Hm, I'm interested, but the character I have in mind is antisocial, hates traditions (hence why it wouldn't take a japanese name, as seems to be the tradition if Tousen is any indication), doesn't get along well with anyone and has an unusual Zanpakuto (looks like a Western blade instead of the more frequent Eastern ones, and has an entirely passive ability, which nonetheless needs to be set up).

Lemme know if it's OK, I'll post it.

Name: Nakajima Shinichi (?? ?)
Class: dead soul/Shinigami
Age: appears in his mid-twenties; "real age" is probably about 40.
--------------------------------------------------
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 160 lbs
Frame/Shape: Mildly in-shape
Eyes: Black, unremarkable
Hair: Black, slightly messy, 2" long
Skin: Olive-colored
Scars/Marks: A diagonal scar about 3" long from just above the armpit toward the solar plexus
Clothing: Shinigami uniform. In a gigai, black jeans and a white t-shirt ("Welcome to the afterlife" is a typical motto)
--------------------------------------------------
Shikai (undiscovered): "Capture the Foe, Kanshuu!" (?? - lit. 'jailer') - A kusarigama (??); a sickle-and-chain arrangement. Two kama-like sickles attached by a chain. The chain can shorten or lengthen, and can flex or stiffen upon command.
Ishirou (?? - lit 'prison cave'): ?
Kamasu (??? - lit 'to gag'): ?
Bankai (undiscovered): "Bankai. ?name of bankai?" A criss-crossing mass of chains surrounding Shinichi, constantly moving in a complex pattern. In Bankai form, Kanshuu vastly enhances binding kidou, either strengthening it or replicating it across many opponents. Ghostly chains surround the target of such an enhanced kidou. The chains can be wielded in offense or defense as per shikai (albeit without the sickles).
Gokushi (?? - lit. "Death in Jail"): ?
--------------------------------------------------
Sword/Armed Combat: somewhat awkward with a sword; he is, perhaps, more comfortable with other kinds of weapons.
Unarmed Combat: acceptable unarmed combat for an academy graduate.
Movement: his footwork is fairly fast; slightly above the graduate average.
Kidou: his most promising field; while he is about average in destructive kidou, he is well above par with binding kido.
Other Abilities: ? has a quick tactical mind, especially for finding ways of restricting the battlefield and opponents with bakudo and the terrain. However, his follow-up is weaker than it should be, with his average unarmed ability and below-average swordwork. He does not have shikai yet (a source of anxiety for him), but he is, perhaps, closer to learning his zanpakuto's name than he thinks...
--------------------------------------------------
Pre-Academy: ?
Academy: ?
Notable Connections: ?
Ambitions: ?
--------------------------------------------------

A quick sketch, sans biography, which I have to think about.

____________

Name: Azer Grey (Actual name Nicholas Grey)
Class: Alchemically Enhanced Human/Burgeoning Shinigami
Age: 18
Hair: Dark blue, long
Eyes: Green
Height: 6'4"
Weight: Average

Abilities and Powers:

Azer is a Journeyman rank Alchemist. Though highly intelligent and creative, he still has a lot to learn about alchemy, the human paradigm, and the specific art he desires to pursue, Arms Alchemy. Additionally, due to a hollow attack at a young age, he had a Kakugane implanted in his body to allow him to function. In this case, while it does not replace the heart, it acts as a wellspring for his Reiatsu or Soul, which was heavily damaged during the attack. It is expected that he will live forever, barring accidents. Azer's Kakugane is number XXVI.

Additionally, Azer is afforded enhanced strength, speed, and other physical characteristics due to his possession of an implanted Kakugane, as well as a MASSIVE boost to stamina.

Azer's Buso Renkin is the Radiant Arms. A polearm ending in a sword blade. The weapon's special property is that it can focus and release energy. Usually this is used to enhance striking power or strikes, though it has defensive use as well. Azer is currently extremely adept in wielding this weapon. The Weapon is currently in its initial form, as he has not grown enough to release it to its second or third forms.

Biography:

Born to a family of Alchemic Warriors, Azer grew up learning alchemic arts, and eventually dedicated his learning towards it. His main goal in life is to craft the perfect Kakugane, eliminating the difficulties that arise from the evolution of a Grey Kakugane to a White or Grey one.

