A General Forum

I see that a suggestion for a politics forum was made and summarily turned down flat, as I don't see a Politics board anywhere.

What I'm suggesting is a "Space is a Waste" Board, one where any thing and everything can be discussed. Where you can both bitch about how Ultimate Fail PTS is and spam to your heart's content.

Or at least, play those stupid but fun little forum games I've seen spread all over the place.

There's been a great deal of things I've wanted to discuss in general, things like philosophy, life in general, and how I'm going to assassinate Pres. Dubya one of these days. :p

But there's no in between here. There's Anime, Rants, RPG, and hardly anything in between.

I think it would be fun to have a forum where etiquette like necro'ing and flood control is Banned. It's nice to cut loose in a while.

Or if not that, my orginal suggestion is fine too.

For those of you who recognize Space is a Waste, I both applaud and pity you. You know too much.

Hmm, I think the Rants board has been used closely enough to this idea that an extra forum is rather unnecessary. Anyway, "spamming", in my opinion, should just stay forbidden. Off-topic posts are fine, within reason, but they should at least have some kind of content. Worthless messages designed only to increase postcount should get one severely warned, and eventually banned.

That's exactly my point, though.

I mean, wouldn't it be easier if there was a SiaW board for random nonsense and the Rant board become what it was meant to be: A place to whine and bitch about life with impunity? ^_^

And I'm saying like outrageous loss of control, just a place where you can put whatever. No topic is off limits, no question too deep, and no politics forbidden.

Sounds enticing to a lot of the other forumites here who want to branch out a bit, I should think.

I think if people really need to completely lose control and whine and bitch endlessly, they should do it off the boards, or at worst in Gabbly, where we don't necessarily have a "permanent" record of it unless someone takes the effort to log the chat.

I think we're somewhat missing the point.

What I'm talking about is like a lounge.

Not an emofest, as delicious as that sounds to some people (you know who you are, kukukukuku...)

It's really not that big of a deal I guess. It just sort of offends the neat freak in me when I see SiaW behavior in the Rant forum.

-twitch-

I might ask Hawk about it directly, if he doesn't glance over these topics once in a while.

Thats actualy a pretty good idea. A place where some of the rules don't apply, that would be damn near fantastic.

The only possible outcome is the overall forum would have a drop in quality.

A place where there were no rules would breed even more rulebreaking. Lurkers would see it and would think it is fine so it would end up with a newer generation of posters who continuosly break rules. In otherwords we would turn into DLP.

I don't know about that, but there is a problem with this idea; keeping the arguments that started there in there.
