A rant about italian politics.

OK, so those of you who actually pay attention to foreign politics may remember that Italy now has the Left Wing (read: communism) at the government.

The scary thing is, they might actually do LESS damage than the Right Wing.

Quite frankly, I can't bring myself to approve of Berlusconi's time as Prime Minister. He messed up the workforce, failed to reduce our national debt, and worst of all, got us involved in a war we had neither reason nor business getting involved with.

While Prodi may have funny ideas about taxes and social security, he did have the right idea about war - don't do it. So yeah... I'll wait and see. Though I doubt things can go any worse than they already are...

So, basically IYO, you have the lesser of two evils currently, yes?

Quite truthfully, my coverage of foreign politics is somewhat... eh, unreliable. Then again, that could just be my paranoia acting up again... So it's nice to actually hear the thoughts of someone who's actually living in the... area.

GH... Never, never, never, never, never, NEVER say that. Murphy can, and WILL, fuck you up the ass without Vaseline.

Besides that it's a red herring? ^_^ (Kudos to those who can get that reference)

Right, almost forgot about Mr. Murphy and his infamous law. I stand corrected.

Easily distracted political observer at best, but I do recall when Berlusconi first came to power and my thoughts on the subject.

Which basically was, "No way this is going to end well...". But I have to admit that besides the election business now, I haven't really been following Italian politics as I get enough amusement from keeping an eye on the Swedish one with drunken female politicians involved in bar brawls, a Prime who breaks the law when expanding his house and ministers who calls the police everytime something goes 'bump' in the night. :) Jeezus, whatta bunch of pansies. Couldn't they come up with something really scandalous to do instead of all these minor infractions?

Or they could get Staliny with it. That'd be entertaining at least.

Ding ding!

Here's your prize.

Is it from the penguin guy from Paper Mario 2?
I've never played the game, so I wouldn't know if they had a line from that.

Aye, Murphy's Law states that anything [bad] that can happen will happen, and at the worst possible time. It's also become completely clichÚd in fanfiction. (If you see someone tempting fate, it is a sure sign that something bad will happen shortly)

Heh, what a cynical soldier Mr. Murphy was. ^_^

ANYWAYS... well, I haven't really gotten into Italian politics. After all, we have enough fun here with American politics. Like in San Diego, half the city government is in jail due to corruption (including the former mayor and vice mayor). And even the congressional politician in the area was forced to resign due to a bribary scandal. Which is actually an easy out for him since he still gets his government pension whether or not he goes to jail. Talk about taking care of your own. <_<

This is why you have a revolutionary government that lines corrupt politicians (read: 99% of them) up against the wall and has them shot.

Actually, he was a test pilot...
Yes, he was. But he was also a part of WWII; he served in the Pacific War and achieved the rank of Major, IIRC. True, he didn't create his law until after WWII, when he was involved with the experiments with... uh, was it rocket sleds? But anyway, he was a soldier as well as a test pilot.

IIRc, teh law states:

"If anything can still go wrong, it will proceed to do so, in the worst possible way, at the worst possible moment."

That's an addition part of it.

You could also use these -

"If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong."

"If something simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway."

"If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which a procedure can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop."

Actually, all of these (as well as the one I used previously) are simply examples of Murphy's Law... so says wikipedia anyway. -_-

Well, one thing about Murphy's Law is, no matter who said it... it is almost always right.

And if they law has a name attached to it, usually that means that it was named after someone. :p

Hey, GH, nice avatar. ^_^ Any particular reason for it?
Just felt like it. Plus, it sums my current mood up perfectly.

Although, what was your previous one? I had meant to ask, but I couldn't quite place the character.
It was Rath, the Nomadic Trooper from Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. One of the best units in the game, I might add.
