Bishoujo Senshi... Ninja Moon?

We all know the original Sailor Moon story. Dark Kingdom attacks the Moon, Moon puts up a fight but in the end Queen Serenity uses Ginzuishou haxx to send everyone to Earth to be reborn.

Not changing THAT... so much as changing the Earth she sends everyone to.

Welcome to the Elemental Countries!

Tsukino Usagi is a *gasp* civilian! Born to a civilian family and due to her parents' overprotectiveness has never been allowed to attend Ninja Academy... mostly due to her natural clumsiness. Still, that never stopped her from admiring them or wishing to be one. Her best friend in the world is one Uzumaki Naruto, and during their childhood they seemed to take turns protecting eachother... she shouts at anyone who calls Naruto names, he protects her from the bullies who try to teach her why no one else is his friend. Her family is accepting of the boy, but all in all the best she can do is be there when her friend needs someone to talk to and live her dream of Ninja-hood through her best friend.

That is... until she finds and rescues a small black cat...

"Are.. are you a Summon? Do you have a contract? Does this mean I can become a Ninja?!"

".... oh why me....?"

--------------------------------

Mizuno Ami is a Ninja Academy Cadet who specializes in using her intelligence. While her Chakra Capacity and physical strength and speed are about average, her mind is quick and, in some ways, quite devious. She seems to have an uncanny ability of reading people and situations, analyzing things quickly and coming up with a number of ways to deal with whatever crops up. Specializing in traps and planning, along with a rare water affinity, Ami seems to be well on her way towards becoming a strong asset in Konohagakure. She is rather quiet at times, but always quite serious, usually focusing on how to get stronger with what she has. Why she's so focused on becoming a ninja is something only she can say.

--------------------------------

Hino Rei is of the Fire Country Nobility, daughter of a well off family and rumored to have great spiritual powers. She's also incredibly bored with living the life of a noble, constantly having to deal with tutors, social events, training at the local temple... Which is why every so often, under the watchful eye of a hired ninja squad, Rei gets to 'slum it' at Konohagakure, her only visible companions being a pair of Ravens that accompany her everywhere, named Phobos and Deimos. She comes to Konoha of all places because she secretly admires Ninja for their strength, even if they are nothing but powerful tools and servants. She is quite spoiled and haughty, used to the finer things in life while sometimes amazed by the simpler, but all in all she is a good person at heart.

---------------------------------

And it would go on from here, but all in all instead of sailor suited warriors of love and justice, we would instead have Magical Kunoichi who have the only means of fighting off creatures called Youma... more later due to time constraints.

Wouldn't Ami also have an interest in medical jutsu? It would fit with her original story as being the child of a doctor wanting to follow in her mother's footsteps.

So....does that make Naruto Tux boy? If so then I wholeheartedly support this idea.

This idea is still very much a work in progress, as such some of these will be revised and reworked. For the Tuxedo Mask bit, still undecided as to who it would be... wanna keep it a secret

For Mercury's backstory, her father was a nin who died in the line of duty, while her mother is an accomplished Medic Nin. As such, she feels a lot of personal pressure to follow in their footsteps. Usagi will likely cause her to not be as focused, showing her the error of the 'way of the over-dedicated', along with allowing her to have a bit more fun than she allowed herself before.

------------------------------

For Mars, one of the things I want to possibly introduce is a fiance, since such practices are common amongst nobility in hopes of either furthering one's station and influence or strengthening bonds between two families. I'd rather not fall into the trap of the 'annoying fiance' since I'd want to introduce a conflict of interests... Saving the World vs Finding Happiness. Alternatively, to give the family more influence in Konoha, there IS the possibility of marrying her off to Shinobi Nobility.

-------------------------------

Kino Makoto is an orphan, taken in by her aunt and uncle whose family has long been the personal chefs of the Akimichi Clan. Her family,. sadly, was killed during the Kyuubi incident, a time she barely remembers since it happened when she was but an infant. Similar to Naruto, her father died in the line of duty while her mother died not long after childbirth. Raised as if she were her Aunt and Uncle's own child, since they cannot have any of their own, she grew up in the vast professional kitchens of the Akimichi Household, learning to mince garlic while most girls were still playing with dolls. It's a rather well known secret to all save those involved that Chouji has something of a crush on his personal chef.

Because the Kitchen is not the most elegant of places, Makoto grew up to be brash, tough and outspoken, since such an environment requires one to be loud and pushy to get things done sometimes. Though despite the fact that she can likely outcurse a Water Country Pirate, she has a surprisingly calm and elegant side, one painstakingly drilled into her to prevent any incidents whenever the Akimichis or anyone considered high society is involved, since any fault on her part could reflect badly on her adopted family, and in turn the Akimichis, if she accidentally insulted the wrong people.

