This is my work in progress chapter 5 of Brother's Keeper. Because it is a WIP, that means that I have NOT proofed it yet, and so grammar mistakes are to be expected. :ph43r: Of course, grammar mistakes are not the only thing I'm concerned about at this juncture. Others include characterization and word usages is another factor as well. My current concern is that, a few of the lines sound iffy to me even at this 'unproofed' stage. In this case, I might make changes to it at a later time (like, maybe later today). Still, I'd like to see reaction and some opinions on what I have now before continuing. That way, if I'm going off the rails, I'll find out before I get too far into it. :p

As always, a word of warning of course that this IS a darkfic. While not quite there yet, well, I'll just tell you now before you come running to me saying how I scared your virgin mind. :snigger:

Outside Keitaro and NaruÆs Apartment

ôWait, wait, wait!ö Ishikawa said in a dazed tone. ôIÆm the authority here. YouÆre supposed to be at most, observers. This isàö

ôAnd I suppose you are already doing that right?ö Haruka glared the inspector with a questioning cold glance.

Ishikawa sank his knees a bit from HarukaÆs intense stare. ôWell, no butàö

ôThen what are you waiting for?ö Haruka said in a slightly elevated voice that was in opposition to her unusual for her normally mellow personality. ôOr are you saying that you canÆt handle a simple procedural matter like that right Inspector?ö Haruka crossed her arms to emphasize the point. ôOr does your honor mean that little to you?ö

ôUm, uhà no.ö Ishikawa quickly said. Although he was taken aback by the notion that Haruka go so far as bring up his æhonorÆ, at the same time, she did have a point that this should have been standard procedure during a missing case investigation. ôIÆllà get on it right now!ö

Haruka watched Ishikawa trotted off to his underlings in order to his subordinates before she took out another cigarette, placed it on her lips, and lit it with a lighter she always seemed to have handy at a time like this. After she took a long drag, she eyed the Hinata Sou residences behind her.

All stared at her with an astonished expression.

ôWhat?ö Haruka calmly replied as she removed the cigarette from her mouth and blew whiff of smoke out of the corner of her mouth.

ôEhàö Kitsune frantically waved her arms in front of her, hoping to not incur the æwrathÆ of Haruka. ôNothing! Nothing! I meanàö While she herself hasnÆt really seen a different side of Haruka besides her, cool demeanor that seemed to be her only expression that she allowed to show. Well, when it did not have to do with Keitaro calling her æauntÆ, or when she and Seta had issues to deal with before they made up.

Haruka stared at Kitsune with her standard calm demeanor. ôMy nephew and his wife are missing. How would I be able to face my brother if I told him I didnÆt do everything in my power to find them?ö

ôWellàö Motoko rubbed the side of her gi nervously. ôYou could always say that you left it to the police and that it was up to them.ö

ôI could.ö Haruka said as she took her cigarette and dropped it on the floor. ôBut it doesnÆt mean that I still couldnÆt have done something.ö Once the cigarette hits the ground, Haruka stomped and crushed it.

-Meanwhileà

Unknown Location û Dining Room

ôDid you find the dinner much enjoyable?ö Kanako said as she tapped the side of her mouth with a cloth napkin.

ôI um, yeah! It was very good!ö Keitaro said quickly. While it was quite delicious Keitaro would admit, at the same time, he was not in the mood to enjoy it that much. This was especially true given the lingering issue about the location and safety of his wife Naru. Not to mention KanakoÆs sudden reappearance, her evasive answers to KeitaroÆs many lingering questions, and what and where exactly this place was.

ôIÆm glad you like it!ö Kanako clapped her hands and smiled. She then stood up from her chair. ôIf you will excuse me, I have someà preparations I have to do right now. WeÆll be catching up later oniichan! Byeeeeeeee.ö Kanako gave a quickly wave before she departed through the double doors that were situated behind her, pausing only to give a quick whisper to one of the maids next to her. The Japanese looking maid quickly followed her while the Russian looking maid stayed in the room.

ôWait!ö Keitaro bolted from his chair and jogged his way towards where door. Right before he could reach it however, the Russian maid stepped in front of him blocking his path. Given KeitaroÆs luck, he was too late in stopping and wound up crashing right into her.

