he's being a bastard, I say he deserves it. Besides its not like he LETS anyone get in touch with him except for close/personal friends. His reasons are limited to being disgusted with people "taking his work" ...... he's writing fanfiction, none of its HIS work. Hell, he should be proud their were so many people who tried to imulate his writing! Sure, they could have been more original, with their own spin on things, but in the end I would have been flattered.

He wants to try being an asshole? I'll show him what it mean to be an asshole! :evil2:

I won't take his work as my own, I'll just post it for all to read against his wishes.... and maybe I'll have this hacker friend of mine rip the rest of it out of his hard-drive before he crashes it. :evil3:

that last comment was more for blowin off steam than anything, I loved the guy's fics and to be honest I'm still really pissed off at him for takin them down, not a word of warning or for any GOOD reason at that.

But I'm being serious. :angry: Its not he's explicitly stated we can't post anything. In my mind he seems to have just fallen off the map, his last words were somthing along the lines of not wanting to write anymore for some reason or another that was rather stupid and childish. Not only did his works inspire other fanfic authors to TRY harder but they were all very enjoyable to read.

So why not post just one of his fics back up, abet unfinished and still under his name?

Not like I'm taking credit, as I see it I'm doing everyone a favor.

...And if it happens to get his butt up and moving again then so be it, I'll take the backlash; flames, smoke, and all.

SO unless he contacts me personally and asks me not to, the way I see it, he hasn't told me I can't.

There are a lot of authors that for right or wrong think if it is dead to them, or they will not get back to it, they don't want it accessible on the internet from their profiles.

They should have that right, whether we as readers like it or not.

Understand, this is not authors whose sites mearly collapse after time, like anifics, or fandorium, etc... Or others that confuse readers by posting the same story on different sites with different names or versions. But ones that deliberately go to the trouble to delete their efforts.

There are a bunch of examples, including Proteus and this author.

It still seems particularly crappy of them to do so. Once you release work into the public domain, you are giving up a degree of control over it. If an author of a printed work no longer wanted it to be released to the public, he'd be out of luck, since that decision rests with the publisher, to say nothing of how it's impossible to go around the country - or even the world - and remove the physical books.

The internet has allowed people to bypass the middleman for getting their work directly to the public, but it also leaves the public vulnerable to instances of people being jerks like that.

As a sort of group of peers, while we may not like his decision, we should at least respect and accept that he no longer wants this displayed publicly. Like F1 said earlier, though, keeping a copy for yourself and private distribution, well, that's just how it goes.

In the community, at least, that is more accepted than taking the work of an author without his permission and posting it all over the place, and as tenuous as the fanfiction community is, we try to keep things together and not step on too many toes as such.

I posted a Ranma/Tsuruko lemon here on TFF , but I decided to take it down. So does that mean that anyone who has a copy can post it on my behalf?

After all, TFF is author territory, and when you anger authors on their own territory, bad things happen.

It's like wearing all red to a Crip hangout. (for those of you who don't get that, look up the Bloods and the Crips of Los Angeles and its national chapters.)

Alright, you've convinced me.

I won't go posting the fic up anywhere, but I'm still very willing to give it away at a moments notice. If anyone of ya asks for it I'll send ya what I have. But just so ya know, I only have "FF7 Experience" - whatever he posted on ff.net minus the last two chapters written.

But really wasn't going to post it all over the internet anyway, I'm just too lazy. :snigger: No, about all I would have done was here and ff.net, thats it. :)

Even if you're not claiming credit for it, you should NOT post the work of others.

I believe that is against the TOS of FF.net and other fic repositories.

Conserve your anger! Harness your rage! Grind to dust the bones of those that deserve it. Direct your wrath not at disgruntled readers (because readers have a right to be angry as well) or at disgruntled authors (who have any right in the world to do with their stories as they please, even if they suddenly crossover spiderman and the Thing to have hot sweaty superhero sex just to spite their readers).

Payback ((Earlier mentioned, but GOD-DAMNIT THAT FIC RULED!))

There was a Slave!Asuka fic which I once petitioned to find the name for again that hasn't been updated since maybe 2004, unfortunately the name has once again eluded me.

I've got a huge list of "Things-I-Want-Mo4R-Of." however.

Really, I'm kinda surprised at that, I suppose everyone has reasons for things like that though. I really don't remember that.

'Altered Destiny' and 'Ambush Gone Wrong' by Shezza88. The only two long WoT fics worth reading, and the author abandoned them. :blue:

I don't know whether it's actually abandoned (it certainly hasn't been updated in a long time) but 'Only In Your Eyes Am I Worthy' (a Shinji/Rei fic) is one I really want to see more of. :(

I haven't heard from Lucy in awhile. FO or Dark Plague might know more about what she's been up to though. I haven't been very active at the 402 forums to fing out.
