The number of idiotic people in the new heroics who think that wrath-style aoe tanking/dps is still a good idea is nothing short of amazing. Seriously, don't pug this shit.

Apparently, there's a player in the EU servers who's managed to leveled a troll warrior named "Gutrot" from 1-80 completely "naked".

He's apparently having some problems trying to do the same trying to get to 85.

But if he manages it..... he's truly EPIC.

Okay, what the heck?

I just hit the WEEKLY GUILD REP CAP on my paladin. And I wasn't even TRYING.

And my Paladin has done only part of Vashj'ir.

What the heck, Blizz?

REP Caps? Are you KIDDING ME? I could somewhat understand the reasoning behind the Guild XP caps, because people could potentially abuse the system, but really, if I want to grind rep, I should be allowed to, regardless of faction or type.

Mind you, unless you were in the high level zones, you aren't getting that much rep. And if you ARE in the high level zones... YOU SHOULD BE GETTING MORE REP.

Possibly trying to encourage loyalty to the guild. Seriously the dungeons after the first 2 are difficult to heal!

Btw is the TFF guild still around?

I don't know, a CAP to reps seems mighty counter-intuitive. Besides, the guild benefits should make the loyalty, not the rep caps.

You'd essentially have to grind through a ton of dungeons (which should infer that you're fairly solid with the guild anyway) or quests to get anywhere NEAR Honored with a Guild, let alone get anything worthwhile out of the guild-faction reward system.

Though now that I think about it.... they might be trying to push people to make Alts or grind up Professions.... which reminds me, I have to remember to check out Archaelogy.....

But essentially, until SUNDAY MORNING, I can't do anything on my Paladin without losing potential guild rep.

And I WANTS ME GUILD REP! It's so sweet and tasty.... :blue:

If I remember correctly you get a possible 3k guild rep per week, which puts you just this side of friendly with your guild if you startd after the 3 hour mark of the reset serves for wow. Honestly I wouldn't really bother holding of, you will get the xp bonus for dungeons and daily/weekly quests when your doing them after you get to 85.

From what I remember the 'Guild Rep' is sort of based on the 'guild rewards' stuff, and to make sure you cant just jump ship to a better guild to use their rewards immediately. I mean if it takes 12 weeks or three months minimum to get to exalted if I'm reading this right (which I probably am not) then moving guilds is going to be a 'big thing' if you want those rewards (some of which aer heirloom stuff, etc.)

Not that I necessarily agree with the system but that was their goal iirc.

I've worked through Un'goro and have to say that while it's not terrible, it's not great either. Kinda "meh".

I'm currently running through Desolace (as I figure the Barrens will be rife with people and I hate getting cockblocked on a kill or drop quest).

I want to state now that I don't normally hate drop quests so long as the drop rate is high or the items required is low.

Desolace has at least SIX drop quests within the first few chains, and only TWO where the drops come in multiples or the drops needed are 10 or less. and that's not counting the three or four collection quests you get around the same time.

Oh, three of them had a 100% drop rate. But having to kill 15 scorpions, 15 basilisks, roughly 15 or so buzzards, who knows how many satyrs (there's two quests that require them, so get them both so you aren't wasting time, and neither one of those quests has a 100% drop rate, even though one is just to get 10 pieces of their FLESH, but you also need to get 20 of their swords and while there are racks, they only give you 2 to 3 and there's only 3 rack spawn points (at least that I found) in the area), and then you have to gather 8 melonfruit and 7 pieces of heavy metal scattered about.

Oh, then there's a drop quest that you can pick up to collect ears from the Burning Blade. You need 25. You get one per enemy.

Soooo... 15 + 15 + 10 + 20 + 25 + ??. yeeaaaah. something tells me that they were struggling for ideas in Desolace, at least for the start. :sweat2:

Good luck getting all that in one run. I had one and half empty frostweave bags and I STILL had to go vendor TWICE before I completed most of those quests. I can't imagine the difficulties someone who DOESN'T have Frostweave would have with these quests.

But at least there's a semi-amusing murder quest with Nigel's Point where you get to ride a fiery tornado and burn soldiers and merchants to death. (the start point is an archway at the base of the hill from Nigel's Point, which is the "Nigel's Point Ruin" mentioned in the quest) and the Burning Blade give a "debuff" that'll occasionally turn you into the Warlock's Metamorphosis form and give you a health regen.

Oh, and the Satyrs in Desolace actually live up to their various titles.

The Trickster has a move that had me thinking "Kage Bunshin No Jutsu!". He creates a fake clone that's weaker, then teleports behind you and stealths. If you see him teleport, you can just click on him to retarget and if he dies, so does his fake.

The Hellcaller summons an imp who immediately uses the self-damaging AoE warlock spell Hellfire, which can be aggravating.

The Felsworn is perhaps the weirdest one as he casts a debuff on you that boosts your agility, but IIRC, increases the damage you take by 2% per point in the stack.

