Wait, so Crunchyroll is now acting as a financier in the anime business?
They have been for a little while now. Off the top of my head, they bankrolled both the Tower of God and the God of High School anime adaptations. Crunchyroll is nowhere near as big as Netflix is, so obviously they can't be anywhere near as splashy or lavish in funding new stuff.

Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, the new upcoming Gundam series in October, is getting a prequel episode premiered at Comic-Con San Diego on the 21st (I think it already premiered in Japan).

Teaser for the series as a whole, which just shows Suletta Mercury and her Gundam for a few seconds

I have concerns. Given the situation around Anos's VA at the moment, they'll likely recast him which I think would seriously damage the quality.

What's going on with the VA?

On August 4, 2021, Suzuki went on hiatus due to poor health issues, following a report published on July 30 by Shūkan Bunshun alleging that he was involved in an extramarital affair with a female work associate. The same report also alleged that Suzuki had possibly violated non-disclosure agreements during the affair regarding music he and Oldcodex had been working on for other anime series. On August 30, 2021, Suzuki released a statement apologizing for his "careless behavior."

As a result of his hiatus, he voluntarily stepped down from his role in Ultraman. He was also recast in Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, the CD bonuses of the game adaptation of My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Alchemy Stars, The Misfit of Demon King Academy, and Tokyo Revengers. However, Kyoto Animation confirmed that they were not replacing him in Free!.
He's been replaced by Yuuichirou Umehara for season 2

Interesting. I think I watched the dub, and it wouldn't affect the English dubbing at all.

Got to wonder what the appeal of floating mountains and continents is in anime and cartoons... I mean, I've seen it in Beast Wars, Escaflowne, Trapped in a Dating Sim, Familiar of Zero, World End and few others over the years... They almost always get a hand waive as to why they float too...

It's just because it's something that can not happen in reality.

That's not surprising, with the blockbuster numbers the first season must have done. As long as whoever had the rights didn't decide to do something weird and wait four years for a second series like One Punch Man, it was going to happen. That said, I am a little surprised it's happening this quickly, if only because there's not a huge amount of buffer room in the manga left. They could probably get enough for 12 episodes out of what's serialised so far, but there isn't an obvious end point like there was for season 1.

I just watched the first anime season, so that's really cool news to hear! Guess I'll have to watch the movie sometimes soon...

Great to hear... I liked that series.

Now, if only I could hear confirmation that there will be continuations of Realist Hero, Genius Prince, Arifureta, Trapped in a Dating Sim, and Skeleton Knight.