ôOft.ö Keitaro shook his head at what felt like very soft cotton material. Though it felt much softer than it should be. æUhà what theàÆ KeitaroÆs eyes suddenly shot open as he realized where his head was resting on. ôIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!ö In a flash, he got off of the maid stood up, and bowed many times. ôIÆm sorry, IÆm sorry, IÆm sorry, IÆm sorry! I didnÆt mean it!ö

ôItÆsà okay.ö The maid said as she slowly stood up from her location. ôIt was my fault for standing in your way.ö

ôNonono! I should have stopped! I mean I wasnÆt trying toàö Keitaro suddenly paused as he an image of NaruÆs beautiful face popped into his head. While he normally feared it when something like this happened, he suddenly began to miss the accusation of perversion followed by a punch that sends him on a an aerial trip over Hinata. ôI mean, I just wanted to speak to my sister. ThatÆs all.ö

ôIÆm sorry Master Keitaro. Master Kanako wishes not to be disturbed right now.ö The maid said nodding. ôHowever, she wants show your room from now on.ö

ôRoom from now on?ö Keitaro repeated, confused with the word usage. ôWhat do you mean by æfrom now onÆ?ö

The maid simply stepped into the hallway without answering him. Seeing that he did not know how big this mansion was, and did not want to get lost in such a mysterious and strange place, he followed the maid without saying another word.

Unknown Location û Hallway

ôIÆll show you to your room now Master Keitaro.ö The Russian maid said as she led Keitaro down the darken hallway. Lit only by the ornate wall lights that appeared to be hand crafted by a skilled blacksmith somewhere in medieval Europe, and then imported here to Japan by some rich socialite.

Of course how this place fell into the hands of Kanako was still a mystery to him.

Keitaro eyes darted from corner to corner. The gothic feel of the hallway did nothing to calm his frayed nerves. Not to mention the millions of questions that was going around inside his head. ôUm,ö Keitaro sounded, grabbing the attention of the maid. ôI amà ummà Maid-san? Umà youàö

ôAgafia.ö The maid quietly said.

ôHuh?ö Keitaro said, stunned by the sudden response.

ôMy name is Agafia. Agafia Svjatoslava, Mà màmaster Urashima.ö The maid reiterated.

ôUmmà heheheàö Keitaro laughed nervously as the atmosphere began to thicken a bit again. ôOkay Agafia-san?ö

ôYes Master Keitaro?ö Agafia said. She looked nervously at Keitaro.

æSheÆs more nervous than I am!Æ Keitaro surmised as he viewed the girlÆs eyes. Keitaro took a big gulp before continuing. ôUm, well, you can stop calling me Master now! I mean Iàö

Agafia shuffled her feet a bit. ôBut that is what Master Kanakoàö

ôPlease! IÆm notà comfortable being referred to as Master!ö Keitaro gave a wide smile in the hopes of calming the maid down. ôYou can just call me Keitaro!ö

ôOkayà Keitaroàö Agafia shifted her eyes a bit.

Any hope Keitaro had that the tension in the hallway would be lifted appeared to be premature. ôWellà um, about this Master thing umàö KeitaroÆs eyes wondered to the elaborate hallway and the medieval looking paintings hanging on the wall. He decided to ask the question that had been nagging him since he first woke up here. ôWhatà is all this? WhatÆs going on?ö

Agafia stared at Keitaro confused. ôThis is a houseàö

ôUh eh!ö Keitaro frantically waved his hands in front of him after he would admit was a fairly lame opening question. ôNononono! ThatÆs not what I meant. Hehehe. I meanà what does this house have to do with Kanako and, what exactly is going on here?ö

ôYou do not know?ö Agafia said in a questioning tone. ôThis mansion has been owned by the Urashima family for generations.ö

ôItà has?ö Keitaro said amazed. He then reexamined his surroundings, noted all of the expensive looking furniture and ornaments, and quickly shook his head. ôYouÆre saying that our familyà owns all this? I know Grandma was quite well off butà butà no way our family owns all this! I mean my father was a baker and um... And all Grandma owned was the Hinata Sou! That was where she got her money right?ö

ôHmmmàö Agafia said as she looked down at her hands. ôPerhaps I have said too muchàö

ôHuh?ö Keitaro raised an eyebrow at Russian girlÆs answer.

