Apparently the Bleach anime is coming to an end at the end of March.

Just found out today.

Too bad it's Bleach and not something like Naruto.

Nah, fuck you and the jinchuuriki who rode in on you, bro. :p

This is the Bleach section, see? No-one here is obligated to like Naruto.

Lies. LIES!

...Ahem.
A recent television program listing in Japan reports that the Bleach television anime series will end its run in TV Tokyo's 6:00 p.m. Tuesday timeslot on March 27. When a Twitter follower of Bleach animation director Hiroki Takagi sent him an image of the listings, Takagi responded by saying, "So quick. I was going to paste ità /(^o^)\"

Shueisha, the publisher of Tite Kubo's original manga, had already announced that the weekly Naruto SD: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden anime will premiere on TV Tokyo on Tuesday, April 3 at 6:00 p.m.
So I guess they're stopping with the Fullbringer Arc rather than going filler. Can't say I'm particularly bothered, but when Bleach comes to an end I'll probably be disappointed I can't see any of the new fights animated.

They should at least animate this last arc.

Why? Four words: The Return of Aizen.

That is all.

Believe this one's words, or not. That is something that you must weight for yourself.

(But magical swordfights and Kubo's dashing monochrome samurai outfits are way more awesome than faggots in cloaks using gang signs, de gozaru.)

Also, Python - when did you start thinking that Aizen's return was something that would happen in the future? He's already touching your heart. Possibly inappropriately.

I specifically recall an interview in the manga thread saying Aizen was bringing sexy back into Bleach in this arc.

Hey, I never said it was the* reason. I'm just saying it is a main one to keep the anime going.

Than again, I stopped watching the anime when they did that filler episode where Ichigo dreamt he was in an Arabian version of Soul Society. That was the last kick in the crotch for me.

* Than again, YMMV depending on how much you liked the actual villain. Considering I like any villain who follows the Magnificent Bastard formula, and is someone who has or will have a fleshed out story, that's a lot.

Tell me, at what point did you start thinking that his return had not already happened?

No, but you do anyway.

Yes! Someone actually understood which speech I was emulating.

No, but you do anyway.
True. I'm secure enough to not QQ about it when other people don't. (Also, Kenshin-fag first and foremost. Fuck that modern shit.)

So, though it says the anime coming to an end, does it mean permanently? Or would they bring it back at a later date? I was wondering if there was a precendent for something like this.

Hard to say. Anime's have been canceled before due to dropping popularity at godawful points, quite a few due to overlong filler arcs too. However in this case it's like the entire Bleach series is being aborted, with both anime and manga getting the kill notice. It's kinda hilarious how hard Bleach has tanked lately ratings wise, which for something that used to hold a solid place in the top 3 is pretty much a first to my knowledge.

Mind there was a minor bit of conflicting information on this. Someone looking at a schedule in Osaka or something found some kind of lineup for april that seemed to refute this, but at this point it's been confirmed on both ANN and by the director of the anime himself that it's getting canned. So most seem to think that the reason the schedule still says its ongoing in that one station is because they hadn't updated yet or something.

I'd keep your ears open for any additional news if this pans through, but I certainly wouldn't get your hopes up.

The last manga arc is supposed to last two more years. Now granted, that's a lot shorter than Kubo was quoted as saying, but it's a lot different than just dropping everything at once.

Indeed. Bleach seems to be getting that much leeway, managed to secure enough time to have a decent length arc if Kubo doesn't botch pacing hard again. Far better than to have an unsatisfying ending in like 2 chapters like we see with most of the other series in jump.

However, the point remains. The series which Kubo previously said he had plans for 10 more years of material is being directly told to end in 2. Clearly some kill switch got flipped from the higher ups at some point. Most likely due to the massive drop in popularity it suffered since the abysmal Arrancar arc.

Does anyone know what the name of the hard guitar piece (not the opening) is here?

It sounds pretty good.

Hrm, with Bleach falling hard from the top 3 I wonder what took its place.

Fairy Tail?

In terms of Shonen Jump, Toriko's pretty much taken its place in the 'Holy Shonen Trinity' so to speak. Hard to say how overall popularity works though between magazines.

Fairy Tail is published by Kodansha. Even if it wasn't it wouldn't be in the top three.
