It seems that despite my best intentions, I have become a victim of the most hated Trekism, that is the state in which a writer over explains concepts or events unnecessarily. I intend to make an effort to rectify this in future chapters, beginning now. At some point I will go back and re-write the parts of previous chapters that exhibit Trekism, hopeful removing my shame.

Thanks everyone for your input so far, it really helps to see the areas I need to improve.

ôAlright class, itÆs time to review for tomorrowÆs test. As such everyone line up at the front of the class to review the Henge no Jutsu.ö

The class let out a loud groan as they descended from their desks to line up in front of Iruka-sensei. With the Genin exam being held tomorrow, most students wanted and expected today to be a day of relaxation, not more work. They should have known better.

Looking across his class lined up before him, Iruka felt proud of his students. Each one had come a long way in the time he had been teaching them. A sense of accomplishment filled him at the sight of KonohaÆs future and the knowledge that he had taken part in shaping the young soon to be shinobi before him. There was no doubt in his mind that they all would pass tomorrowÆs test and become Genin.

Calling each student forward to perform the Henge, Iruka examined each studentÆs attempt at transforming into an exact image of him and pointed out a few minor details that would assist them in making a more effective transformation in the future. On the whole, only praise at recognising these slight details was given, raising the studentÆs moral at their teacherÆs approval.

At least until the end of the line was reached and Uzumaki Naruto stepped forward to perform the technique.

ôHenge no Jutsu.ö

The name of the technique passed the boyÆs lips in an amused whisper. In a puff of smoke the red eyed Academy student disappeared, revealing a naked, obviously natural strawberry blond woman with a mischievous light dancing in her red eyes.

The eruption of blood that spurted from IrukaÆs nose was truly spectacular to witness.

ôUzumaki Naruto, donÆt perform such pointless techniques!ö

Naruto just laughed at his teacherÆs outburst as he released the technique.

ôPervert.ö

A seething Iruka quickly assigned cleaning duty as punishment to his favourite student.

Naruto had changed a lot over the years since his early admission to the academy, a darker humour taking the place of his carefree childishness as he grew older. During that time he had become famous amongst those in the village as the local prankster, so good at it in fact that although everyone knew when they had fallen victim to one of his pranks there was either no possible way to tie him to the event or someone else was given the blame through his machinations.

Unfortunately, due to his unique learning method, it had taken him three years longer than normal for him to reach the point at which he was prepared to take the Genin exam. Even now he struggled with some techniques.

Iruka observed Naruto as he washed down the chalkboard carefully. Today he was wearing his normal shinobi gear, long black pants tied off at the ankles, black ninja sandals, black shirt with the sleeves torn off over a short sleeved netted shirt, a red ninja vest over the top, a grey camouflage bandana covering the top of his head, and his normal metal plated fingerless gloves with the strange symbol carved into them finishing of his ensemble. A kunai holster was located at the base of his spine.

All in all it was an unusual image to see such a serious looking potential ninja cleaning up a classroom. Though Naruto was anything but serious most of the time.

ôHey Naruto, if you finish this up quickly IÆll take you out to Ichiraku's for dinner.ö

Needless to say, Naruto was on his way to dinner ten minutes later.

ôHey Oyaji, IÆll take a miso with the works.ö

Teuchi turned from his place at the stove to see his favourite customer, a smile spreading across his face at the site of NarutoÆs lopsided grin.

ôEh, not even a hello? Why should I serve such a rude brat?ö

Naruto grinned wider as he replied.

ôBecause if you donÆt IÆll just have to elope with your daughter. That way I will get all the ramen I want.ö

ôOnly if Okaa-san didnÆt kill us for not inviting her to the wedding.ö

Ayame teased as she emerged from the back of the stall with a smile on her face.

ôHi Ayame-chan.ö

ôItÆs good to see you Naruto-kun, I havenÆt seen you for over a week. DonÆt you like me any more?ö

Naruto reached across the counter and took AyameÆs had in his own and brought it to his lips in a tender kiss, causing the playful girl to blush.