ôMaybeà maybeà maybeàö Agafia shifted her eyes to the side. ôMaybe Master Kanako wanted to tell you in person about this. All about æyour familyÆ.ö

Keitaro continued to blink in surprise as he tried to wrap his mind around this latest revelation. æMy family? I admit I donÆt know much about our history butàÆ ôExactly what is going on?ö

Agafia lightly shook her head again. ôThat is for Master Kanako to disclose. Ià she gave specific orders that she will be the one to tell you personally.ö

Keitaro stared at Agafia bewildered. ôDisclose? Can you at least tell me where I am?ö

Agafia shook her head. ôAgain, Master Kanako will explain everything in due time.ö

ôI see. I guess.ö Keitaro said disconcerted. ôCan Ià can you at least tell me where the nearest phone is? I need to tell the others that IÆm safe. IÆm sure theyÆre worried about me.ö

To his surprise, Agafia shook her head again. ôI am not supposed to allow you to contact anyone on the outside.ö

ôWhat?ö Keitaro burst out. ôWhy?ö

ôMaster KanakoÆs orders.ö Agafia simply said.

ôButà butà why would she bar me from talking to anyone on the outside?ö Keitaro said, now even more perplexed about his situation than before. ôI mean, I just want to tell them IÆm alright andàö

ôMaster Kanako just wants you to be safe Keitaro-san.ö Agafia replied. Her eyes shifted to the side nervously. ôShe is concerned that the people that would want to hurt you might discover that you are here.ö

ôPeople that would hurt me?ö KeitaroÆs chin began to quiver. He suddenly flashed back to the time when he first entered his apartment. The state his apartment was in, the holes in the wall, the eerie silence, and the red drops that he now fears were drops of blood. He quickly shut out the voice that would even suggest that it was NaruÆs blood he saw.

Agafia nodded lightly. ôDo not be concerned, for Master KanakoÆs is deeply concerned about your safety, and will not let any harm come to you.ö She turned her head towards the darkened hallway. ôNow please follow me. IÆll show you where your room isàö

ôOàokay.ö Keitaro responded nervously. His safety however, was not the one he was immediately concerned about. æNaruàÆ

seems like Kei had more of a past than he knew...

Kanako seems more than a little protective, then again she probably found out how the Hina Girls were treating him, and she felt it proper to safeguard him; and that Maid taking care of Keitaro... mmmm... soo many good ideas to be exploited here :p

And the FINAL part of Chapter 5 is here... whcih I should warn again, is UNPROOFED! <_<

Not to mention, a few of the lines sound 'meh' to me and will mostly be changed once I get to the proofing stage. Until then... you'll just have to suffer my crappy dialogue and grammar. :p Suggestions, comments, what worked, what failed, etc. ALL welcomed.

Oh yeah, and I haven't finished reading the mangas yet. Since this is supposed to be post manga, go ahead and tell me if something is, contradictary. <_<

Yokohama Police Station - Hallway

The Hinata girlsÆ were all standing inside the dimly lit narrow hallway. Despite protest from Inspector Ishikawa, Given Kaolla and HarukaÆs connections, Ishikawa easily folded to their demands. Once the manager was found, he was quickly taken into the interrogation room for questioning. After giving lecture about not interfering with the questioning of the æwitnessÆ, something that went over the heads of a few of the girls, Ishikawa entered the room slammed the door shut. As they peered through the two way mirrored windows, they could see a balding middle-aged man slumped into his chair. He was clearly sweating under the intense light shining above him. The man dropped his sweaty hand onto the metallic table. Ishikawa sat directly across from him and sat back in his chair, looking completely relaxed in his stance. Despite what appeared to be a lengthy questioning session from Ishikawa, the discussion remained one sided as the bald man refused to say anything.