Azer has had extensive experience fighting Homuncoli, though recently has seen an upswing in the number of hollow attacks in the area. Most of those attacks Azer himself has fought off. At first he merely assumed that these were a new breed of Homonculus, though a call from his supervisor disabused him of that notion. As it is, Azer's standing orders are to continue to combat the Hollow Threat, as there seems to be a sudden absence in Shinigami presence on earth, as well as a downswing in Homunculi activity.

Personality: Azer is a bright young man who, when not being inquisitive and observant, likes to display his feelings through fighting. Until his transfer, Azer would hang out with several human friends, though his current longstanding task has been to infiltrate the Seireitei and find out just what is going on with the Shinigami.

Currently Azer is undercover as young Nicholas Grey, a young chemistry student who died several years ago- though in fact he is physically in the Seireitei. Additionally, due to a certain contact deep within the Shinigami Power Structure, Azer's superiors and classmates believe that due to an accident with a Hollow Attack years ago, 'Nicholas' suffers from damaged Reiatsu control, which explains why even as a 'shinigami' his Reiatsu feels weird, and additionally covers for the fact that he is unable to perform Kido or Hadou. To follow his cover, 'Nicholas' thus focuses extra time on countering Kido, Hadou, and practicing his swordwork.

That said, Azer admits that he rather enjoyed this assignment, and especially enjoyed 'achieving' Shikai, with the simple phrase 'Radiant Arms, TENKAI!' which, due to a slight accent on his part, scared the fuck out of his instructor.

EDIT: My 'contact' within the TFF power structure was totally going to be GenocideHeart. :D

Heh. Really? You don't even know what my character is like... although, it sort of fits that it'd be connected to an alchemist, and that's all I'll say.

I see.

I actually have half a dozen ideas for a PC for me, ranging from 'freaky experiment with mod souls gone wrong by Urahara' to 'random nobody in Rukongai who came into possession of more or less benevolent sentient and/or possessed blade'.

Hey, first post. I usually just lurk for the fanfiction, but this looks pretty interesting. I've never played a forum RPG, and I'm obviously new to this forum, so if my participation sucks or is troublesome in anyway, please say so. I'll stop. Or fix the problem, whatever works.

Name: Katou Sachiko (*last* *first* and a girl's name, to be clear. I don't usually play female characters, but I don't think we have any yet.)
Class: Shinigami
Age: 23 (appearance)

Height: 5'3''
Weight: Sort of rude to ask, but 100 lbs if you have to know
Hair: Black, straight, long. Sachiko doesn't like her hair being long (it gets in her eyes) but she keeps it that way because her mother always insisted she keep it that way, and Sachiko likes to have something to remember her mother by.
Eyes: Dark Brown

Sachiko is hardly a striking beauty, but she would insist that her nose is "adorable" if it, somehow, came up in conversation. Being the studious sort, she has always halfheartedly lamented that her eyesight is quite keen and she does not require glasses.

Abilities: Sachiko's love of learning would make her a natural kido type, but due to a belief that her death could have been avoided if she was a bit more agile and a bit less of a clutz, she has put a lot of effort into hand to hand fighting. Consequently, her abilities are (in order from best to worst):
Hakuda, Kido, Zanjutsu, Houhou, with a notable gap between her ability in Kido and Zanjutsu.

In other words, while compared to other graduates, Sachiko is one of the best at Hakuda and very promising in Kido, her swordsmanship is middling and her flashstep is pathetic.

Now that she's not a clutz, Sachiko is trying to incorporate Kido into her Hakuda style. As for her preferences in kido, she has nothing against blasting or binding, but the more esoteric kido (barriers, weird stuff like the communication and teleportation kido we've seen) hold much more interest for her. She has spent a lot of the time where she was too tired to continue Hakuda practice researching such kido, though she's hardly at the level where she could successfully cast one.

Zanjutsu: 4
Houhou: 2
Hakuda: 9 (Without abundant natural potential)
Kido: 7.5 (With a lot of natural potential)

Zanpakuto: Nijiito, ??(rainbow thread)

Sachiko has not found out her zanpakuto's name, but she has researched meditative techniques to being the process. The one time she reached her inner mindscape (a grassy plane incongruously spotted with bookcases), it took her several minutes to realize the large tree was, in fact, her zanpakuto.

