Nasuverse A Quick Little Idea

(Fate Scenario / Anime)

Well, I'm dawdling around as I usually do after getting home from our school's sports complex, and a quick little idea hits me. Shirou never did actually get to say 'goodbye' to Saber.

Now here's the scenario. Shirou thinks he's gotten over the fact that he'll never see Saber again, having convinced himself as well as Rin that it would all be put behind him. After a few months however, it becomes increasingly obvious that there's something missing, that he won't be able to move on without a proper goodbye.

Having now realized this, Shirou decides to pull something rather risky. Using [Stupidity Removed], he will attempt to materialize Saber into their world for a short enough time to be able to give her a proper goodbye. Nice and sappy, short and sweet, it's off of his chest.

I'm sure I could get some kind of twist in, but for the time being, it's obviously just going to be a relatively quick one-shot. MAYBE 3000 words at most. The idea's only about a half-hour old, so if I could get some feedback from some of the more seasoned FSN fans here (Glances in the general direction of FO and grins sadistically)...

Uhm... Tracing doesn't do that. It's limited to objects (and even more limited in that Shirou's really only good at Tracing weapons, although defensive objects only get minor penalties comparatively). I can confidently say that Shirou materializing Saber through Tracing is flat-out impossible. It's like smelling with your eyeballs, the organs don't function like that.

A much more possible way of going about it is using Ilya, as she is an Einzbern, and thus, can use the Third Magic (materialization of the soul, and what originally allowed for Eirei to be summoned in the first place). Although, getting into a situation where she can use it is a bit tricky.

Shit, I was afraid of that. <.<

(Damns both his n00bness, and the lack of clarity of the anime, before running to modify the concept)

Yeah, the anime did quite a few things hap-hazardly (especially Avalon, WTF? It does NOT reflect crap back at the enemy!).

You may or may not want to check out FuyukiWiki. It's the biggest library of Nasuverse data available (to English speakers anyway). It might spark a few ideas and such.

Aha, many thanks. ^_^

I'm Torrenting the game as we speak (1/10th of the way done), so that should help out considerably (Yes, I do know enough Japanese to get through it relatively unscathed, so the non-translatedness is fine. :p).

Alright, the idea is completely refurbished.

With the recent defeat of Gilgamesh and Kotomine, Shirou has a rather sharp change of heart. Instead of using his last command spell to have Saber destroy the grail, he instead uses it to order her to drink from the grail, giving her a second body.

Needless to say, Saber is upset by this sudden change in ideals. He has abandoned his need to be a hero, and instead fallen to his greedy desires, allowing the grail to remain intact.

Makes a wish, things get messy between everyone, and we'll see from there.

The only problem with that is that its horribly out of character for Shirou to do that. Not to mention that doing so would corrupt and reverse Saber.

I'd think it would be more likely that he would sacrifice himself by tracing Excalibur and giving his last command seal to Ilya, but that isn't likely either.

That's the idea. This isn't going to be a happy lovey dovey story. It's not going to start well, and it's not going to end well.

Man, talk about shitting on the entire point of the Fate scenario there. :/ I'd expect something like that more out of Gilgamesh, or HF!Shirou. You're seriously going to need a very good reason for Shirou suddenly doing a one-eighty, as he is pretty much a fanatic about his ideals. The only reason HF!Shirou turned around is that he was at a point where his ideals conflicted with his conscience, and also his budding romance with Sakura, and he later built up from there after a bit more hesitating. Fate!Shirou not only has gotten some heavy reinforcement on his ideals, but he's at the very end of the journey. Like I said, you need a preeetty good reason for it, or you're just doing blatant character rape. That's up to you, but you should be aware.

Another point you should realize is that not destroying the grail has a big consequence, namely that 'All the World's Evil' is born out of it. After Saber gets reversed, she'll probably team up with whatever the fuck it is and kill Shirou.

Or it could turn out to be an alternate Sakura who proceeds to make a harem with Shirou, Black Saber, Ilya and Rin. Nobody said the evil being would actually be born evil (actually, that's what Kotomine's main purpose was).

I like the way you think FO. We need a lemon of this. Badly.

Finally posting here?!

While looking at the ideas above i suddenly got the image of fanon/canon Dumbledore:

"It's all for the greater good!"

This could be an excuse or something for Shirou to act like that.

As for the statement above my post:

I second that!

Hmmm, a way to make this idea work with the anime version of FSN is to change the fight just a bit. Originally, Gilgamesh met them alone and took on Saber allowing Shirou to continue on and face Kotomine alone. How about instead of that, Gilgamesh and Kotomine both wait at the grail and face them there. Its an accident, but Saber comes into contact with the Grail and gets reversed. Shirou has her destroy the Grail, but she stays around in cursed flesh. Basically Dark Saber in the scenario where Shirou is in love with her.

Now thats an idea. However, wouldn't Saber still be tainted/reversed? I'm afraid at this point while I like FSN my knowledge is limited to the anime and some wikipedia entries. Hopefully we won't have to wait as long for a translation as we did for Tsukihime (which I do intend to play. Someday. Eventually. Before the sun goes cold at least)

Yeah, I mentioned she would be reversed. I don't know how she would react to Shirou afterwards though.

What's funny is that, in terms of her priorities, Black Saber is simply a more extreme Saber. Her loyalty is second to none, and her loyalty extends only to her Master (in the case of Heaven's Feel, that would be Dark Sakura). If Angra Mainyu wasn't in the picture, there's nothing to say that Saber wouldn't simply count Shirou as her Master and follow him around (even though her contract would actually be broken). In terms of personality, Black Saber doesn't actually HAVE much, especially since her original personality is basically being suppressed (this is noted in a BAD END if you hesitate to kill her, when she curses Shirou for not destroying her).

Mmm, I think that might be an interesting idea. Since unlike Fate, Shirou would actually have to let her starve (maryoku depleted) for her to leave. That her original personality is trapped there might be added reason for him to do it, but at the same time... it would mean purposefully letting her 'die', unlike the inevitable 'fate' that separated them in the original scenario.