ôAre you sure this is a good idea?ö Ema carefully said as her head shifted from the single sided window of the interrogation room, and to the, somewhat relaxed expression on HarukaÆs face. This was in contrast to the apparent tense situation that they have all been thrown in on this night. ôI mean, Ià I like to do as much as anyone else butà WasnÆt it you that said we shouldnÆt get involved and just let the police handle it?!ö

Haruka eyed the nerdy looking girl carefully. ôThat was then, this is now.ö A frown appeared on the side of her face. ôBesides, will that stop any of you from not trying to find them on your own?ö

The girlÆs looked at each other for a few seconds, before most of them, Motoko, Mutsumi, Shinobu, Kitsune, and Kaolla all turned to Haruka and shook their heads.

Ema looked backed at the rest of the girls and felt extremely embarrassed being the only girl ænotÆ wanting to find Keitaro. At least, it appeared that way. In reality, staying with Keitaro, she saw why everyone wanted to find them. And while she herself did not see the attraction, wanted to see his smiling face again with his æexplosiveÆ wife. ôUm, I didnÆt mean it that way. Ià mean umà I mean, this is going to be dangerous andàö

ôDo not concern yourself.ö Motoko patted EmaÆs shoulder behind her. ôI felt the same way about this when I first heard about this.ö Then her eyes hardened, and her grip on her sword tightened. ôBut if you saw what I sawà there is no way I will let sit back and do nothing to save them!ö

ôHmph!ö Kaolla nodded. ôBut I would have been doing this anyways. They are a part of the Hinata Sou family! We canÆt let anyone of us be harmed!ö

ôSo, you really have grown up.ö Haruka said in a near monotone voice. ôNowàö She raised her hand to the girls and eyed each one of them. ôIÆd like to hear whatÆs happening in there. Seems the æInspectorÆ finally got him saying something.ö Haruka said in a near whisper mocking tone. ôLetÆs here what he has to say.ö

ôIà I donÆt know anything about it!ö The bald man voice said through the intercom.

Yokohama Police Station û Interrogation Room

ôOh come on.ö The Ishikawa said as he sat back and crossed his arms. ôMister Kurosawa, can you explain to me why there was no sign of force entry?ö

ôUmà maybeà Ià I donÆt know!ö The sweating manager said as his eyes shifted from side to side. ôMaybe, she stole one of the copies andàö

ôFirst of all, what makes you so sure that it was a æsheÆ that stole one of the copies?ö Ishikawa glared at Kurosawa. ôAnd isnÆt it against your apartmentÆs policy for its residence to make copies?ö

ôWellà Ià umàö KurosawaÆs hands began to shake. ôMaybe theyàö

ôThe only extra set of keys for any of the twenty units in your building, belongs to you.ö Ishikawa held up an evidence bag. In it was a set of keys around a silvery key ring that has lost its luster over time. Ishikawa giggled the bag in front of the manager. ôWhat a coincidenceà one key appears missing. Can you guess which one?ö

KurosawaÆs mouth began to quiver. ôIà Iàö

ôNow tell me, where is Mister Urashima and Miss Narusegawa?ö Ishikawa leaned back on his chair, creaking ever so slightly. His eyes narrowed as he felt the trap begin to spring.

ôIà Iàö The manager began to shiver violently as he finally snapped. ôI canÆt tell you where they are! Theyà they will kill me!ö

ôAnd who exactly is ætheyÆ?ö Ishikawa leaned in closer to the sweating man.

ôTheà theàö The sweating man looked over from side to side. ôSheà she said she belonged to the Urashima family!ö

A smirk appeared on IshikawaÆs face. ôYouÆre kidding right? That name scares no one anymore! And last time I checked, the couple you æsoldÆ out on had that very name.ö

ôIà I know butà butàö The bald manÆs nails began to scratch the metallic top of the table. ôShe saidà the family was rising back to its ærightfulÆ place! Back from the veil of deception that tried to destroy it! Sheà sheàö

ôOh donÆt make me laugh!ö Ishikawa slammed his hand on the table. ôIf you are in danger we can protect you from æthemÆ. But we canÆt do it unless you tell us where they are!ö

ôNoà noà no!ö Kurosawa quickly shook his head. ôTheyÆll kill me!ö

Yokohama Police Station - Hallway

Inside the hallway, Mutsumi blinked at the on events that were going inside the room. ôUm, Haruka? What did the Inspector mean when he said æthat name scares no one anymoreÆ?ö