She proceeded to get her and her sword's relationship off on the wrong foot by pointing at it in disbelief and shouting, "My zanpakuto is a friggin' tree?!" Nejiito then pelted her with apples. (For Nejiito, think Silverstein's the Giving Tree, if the Giving Tree was kind of a dick.)

Unreleased: Looks like a standard zanpakuto of appropriate size for Sachiko, except the hilt is wrapped in a shimmering ribbon.

Shikai: "Unravel, nijiito!" The blade of the zanpakuto turns into a long length of reiatsu infused ribbon. Its color can be changed at will, and it can be moved in any way Sachiko pleases. It is more than capable of tripping and entangling opponents, and can even impart significant piercing force if it folds back on itself like a snake and strikes forward all at once.

Despite its physical versatility, it's still a ribbon and so physically attacking is not its strong suit. Nejiito is a kido type. Kido can be cast from any point of the ribbon, allowing for attacks from surprising angles. Also, the color shifting ability can be used to "write out" the chang on the ribbon itself, allowing for the skipping of the verbal chant without losing any (or at least as much) power. It's also possible that using Nejiito in such a way could allow the simultaneous casting of two kido: one from a free hand and one from the ribbon.

Bankai: Shikai creates a limited amount of ribbon. (10 m maybe, if it's thin.) Bankai does the same thing, minus "a limited amount of." The ribbon retains all the properties it had in shikai, but the greatly increased amount allows for many possibilities. It can be wrapped around Sachiko's body to serve as armor, for instance. Also, the color shifting power becomes infinitely more useful as it can be used to basically create illusions.

Biography: Born and raised in Yokohama, Sachiko has always been a curious person. Finding out secrets and figuring out how things work has always appealed to her. She thought she'd love school, imagining it as a place where they told you cool stuff all day, but it quickly disappointed. Sachiko quickly figured out how to pass classes with minimal effort so she would have more time to pursue her own studies. College was much more agreeable than primary education, and Sachiko was in a doctorate program at Todai university when she got run over by a train.

Sachiko didn't mean to get run over. In fact, she was desperately trying to avoid it. Sadly, years of neglecting physical activity to satisfy her own curiosity meant that she wasn't really nimble, and so was not able to stop her forward momentum. And she had a lot of forward momentum from dashing forward and pulling that (stupid, bratty, imbecilic) little boy from the tracks he was about to fall onto. Oh well. Sachiko would feel a lot better about her "heroic" death if she wasn't pretty sure the boy was scarred for life from seeing some random woman get pulped by a train right in front of him.

Well, that's all I got. I hope it's OK. I look forward to playing!

Edit: Numbers added.

GH, go ahead and post your character idea. I'd like to see what your deviant mind could concoct.

As for the new characters, I'll look over them tomorrow, as I just recently finished a 13 hour workday, without any food, and only 2 hours of sleep. :rip1:

daniel gudman:

Kido abilities: WAY too powerful. Considering that you're just graduating from the Academy, I'd say that you would be able to use mid 20s, MAYBE 30/31. Likewise, I'd restrict you're chantless to 10 and lower, and even that isn't perfected yet.

Zanpakto: Once again, the power is a little bit too powerful. You can keep the offensive release at it's current level, (though it should probably be 10th seat and lower) but the defensive release needs to be weakened, since it's the same effect, but not limited to a single enemy.
Hmm, you're prolly right. I was writing that under the assumption that basically kido get more complicated, not more powerful, as the numbers go up, but... well, we've seen that that's not necessarily the case in the last few chapters. We'll drop what he's capable of down to just the 20s, pushing for 30s. I'd like to have more chantless, but chantless at 10 and lower.

As for the Zanpakuto... I think I'll get rid of "defensive release" entirely, it made the mechanism a little too complicated. So now the only release ability is sealing away someone else's special/unique powers, and only around 10th seat and weaker right now.

Took me awhile, but I finally got my idea put down onto 'paper'. Hope it looks good enough for you guys.

