Not surprised. IT was supposed to pick back up and release next year.

Studio Bones has announced that a second season of Mob Psycho 100 is in production.

No details aside from confirming that it's happening.

Huh. Dagashi Kashi is not something I was expecting to ever get a second season for.

I can see it though, as it's basically an advert for various junk food. It wouldn't be hard to get sponsors for as a result.

Seeing Outlaw Star getting another broadcast isn't surprising given the upgrade it's gotten with the remastered Blu-ray. They did a good job with that remaster so it's worth a rewatch.

I, on the other hand, am not surprised at all. It's yet another "easy" anime based on an existing medium, like so many others these days.

And what, pray tell, would be an example of an anime based on a nonexistent medium?

Is this actually effective in Japan? i.e. if someone makes an anime about noodles, food brands will line up to advertise ?

Pretty much anything that was Anime First. Suisei no Gargantia, for instance. Angel Beats, for another. The Big O, Blood+, Code Geass, Lyrical Nanoha, Girls und Panzer, Izetta, so on and so forth. Those all started from "nothing", rather than being adapted from a manga or a light novel. We don't get a whole lot of these these days.

Perhaps franchise/series would have been better than medium then.

Lyrical Nanoha was an adaptation, not an original.

Fall 2017 Anime:

Definitely an improvement over this summer's releases.

Fans of J-pop Idol Anime hold on to your butts, because all the major players are returning this upcoming season. [Idolm@ster is gender flipping things, which could be interesting if you don't mind the obvious Fujoshi bait.]

Several other returning shows also make this a busy fall.

The new and original shows don't really seem to have much on offer. Nothing really jumps out at me as a must watch, but there are some shows that might prove interesting.

Not many movies, but a few of them seem interesting. Same goes for OVAs.

Not surprising. I've expected it to be a Winter show for a while now.

It's popular enough that it will likely have its own press event to announce it, and that probably would have happened already if it was going to be this Fall.

I'm Hyped also it looks like they change the character designs I prefer the old way but I don't hate the new design.

I saw that trailer yesterday myself... as I monitor the feeds that ANN puts out.

I actually think HSDXD had/has a lot of potential, I quite like the fairly rich, detailed and flexible backdrop and overall universe. I also like several individual characters I wish they would focus on more. Not much a fan of Rias and think the series should focus more on her not exactly being as nice as she comes off, but that is a minor point...

But despite that, the one thing to consistently ruin my view of it is they potentially picked IMHO one of the single worst characters ever in all of anime to do the entire series viewpoint from. Following not just Isse's point of view but also his thoughts is a major deterant to me liking the series.

Having super major important scenes completely disrupted by his thoughts/actions ruins the story flow, ruins the mood, and is quite aggravating.

I keep just wishing either they would change the viewpoint (say, for example, a season from the viewpoint for Sona or focus on Sona's group) or kill Isse off and give the view to someone else in Rias's group... either would work well for me.

I read fan fiction for this series, but almost exclusively it is either crossovers that reduce / replace Isse's role, stories that focus on a different group, or stories that change him so much to make him unrecognizable.

I'll probably still watch the series... but not really looking forward to more Isse.

I just hate Issei's reluctance to actually get laid, or even get to second base. Despite sleeping with two nude girls each night and with one to two more throwing herself at him regularly.

I understand it's suppose to be PTSD from his first girlfriend murdering him, but at some point you'd expect him to get over it.

It is worse than that... remember, we have access to his thoughts... so based on that we know at no point during these scenes is he at least consiously dwelling on it.

Of even more relevance to me... is why do they like him... Rias cannot possibly like someone feeling her up at critical battle moments and loudly debating the well being of her left vs. right side when something is coming to kill them... or publicly going into a battle frenzy after loudly declaring the horror of a mistaken belief someone is going to shrink her assets... Basically, despite saving her, he makes out, whether true or not, she is an object to him...

You do know that the only reason he can't get laid is that the publishing company won't let the author put sex scenes in the books.

Well, no scenes involving it anyway. Pretty sure it could be implied or referenced.
