Well.. watched he first episode of Ranma Reboot already.
Graphics are improved in a number of ways, but offset as it has weird vibes of 1960's Bat Man series in that some events are characterized with exclamation point multi colored and not translated wording (I MAY be able to fix that if I turn on the subtitling). I believe to better mimic manga.
Female Ranma and Nabiki voices are definitely going to take some getting used to on my part. Kasumi to me seems drawn wrong, she is the oldest... but actually looks youngest here, where as in every incarnation I can think of she is the tallest and most adult looking of the three.
It has been modernized in a number of small ways, but it is only the first episode:
- The mail was delivered by a mailman on a moped/motorcycle, and it is more obvious it is a paved road outside the dojo, not a alleyway.
- Akanes desk chair is a modern office swivel chair.
- The layout of the property does not match my memory, with two of the notable differences being the roof layout and the size and closeness to the house of the pond.
Some subtle differences exist between this and older variants:
- No sign on bathroom door,
- No one knocked on the inner or outer door. I'll note Ranma never touched the bathroom door in either instance and Akane exited the inner bath nude to Ranma in the outer room.
- When Kasumi is describing Akane, she calls her a thug.
- No ducks on the room name tags.
A manga only scene was not present, that of Nabiki getting dressed up and seemingly looking forward to the engagement at first. There was literally no time as Soun barely described the situation before Ranma showed up.
Nabiki and Kasumi still push Akane and Ranma together.
Ranma still gets hit with the table.
At the end when Ranma and Akane face off nude in the bath scene, we can actually see clearly BOTH their figures against each other as we've a direct and level view from behind Ranma to Akane... so we can actually see the lines of their figures overlaid... it is a interesting view as their figures have been argued over for years from the old material.