------

Name: Ryota Takahiro
Class: Shinigami
Age: 75, though he appears in his late 20's

Physical Stats:
Height: 6'1
Weight: 210 lb
Hair: Dark Green with black highlights, which he prefers to keep spiked back
Eyes: Blue
Facial features: A pair of round, wire rim glasses are the only things on his face (aside from his hair) that really stick out. They have a small chip in the right lens, but he prefers not to do anything about it.
Other: He has three long marks along his back, very much looking like something had clawed into him rather roughly. Of course, he prefers to keep that to himself.

Personality: He's a friendly and fairly amiable fellow, but becomes rather quiet around people he dosen't know all that well. When he finally does warm up to you, it'll be hard to find someone that is as willing to watch your back as Ryota is. You also find out he has a staunch stubborn streak, and can be downright bullheaded at times.

Abilities:
Hado/Kido: Unfortunately, his skill in the Kido arts is lacking, knowing about the first 10 to 15 of them, though those last five are rather spotty in terms of the incantation.

Hohou: You won't see him winning any running contests any time soon.

Hakuda: It's about average, much to his irritation, but he endeavors to improve.

Zanjutsu: He is a capable swordsman, considering how recently he has graduated from the Academy. He has a natural knack with the blade, which he does his best to keep honed.

Zanpakuto: Shioryoushi (Tide Hunter)
Its unreleased state has the same shape as a normal zanpakuto, though the hilt is circular with lines along the tsuba that spiraled around and lead to the center.
Shikai: "Stalk the current, Shioryoushi!"
This is the released form of his zanpakuto, though the blade is actually 3 ft in length and the hook portion is jutting out a wider angle then the pic shows. The ability of this sword allows him to create bursts of water around himself or within a 15 ft radius. He usually uses this ability in a defensive manner, making it difficult to see him while he moves to take advantage of his enemies blindness, but can also use those waves to crash down on his opponent.
The problem with this powerful water-type sword is that he can't control it as well as he wants to. The waves are either small or unnecessarily large, which can hurt allies along with the enemy. Thus lots of practice with his weapon in that regard.

Bankai: "Unshakable lord of the ocean; Shioryoushi!"
He hasn't reached this level by any means, so details of this Bankai aren't available at this time.

Zanpakut Personality: While most zanpakut take the form of humans, Shioryoshi much prefers the shape of a 20+ ft long shark with a white underbelly and dark blue skin. What stands out even more about this creature are the steel gray bull-like horns that jut from its head.
It's a smug and proud sword, trying to goad his wielder into digging deeper and reaching farther in order for them to crush whatever's in their way. Afterall, he won't let anyone but the strongest have the honor of wielding a sword like him.

Biography: Unlike others, he dosen't recall the life he lived before his death. What he does know is growing up in the 20th district, slowly working his way out of the rural village with eyes on the Seireitei. Old ambitions drive him, along with promises he made to those he loved.
Who were such people? That's not for you to worry about.
What happened to them? Enough for him to realize that he needed strength in order to change anything.
So he trained for several years, learning how to use a sword before entering the Academy. And now that he's managed to graduate, he intends to use his skill to keep growing to be as strong as he possibly can.

Looks a bit overpowered. You seem capable of matching people in their specialties, without any real weaknesses in skills(maybe hand to hand, but you didn't say anything about that.)

Tone down the power a bit. You can keep ONE skill at its current level and weaken everything else significantly, or you can downgrade everything to lesser degree, and be an above average shinigami.

I'm kinda surprised that no one has chosen something other than shinigami. I guess none of the other available classes offer the variety that a zanpakto does.

Hmm? What do you mean? There's me and the guy who made an Alchemist a'la Buso Renkin I believe.

And with some creativity, you can do a lot with the enpowered human/Quincy abilites... the problem lies in keeping the power levels down and monitering the jumps carefully...

Keep that newspaper handy. :(

Can't believe I forgot about you guys...

Mr. Alchemist might take some plot wrangling, but I'll figure something out when it comes up I guess.

Edit: Since no one is playing a Mod Soul (yet) I'll probably create several NPC Mod Souls to act as support for you guys. Actually, that would probably be best, since as NPCs, there's no reason for them to get uber power ups like PCs, ad don't need to go and get upgraded.

Still, I'll keep that option open for people, in case someon has a burning desire to be a Mod Soul.

