this idea is up for grabs not very detailed but i like it
this is pre-academy
naruto on his birthday running form a mob leaves the village walls(not a fic where he leaves kohona) and he comes across a farmer an old man with a bow as he sees the man shoot a crow out of the air with it he proceeds to tell him how cool that is in his typical hyperactive fashion the old man invited him to eat with him naruto ask the reason for the mans kindness he tells naruto that he lost a son that naruto reminds him of in kyubbi attack(the old man doesn't know who naruto is ) after some talking
the man gives naruto his grandsons bow(along with some arrows) and tells him to come back occasionally so he can show him how to use it
naruto having received no or few gifts in his life keeps on his back at pretty much all times after some lessons or not depending the author naruto has the mizuki incident
which goes according to cannon except after spams his clones the mizuki a pin cushion a very very dead pin cushion after that i don't have any idea
i would leave to see naruto on a heavy assault team(kiba him lee) or sum such but eeh that's the authors choice just a rusty idea please use
the bow i see as being a very good ninja weapon for several reasons
1range -farther than a kunia
2power-hit harder than a kunia
3it was used by ninjas -see Ninjutsu HISTORY AND TRADITION Dr. Massaki Hatasumi page 148-150
and naruto can make 100s of himself to shoot with any type of accuracy that's a bad combo to fight
a long range fighter couldn't keep up with his massive chakra to keep making more clones a close range fighter goes to fight a clone they grappel him adn the others make a pin cushion
