This is an alternate Kingdon Hearts, with or without the Disney, although I enjoyed some of the worlds, and warping Disney to be more adult has some appeal.

There are three friends.

These three are so close, that not only do they talk about running away and sailing in search of adventure, the build a boat and plan out how and when they're going to leave.

They're best friends, possibly more than that.

And they had all shared the Paupu fruit.

They're close, knit together in their very souls.

And when darkness comes to the Islands, they stand as one.

Sword, Shield, Staff.

Three lights in the darkness.

And when they wake, They find themselves in a strange place, cobbled from the broken remnants of a thousand worlds, populated by those with the skill, strength or sheer luck to survive.

But even this place is rife with darkness.

The universe is vast, and the Darkness is great.

But always remember, You hold the most powerfull weapons of all.

It's an interesting idea... the three of them being so close and possibly taking the Deep Dive together because of it... an interesting thought.

One thing to think about on this is who gets what.

Following the usual trope.

Younger, happy type male gets the sword.

Older, solid type male is the tough defender, shield.

Cute girl gets the magic so she can stay in the back and not get dirty until her inevitable capture.

But could one justifiably change that around without fucking with the characters?

Young Guy becomes Dark Schneider-Magic
Old Guy becomes Musashi-Sword
Girl becomes Genie (Rune Soldier Louie)-Shield

<_< uh, right, about the whole avoiding complete character destruction...

Sora, 14 years old generally happy, fairly kind. A bit to naive for his own good.

Rikku, 15 tough, decisive, a bit too stubborn, a little mean but generally a good guy. A wee bit to trusting.


Kairi, 14 far to nice for her own good, even more sticklike in appearance than the other two, and as far as cannon tells us, didn't really participate in the scuffles and mock sword duels like the others.

hmm, well, having mulled over this off and on for the last few months, Shout's suggested choices actually make for interesting characterization, though not for the reasons he gives.

So after speaking with several people, all of them far better writers than I, here's what I have so far as a working base.

Kairi Chose the Shield, and gave up the Staff.

Riku chose the Sword, and gave up the Shield

Sora chose the Staff, and gave up the Sword

None of them talk about their Deep Dives.

Neo-Gotham

Agrabah

Prester

Juraika

Land of Dragons (needs a better name)

Atlantis

Emberverse

End of the World

World the Never Was

Obviously most of these will have alternate canons than in their respective originals.
