Dresden Files. Quite a bit of what was awesome about Harry Potter (ie similiar world it takes place in, slightly similiar situation...in a weird way), but way more kickassery.

Plus, it's about an adult, so shit actually happens.
Kickassery includes: A fireball that slams a werewolf out of an office building, across a 4 lane street, and into the building on the other side; Destroying an entire mansion full of vampires and starting a war; (not the main character) pulling a satellite out of orbit to destroy a vampire headquarters.

Yeah, it's awesome.

Dresden is the shit.

Yep, the Dresden universe is one where the gray seems to be the norm, no one is entirely good or evil save perhaps some of the demons.

Of course, Harry rarely gets to use any of the powerful abilities himself and normally just has to figure out how to survive them and keep from getting killed by both sides.

Yes, Dresden Files is an awesome series of books. Never seen the Sci-fi series so can't comment there. Been a few HP/Dresden crossovers out there, though they generally just cherry pick portions of Dresden to graft into the HP universe, which kinda irks me. Considering how eager the White Council is to eradicate Harry Dresden for using magic to kill in self defense, or Molly Carpenter for unconciously using magic to influence others - I can't imagine how the HP wizards would survive, considering that damn near every wizard in HP violates the laws of magic the Council goes by. Halfway through Summer Knight and have the rest up to Proven Guilty. Fun fun reading.

Would love to find/read a HP/Dresden Crossover/fusion that takes into account everthing from the Dresden Universe, rather than just gank portions of it to use (prime example of that being 'The Denarian Renegade' Fun story, but seriously ignores good chunks of the Dresden-verse)

Rofl, like the fact that wand wizards and the white council coexisting would result in major amounts of war?

War? More like the White Council and the Wardens would steamroll the HP wizards. Total anihilation. Though after HP and the Deathly Hallows I'm tempted to cheer em on.

:-/ it would be an interesting fight. Remember, there's like less than 20 wizards as powerful as Dresden around...period.

Shezza writes a HP, Dresden files xover,

28 chapters so far and going strong.

Granted, I've never seen this series, but I like the story.

Now excuse me as I tuck into Book 7. (Closure, baby...Oh yeah, that's the stuff.)

While the series is good, the books are much better.

I'd still love to see a Dresden/Bureau 13 cross just to watch the Bureau squash the White Council for every charge that they can pin on them while Harry just stands off to the side waving goodbye.

I'd like to see a government agency defend against a fucking Soviet satellite being pulled out of the sky, or a resurrected T-Rex.

Is there a place to download those books? If so, link?

BitTorrent is good for finding all sorts of sci-fi. Try Demonoid; I seem to remember they had both a Dresden-only torrent and a Jim Butcher bibliography torrent.

Umm, Steel, if the hints in the sourcebooks and novels is correct then the head of Bureau 13 could take the entire White Council without breaking a sweat. Sure, the head of the White Council is called the Merlin, but the hints point towards Horace Gordon being the son of Merlin.

Here is a link for the books. I'm not sure if they are linked to my PDA so that no one else can read them or not. You need to download the Mobipocket Reader to try to read them.

Of course, Bureau 13 is an American agency, and thus more win.

*dodges attacks from all the non-americans out there*

Yeah, think I mentioned Shezza's fic in my post. Fun fic, love his Harry; but it bugs me that he just cherry picks portions of the Dresden universe to use while ignoring other chunks of it. Not that I'm gonna stop reading, it's fun to watch Harry be a dick to everyone.

I've only read the first two books, so I can't comment too much, but it looks like the two worlds are different enough that there's really no way to mesh them. Your best bet is to write a story that takes place primarily in Dresden's area of influence. Perhaps an older Harry, tired of the wizarding world, goes out and discovers that there's more than one type of magic out there...

Anyhow, there's another Dresden/HP crossover called Arsenic and Old Lace. As it takes place mainly at Hogwarts, it has the same problem of picking portions. I also recall a summary of another story that goes something along the lines of 'Dresden needs to stop a green-eyed demon from entering his world'.

Oh, and here's a download link.

The Sci-fi TV series suffered from pacing issues and bad acting. That and the Council was shown at the most stupid of times and it looked like they were butting in and totally ineffective.

I'll take the books thank you very much!
