"Okay, Elsie, what can you tell me about this girl?" Keima Katsuargi asked absently as his attention remained riveted on the most recent galge game to enter his PFP.
Elsie thought for a second. "Well, Kami-niisan, her name is Usagi Tsukino, she's fourteen years old, ad she has a talking cat named Luna. Her hobbies include--"
Keima didn't look up. "Wait. Say that again."
"Her hobbies include--"
"No, the part before that."
"Um... she has a talking cat named Luna?"
This time, Keima paused his gameplaying and regarded Elsie as if she were a three year old. Which seemed to be every other hour, given the newness of their partnership. He frowned. "Elsie, I don't know how it is in New Hell, but cats don't talk here."
"Well, this one does, Kami-niisan. Luna says she's looking for someone called the Moon Princess and needs Usagi's help!"
The male student fingered the obsidian collar around his neck very lightly. "...huh. The cat isn't possessed by any spirit, is it?"
"No, just Usagi..."
"No other sign of it being another Runaway Squad member in disguise?"
"Not at all, Kami-niisan!"
Keima pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "...in that case, I now know exactly what kind of game this is, and I can already see the ending!"
"Really? So, do you have a plan, Kami-niisan?"
The sixteen year old returned to his PFP; he had a childhood friend plagued with doubts to conquer. "Of course, Elsie. Now, all I need is a fine tuxedo and a mask. Magical girls just love mystery romances. Some roses should top off the effect nicely."
As he said that, something twisted through his thoughts. He grunted in mild surprise, drawing Elsie's attention. "Is something wrong, Kami-niisan?"
He shook his head, waving off her concern. "Just this game; it could be so much better. I'll blog about it tonight."
"Okay, I'll make you dinner later!"
"No!" Keima snapped. Last thing he needed was Elsie's specialty dishes giving him even more delusions and bizarre dreams. Last time, he thought he was the Prince of the Earth engaged to some blonde princess in space. Which was total poppycock -- his dream girl was Yokkyun, and he was not engaged to her.
Even in his dreams, the Real held no interest for Keima, and hunting down runaway spirits with Elsie only served to reinforce his thoughts on the matter.
