A full body device? Doesn't that sound familiar?

You know like the Iron Man suit.
Mecha musume is the original idea. Take a Gundam, turn it into power armor, give the girl who's wearing it a scaled-down shield and beam rifle. Doesn't work for every design because some have lots of built-in weapons that would be replaced by spells with a proper device.
Sacred Heart and Asteion are already full-body-armor type Devices, in a way. They don't supplant or replace the Barrier Jacket, they just make it more effective.

After that, it's the mage's choice whether their jacket includes more metal armor bits than clothe armor bits.

Armed Devices like Levantein and Graf Eisen have an odd quirk that deserves mentioning.

Gigant Crusher, for example -- is it a spell that Vita can cast using any weapon, is it purely a function of Graf Eisen's Gigantform, or is it somewhere in-between?

The same question applies to Laevantein's Schlangeform and the Schlangebessein attack, and the Bogenform and the Strumfalken attack.

Revolver Knuckle is another Armed Device which might have attacks built into it: Revolver Shoot, Revolver Cannon and Knuckle Duster, punching attacks that rely on the spinning compression-gears.

"In-between" possibilities include:

(1) The Devices were designed with these features in mind, but required Signum and Vita to learn the spells to activate them. Fans of the Exalted tabletop RPG should think of this in terms of the "Evocations" that artifact weapons will have in Third Edition.

(2) Signum and Vita had already learned how to magically create/manipulate metal, such that Signum can extend any metallic weapon she wields and Vita can enlarge/extend any weapon (as well as create metal bullets; Vita would thus seem superior at metal-magic, whereas Signum diversifies with fire magic). Their Devices are merely designed to make this metal-manipulation magic more efficient.

Gigant Crusher seems to be a function of the Gigantform, given how it enlarges the hammerhead's total size.

The mode increases the size. The attack increases the size further.

Maybe the mode allows the attack. Maybe she could perform the attack with any mode, but it's just more effective/efficient with Gigantform.

We're not told, and we can't tell.

People we are getting off track. The question you should always ask first in designing a Device is of course "What Mecha has not been ripped off yet?" :D
"One is enough for Lancelot Albion!"

Name: Athlon
Type: Intelligent (Mid Childa)
Language: Catalan
Addresses as: Sí, la seva altesa (Yes, your highness)
Gender: Male
Wielding mage rank: SS-
Mage origin: Singapore (Ethnicity: Spaniard)
Mage gender: Male
Forms:

First form, right
Exelica mode, heavy
Exelica mode, light (used over heavy most of the time)

Also, the barrier jacket's not gendered, so it'd remain the same for either gender, except for the obvious breast plate (in this case, it belongs to a male).

Stand By: A Russian Imperial Eagle
Initial form: Sword form
Exelica mode: (a customized Excelion mode): Heavy spear or heavy gunblade
Selling points: Incredibly fast in it's initial form and overwhelmingly powerful in both offense and defense in Exelica mode
Defects: Low attack power in initial form, too slow in Exelica mode
