Anime Addventure Down

#1
Anime Addventure seems to be having some server issues right now. Hopefully it won't go down, even if most of the recent stuff is terrible the old stuff still is nostalgic.

I've been hoping that a couple things there might get updated still 'Setsuna's Fault-Wonder About Zero' and 'Sightless Spark' come to mind.

Like I said a lot of the more recent things are shit but this is still the only site that hosts Black Dragon's Orion fic, Journey to Red, and a good chunk of Dungeon Keeper Ami. So when it goes down, those disappear forever.

Have you considered copy pasting it to preserve it on your computer?

Unless you've downloaded them. Yup... besides the ones I already mentioned, personally, among other things I've liked:

- Divine Blood
- Enforced Evolution
- Phoenix Ranma
- Day by Night
- Setsuna's Fault - Time Lost
- Silent Hero
- Ranma Saturn Jurai
- Prisoner of the Iron Mask
- That one For A Birthday/Iffurita
- No Tendo
- Travelers Return

There were some funny or odd but interesting short ones as well, like:

- Restart Deluge Mage Council
- Masu Ranma
- Ark
- The Family Business
- The Good Life

Real talk, half of those titles make me cringe super hard.

I was kinda partial to Indelible Ink, and there were some other stories that actually went to full on complete fic that didn't turn out too badly. Just can't remember their names right now.

Sightless Spark is a story I wish stuck to a single idea and finished it. Instead, the writer kept backpedaling and reinventing the concept. Didn't help that he'd delete whole swaths of story because he got a different idea of what to do.

That was pretty decent.

'No Tendo' did that... you can actually find it on FanFiction.NET. Likewise 'A Boy In The Hand', 'Laid', and 'Shared Wishes, Shared Lives', and 'Divine Blood'.

Zaxxon's stories, most but not all of the AA ones are also on FF.NET, and depending on story in partial form on other sites like MediaMiner and FicWad

For a site made specifically to allow multiple branch offs and restarts, he certainly did not use it much in that.

Actually, the only item I found in contention story wise between myself and the author in commentary was he seemed to refuse to acknowledge the conflict he set up between Ranma and the headmaster as Ranma being in the right... and the fact that the old headmaster was acting the stereotypical know it all manipulative being believing he knew all.

To be entirely honest, the version I liked most seemed to be a odd type of Familiar of Zero crossover, or in a very similar world. and the last scene had him being dragged off by the heir to the local lord to the family house to be thanked for saving the dukes daughters.

You forgot Dungeon Keeper Ami in your list PC. And personally I think Wild Courier had potential, as for saving stuff I've got a plugin called Mozilla Archive Format, so I simply go chain view on the last episode and then save the webpage as a maff file

Chain view does not actually get you all episodes associated with a thread though... only that sequence...

I grab all the episodes in a thread and save them individually... I use a program for that. This is better for me as I always read a thread numerically, not by chain... thus when I read a thread on AA I am effectively reading all the chains simultaneously... And whenever I link to a thread, I like to the main episode list view only, not any specific episode.

I might have to move Dungeon Keeper Ami here if the AA stays down. Not looking forward to copy-pasting 180 episodes.

@Pusakuronu, the problem I find with AA is that you can't subscribe to threads, which means for something like yours that is widely followed AA is something of a bad only choice. Beyond that, I have to wonder how much longer you can drag things out before Ami wins

You have no idea how hard I'm trying to get to the end. Things just never work out completely how I planned them.

@Paul

There have been a couple people around asking about copies of Dungeon Keeper Ami; was that one of the ones you archived?

I am going to miss seeing Sightless Spark getting updated, I should have grabbed a copy of it when I had the chance, alongside the original version of that fic that I had before.

Pusa, you do know that putting DKA exclusively on TFF would mean people would not be able to even view DKA without having an account, right?

Why not give Xon permission to host publically viewable copies of things like he asked? Even if SB/SV requires an account to post and comment on regarding the story, it still allows anyone to be able to view and read it at any rate with AA dead.

Hmm, is there an archive for the original site?
I've got a private archive with all posts as of 1-2 months ago, with parent/child links preserved, and author details scraped out. I don't think I kept any comments however.

Disclaimer:
I'm the sysadmin/add-on developer for both SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity and have put a lot of effort into the technical aspects of those sites.

Please don't, I forgot how horrible MyBB is. Not to mention you wouldn't even be able to see DKA without registration never mind commenting.

SV has 10-20, and SB has 30-40 signups per day and not shortage of people looking for fiction to read and will massively comment on stories. Additionally, automatic notifications via email and -on-site alerts are also a god send.

SV rules should allow for something like Dungeon Keeper Ami to be posted on it, and SB used to they cracked down after people burnt bridges. But ask, and they will be able to tell you :)

And if you have any technical thing you would like changed, tell me and I'll see what I can do since I write and develop add-ons for both sites.

If we're doing competitive salesmanship, the mods here are better people, and the rules about "NSFW" aren't obnoxious, either.

#22
Actually with Dungeon keeper ami they might not want it on their sites given the large use of sex related jokes involving minors, and one of the more entertaining bits of comedy is 14 year old Ami's mistaken for pervert status. Even if a mod gives the Okay it's still possible someone could report an old chapter and you could eat a ban out of nowhere months later.

Honestly I'd recommend FFN for just sharing the story, but if your looking for comments SB and SV run a risk. I'd recommend QQ where there isn't a stigma against underage characters making innuendo and such but you'll probably see less comments there then on FFN.

Would you make that available somewhere, please?
