Ranma ½ Chance of Author X Finishing or Simply Updating One of their Fics?

The FF.NET summary is definitely unhelpful in this case but the metadata is below anyway. Because of being granted a demonic wish (he unsuccessfully attempts to turn down) Ranma gets turned into a demon after a long discussion/argument with Mara and a off the cuff statement on wanting the kind of flexibility demons have, and introduced to the world of demons by Mara and Hild. Early chapters are setup, introductions, of Mara, Hild, her secretary, etc. Ranma given a tour of the underworld, etc... rocky weird opening relationship between Mara/Ranma.

Overall, it was actually pretty good.

Well, it's chances of updating are 0%, but I wish they weren't, or at least, someone with talent would pick up the premise and outline at least, it was really interesting in premise and execution:

Vengeance And A Half

Time Travel Shenanigans make everything get twisted up, the Black Moon and Death Busters are both active at the same time, the Inners are stuck dealing with their stupid grimderp retgone past selves reputations, the Derpnamic Duo are being their usual shoot first ask questions never selves, Pluto is in a coma and can't tell anyone whats going on, Saturn has no past life memories and is essentially the only teeth the wrecking crew has, (not that they realize that) and everyone who knows what Saturn is (aka not her) blindly attacks her the second they see her, causing no one to talk to anyone.

The Senshi are treated as the superhuman warriors they are, the Ranma crew wins at skill and loses on power so hard it barely matters, forcing them to go constant training from hell just to be relevant as Saturn's meat shields and everything just keeps getting more twisted up and confused.

"So, that was your biggest attack, huh?" "Oh, no, you misunderstood, that wasn't my biggest attack, that was my smallest attack." *terrified silence.* (Paraphrasing from memory.)

Never a fan of Vengeance And A Half. I did really like Fire's other unfinished fic, Teineina Tenshi No Teze, though.

This.

Fire also had a very interesting story that had nothing to do with Ranma I quite liked. A Crossover of Sailor Moon and Wheel of Time. Having Ami stuck in the Wheel of Time universe and trying to bring them up to speed on both the dark kingdom and more modern living and weapons.

Would that be The Use of Power?

I also rather liked the unfinished Hated, also by Fire. Ranma finds himself in an alternate universe with low level magic is public and his family are assassins who everyone hates. It really caught my imagination when I read it years ago.

AFAIK, that would be because the author is deceased.

Yes.

Hmmm... I know he was sick, very sick indeed, at least twice in the past, but did he actually die? Jeffery Vasquez's Personal Profile page has not been updated since 2013

Yeah had known about him being sick, but hadn't heard that he'd died... really?

Fairly sure it was him. I know at least one of the really skilled Ranma fanfic authors that most of the fandom were eagerly awaiting the next update from passed away recently (say, within the last year or so?) and I'm around 90% sure it was him. Can't say for absolutely certain because my memory is… not favorably impressive, but if you can figure out where the news would have been discussed the relevant threads are most likely still online.

You may be thinking of Durandall.

I asked CRose years ago, but he told me he wasn't really interested writing fanfics at that moment. But maybe he'll change his mind.
I would really like to finish the fic and some of the others but I hit a wall with my writing and everything i came up with was just bad, really bad or had been done a dozen times already. So I had to move on. I still check things out occasionally but I've never been able to get back into the flow and enjoy myself.

Pity, quite liked several of your stories... For example:

'Princess of the Moon' -Always had hoped that this would have eventually become a Ranma-chan and Nabiki matchup... the hints were there in their interactions, or I at least thought so, but never knew for sure if you intended it to go that way or not. Certainly could not see Ranma with any of the senshi that way.

'Uncle' or 'Uncles' as posted on FF.NET - Always hoped that would have been continued.

'The Replacement' - I was always iffy on this one, I both liked it and disliked some parts... but was always curious where you were going to take it.

'Strange Days' - I actually quite liked the main female character you made for it, but had always hoped for a bit more between her and Ranma.

'Prime Attitude' - I liked this one to a degree, some of the characters I felt were a bit too OC, but always in a funny enough way. Ranma always seemed to come across as the straight man, as weird as that was, it also seemed refreshing change. Since I never really bothered too much knowing all that much abut comic universes most of these characters just came off as OC's to me. Would have liked to have seen how this would go. I always imagined eventually Ranma would become a little bit like the Ranma in the X-Men Crossover fan fiction called 'Nova' by Mattdeception. A older, more jaded and more powerful Ranma, vastly misunderstood, but yet while siding with none, watched by all sides.

Hm. I could have sworn I, at some point very closely following its last update, encountered a somewhat widely disseminated message to the effect that there would be no more _Realms_ forthcoming due to the death or permanent incapacitation of its author, Jeffrey Vasquez. Same guy we are discussing, correct? I also remember the Brian "Durandall" Randall announcement, though. Drat and blast my imprecise long-term memory!

Mmm going by fanfiction.net activity he was active at least to 2014 to favorite a fic though he did put up a message at the end of 2013 :

"...I want to make something clear to everyone. I write to write. I publish when I am content that I have achieved my goals. I'm not holding stories hostage for reviews or any other stupid garbage like that. I let the stories write themselves. Period. Full stop. Progeny and Realms haven't wanted any attention. They're not stuck, they haven't written themselves into corners, nor have they been abandoned. These stories want to be nurtured. They deserve to be nurtured. Quality isn't slap dash, and I won't insult my readership by shoveling them a heap of steaming slop just to appease those who are impatient. I've seen too many authors leave the community because people no longer understand the concept of manners. I'm starting to understand their motivations for walking away and removing their work from circulation. Common courtesy goes a long way to inspiring the muse.

Soap box is put away. I'm going back to my day job so that I can feed my kids. Have a good day."

Has someone tried contacting direct? I haven't looked back far enough to see if so.
