Okay, one thing that's been bugging me is that Olivie sounds and acts like Saber,
How?

I didn't say she was treating Vivio improperly, I said Canon!Olivie would probably not act like a stern mother when raising a child, if she ever had one or even if she was to take care of one. Of course, given that you gave her Saber's personality, it fits, sorta anyway.

@Van: She's serious, acts too stuffy, and blunt. Canon!Olivie is more of a lively person.

If anything, being on her own with Touma at first likely forced her to be a little more stuffy. Without her applying that discipline, he could have been a rowdier kid.

Poor Fate, I don't think that she's going to enjoy that talk for some reason.

The nervousness of the upcoming interview had eaten away at her for the rest of the afternoon, making her unable to really relax, despite being in one of the warmest places she knew on the planet. They had scheduled for Olivie to come over around 6 PM, which was now five minutes away.

“Fate-chan, you should relax. Olivie’s not going to bite you,” said Nanoha while setting down hot drinks for the two participants in the interview at the dining room table.

“I know that,” muttered the blonde before shooting an annoyed look at her friend. “That’s what you would do to me in the middle of the night when we share a bed. You and your food dreams…”

“Nyahaha…”

“Seriously, I do not need to develop a skin rash on my arm because of your midnight bites,” continued Fate, growing more irritated at the thought. “You also drool too! Maybe you should see one of those sleep specialists.”

The doorbell rang at that moment, with Nanoha glad to not have to deal with the irritated blonde. “Ah, she’s here!”

In an instant, Fate went right back to being nervous as Olivie and Touma were welcomed into the house. The time displaced Belkan was back in normal casual wear, consisting of a light white racerback top with no sleeves and a blue skirt. “Pardon the intrusion!”

“That’s no problem!” replied Nanoha like a perfect host. “You can have Touma play with Vivio in the backyard! I’ll keep an eye on both of them while you have your chat!

“Oh, that would be lovely! Thank you, Nanoha-san!” While the Ace of Aces led the small boy away, Olivie took a seat from across the other blonde who tried not to stare deeply into her hot mug. “So how are you doing today?”

“I’m fine, thank you.” She felt herself slowly relaxing a bit with the greeting helping to disarm the atmosphere.

“Before we begin, I would like to know if it’s alright if I record this conversation.”

“It’s fine, please go ahead.” A few seconds later and a miniature sphere with a rainbow Belkan triangle floated to the side, recording everything the two would speak about.

“Now then… the Church had been kind enough to provide me with some information on your work history and service record. You’re an Enforcer which means you are often out travelling in space which limits your presence in Vivio’s life. What do you have to say about that?”

“Even though I often work away from home, I try to frequently keep in contact with Vivio with a communication tool,” answered Fate naturally.

Olivie immediately zoomed in on that. “You feel that your job is very important to you? More so than watching over Vivio as she grows up?”

“I would like to take a job closer to home but the truth is that there are many unknown dangers in the galaxy. My job as an Enforcer is to try and mitigate those dangers so that everyone back home can sleep soundly at night, including Vivio.”

The other blonde paused for a moment to digest that before moving to another question after taking a sip of her drink. “Do you have any objections to having this as an open adoption?”

Fate shook her head immediately. “No objections whatsoever! Vivio likes you a lot and I can see that you’re a good influence for her and that you can teach her many important things about Belka and her heritage.”

“If you could change one thing about yourself that would make you as a better parent, what would it be?”

The off duty Enforcer took a sip of her drink while giving the answer some thought. “If anything, I should stop spoiling Vivio so much. Otherwise it might hurt her in the long run and she might start thinking that everything is going to be provided to them. I want her to understand and learn that she needs to work hard for things that she wants and take responsibility for them.”

Olivie nodded once. “Speaking of lessons, what other lessons do you think Vivio should take with her into the outside world?”

“She should learn about building relationships and having empathy for others. Being able to relate with people is important.”

“How does your extended family feel about the idea of adopting?”

“I’ve actually adopted two other children before…” Fate paused for a moment. “If you want to be technical, I was still too young to be Erio’s official guardian at the time I took him in so he's officially under the guardianship of my mother. I did take guardianship of Caro though.”

“Ah, so it’s not very surprising for them.” Another thought came to the Belkan woman. “Did that experience influence you in deciding to be Vivio’s other parent figure?”

“It wasn’t simply just that. I could relate to her circumstances as a clone.”

“You’re a doppelganger?” asked Olivie in a surprised tone.

“We’re both products of the same project,” came the soft reply. “There was no way I could simply ignore that.”

“That must be a very personal story. Thank you for sharing it with me and I see that you are doing your best… even if you do get a bit emotional.” She took a moment to finish the rest of her drink before setting the cup down and deactivating the spell. “That about wraps up all the questions I have for the moment.”

The Enforcer let out a small glad sigh of relief. “I’m glad to hear that you’re satisfied with my role as Vivio’s other parent.”

“Well, to be perfectly honest, there is one last thing we have to do before I can say that I’m completely satisfied with my evaluation,” said Olivie with her sunny smile.

“And that is?”

Olivie’s sunny smile merely got wider, causing a feeling of dread to rise within Fate’s chest.

“So these are the full results, huh?” murmured Hayate in her office while maintaining an open channel with Yuuno who had passed on the information to her earlier that day.

“There’s virtually no indication that the passage of time was interrupted in her cellular material. It was like she jumped forward in time in an instant instead of being suspended… or frozen!”

“An instant jump forward in time… that’s pretty scary when you think about it,” mumbled the young lady before picking up the pause from his side along with the strain in his voice. “You okay over there?”

“I’m fine! Don’t worry about me!”

Well, if he said so… “Anyways, I’m going to spend some time reading this myself. Can I get back to you later?”

“Sure, no problem!”

Just as she was about to close the channel, she heard a bit more noise on the other side. In particular…

“Phoenix Kicken! ATATATATATA-WATAHHH!”

“What type of battle cry is that?!”
came another familiar voice in a panic.

All this merely caused Hayate to smile. “Yuuno-kun, Fate-chan… fighto~!”

Next time: Olivie gets a new job.