Kitsune also caught the same thing. She looked at Haruka and asked a similar question. ôUm yeah. What did he mean by that?ö

ôHonestlyà I donÆt know.ö Haruka said, raising an eyebrow at that revelation. She let out a whiff of smoke before she eyed the curious girls. ôMaybe they saw motherÆs dark side?ö A grin appeared on HarukaÆs face as the reaction she received was a bunch of blank stares. Her eyes then narrowed as she returned the events that were happening inside of her room. ôHowever, IÆm more concerned about my nephew. HeÆs hiding something.ö

Yokohama Police Station - Interrogation

ôNo! I canÆt!ö The bald man frantically screamed back at the Inspector. ôIf I talk, then theyÆll hunt me down and kill me!ö

Ishikawa sighed. ôAgain, weÆll protect you fromàö

Suddenly, the door slammed open.

ôWhat the?ö Ishikawa shot his head back to see the ænearÆ incensed face of Haruka. ôHey! You canÆt be in here!ö

Haruka glanced for a section at Ishikawa before ignoring him entirely. She casually walked around him and stood in front of the bald manager. She crossed her arms as she glared down on him.

ôUmà HaruàHaruà Haruka?ö Shinobu shakily said. ôShouldnÆt weà umàö

Haruka, without saying a word, raised her hand at Shinobu, stopping her concern dead in her tracks. She then focused her attention on KeitaroÆs and NaruÆs scared bald little manager. ôI donÆt know why youÆre so afraid of the æUrashimaÆ name. Since right now, the only Urashima you should be sacred about is me!ö

ôEhhhhàö KurosawaÆs sweat poured down his face. ôUraà Uraàö

Haruka slammed her foot into the guyÆs chest, knocking him to the ground. ôNow tell me where is my nephew and his wife?ö In a low, but still threatening tone.

ôAhhhhhh!ö The man shrieked.

ôHaruka?ö Kaolla said in a slightly stunned voice.

ôI donÆtà I donÆtàö The bald man muttered out.

ôWrong answer.ö Haruka said as she dug her foot into his chest.

ôMaÆam!ö The Inspector said startled. ôYou canÆt assaultàö

Haruka eyed Ishikawa from the corner of her eyes. ôWhy are worried? If someone complains, you can just say some crazed woman came in and assaulted the witness.ö

ôUh.. umàö Ishikawa sputtered out.

ôNow where were we?ö Haruka said as she returned her attention to the man she had under her foot. She leaned in closer to see the details of the iris of his eyes.

ôWellà you seeà I donÆt know where they are!ö The bald man said squeaked out through tears. ôThey never told me anything!ö

ôOh. In that case, why didnÆt you say it in the first place?ö Haruka said as she lifted her foot from the manÆs chest. ôI mean if you didnÆt know anything, you had nothing to worry about right?ö

ôUhhhàö The bald man gulped nervously.

ôI mean, if they didnÆt tell you where they were taking them, then you shouldnÆt have to worry about anyone going after you right?ö Haruka said, tapping the ashes off her of cigarette. ôSo I should apologize for what I just did.ö

ôWell, Ià umàö The bald man slowly backed up from his position.

KaollaÆs eyes widened a bit, before narrowing as she began to catch what Haruka was implying. ôExcept you know something donÆt you?ö

ôUmàö Kurosawa gulped again. ôIt isnÆtà wellà itàö Suddenly, he felt something cool on the side of his throat as a new face, one wearing some more traditional clothing, occupied it. ôEep!ö

ôTell us everything you know, or things might get a little messy if my hand æaccidentallyÆ slips.ö Motoko said in a low threatening voice.

ôGuh. Eeeeeeeeh!ö Kurosawa started before breaking down. ôOkay! Okay! We met at the bar a few blocks from the apartment. She brought two men, one fat middle age man and a thin man about the same age, with her and basically told me everything she planned to do!ö

ôWhy would she tell you everything?ö Haruka asked as she raised an eyebrow.

