Bleach Boredom, a BLEACH fic?

#1
Hi.

I've got a kind of prologue-y thing that's just kinda collecting dust on my hard drive. It's really kind of good, even hints at a plot of some sort, though if I ever had one it's long forgotten.

Just letting some fresh eyes and imaginations look over it to see if a comment or two might spark some kind of idea to continue it. Otherwise? Meh.

(It's been forever since I've been on any kind of forum, so I've forgotten how to get something into bold and italics, so the impact on some parts may or may not be lost. >.<)

~

Bored: (Adjective) Tired and impatient:
1: To be tired of and slightly annoyed by a person or situation that is not interesting, exciting, or entertaining.
2: To be uninterested due to frequent exposure or indulgence.
3: To be tired of the world.

The war with Aizen ended five years ago, and many of the wistful and ignorant thought that the peace would last forever. It had taken a lot of getting used to, after all, with the number of Hollows trickling down to next to nothing.

But as always, there were souls that were not gotten to by a shinigami in time, ones who were passed over and left to fester and rot, their heart and what was left of their humanity wasting away into the ever hungry void that transformed them into something else. Something ugly.

The absence of that kind of everyday horror left some true and through shinigami all to happy.

And, after time, left a lot more bored.

The humans who helped in the war moved on with their lives, they finished school, they aged, they found work and some made homes for themselves. Even Ichigo. The one who nobody could even fathom for a second to not be the main hero in some kind of battle, the one who, in the very back of your mind, you believed to always be the strongest. The one who secret bets and wagers were made on, saying he would win in a battle against even the captain commander.

The hero. The savior. The human.

But, alas, Ichigo was just that. Human.

He was bound to the living world, still attached to his family, his friends, his studies and now, his job and as the days and years passed, he grew older. The peace in mundane life left him out of shape, left him week.

Now a days, the bets were more along the lines of who would win in a battle between him and Ukitake.

As time continued to pass, stories of Ichigo and his friend's adventures in, against and with Sereitei changed bit by bit, evolving to seem just a little more grander as it passed from every mouth to ear.

And when curious young shinigami's curiosity finally sent them on their way to the human world, just to get a glimpse at the warrior of ledgened...

They found a regular, boring human speaking loudly to a room full of students while he recited to them a history lesson.

The shock of seeing someone who had been told to be next to god so... normal... left many angry and bored. Eager to deduce the stories as lies and to return home to Sereitei, to speak the truth of Ichigo Kurosaki.

None of them ever noticed that even though Ichigo was facing a blackboard or a group of half-interested students, his eyes were always sharply following the souls in black.

Boredom, unfortunately, was universal.

It wasn't a trait found only in humans, it wasn't reserved only for shinigami, either. Hollows felt it, and when they did, they acted. The trail of destruction and gore that often followed after them was usualy when the monster was hungry or bored or perhaps even both.

Shinigami quickly realized in their careers that when bored hollows went for food, there was usually more blood.

And so, this is how our story begins.

With boredom.

Kind of an interesting way to start a fic. I'll reserve my opinion for the moment until more is available for consumption.

This is relavent to my interest, continue.

I always thought that boredom would strike after Aizen. I mean, the big bad is taken care of, and so are the powerful hollows, I guess. What happens now?

So, which of his harem did Ichigo eventually wind up with? I doubt Nel would give him up, and given how Orihime's attempted to start a polyamourous relationship with him before...

One thing I've always wondered is how would Ichigo really manage to live in human society. A guy who spends his time increasing spiritual power and fighting century-old soul eating monsters before he's even 18 doesn't seem likely to have a normal life.

I don't think invading Hell would help. The hollows would still be bored.

Well, I honestly don't think invading Hell would be too great of an idea. With the way Bleach works, usually hell has to invade first, kidnap someone, THEN it would get invaded in efforts to retrieve said friend.

And honestly, I don't think I have the imagination or talent to portray Hell. T_T

Hrm... why not have some kind of arc about mod-souls? I haven't read a really good story about a (serious) Kon yet. He's one of my favorite characters and I loved how in his introduction, before he became a comic relief, he was so serious about his beliefs.

I also completely ignore the anime after the Bount arc, so if there ever was a follow up arc involving any significance to them, I totally missed it. >.>

What do you guys think?

write whatever comes to mind and write enough. Eventually the plot will form in your head.

Then use it as your muse. Have a new vice-captain (or Captain) bored, angry, and frustrated with the stories of the indefeatable Ichigo, and starting a small war.

Here's a suggestion, have the Captains mingling after a Captain's meeting when somebody(Kenpachi would probably be best) brings up Ichigo saying something like 'man it's been so boring without any good fights, when Ichigo showed up he brought plenty of fights', the bored person listens for a while before s/he snaps and reveals they went down to earth to check him out, and reaveals their dissapointment with derision. The other Captains decide 'hey let's visit Ichigo and have him fight this guy so we aren't so bored/whatever excuse you can think of'.

Hope this helps.

Shinigami should learn that not all is what it appears to be. He might be out of practice, but he didn't have all that much experience in the first place. And it's not like spiritual muscles fade with age. Just look at Yamamato. They see an old man. But we see a powerhouse waiting to be let out of an old body.

I know I'm going to start an argument with this but I really am curious. Does Ichigo's spirit age? Cause I know he has a body but the chain of fate has been disconnected so does his spirit age?

that is interesting. since his chain of fate has been seperated is he just wearing his body like a gigai?

In my head-cannon, yes. TECHNICALLY Ichigo is dead since Urahara severed his soul chain, and is wearing his body like a gigai. (For all we know, Kisuke could've buried Ichigo's corpse in that underground training area and fashioned him a permanent gigai like what Isshin has, and just didn't tell him in efforts to escape the shit-storm that would surely follow upon informing the poor red-headed sap.)

I also hate it when characters are healed through magic or whatever means so that the artist doesn't have to keep drawing new scars. From all the times that Ichigo's had his shoulders shredded and he was impaled, I try to mention that his spirit gets them, and so does his real body. I would like to point out that after Ichigo's soul chain was severed, the scars mysteriously disappeared.

Before soul was severed, also the last time I remember ever seeing his scars. From what I recall, also, they were completely omitted from the anime.

Heroes don't scar. But they keep old ones. Or gain important ones. But Ichigo isn't going to keep many scars.

ichigo still had his scars when he was fighting Kenpachi.