ôOf course not Ayame-chan. But they say time apart makes the heart grow fonder, and truly the site of your beauty is the fondest image of my heart, to spend my days with you my fondest thought and desire.ö

Naruto spoke confidently, his lop-sided grin smaller and more sincere, the barest flash of fang visible. Ayame was rendered speechless, mouth flopping open and closed as she stammered and blushed furiously, her hand held gently in his, his thumb gently caressing her knuckles.

Teuchi and Iruka chuckling broke the pair from their moment, Ayame blushing furiously and slightly breathless and the light of mischief dancing in NarutoÆs eyes.

ôYou really shouldnÆt tease Ayame so much Naruto, your spoiling her for other men.ö

ôThat just means IÆm more deserving than they are.ö

A sudden smack to the back of his head from Ayame nearly caused Naruto to fall of his chair.

ôWhat was that for?!ö

Ayame hmphed in response, crossing her arms over her chest.

ôIf you donÆt know IÆm certainly not going to tell you.ö

With that she stuck out her tongue childishly.

Happy banter filled the air as the almost-family enjoyed their time together before the day came to a close.

Sitting in his apartment, thinking about the test tomorrow, Naruto conversed with one of the many he considered family.

æDo you think I will be able to pass?Æ

æYes.Æ

The absolute manner in which Dracula spoke made it seem as a forgone conclusion.

æEnough of this pointless prattle, you have training to do. No heir of mine will be a weakling.Æ

æThen you have nothing to worry about.Æ

Dracula chuckled.

æYou may have begun the journey to becoming a True Nosferatou, the next No Life King, but you have a long way to go. Right now you are barely at the level of a ghoul, only your senses and rate of healing have increased, barely more than human. Do not become complacent.Æ

With that Dracula began to put Naruto through his paces, exercising martial forms and going over complex battle strategies well into the night.

Truly, there is no rest for the wicked.

Sunlight shone through the window of NarutoÆs home, casting its light onto the sleeping boyÆs face and slowly awakening him from his slumber. Looking at his bedside clock, Naruto was quickly on his feet, dressed and racing to the kitchen for some breakfast, scarfing down a bowl of cereal in the hopes of getting to the Academy on time for his test.

He arrived just in time, walking through the door as Iruka was beginning to explain the rules for the test and getting a hard look for his tardiness.
___________________________________________________________________

It was finally NarutoÆs turn to take the Genin exam. Walking into the examination room Naruto observed the examiners, Iruka and Mizuki, seated behind a desk covered with several Konoha forehead protectors.

ôAlright Naruto, in order to pass the exam all you have to do is form three perfect bunshin. You may begin when ready.ö

NarutoÆs trademark lopsided smirk made itself known as he placed his hands together into the ram seal and placed chakra into the technique.

ôBunshin no Jutsu.ö

Just as he released the chakra into the technique, one which he had only recently mastered and had been his worst technique for some time, a sudden pain shooting through his abdomen caused his control to slip slightly.

As the smoke cleared two deformed clones that looked like they came straight from a nightmare stook next to Naruto.

ôIÆm sorry Naruto but you fail.ö

ôBut Iruka, surely we could give him one more attempt. We both know he is capable of performing the technique.ö

ôNo Mizuki, a ninja must be able to use their techniques regardless of circumstances otherwise they are unreliable.ö

Naruto simply nodded his head in understanding as he walked out of the examination room and left the school. Seeing the students that passed the test being greeted and congratulated by family and friends, Naruto hopped up into the canopy of a nearby tree. Seating himself on a thick branch, one leg dangling in the air, right forearm resting on raised knee, Naruto leant his head back and listened to the sounds nearby.

æWhat have you learned?Æ

æNever allow myself to be distracted.Æ

æThat is a good lesson, but just as good is not drinking spoilt milk.Æ

Naruto chuckled softly at the joke before turning his head to the side.