ôUm, not about what she planned to do with them or anythingàö The bald man eyed Haruka for a second, then the long blade that was running next to his neck. ôBut what she planned to do to me and my family if I didnÆt cooperate.ö

ôAnd what exactly did she plan?ö Motoko said as she edged the blade even closer to his skin. ôCanÆt be any worse than what I would do could it?ö

ôUm, um, umàö The bald man gulped again. He nearly shook his head until he remembered the blade that was riding his neck. ôShe said that she would cut my balls off if I didnÆt cooperate!ö

Motoko frowned. ôThatÆs it? IÆm disappointed.ö

ôNow now.ö Haruka said as she took out a new cigarette and lit it. ôHeÆs being cooperative right now. As long as he continues, he doesnÆt have to worry about losing the ability to have children.ö

ôUm, there is no smokingàö Ishikawa started before dropping his head in defeat. ôNever mind.ö

Motoko glared at Kurosawa for a bit, before lifting the sword ever so slightly off of his neck.

ôIs there anything else you can tell us?ö Haruka said as hovered over the man.

ôIà she told me to monitor their activities. When they were home and so forth.ö Kurosawa relayed. ôAnd then give them my copy of the apartment key when the time came. ThatÆs all I swear!ö

ôHmph.ö Haruka said and she began contemplating. ôCan you at least tell us what bar you went to?ö

ôTheà CatÆs Paw.ö Kurosawa nodded furiously. ôThatÆs the place!ö

ôCatÆs Paw?ö Kitsune blinked.

Haruka eyed Kitsune. ôYou know that place?ö

ôYeah!ö Kitsune replied. ôI go thereà um, every other Thursday! Heheh.ö

ôHow come IÆm not surprised.ö Motoko sarcastically commented. ôBut didnÆt you sayàö

ôHey! I did say every other Thursday you know.ö Kitsune retorted before Motoko could finish her sentence.

ôHmm. Maybe we should pay them a visit.ö Haruka offhandedly said. ôMaybe the bartender knows something.ö As she was approaching the exit, she suddenly stopped and turned back to the bald man. ôOh, and you never mentioned who æsheÆ was. Can you tell us that?ö

ôSheà she didnÆt give a name.ö Kurosawa recounted as he eyed Haruka carefully. ôOnly thatà thatà umà she had a cat.ö

ôA cat.ö Haruka frowned.

Unknown Location û KeitaroÆs Room

ôThis is your room.ö Agafia said as she gestured Keitaro to check it out. ôYour bed, your drawer, and chestàö

ôWow.ö Keitaro said amazed. He stared at æhisÆ bed in amazement. Not only did the room rival anything he had stayed in the past, the amount ornate furnishing that resided in this room left Keitaro simply speechless. A painting hanging over the bed showed a lighthouse with crashing waves. The painting would have a calming feel to it given the warm color tones, except for the sailing ship that appeared to be on a collision course with the rocks on the beach. Moving on the painting a bit, he stared at the ornamental light that hung on the ceiling. ôThis is like one of those classical European movies!ö He looked at the chest in front of the bed, and then to the objects on the desk. Most notably was a small brass pendulum clock sitting on the deskÆs corner. ôMost of this stuff youÆd find on that Antique Roadshow series! If not, a museum!ö

ôIf follow me, IÆll show you the bathroom.ö Agafia continued.

ôBaàbaà bathroom?ö Kietaro blinked. ôThereÆs a bathroom here?ö

Agafia opened a doorway that was to the left leading to a massive bathroom, with a bowl shaped sink, a mirror with gold trim, and a bathà a bath that could be better described as a hot tub, with a lion shaped facet. With the exception of the modern but very expensive looking toilet, which was covered with gold and silver trims, modern day shampoo, conditioners, and gels sitting next to the bath, Keitaro could have believed that he stepped into the past with this bathroom. ôWhoaà imagine what the others would think of this room?ö

ôIfà if you have anymore request, I am at your disposal.ö Agafia quietly said from the corner of the bathroom.

ôDisposal?ö Keitaro said, as AgafiaÆs words interrupted his previous line of thinking. ôWhat do you mean?ö

ôIÆve beenà IÆm, completely at your service Masà Keitaro. Ià can make you feel comfortable.ö Agafia shifted her eyes to the side. ôIf you need to, I can provideà some extra service for you tonight.ö

ôService?ö Keitaro blinked confused. ôWhat do you mean by service?ö

ôI meanàö Agafia began fumbling with the threads in front of her dress. ôI canà make you very comfortable.ö

ôEhà ehàeh!ö A sweat drop appeared on Keitaro as he realized what Agafia was saying. ôNononononononononononono! That isnÆt necessarily! Hehehe. Umà IÆm fine! Yeah! IÆm perfectly fine!ö

ôAre youà sure?ö Agafia turned her eyes away from Keitaro.

