Code Geass Lelouch of the Resurrection PV (That subtle cart in it just confirms the obvious from the end of R2):

I really liked Code Geass. Lelouch was a nice character too. But a highlight of that story was it ENDED.

Why, WHY do they need to spoil things and bring him back? Couldn't they use someone else??

My precious memories!! Nooo!!!

They did, it was absolute crap.

Also, you expected Lelouch to just chill when some (dubiously middle eastern like) trouble rises towards his little sister and her Britannia, haha, he will be just as fabulous and just wreck everyone like a boss before he retires to countryside with CC again.

Also, you fell for his ruse that he was dead, his plan worked perfectly. I will praise the writers if they have all the characters lose their shit when they find out he is alive.

I will find it even more hillarious if a few characters totally don't get surprised by the fact he is alive and just show how they were ready to serve the moment he asked.

Seriously, l3fty? The cart driver theory was flimsy, poorly-conceived trash made up by whiny moronic fans who couldn't get over the fact that Lelouch chose to die. If you honestly believe it has any weight, I pity you.

You are taking Code Geass too seriously, Code Geass, where dead people only stay dead if they are unimportant or for dramatic purposes. If you thought Lelouch would stay dead for long and cart driver wasn't an obvious "got ya" I think you watched a different show.

In case you disagree, let us just agree to disagree and stop this discussion in the news thread.

NYAA torrents is dead. Not temporarily, according to multiple sources it's gone for good.

Was a good place to find supplementary material for anime, such as OVAs and Specials that streaming sites don't usually carry.

They also had a lot of older stuff you can't get through streams or on disk anymore.

There are rumblings of an eventual replacement, but nothing I'd trust at this point.

Any clue as to why?

New policies in EU about piracy of media, because people who don't buy media totally must have money squirreled away for the Cartel to get.

There are some scraped magnet links for the stuff that was on both nyaa and sukebe, and ofcourse there are people already working on a replacement.

There are two private options, BakaBT went private mode, so they might host stuff they were removing before due to C&Ds, and then there's AB which also has VN and similar games as well, not sure if BBT will expand it's repertoire to games as well.

I'm told that Tokyo Toshokan is a good anime torrent site. Haven't tried it myself yet.

Tokyo Toshokan is down for now too, it went down two days after Nyaa did. Site runners have said they're working on it, but no one really knows how long that will take.

So it seems the Ukrainian security service raided our host, so we have this backup server going on for now (host news). We'll be fixing a lot of things in a bit, had just come back from a personal vacation.
Also, as I said, there are rumblings of a replacement for Nyaa. The people at Horriblesubs have mentioned that some apparently "competent" people are looking into putting something up to replace it. No word on how long that will be, and no guarantee it will ever happen though.

Can I get some links on the EU policy claims for Nyaa's shutdown?
Whoever was running the site hasn't released any statements about why it happened. Nobody really knows why but them.

Most of what people are saying is pretty much just educated guesses. There's been some detective work going on and no one really has much. This sort of thing has happened before, so it's not like the assumptions being made are unreasonable, but no one really knows for sure exactly what happened.

For all we know whoever was running the site found Jesus and decided that Anime was from the devil.

They basically closed up shop and just vanished without explanation based on what I've seen from people talking about it within the community. I've been keeping my ear to the ground so to speak and poking about discussions about it on various sites, and it's pretty clear everyone was pretty surprised by the sudden shut down with no word about why.

I'll go ahead and put it up here, as it's just a text statement and for all intents and purposes a press release, and therefore fair use.

May 3, 2017

On May 1, 2017, NyaaTorrents officially ceased operations.
At time of this writing, nothing remains of the site. These are actions taken by the owner of the site and not a result of some form of internal subversion or engagement by government or legal entities.
The exact reasons for shutdown remain a mystery to all but the anonymous owner, but remaining former NT associates are led to believe that based on the circumstances surrounding closure, it was in response to recent court rulings that had the potential to affect site operations in the future. Rather than face this possibility, and any repercussions it would have on all parties involved, the owner decided to bring everything to a complete end. Based on operating principles, nothing will remain of the original site and all content, to include back-end, front-end, and all databases, has likely been purged.

There are no plans to continue any activity under the NyaaTorrents banner.
Any projects that occur from here on out are not associated with the original site.

The above serves as an official statement by what remains of the site.
Further questions can be directed via IRC to those remaining in #NyaaTorrents on irc.rizon.net.