The character I'm making, actually, is an experimental close-combat Mod Soul that Urahara was developing, and he decided to shove it in a stillborn baby's body to see if it worked.

The Mod Soul ended up grafted to that body and lived out life as a normal human until its 'death', since its experimental-ness kind of screwed things up. It's also why my character is extremely proficient at close combat, but stinks at everything else, including interpersonal interaction.

It was quite literally built to fight at close range with extreme efficiency and little else, but living as a human kinda mutated it, and it has a pseudo-Zanpakuto as a result. It's physically incapable of achieving anything higher than Shikai, and its Shikai tends to be entirely passive, but it's very strong in close combat. That sums it up.

No, Kisuke is not a saint. The mess with Rukia shows he is not above making dubiously moral (at best) calls. ANd I can see him trying such an experiment. After all, it's not hurting anyone! Not that it's any less immoral...

I'll post the full details asap. Still working some kinks out...

Not a problem. I'll shear down the power levels to be better in the zanjutsu class. Didn't mean to make it seem overpowered.

I added a rating of my character's ablilities assuming the average do-it-all shinigami graduate is around 7/10 in zanjutsu/hakuda/hohou/kido. I hope it'll be clearer that way.

I'll also be adding links to the drawings of my character as soon as I'm done with them...which may be long if i start being lazy.

I added similar ratings. That was a really good idea, Eyes.

Also, do you know about when you will approve/disapprove our characters zerohour? I'm just curious is all. I don't mind waiting, but I don't like waiting not having any idea when I'll be waiting until. Hope that makes sense.

Name: Morino Tsubaki
Class: Shingami
Age: 87 (looks 18-ish)

Physical Stats:
Height: 6'
Weight: 220lbs
Hair: long straight and blue-black
Eyes: One blue and one brown
Facial features: Sharp features that give no question as to his masculinity, fair skin and a slight goatee.
Other: a single tattoo on his back, a depiction of Yggdrasil (The World Tree) He usually wears a wide-brimmed straw hat that hides most of his features.

Personality: the words "Creepy as hell" are often used to describe him, but he mostly just likes to sit beneath a tree and think. he likes to come out of nowhere as often as possible to see the reactions he gets when people finally realize he's there. In private he loves fear, the feeling of it, the ability to cause it and ther helplessness that comes with it. he loves to have control over others through fear, though other forms of control are acceptable, he still prefers fear.

Abilities:
Hadou/Bakudo: Arguably what he's best at. he prefers Bakudo spells to Kidou simply because of the fear caused by being bound and helpless. he can cast Bakudo spells into the mid-30s range, and has up to level 8 mastered chantless, and Kidou is only slightly behind. (7 out of 10-Bakudo, 6 out of 10- Hadou)

Hohou: below Average. his Shunpo maxes out at 10 steps on a good day, and he has no chaining ability whatsoever. he's working on it, but it's not a high priority for him. (4/10)

Hakuda: He is crap at Hakuda. he might be able to hit the brouad side of a Hollow and maybe even hurt it if he takes about five minutes to analyze the how's and why-fors... he only barely passed the requirements...

Zanjutsu: His second best skill, he's able to wield his Zanpakutou with reasonable proficiency considering he just graduated from the Academy. (5 out of 10 tops)

Zanpakuto: Obake Mori (Goblin Forest)
In it's normal Sealed form it appears as a normal Katana, with elaborate vine-etchings over most of the blade's surface.

Shikai: His Zanpakutou allows for some minor control of local plant-life, but the real power is in that, while the blade actually transforms into a willow-wood bokken, it can still cut as though it were steel, and causes psychosomatic damage via visions of fear and terror implanted into the minds of his opponents. opponents who have somehow immunized themselves to fear or can lessen the effects of it take less damage from these visions.
one of the more advanced abilities (AKA: one he has yet to figure out) is the ability to plant seeds through the sword that slowly sap their life away, making them feel weak and tired.