Still, should anyone threaten any of her friends, they'll find her Chef's Knife can possibly do more than filet fish or take a pig perfectly apart...

------------------------------

Aino Minako is from the Fire Country's Capital, same as Hino Rei. Born and raised in the Aino Clan, a longstanding family of Samurai sworn to defend Fire Country, she was taught the way of the blade and its doctrines ever since she could walk. Sadly, she took to these lessons like a fish to water, becoming an ideal warrior for the sake of her family. So much so that in a routine hunting trip on her eighth birthday, when the small hunting party was set upon by bandits, Minako swiftly and efficiently cut down more bandits than any child her age should, becoming soaked in the blood of her enemies. Her family could not look the child in the eye, since everytime they did they saw what they had turned her into. None in her family have ever experienced their first kill at such a young age, nor did they do theirs like some cold killing machine. After this, she noticed the sudden change in those around her, a whispered nickname spreading through the servants and retainers to the family like wildfire... 'Blood-stained Demon Child'.

In order to cope, she denied this side of herself, the warrior that she had been forged into for the sake of her family, all in hopes of becoming what her family wanted. If they didn't want a hard, ruthless warrior, than she could become something else... a happy-go-lucky clumsy girl, something that could bring smiles to her loved ones, if that is what they wanted. So she placed a bright red ribbon into her golden hair and put on a bright smile. And while some were disappointed that they did not see the powerful warrior she was becoming, many more were relieved at this new change, allowing the memory of the Blood Stained Demon Child to fade the longer this went on.

Of course... away from prying eyes, when no one but her was about, she removed her mask... going through the motions of her blade dance with the deadly precision that earned her the dark nickname. The reason why? It was ingrained in her, it was a part of who she was, as much as her arms, her eyes or her heart.

It was on one of these nightly training sessions that she stumbled across a white cat that spoke to her. It told her of a dark element in the Capital that threatened to undermine not only the Fire Country, but the whole world... and she was but one of a small troupe of warriors capable of dealing with this evil. So she donned a new mask, her blade charged with the magical energy gifted her by a long dead kingdom. And thus, the Moonlight Samurai was born, appearing in the dead of night to fight against the malignant tumor festering in the Capital...

The evil called the Dark Kingdom.

You could always have Rei actually like who she's engaged to. We almost never see engagements in fanfiction anymore unless they're used in Ranma fashion, IE "both sides are either tsundere or outright hostile towards each other".

Well, given that the manga version had a low opinion of men...

Not just a low opinion she made a vow to Serenity to swear off men altogether.

Something from Wikimoon on the topic of Rei and arranged marriages.

In the manga side story "Casablanca Memory," Rei was shown to have a secret crush on her father's secretary, Kaidou. He cared about Rei more than her father, and bought her gifts for her birthday. Although Rei kissed him once, the relationship never turned to romance, and Kaidou became engaged to another woman. He told Rei that it was an arranged marriage which he accepted mostly out of honor, but Rei did not believe him; in her view, if Kaidou truly wanted a marriage to gain political power, he would have married her instead.

True, no one ever really shows people initially liking their arranged marriages except in the rare love comedy, but then it all depends on the fiance, no? After further conference with RBF, I've come to a number of choices, if I want to do an OC, I'd make it so they would like eachother, but she would be torn between accepting the engagement or continuing with her duty, since she wouldn't be able to have both.

Alternatively... the ideal target for an arranged marriage in Konoha would be Sasuke. They might have a lot of things in common so the marriage might work, especially since Rei would not be a squealing fan girl but a willful through well educated noblewoman. One with power that is stronger than his own in certain situations.

Another thing that came up in our discussions was the fact that after a short while, the Senshi, operating mainly in Konoha and the surrounding area, will HAVE to reveal themselves to the Hokage, or risk getting captured as spies or worse. Ninja, after all, are very suspicious. From there, the Hokage would likely reveal to a small number of trusted Jounin and Special Jounin the truth, before setting up a story for the masses. For training to make the Ninja Senshi more effective, two Special Jounin will be assigned to them, one for the basics, the other for hands on training. In order, Ebisu and Anko. Ebisu is supposedly a great trainer, even if we never see proof of this in canon. Teaching them the basics of ninja techniques and lore would help them with their control and really help those who didn't have any initial training, while Anko's training would teach them how to stay alive in the deadly battles ahead.

