Filler or not, Hollow Ichigo is in it, I'm watching it. Besides, it's the best bit of filler I've seen.

With The Haitian from Heroes (back when Heroes was still good) as a zanpakut spirit, Ise Nanao's shikai doesn't grant her any new or exciting abilities - it merely makes inaccessible the shikai states of those around her.

Interesting. I've started reading is, and I find myself wondering what it means for Ichigo and Rukia, that they've exchanged parts of their souls.

Rukia better hope that Zangetsu will shrink. Not that she will be able to call him for a while. But this would cause a massive change to her fighting style. She used zanjetsu and lost to a regular hollow. Zagetsu is all about zanjetsu and power. Rukia has neither.

Actually that's not true. Rukia does have power. It's just that she's normally surrounded by what amount to freaks, monsters, and mutants and she's simply a highly trained and talented normal so she comes off looking weak. From what we've seen and been told, Rukia is both more powerful and more skilled than something like 80 to 90% of the Gotei 13.

As for getting owned by a normal hollow, that's corrupted data because she made a conscious decision to take the hit for Ichigo. Sure, she didn't count on it doing as much damage as it did, but she could have let Ichigo get killed and likely would have won the fight with the hollow without too much more trouble.

That's actually the beauty of such an AU scenario - it's already canon that Ichigo's massive, uncontrolled reiatsu was screwing with her senses - it's not that much of a stretch for it to affect her fast movement technique - she's a second too late...or a touch too soon (overshoots). It doesn't even have to be intentional.

Not that I'd actually given much thought to an "Ichigo dies" scenario beyond the fact that Rukia's been demonstrated to have a more than sufficient level of skill and power to kill that particular hollow without having idiot-civilian Ichigo needing to be rescued.
