Nasuverse An idea I wrote a snippet for

The sound of blood dripping to the tiled floor seemed to echo across the entirety of the park to the bridge that hung in the distance. There was a wreckage of a ship in the river to the side of the area, a constant reminder of the battle that took place here once in the past conflictàand the battle that was taking place now in the current Holy Grail War. Despite the constant drips, the battleground maintained an eerie silence that was near maddening, yet Emiya Shirou could only stare at Gilgamesh like a deer caught in the eyesight of a hunter. The pain from the gaping slash across his body, from his left shoulder to the left side of his waist, was so blinding that he didnÆt even have enough energy in him to even glare at his opponent, much less stand. Yet he still stood, defiant against the will of the golden king. The hands that lay upon his own comforted him. He knew almost instinctively that the fingers that touched his skin were that of his servant, Saber. His fingers were still in a sword grip, yet whatever had been in his hand that had stopped the golden kingÆs attack was no longer there. He could faintly feel her armor press against his back, like a ward against all harm that would be done against him, despite the bloodied wound that marked his body. Yet, even that comfort paled in comparison to the onslaught of murderous intent that emanated from Gilgamesh, who stood a short distance across from them.

A long slashed marked the cheek of the golden kingÆs face and a chunk of his shoulder was obliterated along with the armor piece that was caught in the blast. A stray thought flirted through his mind to retreat and heal his wounds before fighting them againàbut his pride quickly banished the thought. How could he have had his own attack reflected back at him? Such a disgrace had been dealt against himàand by what? A worm! A scum that shouldnÆt have been allowed to exist, much less thrive in any kind of world. Wellàhe knew that he would have to correct that mistake now. He would be doing the world a favor by ridding it of one more fool. A world that would be his soon enough.

ôYouàyouàlowlife,ö Gilgamesh sneered, but his lips soon turned upward into an arrogant smirk. ôIn a way, this was my fault. I should have extinguished your life right from the start.ö The air around him distorted as weapon handles appeared, attached to simmering portals. They stood motionlessly around him, awaiting the King of HeroesÆs command like faithful slaves. A golden arm rose and stretched toward Emiya, his forefingers pressed against his thumb.

A flash sparked in EmiyaÆs mind. This was the same as the time Gilgamesh fought Caster. There was no question what the result will be. He was going to die.
ôIÆm sorry, Shirou,ö a sweet melancholy voice said beside his ear, filled with regret and sadness. SaberÆs head pressed against the boyÆs back as she shut her eyes. There was no more fear in his voice, just acceptance of the end. An end that he wouldnÆtùcanÆt allow.

ôItÆsànotà.over yet, Saber,ö Shirou gasped out. The more he spoke, the more pain he could feel coming from his wounded chest, yet the words had to be spoken. He didnÆt know how much blood that he had left, nor did he really care. His entire body was numbed to the core, yet he still stood. The only thing keeping him from collapsing to the floor was only his willpower. Even for a person like him, with abysmal fighting skills, there was something he could do. ôSaberàcanàyou run?ö

ôShirouàö Saber pressed herself closer to Shirou. Even though no more words were said, he knew the answer immediately. There was no more time to convince her to do otherwise.

Golden fingers snapped.

The weapons burst out of their respective portals and streaked through the winds like a tsunami of lightning bolts. Even Shirou knew that there was nothing he could do to save Saber or himselfàbut something stirred within him. It was like gnawing feeling; something deep inside of himself that he couldnÆt quite grasp. Whatever it was, it spilled forth from his mouth like a blast door that had just been broken through. ôYou have changed, Gil.ö The ancient language seemed to serenade the park in a voice was unlike his own, more similar in depth and roughness as that of a bear. He didnÆt recognize the any of the words, yet he instinctively knew the meaning.

The tidal wave of blades split apart like a river cut into two paths, with each of the hundreds of weapons stabbing harmlessly into the ground to the left and right of the wounded pair. GilgameshÆs eyes were wide open, staring at Shirou in disbelief. It wasnÆt that the wounded boy knew the Sumerian language that surprised him; any monkey could have learned it from the translations. No, what surprised him was the accent and the way he said his name. No one knew his Sumerian nickname, except for a few people and only one of them pronounced his name that way. The man that he considered his brother, even if not by blood. His equal. His only true friend. ôEnkidu?ö the golden king asked in Sumerian.

Shirou merely smiled before he slumped forward, eyes shut. The only thing that held him up was SaberÆs arms. She quickly laid the boy on the ground before stepping in front of him protectively, sword drawn and stance taken despite the toll it took on her. Gilgamesh rushed straight for them. Eyes that once stared at the King of Knights with appreciation now only showed apathy and disdain. Once within range, she swung out the sword with the last of her strength, but the golden king merely blocked the attack with his arm. Before the blade could bite even a couple centimeters into the armor, his other hand swatted her across the battlefield like a fly.

The impact made her gasp out in pain as her body spun out in a roll, only stopping once she slammed into a wooden bench that shattered upon contact with the fallen knight. She could feel her weakened body groaning and every movement that she made was like pure agony, but still, she had to know. Her head rose slightly and despite her fading vision, she could still scan the entire park. They were gone.

Just a random idea I wrote out yesterday when I got inspired to write something. I am probably rusty, but I would appreciate any comments.

Shirou as Enkidu....yeah...that would surely mess with Gilgamesh quite a bit....mindfuck from the past...though I will be honest I have no idea where you could go with it...

Though it might be a better idea to not overwhelm the reader with it at the end...some hints and so on would do the snippet some good :)

Oh and something that just jumped at me when I read it...

A flash sparked in Emiyas mind. This was the same as the time Gilgamesh fought castor
If that isn't a reference to some other historic character I think you meant Caster.

I think there was Castor and Pollux in Greco-Roman mythology, but it was probably Caster.

Whoops, it was Caster. Fixed.

Yeah, it was a random idea that I got while playing the visual novel. As for where it would go, I have to admit that...I might have an idea? I don't really know, it's actual pretty hard to think of where to go with this idea as it.

 This was a spur of the moment writing so I didn't exactly think where to go with this, lol.

Though it might be a better idea to not overwhelm the reader with it at the end...some hints and so on would do the snippet some good
Overwhelm the reader with what? I am not sure what you are talking about.

Ah sorry overwhelm might be the wrong word.....but it somehow it feels as if the revelation comes out of nowhere and just jumps into the readers face.

Though if that was your intention then it's my mistake :)
