A master-less NP? hmm... sounds interesting.
Possible... I suppose. The Holy Grail is the key to the 3rd magic. Materilization of the soul. I think  .
Sorry about not explaining this completely. I meant Saber!Shirou had Saber's Avalon inside his body like always. He gave it back to Saber at the end before her wish. However, he receives HIS Avalon when he becomes "King Arthur". I think Mosh is trying to find someway to work it out so Saber!Shirou can keep his Avalon as an Eirei.
True, Shirou wasn't invincible when he had Avalon inside him. A one-hit kill, like a stab to the heart or blowing off his head, would take him out. But if you remember he gets sliced, nearly through a third of his chest, by Beserker and he gets up the next morning without a scratch. Just a bit sore and spits up some blood.
I'm not trying to be stubborn with my posts. I'm just trying to iron out details with the story. Thanks again for your insight into NP and such.

Third possibility, that Saber finds something even MORE powerful than the Grail (as unlikely as it sounds, you must remember that the Grail is not even close to being the most powerful artifact out there in legends, and there might well be artifacts even more powerful), and THAT grants her wish. Say, the Philosopher's Stone, or if you want to be very sadistic, the Necronomicon.

You know, Kiritsugu is the one who is supposed to have Avalon in F/SN. Avalon is the item that was used to summon Saber, and he kept it on himself to stay alive during the war. Remember, Avalon was lost in the legend, and Kiritsugu found it and used it as a focus to summon his Servant.
And anyway Shirou wasn't invincible with Avalon in him, you know. He regenerated at a high rate, but he wasn't using the thing to it's fullest potential. He did return that Avalon, unless you change it. But even so, don't worry about multiple NPs. Half of GilgameshÆs weapons are earlier versions of all of others (for example, Gram/Balmung is a earlier Caliburn).
