. Of course, its a much better reaction than they'd have if you'd gotten him trained by Master Revan.

May we assume that he went back to Tatooine, and freed his mother?

"You know old man," Anakin stated calmly, "I really don't need a minder for this."

Gritting his teeth, the young wielder of the force wondered just why the force spirit had kept on following him around the galaxy ever since he had found his way to Rhen Var when he'd located a distress beacon.

Ulic had taught him some of the basics of the force as the Jedi used it when he'd tracked the beacon through the frozen wastes of the planet and finally found and befriended Jace Drazo, the same friend who had then given him his current ship as a reward for the rescue.

It had been Ulic who had brought him to Ambria in the first place and to a seemingly immortal being that had once been called a Jedi.

Thon had stayed on Ambria for millenia only leaving a few times when the need was great enough. Thon was a great friend and mentor to the force adept as he traveled, a voice of caution and experience without the hypocrisy the more modern jedi seemed to have.

Walking slowly down the boarding ramp, he flicked a switch to activate a subsystem and a security droid he had gotten on Onderon a year earlier.

His satchel held two of the things he was to deliver and a third thing was in a sealed case he carried flat.

"Take me to Yoda," the order flowed from him in a tone he had honed to work with most of those who had any military like training, "I have some things for him."

He paused again with the large package, "And take this to Roron."

The last was a collection of plants that he had been asked to deliver to Coruscant when he stopped on an Ithorian Herd ship on his way off Ossus, and a nature priest he knew had made the request since Anakin would be on Coruscant anyway.

Yep, Revan wouldn't quite work since he was human and would have died of age (I believe that in Darth Bane they mention that he passed on entirely). Thon's species has no known maximum life expectancy and as he basically remained on Ambria.

As for rescuing his mother, yeah, he did with some help. And he had someone who Watto owed money to anyway that became a friend. More on that will be covered later, but he was hanging out with the Lok Revenants for a while

Hmm. As for Revan he was described as a malestorm of the force. Quite possibly the only Jedi who EVER exceeded his power of the force was Anakin pre-maiming. If Yoda could live 900 years old with HIS mastery, then Revan who was more powerful and according to his teacher more skilled than any other force user I could see Revan living for a lot longer than a humans alloted time-span. However four thousand years is a bit much. If Revan is still alive, a possibility, he probably went into seclusion to study the force as was his wont and probably only tertiary aware that Anakin is wandering around the galaxy.

The thing is that Yoda's race probably lives longer than humans to begin with andit has been a couple thousand years since then

Yeah. Me and MageohKi got into a discussion though it does not really effect your work. We were swapping theories on how powerful a force users some of the noted Jedi were (Yoda, Vader, Palpatine and Anakin) and in he more or less convinced me that past a certain point aging does not really matter to a force sensitive. In that I mean if you have the power, like anywhere near Vader's pre-maiming, then you can live indefinably. I just like that theory ;)

However again that has nothing to do with this very nice fic.

Unfortunately that has been shot down by Lucas when asked why Yoda let himself die. He mentioned that they can delay it for a short time, but other than some techniques involving Sith secrets one cannot prolong their life for very long. I believe he mentioned a year or so in the interview.

After the debacle of the prequels I don't pay attention to Lucas much anymore ;)

I know, but this was a rather old interview that I remember from the publicity before the Special Edition release. So it was before he had the lightsaber stuffed up his ass.

As with everything, it can go either way. If need be, you could always go and quote 'there is no death, there is immortality' (or however that bit went) at people.

I was actually thinking Force Ghost or Holochron.

Revan's Holocron is in Sith Hands. A force spirit of Revan could work at a later point

Which one? We know at least one Sith Holocron that Revan created. Or are you talking about one he made once he became a Jedi Master after the mess with Malek at the end of Knights of the old republic. However I am pretty sure the sith one was a bit faulty as it failed on Darth Bane. However Revan was the kind of person who would not just create ONE Holocron if he could.

Anakin was not impressed by the Jedi Temple as he was led through it. He remembered a few of the rooms from when Qui-Gon had brought him there so long ago.

It felt arrogant to him the way they were set up, Jedi making themselves look like the white knights of the galaxy. For ones who claimed to avoid politics, it seemed a blatant piece of hypocrisy to build their monolith on the capital of the Republic.

A lot of it was the same type of thing that Thon had mentioned as his reason for remaining away and what he could find out about Qui-Gon had seemed to show him trying to stay away as well.

"This way sir," the one that seemed to have either rank or seniority on the others stated as they waved him into one of the smaller sitting rooms.

It seemed that the Jedi also contracted out for maintenance and other work.

xXx

Yoda had blinked when he had been informed of an ancient code being used, one that predated his own time in the order.

Thon was a legend, one he had been told was still alive. The ancient Jedi had been promised a personal landing pad in the temple that was deep beneath the surface levels now.

However with some of the later changes, the Tchuukthai had abandoned the leadership save for when he required something on Coruscant and even then he had been warned that the Watchman of Ambria often dropped off a report and left.

If it hadn't been for the fact that Thon had been a master since long before anyone else, he would have ended up listed as one of the Lost 20.

When the personal code of one that seemed to be the eldest of the Jedi, even he would come running to see who the ancient one had sent and why. However, the aged Jedi Master had sent someone with his codes.