Sounds easier than it used to be.

Before the patch, you had to grind rep with one of the centaur factions up to friendly, which involved killing hundreds of centaurs of the opposite faction.

Not to mention that the one quest for the one side sent you to Swamp of Sorrows. I can't remember if the other faction had a similar quest.

The Felsworn debuff reminds me of one of the curses that the harpies in Stonetalon used pre-Cata. It increased attack power but decreased armor.

One weird thing to note: All of the Slitherblade naga seem to have a spell called "Slitherblade Stream". ...yet this spell seems to do nothing. It doesn't buff them, debuff you, damage you or heal them.

I for one want to know why I'm "Neutral" with the guild that I run.

Guild Reputation... wish I knew the whole specifics, but don't.

Guild Reputation is your standing in the guild, the higher your rep in the guild the more guild bonus you can use. This was more than likely introduced to prevent players from jumping guild for their bonuses without working for it. You gain reputation doing quests and running dungeons but there's a weekly cap on how much rep you can gain.

Completely finished Vashj'ir on my Alliance Paladin earlier today and it's definitely a lead-in to the dungeon for Vashj'ir, Throne of Tides.

I'm starting it again on my Death Knight and I've encountered some weird issues, such as aggroing three level 80 eels somehow led to my DK's demise, even though I managed to kill two of the eels and was using Death Strike liberally. They sapped 35000 health from me. THREE eels.

I also got locked into first-person mode after completing the quest that gets you your Tamed Abyssal Seahorse, but relogging fixed that.

Of course, the quest cockblocking is still there. I had to wait to complete four quests because other people were running around collecting/killing all of the mobs/items and I get the feeling this will be a running theme yet again. (seriously, it took about thirty minutes for me to complete a quest that would've taken about THREE normally)

The quests themselves are fairly good, though I will admit that the Alliance comes off as more heroic in this case. Might be because I'm not a fan of most of Garrosh's troops. They just seem more arrogant and.... well, assholish, than the Alliance, at least in Vashj'ir. that may well change as I continue through the zone for the first time as a Hordie.

EDIT: Speaking of Throne of Tides, if you've heard that the boss loot offered within isn't that great, ALL of the gear has been retroactively buffed from item level 279 to 300-ish. 307 or 309, IIRC. (considering the stuff you get from quests in Vashj'ir and Mount Hyjal range from 272 to 288, the fact that the boss loot was only equal to what you got in quests outside of the instance in quest, it's a bit of an embarrassing snafu for Blizz) So if anyone you know still has some gear from there, they should notice it has become somewhat better than it was.

Heroics are... difficult. Mana regen has been significantly nerfed and spell cost has increased by a lot. This means that spam healing and easy heroics are a thing of the past and that boss mechanics are extremely unforgiving. And with the low skill of the general pugs you find, it is to scream.

From the healer's perspective, DPS do not realise that their job is not just to kill the boss asap without getting aggro. They have to minimise the damage dealt to them so them so that the healer can concentrate on healing the tank and more importantly, conserve his mana. This is especially true for melee since there are a lot of damage mechnaics going on at ground zero of the fight.

Also, in general, interrupts, CCs and all that are now essential. If you do not do these, you will probably wipe!

I feel a tad silly, but I'm going to continue grinding through the ToC dailies so that I can get all of the titles. I've already got Silvermoon and Undercity and I'm one day-in with the Trolls.

I've gotten used to the jousting mechanics to the point that, unless the AI is exceptionally defensive, I can usually wipe the floor with three champions in a little over a minute.

I'm also, FINALLY, grinding through the last half of Icecrown. I'd avoided it before because there's a large number of "Suggested Players: [5]" quests in Icecrown and I usually only had luck getting one or two other people who were even interested in tackling those quests. Now that I've got Vashj'ir gear, though, I'm able to solo MOST of those fairly easily, though I will say there were about three or so that got my health down to a dangerously low amount.

Prince Sandoval being one of them. If you don't have self-healing in that fight, you need to RUN a LOT. Hell, even if you HAVE self-healing, you'll want to RUN. A LOT.

I think he might've been a bigger challenge than he should've been because he's a cheating bastard who'll create a fiery barrier, float up into the air and then spam weak but draining attacks all over the place. To be honest, the first and second fights in that challenge were the biggest issues, with a Brunnhildar who'll freeze you in place, jump around like a hunter using Disengage; and an spider-like creature who's a caster.

I think Blizzard made the jousting in the Argent dailies easier at some point. When I tried it the first time I had difficulty defeating the valiants. Earlier this year I restarted it and could easily down the valiants and only the champions gave me some trouble.

If you position yourself just behind the valiant your challenging, he moves enough so that you can open up with a charge. Since valiants start with just one shield, they go down quickly after that.

