How would Love Hina change if it was set in Japan's feudal period? Keitaro would obviously have to man up a bit, and since he would probably be acting lord of Hina province/town/other word for small piece of land, the girls would have to respect him more. Motoko might be the exception to that, since the Aoyama clan would probably be autonomous, but if Keitaro does man up a bit more, she would probably be less inclined to violently attack him, especially if it could spark a conflict between the Urashima and Aoyama.

So, how would the other characters change?

Actually if Keitaro is Lord of the area wouldn't that Make the Aoyma's his Samurai?

Motoko might outwardly dislike him, but that's because she fears for her Lords safety and legacy. Keitaro is just too soft hearted, she loves him for his kindness but fears it will lead to the downfall of their families.

Kaolla Su is a foreign princess interested in the Urashima, and their lands.

Shinobu was sold to a geisha house by her family and has been 'adopted' by the young lord. No one else bothers her and all treat her well because as far as they ae concerned she is the Young Lords Geisha.

Kitsune is the daughter of merchants operating in the area.

Mutsumi and Naru are the daughters of Nobel houses that seek an alliance with the Urashimas...

Hmmm that's all I've got for now...
For Motoko, I was thinking she could be "on call" to the Urashimas. She doesn'y serve them, she works for them, and is free to request someone else take over, or just up and leave. However, she does have to consider the consequences if she leaves them to get eaten by demons, on her conscience, on her clan's reputation, and the damage it would do to their relationships with the Urashimas and their allies.

I was thinking Shinobu would be good as one of Keitaro's servants, with the unspoken understanding that she is there to serve his EVERY need. Granted, Keitaro probably wouldn't be comfortable with that, but it's there.

Kitsune I figured for the senior geisha/concubine. Again, given Keitaro's honorable nature, not necessarily as dirty as it implies.

Kaolla is really only an option as a forgein princess. Only issue is justifying why she's sticking around Keitaro's turf. Maybe she's there to establish trade lines or something, but her childish nature keeps gumming things up.

Mutsumi would probably make for a decent Noble, but I figured Naru would be more of a scholar, possibly serving Mutsumi and keeping her from wandering off or acting too strange.

Kanako could be adopted to be Keitaro's wife, or to act as his personal assassin/bodyguard. Could provide some interesting ninja/samurai conflict with Motoko.

Seta is obviously a wandering samurai. Probably Keitaro's instructor back in the day.
So, what do you guys think? Any thoughts on character options? How about the setting? Any enemies/major happenings going on?

Take Keitaro.

Replace with Oda Nobunaga.

Watch the hilarity ensue.

Interesting crossover idea.

As for Keitaro, there's a ton of 'the male lead set in an AU where he's a lord/son of lord and every girl is in his harem' fics/round robins. If you need to set him up with a little wealth/interesting occupation it might be better to put him as a low level samurai or scholar* and the women as individuals he meets through life/people he knew growing up.

*If we have to do ninjas then please make them realistic ones. Just to subvert the trend for once.

That means:

1) No all-black ninjas. It's actually more conspicuous than you think. Ninja were just as likely to be the geisha right next to you, or the student in the dojo.

2) Practical abilities only. Tools, fine. Seduction, okay. Some martial skill, sure. Kung fu prodigies utilizing elemental forces or ki blasts? No.

3) No fucking ninjato. The sword is a movie invention intended to give the all-black clad ninja more of an identity. Ninja would likely use farm implements, possibly a wakizashi or tanto, and homemade weapons like the black egg.

Kanako would probably fall into that category of ninja. She does a pretty good job of disguising herself in canon, and being in that time could only improve it.