Bankai: Should it ever become appropriate, Obake Mori will reveal it's Bankai to it's partner as being a physical manifestation of it's spiritual self. imagine if you will, that forest from your childhood that made everyone run in terror, or that house that everyone said was haunted. perhaps the witch under the stairs? what Obake Mori does is take the personal fears of those it's wielder if fighting and turns those feelings into an almost palpable aura, overlaying the local area with the image of a Haunted Wood from old stories meant to keep children in line, and planting the fear inside the targets mind, allowing their own imagination to slow their movements at the branches seem to reach out and grasp at them, sounds distract them as they hear voices muttering about how good they would taste, and at the very center of the vast, maze-like forest, is the personification of their fears. if it's a place, it looms ominously, while if it's a person, it will actively hunt them, and the target knows this.
(As i said, it's a Bankai. aka: Ain't likely in the near or even mid-way distant future.)

Zanpakut Personality: Much like it's Wielder, it loves fear. causing it, dominating others through it, the feel, the taste the smell of it. Obake Mori is personified often at the center of the same vast forest it would create upon being released in Bankai, often appearing as some form or another that would cause humans fear. not in the sense of some horrific monster, though it's not ruled out, but more often than not some kind of creeping fear that lingers in the heart and makes people wonder why they were so afraid of them. when speaking to Tsubaki he/she/it/they often manifest as an old crone, much like one from some of the Grimm Brothers fairy tales. if he comes asking for advice or any kind of question she'll generally give him a sound beat-down before answering in some cryptic fashion meant to give him the answer that would cause him the most fear, or be able to cause the most fear, if he/she/it/they answer at all.
he/she/it/their actual form is the forest itself.

Biography: Born and raised in Rukongai, he grew up knowing he was different. no one else liked the fear or shock of others as much as he did. he would find spiders and put them in girls' hair for the shits and giggles of it, he'd pop out of nowhere to scare people when no one thought he would... he generally stops the truly scary stuff once he gets on speaking terms with someone, but otherwise...

EDIT: Better? i changed a couple of things... let me know if i need to tweak it more.

Once again, one down the power a little bit. You have everything above average, with even higher Kido and Sword proficiency.

Alright, that makes a total of...10 players, (11 if GH plays as well) so I think I'm going to close the character application. I don't want this getting too unweildy to run, so I'm trying to limit the numbers.

If I get a couple of people to help me GM this, we can probably have more people, though the GMs will haved to discuss how we'd go about running the whole thing.

I guess that means we have an open slot, without needing an extra GM (though it wouldn't hurt ;) .)

Name: Seibetsu Machigau (last first)
Class: Shinigami/Mod Soul
Age: Unknown, though judging by his personality, in the mid 20's, appearence-wise. In human years, however, he's around 170 years old.

Physical Stats: ....he's a pill. A small, red pill.

Abilities: Magnetism.

Biography: For Seibetsu Machigau, life (or rather, death) was always about serving his taichou. Not directly, of course. He was nowhere near gaining the seat of fuka-taichou of the 12th Division. But he still had shikai, and procedded to exterminate Hollows whenever the chance came, or as well as a lowly 9th seat could. He held his head high on the streets, and had little to worry about.

However, all that changed. A group of members from varying divisions were sent out to wipe out what had been observed as a gathering of Hollows. They had no information on the power levels, bounties, or ages of any of the Hollows. They arrived. Spread out. And were abruptly massacred. A Hollow with a bounty of 7500 had been hiding out there, along with several others with smaller bounties. They never stood a chance.

It ended with multiple higher seated Shinigami showing up and saving the survivors' hides. However, because of the extent of his injuries and low rietsu, Machigau was unable to recover from his wounds, and ended up stripped of his position and confined to a bed for the rest of his days.

That is, until the Spearhead project. Mod Souls had been created, and tested. Souls were taken in the dead of night to be forced as expermientees for the project. Such was his fate. Captured by members of the 12th Division, he was taken into the labs, and the tests began. The end result was with him gaining magnetic abilities, as an offshoot from his Shinigami day lightning-oriented Bakudo.

He stayed entrapped in the small sphere until it managed to wind up in the shop of... Kisuke Urahara.

Personality: Originally very loyal to his taichou and to authority in general, his attitude and ideas were skewed when he was stolen away for the Spearhead project by his own division. Now, he hold a deep disgust for Soul Society, and can't stand being ordered around. His defiant persona makes him hard to work with, as well as creating various blockages when it comes to gaining his trust.
