It was a quiet day in Tokyo 3. Misato was asleep after a long day at Nerv. Rei was in Terminal Dogma, updating the Dummy Plug system. Ritsuko was with her. Gendo was having a quiet drink in his office. Asuka and Shinji were playing video games in the living room. On this quiet and normal day, everything changed for the Evaverse. On this day, every person in the world simultaneously lost consciousness for 24 minutes.

At first, that seemed to be it. Until people began spreading stories. In these stories, the people spoke of visions of the future, visions that subsequently come true. As time goes on, more people come forward with their visions. And more people prove these visions true. The same is true for the Eva characters.

What these visions are and how the characters respond to them are up to whoever takes the idea. But my preferences are thus:

~Rei sees her death and the fight against Armisael.
~Asuka sees herself lying in a bed. Someone is with her, holding her while she cries. She can just barely make out Shinji as the person with her.
~Misato sees Lilith and the Dummy Plug system.
~Gendo refuses to talk about what he saw. But Fuyutsuki notices that he's acting strange, depressed even.
~Shinji also refuses to talk about his vision. But he starts acting strange. He's hostile to his father and uncomfortable around Rei. He starts fussing over Asuka's behavior. And he barely talks to Misato.

You can use these if you like. And you can do the fallout however you like.

Hmm, future-Shinji's desperate attempt to retroactively avert Third Impact?

Maaaaybe.

It's up to your interpretation. I hadn't actually thought out what Shinji saw. But his reactions in my head seem to imply that he saw A LOT more than the others, maybe even a whole life. Maybe he lived out an entire lifetime with one, the other, or ALL the main love interests for him and died of old age before coming back in time, an old man in a teenage body. Or maybe he saw Kaworu confess his love. Or maybe he witnessed Third Impact. Or maybe one of a thousand other things happened to him.

The point is that I didn't ever come up with EXACTLY what Shinji saw.

...On the other hand, I know EXACTLY what Gendo saw and why it's got him depressed. And no, I wont' share.

Eh, you never really know with me. A "No comment" can mean anything from "you're kinda close" to "You're spot on" to "You're way off but I'm still not telling." Just to warn you ahead of time.