ôYeah yeah yeah! I can handle myself! I mean, not in that way! I meanàö Keitaro began to panick.

ôOà Okay.ö Agafia slowly dropped her head. ôIà IÆll be waiting in the next room. If you need anything, please call me. Again, I am at your disposal.ö

ôSure sure!ö Keitaro said waving her away. After Agfia left the room, Keitaro let out a big sigh and dropped his shoulders. ôWhat a night. And all I want to know is, where Naru is.ö

Unknown Location û KanakoÆs Room

ôMeow!ö A certain black cat said on top of an antique looking dresser drawer.

ôWait right here Kuro-chan.ö Kanako smiled as she patted him over the head, bring a smile to the cat. ôThis is something that only I should do.ö She turned to the dresser drawer and opened the cupboards. She riffled through her collection before removing a simple buttoned up shirt and dress slacks. She removed her long coat and dress shirt and hung them up in the dresser. She removed her skirt and dress shoes, and placed them neatly in the drawer. In its place, carefully put on the dress slacks, and the buttoned up shirt, and tucked the bottom of the shirt into her slacks. She then took out two black leather boots and put them on.

She then looked to the side of the dresserÆs door and noted a heavy workerÆs apron hanging on one of the hooks, appearing out of place to the gothic dresses that resided in most of the drawer. She took the apron, brought the top strap over her head, and tied the two straps on the side behind her. She looked up and noted a box full of latex gloves. She removed two gloves, put them on, finishing as she made a loud snap as the tight flexible gloves conformed to her hands. She then reached up to the top of the drawer, and took out a painterÆs paper facemask, promptly putting it on. After she was done, she stood upright and waiting for a few seconds before she spoke. ôDo you have everything Kyoko?ö

ôYes mistress.ö The Asian looking maid replied, holding a suitcase sized wooden box.

ôGood.ö Kanako said, as she turned around to view her subordinate. ôFollow me.ö

Unknown Location û Basement

DRIP

NaruÆs eyes waved in and out as she tried to let the inclination of sleep takeover.

DRIP

But each time, it felt like she can just let the unconscious world take over, a drop of water would rip her away from it.

DRIP

ôMmmmm.ö Naru groaned as she tried her hardest to ignore it.

DRIP

The cool wetness trickles down her forehead.

DRIP

ôAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!ö Naru screamed at the top of her lungs. She violently banged her confined arms on the pipes. ôSomeone get me the fuck out of here!ö Suddenly, she stopped her movements as a new sound followed. The sound of locks and gears being moved. Her consternation, instead of dissipating, began to heighten. ôEeeeeeeeeh?!ö Naru shot her head up to the heavy door in front of her.

CLICK

The final bolt unlocks, and the door creaked open.

Water trickled down into NaruÆs eyes, blurring her vision for a second. She shut her eyes and violently shook her head. After she was certain that the excess water was out of her eyes, she slowly opened them. The first vision she sees was of someone wearing thick black boots and dress slacks standing next to someone wearing leather shoes, white socks, and a black maids dress.

Before she could look up to see their faces, a certain sound reached her eyes. It was a tapping sound. Naru slowly raised her head to see what it was, and was horrified to discover the reason.

Kanako, swearing a heavy apron and a facemask, was tapping a red plumberÆs wrench repeatedly. ôHello Naru. You are an honored guest to my home.ö

-------End of Chapter 5

That's it. Another step closer to darkness. :p And again, UNPROOFED! Grammar issues? Go ahead and tell me. Not to mention, characterization always a concern. Only thing I will say is that I did try to incorporate, at least what I think, the characters would react... post series. A few years older, and all with a 'new' outlook on life so to speak. However, if they are 'too' OOC, go ahead and tell me. It is, after all, why I'm placing the preview here, before posting it on FFN.
