Any decent Soka/Azula fics? I've been wanting to read some really good ones. I'm looking through the list here but considering I'm at work, they have FF.net blocked because of porn of all things.

And I don't see a request thread here so...

Personally I don't think it's "M" material. Most everything is implied, and the language isn't any worse than what you'd hear at your average high school. Still hilarious, though. Anyway, for my own rec, here's a Toph fanfic I recently found called It Takes a Woman. An slight AU where Zuko makes the mistake of saying that he will only marry a woman who can defeat him in battle. Too bad for him Iroh decided to make it a decree. Cue Toph, who has been convinced by Kings Bumi and Kuei, to lay the smackdown on Zuko and (subtly) convince him to stop the attacks on the Earth kingdom. Too bad the word "subtle" is completely ignored by Toph.

One of the biggest selling points is Toph acting so...Toph-like in front of Zuko, and his reactions. I can't wait for her to meet the rest of the family.

It took me a whole lot of effort to get through the fifty-word first "chapter." It told me that this fic was going to suck, but I decided to proceed to the next part. Well...it wasn't AS horrible as what I expected, but still pretty bad.

Its a fic that spoke to me. It said, wow, what is wrong with these guys? You should read ahead, not because of the quality, god knows it doesnt have that, but that it raises a lot of good points, ESPECIALLY about how dickish the spirits are and how stupid the characters can be at times.

Case in point, here's an excerpt from a chapter:

On the terrace of the Western Air Temple, Zuko stared at the Avatar as all of the monks friends glared at him. "Why aren't you saying anything? You once said you thought we could be friends." He watched the young air bender glance down. "You know I have good in me."

Aang turned to his friends and saw the Water Tribe warrior shaking his head. He then glared at the Fire Nation prince. "There's no way we can trust you after everything you've done. We'll never let you join us."

The scarred teen's eyes widened. "So then are you-?"

Katara brought her hands to her water pouch. "You need to get out of here. Now!"

The traitor prince cringed and tensed before throwing his hands into the air and moving forward. "I'm trying to explain that what you're doing makes no-!"

Sokka took a step towards the scarred teen and pointed his boomerang at him. "Either you leave, or we attack!"

The fire bender's mouth hung open for a second. "I can't believe youà" He then closed his eyes and knelt down. "Maybe it'll make sense to you,à" The teen lowered his head and held out his arms. "àto take me as a prisoner."

Katara flung a wave of water from her pouches. "No! We won't!" Her attack crashed into the Fire Nation prince and knocked him on his back. "Get out of here and don't come back!" She crossed her arms. "And if we ever see you againà" Her arms fell as she glanced down, but then the water bender's hands closed into fists as she furrowed her brow. "Well, we better not see you again!"

Dripping with water and flat on his back, Zuko stared, slack-jawed, at the Avatar and his friends. "So you guys think I'm still your enemy, but you have no problem with me just walking out of here with full knowledge of your location, your resources, and when I just gave you reason to think I'm in league with the assassin that's been hunting you?"

Toph began to shout, but then stopped. "Wowà He's right. This is a really bad idea."

I don't know what language he speaks, but I think it's full of lies.

The biggest problem with it is it's so condescending. Also, the author fails to realize that the characters are supposed to be acting like real people. Guess, what--many of those "mistakes" pointed out are how actual people might act. Which is the hallmark of a good show.

Eh, I'll give it a try, simply because it's one of the those fics where you get to use the characters to voice your frustrations at the various stupid - but understandable - shit that happens on the show.

This is true; but I'm feeling a bit asshole-ish at the moment.

Rain poured down from the sky as the water bender melted the large ice blades that nearly impaled Yon Rha. Immediately, the old fire bender dropped to his hands and knees and frantically shook his head. "I did a bad thing! I know I did! And you deserve revenge! So why don't you take my mother? That would be fair!"

Katara stood tall as she kept her eyes lowered to the ground. "I always wondered what kind of person could do such a thing." She raised her head and glared at her mother's killer. "But now that I see you, I think I understand. There's just nothing inside you. Nothing at all! You're pathetic and sad and empty!"

The former naval officer remained on his knees. "Please, spare me." He then began to cry.

"As much as I hate youà" The water bender's body began to tense. "à I just can't do it!" She lowered her head.

A small smile formed on the former Fire Nation soldier's face as he began to hysterically chuckle. However, his eyes widened when he saw the boy beside her with his mask lowered. He watched the scarred teenager glance at the girl and then at him. The old fire bender immediately lowered his head, but then he thought, Wait a minute, I know who that isà

The former soldier raised his head just as the boy turned around and began walking away with the water bender. At that moment, Yon Rha stopped crying and his hands clenched into fists as he bared his teeth and glared at Ozai's son. "You deserve that scar, you pathetic excuse for a prince!"

Zuko and Katara spun around as the young fire bender snarled. "Do you want to die today?"

Yon Rha pushed himself up and narrowed his eyes. "No! But I do want you to realize something! Do you know how many years I gave of my life to the Fire Nation military? How many times I pushed myself and risked life and limb for the glory and honor of my nation? Do you think you get to be the head of a specialized division that's responsible for neutralizing threats from an entire part of the world by not doing that?"

