I'm sad to say, that after another jaunt through the fanfiction back to mid-January, divided into in-progress over 20000 words & complete over 1000 words, most is yaoi or sucks.

The only new decent stories were <a href='http://m.fanfiction.net/u/2159944/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>elarielf</a>. However, I do warn that this person loves their yaoi. That being said, the only ones I bothered reading were <a href='http://m.fanfiction.net/s/7803525/1/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Turning Points: Loyalty</a> & <a href='http://m.fanfiction.net/s/7369266/1/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Turning Points: Chess Match</a>, at which the divergence is at the Black Knight's betrayal & the Schneizel chess match. The former I finished & the latter I had to stop halfway & skip to the end. There is apparently going to be a third that will be the longest yet.

This person writes well, the problem is their yaoi tendencies are immediately noticeable because the main sources of tension are from Nunnally &, you guessed it, Suzaku. Everyone else has their time, but is basically swept to the side.? It's a very heavy bromance that doesn't cross the line into romance only because the tension never leaves & the most explicit action is a very detailed hug or joining the hermit brigade with C.C. Everything always comes back to Suzaku & Lelouch goes out of his way to ensure that, especially with cruelty.

I guess the best way to put it is that only Suzaku, other than Lelouch of course, gets the blessing of character development. Sure, everyone goes through the equivalent canon events that affect them, but only Suzaku gets the full concentration of the author notable writing skills.
It was mentioned already & had a bit of discussion afterwards. It's on the prior page on my settings.

Eh, it's no big deal, although the way I phrased it is a bit aggressive. It was more to expand on the post, since you only provided the summary.

In the past year, I've only found a few time-wasters of any worth.
<a href='http://m.fanfiction.net/s/8852868/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>30 minutes</a>: A character introspection piece between Lelouch & C.C. before the final act. It's alright.
<a href='http://m.fanfiction.net/s/6460093/18/Code-Geass-Tertio-Bello' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Code Geass: Tertio Bello</a>: Still alive, though it seems more like on life support. Hasn't past being a time waster.
<a href='http://m.fanfiction.net/s/8009752/1/Let-The-Monster-Rise' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Let the Monster Rise</a>: Probably has been recommended already, but it's deliciously evil. Probably. The by-the-numbers format is double meh.
Lelouch of Britannia updated on 1-26, as mentioned in the general recommendations thread, if no one noticed.

An AU of an AU.

Anyway it's hard to like chapters with her in it simply because we saw her in Code Geass. Yes, you can say that maybe if she had a different commanding officer she might have been somewhat better but as far as I can tell the time she's spending with Lelouch here is about the same as the time she spent in Japan in canon so her opinions should already be pretty firmly established.
I'm actually disappointed we see so little of people like Nonette. Several different writers have used her to interact with Cornelia/Viletta, but I don't think anyone's really used her as a normal character.

Nearly a decade had gone by after his plan had nearly been foiled by the Code. He had been living a relatively normal life since, but he was a bit reclusive. And like many a recluse before him, he had turned to online games for most of his social interaction. When he gets a beta invite to the new VRMMO, Sword Art Online, he thinks himself fortunate. How deluded he was.

It's not bad, not great but I feel as if it's worth a look anyway. Of course, it's entirely possible I've just let my tastes degrade too far.

Why doesn't Lelouch just kill himself to get out of the game? He's immortal. Let himself die for a few seconds so the NerveGear recognizes his death and releases him from the system, then pop back up alive and well in the real world so he can track down Akihito.

I'm fairly certain he does acknowledge that he could do that, but doesn't want too...

Being immortal, he probably considers it a good way to pass the time ...

To quote bits and pieces of the summary: A girl!Lelouch AU. Lucienne is a girl both because itÆs really awesome and because it adds interesting pressures on Charles. Charles and Marianne wonÆt necessarily fit their æcanonÆ characterizations. We want to see the parents who helped Lelouch become what he is ù and Marianne was supposed to be pretty awesome.

No Code Geass update thread on this forum, only recommendations? I'm a bit surprised. Hijacking and necro-ing this thread for the purposes of this post.