After all.. if you can survive Anko, you can survive anything.

The other thing we discussed is the family situation. They will be out at odd hours, sometimes even sent out for a while for training or actual missions against the Dark Kingdom, as such there are two ways to go about it.

1.) The Hokage comes up with some bogus program for young ladies that teaches them a number of useful skills that makes them into ideal ambassadors of Fire Country, though doing so means they will be sent to a special training camp to do away with distractions. Sketchy, yes, but best I can come up with for some kind of excuse.

2.) He tells the immediate family members the truth. These girls are the only ones who can fight these demons relatively easily, and until their methods and power sources are examined and made available to use for your average Ninja, they are the only hope Fire Country or the World has to survive. Many will be upset, but they'd have no choice in the matter after an impassioned speach or some such from the girls.

Anyway, something to remember is that a different world and different environment would mean that the girls would not be completely the same personality wise as their canon analogs. There will be some minor differences in some, and major differences in others.

Will one (or both) of the Mau officially be the property of the Daimyo's wife, continually escaping to seek out their charges?

Actually, I was thinking that their original placements still happen as usual. Artemis ends up running across Minako and stays with her as advisor, while Luna gets found by the hyperactive Usagi.. who still doesn't believe she's not some kind of ninja animal.

I do foresee run-ins with Tora though.. along with unfortunate run-ins with Akamaru.

... is it bad that the only decent animal to converse with that isn't a summon happens to be a pig?

Why can I see Kursawa style stare downs between Luna and Tora?

Complete with tumbleweeds.....

Alternately, Luna and Artemis are part of the Cat summoning contract and jus tlike Cats they do what they want. No need to wait for a summoner, they can go off and do what they want.

Give them a home base of the lost Uchiha city full of Cat summons, where the ancient Lore master provides them with the prophecies and missions for them to send their 'agents' off on.

It also means that like Summons, they have their own combat skills.

"Your Taijutsu is weak Tora" Artemis went into a deep Horse stance varient meant for the feline body "Let me show you the true power of Cat style"

Cheers

In terms of summons, I am going to do something along those lines for the Senshi, namely invoking the Guardians of the Senshi for special contracts.

From what I understand, the Mau were the Moon Court's Guardians, while the Ravens of Coronis, Phobos and Deimos, were Mars' Guardians.

Following the logic of the Sailor Animamates, then the other three guardians of the Inner Courts were Chuu, Mermaid and Coccoon.

Considering her water/ice based powers, the Guardians from Mermaid were likely the Mercury Advisors, but as to what form they took is anyone's guess really. Dolphins maybe? Or a Dolphin and a Shark for contrasting points of view?

Since Venus' canon abilities were all mainly around beauty, Coccoon's Guardian Butterflies(???) likely were her Advisors. Of course, these were either freaking huge butterflies or they mostly stayed in their human form when dealing in the Court is my guess.

Jupiter would likely have Chuu as her Advisors, mice being quick witted and sensitive to the dangers around them. (That and lightning strikes the tallest thing in an area, so being a small mouse likely makes them perfectly suited to not accidentally getting shocked)

Similar to other summoning contracts, they can likely call on multiple talking animals of said contract, bound by an ancient contract/duty to aid the senshi. But, when it comes to bosses? I'm a bit torn. On the one hand, it might be interesting to summon some giant boss creature, but then what would be the point? As much as this is a Naruto-World story, it still is taking from the Sailor Moon past canon. Or at least, whatever canon I can find and abuse. Instead of a giant creature, perhaps they summon the Senshi of that respective planet to come to their aid?

Alternatively, they could eventually learn techniques based off their guardian animals, much like Orochimaru and Anko's snake-based Jutsu, or perhaps even unlock some form of Sage Mode in the far future.

Thoughts?

Finally got some free time. But anyhow not all the Senshi would have guardians; Luna and Artemis for example willing to choose to leave their world in order to help Queen Serenity and Phobos and Deimos choose to aid Rei.

Following the logic of the Sailor Animamates, then the other three guardians of the Inner Courts were Chuu, Mermaid and Coccoon.
What logic? The Sailor Animamates where being controlled by Galaxia and happened to be senshi from across the galaxy.

The logic I mentioned is actually a matter of possible coincidence.

The Mau served the Moon whilst their Planetary Guardian at some point got offed by Sailor Tin Nyanko, while the Ravens of Coronis serve/protect Mars (and likely have been since the old days) while their Guardian was done in by Lead Crow. Since there are three more senshi and three more Animamates, I just linked them together via process of elimination and the fact that it made sense... to me at least.