The retired leader of the Southern Raiders pointed at the water bender. "Now you're willing to kill me, a dedicated, sacrificing soldier, just to gain some kind of victory with her! Any of that sounding familiar? And don't think I don't know how you got that mark on your face! Old-nobodies in the middle of the Earth Kingdom know it!"

The traitor prince's legs began to shake as and Katara quickly ran next to him.

The water bender braced him against her body. "Whà what's wrong? What is it?"

The ex-naval officer kept his gaze on the traitor prince. "Now, I don't know what she told you about what I did or what happened between me, her, and her mother, so I'll forgive you for hunting me down. But the second! The literal second that you heard my side of the story! My side that told you that I was following orders to take out a credible threat! My side that told you that I was deep in enemy territory and that taking the bender out alive would've been near impossible and the time it would have taken would've endangered my troops! The second you heard that, you should have stopped this girl and tried to make sure you knew what really happened that day so that you could make the right decision!

"But you didn't. You did exactly what that general in that war room did on that day. I can see it in your eyes: Winning a measure of respect from this girl was a near-impossible obstacle in your path so you decided to sacrifice a man who loved and defended the Fire Nation to overcome it! So, yes, you deserve that scar. But there's something else you deserve. You deserve a message, one single message from the hearts, minds, and memories of the entire 41st division."

Yon Rha glared at the boy. "Fuck you, Zuko."

By the way, i don't agree with this author. I love Avatar the last airbender, even with all the glaring plotholes that are in it. He doesn't have to be an asshole about it, though. By the way, is there a bleach or naruto fanficiton that sproks the episodes or continuity like this fic has? Because if anything, THOSE deserve it way more than Avatar!

Hm, Returning the Pain is the closest thing that I can think of and it mostly made fun of cliches in the Naruto fandom. Keep in mind that it's been a year since I've read it - I liked it at the time but it's been too long for me to tell if it's worth reading or not.

Or the previous Avatars reach out through the Avatar State to redecerate the local landscape with the organs of the fools who thought enslaving the physical god of their world was a 'good idea'.

The Collector
I have delved into the Legend of Korra fandom and come back with fics. Most are one-shots. Enjoy.

The Night Spirit
Also known as Batsami Begins. In the aftermath of Amon's rebellion, Republic City is left in ruin. The question the Equalists posed was never answered, and now crime and war are surging. A new evil is rising, and the old protectors of Republic City cannot stop it. Now is the time for Asami Sato to take up the mantle of the Batwoman, and show this city that it's still worth saving.

String
"There was no better place for three orphans than in the hands of Korra, the link binding them all together and stringing them in a line, following behind the generations of family before her." post-finale Team Avatar fic.

God Bless the Child
Mako, Bolin, and Asami are in jail, waiting for Korra. Mako-centric with hints of Makorra.

Give and Take
She was the Avatar and she had given him so much, continued to give to him and his brother and girlfriend without asking for a single thing in return except for himself, and even that she had to give up for the sake of Asami's happiness and his own. Makorra with Bolin/Asami/Korra friendship thrown in.

Of Moths and Butterflies
Korra and Asami talk about this and that one night over fermented tea. Korra/Asami friendship, can be read as korrasami if you'd like.

Love Is Hard When You're Young
Written after ep. 3, what could have happened if Mako never dated Asami. Makorra.

Hard Knocks
Bolin joins the Metalbending police force. Mild Bosami.

Action over Words
One perfect family, a displaced Chief of Police, a gaggle of orphans, and the Avatar. They were a mess. Lin muses over breakfast at Air Temple Island. Set after ep 7. Slight Makorra.

Daybreak
After the restoration of Republic City, Airbending Master Tenzin suggests that Avatar Korra travel the world in the ways of her predecessors.

Catch
Lin's sure she's destined to become the first master of cable-swinging. However, she'll need to learn that even she might need someone to catch her. One-shot.

the Woman Chained
Lin is Earth, and Earth has no limit. Even a warrior chained and starved and beaten can kill a man if she has brain enough to think and courage enough to try. —-Lin, with and without; spoilers for "Turning the Tides."

To the Right End
Bolin proposes that they add the Avatar to their pro-bending team, but Mako has some things to say about that.

One Foot on the Ground
Mako hadn't been awake for five minutes before he stumbled barefoot and shirtless out of his room to discover the Avatar sitting in their kitchen. Eating his food. And his brother was nowhere to be found.

A Breeze over the Edge of the World
Korra and Mako fight to keep each other alive when a battle with an equalist goes disastrously wrong. Trapped and injured, the Avatar finds herself forced to deal with her duties to the world, her friends, and herself, whether she's ready for them or not.

Kaisei
What if Korra had taken just a little more time to talk to people, and what if she had met Asami before the fabulous bending brothers? Abandoned.

And slacktension has plenty of more one-shots.

Miscalculation by Azula Always Lies
Summary: In an alternate universe postfinale, Mai reflects on the consequences of the choice that won the war.

Warning: Dark.

Also, if anyone cares, Lavanya Six announced on her LJ that she's leaving the AtLA/LoK fandom. So no more drabbles/fics in that universe from her; which is a shame, as I was hoping to see more of Full Metal Bitch (AKA: The Gaang meets an Adult!Metalbending!Toph when looking for an earthbending master.)