ôMizuki-sensei, shouldnÆt you be helping Iruka-sensei organise Genin teams?ö

If the Chuunin was surprised at being sensed so quickly he gave no sign. Standing on a branch slightly above and to the left of Naruto, Mizuki smiled companionably.

ôNaruto, how would you like to become a Genin, tonight?ö
__________________________________________________________________

æHe was lying.Æ

Jumping across the rooftops in the afternoon light, Naruto was barely more than a red and black coloured blur to the villagers below.

æI know, it was kind of obvious. The Hokage would never let such a powerful technique scroll to be used in a test, and the guy practically shouted out he was going to betray me with the way he was acting. He has no fear of me telling anyone because a respected teacherÆs word against Alucard? There is no competition in the eyes of the village.Æ

As a matter of fact Naruto knew that no one was permitted to read the Scroll of Forbidden Seals without the express permission and supervision of the Hokage himself, which is exactly why Naruto was going to go through with MizukiÆs plan.

æI can steal the scroll, make a copy, use an equipment scroll to hide the copy, kill Mizuki as a traitor and return the original to Ojii-san. Then, learn as much as I can from the copied scroll at leisure before destroying it.Æ

Dracula smiled widely at the plan, mirroring NarutoÆs current expression, looking forward to the upcoming bloodshed
__________________________________________________________________

æDamn, no wonder that technique is forbidden.Æ

æYes, with this technique a single man could become an army of disposable soldiers. A talented fighter could conquer nations single handed with that and the Bakuhatsu variation.Æ

After taking a look at the first technique listed in the Scroll of Forbidden Seals, the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, and reading the theory and effects of the Jutsu, Naruto decided it may just be the most powerful ninja technique he had ever heard of. If he learnt it, it would only take about five minutes to copy the entire scroll, absorbing any knowledge and understanding of the techniques that the clones might have picked up in the process once they were dispelled.

æWhoever came up with this technique was a geniusàÆ
__________________________________________________________________

Naruto stood panting in the middle of the clearing where he was to meet Mizuki, the stolen scroll rolled up at his feet.

æThat is going to take some time to get used to.Æ

He could hear Dracula laughing in the background.

æMore than worth the effort, Fishcake.Æ

Naruto smirked, thinking of the possibilities his new favourite technique held. Now all he had to do was develop a method of sorting the various memories he received from the clones into something he could use. With Dracula being able to observe his mind from an outside perspective and guide him though, it was only a matter of time before he found an effective solution.

ôHey Iruka-sensei, I completed a Jutsu from the scroll. That makes me a Genin right?ö

Iruka was surprised that his favourite student had managed to sense him so quickly. Shaking it of as irrelevant, Iruka jumped into the clearing to speak to the now fully recovered Naruto.

ôNaruto, who told you that?ö

ôIt was Mizuki-sensei, isnÆt that right, Sensei?ö

A rustle came from the tree-canopy in the direction Naruto was looking, Mizuki quickly becoming visible as he stepped into the moonlight, a malicious grin on his features.

ôIndeed it is my student. It seems you already figured out that this is a trap, so just give up the scroll before I kill you both.ö

ôMizuki, why? Why would you betray Konoha like this?!ö

Mizuki just laughed as he took one of the giant shuriken from his back and hurled it towards Naruto in a single motion. Iruka barely managed to head the blade off in time, taking a serious but non fatal wound to his back for his foolishness.

ôPower! With the techniques in that scroll, I could obtain the power of a Kage! And by killing the No Life brat, the village will see me as a hero!ö

Looking over IrukaÆs wounded form, struggling to stand. Mizuki looked into the face of Naruto, slightly unnerved to see an insane grin on his face, bloodlust clear in his crimson eyes.

æDamn, the Nosferatou brat looks ready to fight. If he really learned a technique from that scroll, IÆm going to need an advantage.Æ

His course of action decided, the traitor put his plan into action.

ôNo one would miss the son of Dracula anyway; the entire village hates you Naruto, even Iruka. After all, it was your father, sealed inside of you that killed his parents! YouÆre a monster! Just the same as Dracula!ö

A fist suddenly appearing in his gut caused him to double over in pain, gasping for breath.