With champions I have managed to do a shield breaker, charge, shield breaker combo, but they do get a chance to break down some of your shields as well with that combo. My usual style is attacking them normally until they run off. Turn to face them, move a bit back and then charge when they move far enough. Right after the charge while still turning around you can throw a shield breaker. If you time it well, you can be back in melee range before they can shield break or charge.

Be VERY careful during Swift Action.

If you start it while you still have a Breath Meter, it treats it as if you don't have the Sea Legs buff, but rather are simply underwater, which can and WILL kill you during the course of the trip.

Oh, and if you're like me, you won't find your body afterward either, so you might be taking 10 minute rez sickness like I did.

And no, the Leave Vehicle Button does not work.

Trust me, the instant I noticed the breath meter going down, I was hammering that button.

I still managed to finish the quest in the first go, but at least half of the tougher mobs had been "tapped", meaning I wasn't getting credit for them. I probably would've passed it and NOT DIED as well, had so many not been tapped. <_<

The "You can't do that right now" was in response to me rapidly clicking the "Leave Vehicle" button.

I've already posted a thread on the Wow Bug Report forum about this, but I wanted you guys to know in case you or any friends are still running through there.

EDIT: I'd also note that the Horde side version of "Full Circle" suffers from the same problem, only the trip shouldn't be anywhere near long enough to kill you.

The Sea Legs Buff was even active, but did not stop this problem. :(

Oh, and I thought I'd also mention that in BOTH version of "Full Circle", when you get on the sub, it looks like there's only a tiny area for you to stand in, indicating that there might be an automatic elevator down. There is not.

Head left or right and you should find a tiny passage that has a passage down at the opposite side from the door.

Go down that and make your way down until you meet the captain of the sub and stay there. You have to walk down and around into the sub proper and listen to almost all of the captain's speech if you want to get credit for the mission.

A lot of people have assumed there's no way down and haven't been getting the proper credit, and since you have to go back to the previous ship and ride down on the sub AGAIN to try again, you REALLY want to save yourself this trouble.

I should also note that both Alliance and Horde have a quest that's miss-able, though the Alliance are far less likely to miss it.

The quest, which starts upon taking down a specifically named NPC of the other faction, is "Secure Seabrush" for Horde and "Claim Korthun's End" for the Alliance, and that NPC counts towards the 7 you have to kill.

The thing is: the targets for the Alliance are far easier to find as they're at the top of the assigned questing area and around the quest mobs you're more likely to chase down. The Alliance Sea-Scouts are further down and if you don't run across one (which is likely since the quests that would send you near that depth are going to send you further down and further west than they'll appear, and you HAVE to kill an Alliance Sea-Scout to even GET the mission), chances are you'll mission out on some tasty XP and money without even knowing it.

Well, I finally completed my first Heroic Cataclysm dungeon. Heroic Halls of Origination, which I completed on a pug with a group from a different server's guild. First boss was a little problematic, since these guys were on vent and I didn't know. After that, they gave me the vent info to join their channel and made things a bit easier. Didn't get all four of those last bosses down, just Isis and the Sun God. Also did not any gear from the run, but just finishing that dungeon was enough for me.

Now to get Leatherworking up to 525 and subsequent cash earning potentials, as well as guild status as the primary leatherworker.

I should post the pics I have of my alliance guild's bank. Before Cata, a guildie who was doing blacksmithing and leatherworking on two different alts asked me to help them out and since I had no professions at the time, I picked up Skinning/Mining.

(The guildie shortly thereafter quit due to RL issues. but it sounded serious enough that I won't hold a grudge)

I've since filled TWO ENTIRE GUILD BANK TABS and a good portion of a third with leather, leather scraps, gems, ore and/or bars.

.... what? I was just leveling my gathering professions and I personally paid for the latter two of the four guild tabs we have. :sisi:

At least a portion of the bars have gotten used, as someone picked up Engineering.

Just dinged 85. Now, I'm going to be running through dungeons to get my gear up and my rep up enough to buy the Revered/Exalted stuff so that I can do Heroics.

It's only good for Thousand Needles though and you have to keep an item in your inventory to summon it.

Eh, had to send in a ticket to Blizzard because of a leatherworking pattern scroll that won't read. Kept saying "Item cannot be found." Got the reply back, and I have to wonder if the "generic Blizzard e-mail" I've heard about involves removing files (particularly the ones addons dwell) and resetting everything in the UI to default. Wouldn't be surprising to me, though I'll at least try that approach and see if it works.

Running any program, especially ones that use a lot of memory, for too long can always cause unusual glitches.

Relogging, or even shutting the program off and then restarting it, can fix some very weird problems.

Hence why they tell you to delete those two folders, because you have to shut WoW down to do it.

If it doesn't fix the problem, modify your ticket to do mention that you've already done so. That usually tells the admins that you've at least made attempts to fix the problem yourself and that it's not a basic problem that simple relogging will fix.
