So.

What are your favourite gems of the times of legend and lore?

My eternal Ancient Game FAvourite will be X-Com: Enemy Unknown.

There is nothing to this day that is as glorious as this.

Why? Because nowadays, the only thing new games are about are flashy GFX.

Not the genius that stands behind the concept of X-Com.

And you?

Any of them that were released before the date limit you set. ^_^

Not counting Mystic Quest or FF7, if that was released before then. Because I hate Cloud. He annoys me. -_-

My oh my. I have several, as a matter of fact.

Mega Drive/Genesis
Gunstar Heroes
Streets of Rage 2
Revenge of Shinobi

Sony Playstation
Breath of Fire III
Suikoden

If I had to pick just one...

BoFIII. Not only Dragons, but Weretigers too. :sisi:

Ah. I forgot the one game that sucked an incredible amount of hours out of my younger years.

Sid Meier's Civilization.

More addictive than any RPG...

I haven't played Streets of Rage in years.

My game though, was Zelda. Tetris is a close second. Mega Man comes in third, despite the fact that I never managed to beat it.

For me, the best oldie but goodie is without a doubt Shin Megami Tensei.

...come on, you expected me to say anything else? The only series that deserves to be even in the general vicinity of Megaten, for me, is Phantasy Star.

I'd have to go with, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Chrono Trigger.

Each one a classic. And each one consumed hours of my youth.

Another oldie i liked for some reason was Pitfall on the Atari, though E.T. was absolutely impossible.

Final Fantasy Tactics.

Still one of my favorite games to this day.

The game that taught me to love RPGs... FFVI. Though it was known as III at the time. I even have the cartridge still, though it belongs to a friend I haven't seen in years... but he still has my Kirby Superstar and Mario Kart, so...

Also, STILL one of the best RPGs of all time, Chrono Trigger. Waaaaay ahead of its time.

Original Zelda? I never beat it until recently, but it was also so far ahead of its time that it wasn't even funny.

The first Wild Arms game... 2 annoyed me until I quit playing, but 1 was a breeze... though that could have to do with the 255 item cheat >.> but still, it was one of the great RPGs. I still giggle about the mock wedding scene; nothing much funnier than watching the audience ROFL whenever you screwed up. And yes, they really did.

Final Fantasy tactics - Still my number one game all this time since it came out.

Fallout and Fallout 2 - Very fun, good system, very freeform story, humor, and a healthy mod community(not really much anymore but it did).

Rock and Roll Racing for the SNES.

Contra III and Zombies Ate My Neighbors were also great. And I can't forget Street Fighter 2...

Bubble bobble.

Also Mario Bros. 1-3 on NES

Best game ever was Blue shadow, also on the NES. Two person, Co-operative game that hasn't been improved upon since.

More recently, the original Sonic Games on the Genesis

EDIT: There was also this one simpsons game I only ever pplayed one holiday in an arcade. You could have a number of people playing at once and combine attacks. E.g. Home picks up marge and spins hera around like Links's spin slash. I liked that game.

I glad that they remade that game into Civ 95, never could play the orginal DOS verison on XP (that and my copy got fucked by file curreption(sp?)).

All time favorite from that era? Pong.

You all may procede(sp?) to take aim at me.

But if you want a more current title, but within the time limit. I'd say either Red Alert or WarCraft2.

:sweat2: Really wish that WarCraft 3 never came out, it would have been better to end the series after Beyond the Dark Portal.

w00t Pong! Seriously, get a good partner to play against and that game will entertain for hours sometimes. Reminds me... does anyone know where that old flash video of pong is now, with a guy getting out of one paddle and maiming the one in the other, all on the old green-n-black? It was amusing...