æHow did he move so fast?Æ

Mizuki barely had time to think before he was pummelled mercilessly by a dozen Naruto, striking at him from all sides. As he lay, beaten and bloodied on the edge of unconsciousness, the real Naruto knelt beside him, dispelling his Kage Bunshin.

ôI know, but for flaunting SandaimeÆs law, for betraying Konoha, your life is forfeit.ö

With that, Naruto grabbed hold of Mizuki and pulled him up by the head and shoulder, sinking his fangs into the traitorÆs neck and drawing deep, until all that was left was a dried husk.

ôNaruto, come over here.ö

Letting his former senseiÆs exsanguinated corpse fall to the ground, Naruto turned with a curious look on his face and walked over to where Iruka was leaning against a tree, having crawled there during MizukiÆs beating to patch up his wound.

ôHere, I think youÆve earned this.ö

NarutoÆs lopsided smirk once again appeared, revealing traces of blood on his teeth and fangs as he accepted the forehead protector his sensei handed him.

It was certainly an exceptional class of Genin this year.

æTomorrow will be interesting indeed.Æ
_________________________________________________________________

Well unfortunately IÆve been having a stressful week (blame my boss, it gets me off the hook) so I havnÆt been able to update daily. I suck. But on the upside I managed to use exsanguinated in a sentence, go me! Anyway, I hope you like the story so far, rest assured this is one fic with vamps that will have no Yaoi, no male-male romance at all. It was partly because I canÆt stand all that male-male fangirl vampire crap in the Naruto fandom at fanfiction.net that I started writing this.

Remember all, your input is apreciated. My aim is to improve after all.

Interesting... however I think Iruka was a little too calm at the end.

Him not thinking Naruto is Alucard is fine, up until that point. After seeing him drain a human of their blood, leaving an 'exsanguinated corpse,' well... I think that opinion might be on shaky ground. He was just too unphased by having witnessed what he did, regardless of being a ninja... other ninjas don't go around sucking corpses dry.

This does, however, leave me wondering how Naruto will react to Anko at the second exam. She licks his blood, he gets excited and plants one on her, she becomes his greatest stalker... err, I meant admirer. :D

Yes, that could be a very interesting situation.

Interesting.

I, too, look forward to seeing him interact with Anko.

Gotta agree with Mysterious here.

To be honest, things are running way close to canon in spite of the diferences, not too happy about that, but it is overlookeable. however, Iruka's reaction, nope, either needs context or need something else.
Ninja or no ninja seeing somebody get drained.... nope....

has nobody ever heard of shock? i think that if someone you considered a little brother just went and defeated someone better than you (filler episodes of the anime reveal mizuki was superior in skill to iruka), and then drank their blood as a method of execution, you might get a little shell shocked at witnessing it all. :sisi:

hence several events occur next chapter which make this seem less out of character for iruka, as well as explaining why some events have stayed so close to the origional storyline (like oiroke no jutsu-on a side note, what is the harem version called? i can't remember. or mabye i confused the two.) :huh.:

anyway, i hope that makes sense, but i understand that it might not flow as well as i originally thought, since i forgot to take my meds for a few days beforehand and suffered from a day and a half long migrane. the two may have been related perhaps? :huh.:

reguardless, i start working on the next chap tomorrow. hopefully i can get back to the one chap per day that i started out with. fingers crossed. :yay:

At the point where Iruka was talking to Naruto? No... because you didn't show it. For shock to be an applicable reason, you have to show Iruka being in shock... otherwise it's just an excuse after the fact.

The harem version was called Harem no jutsu, far as I know

too true, but then i intend to make that very obvious in the next chap. truthfully, this chap was meant to contain the first scene of the chap i am currently writing, which makes such obvious. that just seemed like a better place to end the chap to me though so i didn't include it. :headbanger: i won't make that mistake again, hopefully....
