Two short oneshots detailing an idea that has been stuck in my head for about a year. I was only going to write the first one, but the idea was persistent and forced the second one through as well. I'm aware that the second one is mostly telling and not showing, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it without changing the format. Comments and critique is appreciated.

Common Knowledge: From facts to legend

Facts spread by retelling, retellings form a tale, tales give rise to legends and legends turn into myth. A myth can then be accepted as common knowledge.

Meet Genma Saotome, a master martial artist, wise teacher, proud and loving father and the, mmm, possessor of several rare, valuable and 'unique' items. After all, both sake and dynamite is rather expensive - especially in large quantities - and after having sealed the great and terrible demon master one surely couldn't blame him for wanting to reimburse some of his expenses. The Master certainly didn't need them at the moment and who knows what trouble they could cause in some untrustworthy fellows hands, so it was much better all around for them to be in his safekeeping. Yes, keeper, that's a good word for it. And if he, Genma, as the keeper of these items were to use some of them once in a while there certainly wasn't anything wrong with that, now was it? I mean, they aren't doing any good just lying around gathering dust and it was for the betterment of the Boy. It would be a crime not to use at least one of the several advanced martial arts manuals and if a pet or two were to suddenly get lost or disappear during the night, well, it wouldn't do to coddle the Boy, would it? Though there was that heat resistance training that could bear to look into... No matter, back to the point. Imagine, trying to keep a calf as a pet. At least the fox could have been taught tricks and perform some simple tasks. They all had to go however, as they would only make the boy soft and distract him from the Art.
Wait, is that a slug?

For Happosai, the day had just gone from good to slightly bad. He had finally found out what had happened to a few of his rare items and magical artifacts that he seemed to have lost after being released from that cave his cowardly students had trapped him inside. They were inside a hidden compartment he had found while searching through Cowardly Student Number Two's backpack earlier this morning. Then, while sorting through his retrieved goods after a minor punishment expedition to his foolish student, he found the perfect scroll for punishing his recalcitrant heir. Sure, the boy's training was progressing splendidly, but he had gotten far too cocky since he figured out how to externally manifest his ki into an attack while fighting Stubborn Heir Rival Number Three. However, it was after he found him self standing alone in an empty plot of land that he noticed that he had accidentally grabbed a scroll of banishment instead and so seemed to have lost his heir.
"Hmph, no matter. The boy will probably be able to find his way back. He is unusually able in finding his way out of trouble like that. Now where did that pretty blond lady with the wonderful pink panties live again?"
-
For Ranma Saotome, the day had gone from bad to worse. Ryoga was hanging around as P-chan again and both Kuno and Mousse had continued to hound him the whole day. In fact, the only reprieve he had had was during the time they were recovering from being knocked out again. Then later, when they both appeared to have given up for the day, Happosai bounded in yelling about him being a disrespectful student and just generally picking a fight. And when it seemed like he finally would be able to beat the Old Freak, he pulled out a scroll and yelled something about a punishment. The next moment the world changed and his ki aura was suddenly all over the place seemingly impossibly to rein in. Now there he was, desperately trying to rein in his battle aura, only managing to condense it into what appeared to be ten tails, standing in the middle of a literally small village while being attacked by what appeared to be pygmy ninjas. Furthermore, there was something very familiar just on the edge of his senses that he couldn't seem to recall what it was, when a spiky, orange pygmy bounded in.
'Damn it! Where do I recognize that feeling from?'

For Naruto Uzumaki, the day had gone from good to horrible. He had just returned to Konoha after successfully, well somewhat at least, having saved Gaara from the Akatsuki and was just heading to Ichiraku's to get some ramen when a horrible presence suddenly covered the streets. Wildly looking around, he noticed an enormous, somewhat manlike demonic visage rising in the center of the village. He stood frozen until ten tails suddenly grew from it's behind, driving him to start running and roof-hopping. Klaxon rose all around the village and the fox's chakra started churning wildly, making it feel like the fox was oddly excited. He had just started drawing on the fox chakra to summon Gamabunta when it's malevolent eyes suddenly met his and froze him stock-still, it seemingly staring straight down into his soul. It spoke in a resounding voice and the world turned red.
"Wait a minute. Ki-chan?"

For Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage of Konoha, the day had gone from horrible to downright catastrophic. Paperwork had kept piling up on her desk, the village council wouldn't stop bothering her in small matters and Shizune had taken away all her sake. She had just groaned in despair due to Shizune appearing with an additional stack of paperwork when she felt the horrible chakra settle over the village. She rushed to the office window where she spotted the ten-tailed demon in the center of the village. It was impossible, it shouldn't exist and most of the demons were accounted for, but there it stood, the Juubi. Quickly ordering her subordinates to raise the alarm and recall all ninjas in the vicinity of Konoha, she sent for Jiraiya and ran towards the demon, hoping to be able to distract it until he could arrive. Arriving at the center of the village however, no matter how serious the situation was, she couldn't help the sweat drop forming at the sight of the Kyuubi's chakra coalescing into four tails behind Naruto, wagging back and forth like an excited puppy.

Okay, this is an idea born from all the Ranma/Naruto fanfics that I've seen, or more specifically from how they have tried to combine the idea of ki and chakra. I've seen several Ranma/Naruto crossover fanfics where ki has been the spiritual component of chakra, a few where ki has been the physical component of chakra and a few where ki and chakra were the same thing. I've also seen several depictions of the relationship between ordinary chakra and demonic chakra in Naruto fics, but I have never seen a Ranma/Naruto crossover where ki and demonic chakra is the same thing. Since demonic chakra is much more potent than ordinary chakra, the Ranmaverse would be depicted as 'spiritually denser' than the Narutoverse or somesuch. As a result, both longevity and aura strength would be increased when moving from the Ranmaverse to the Narutoverse. The evil feel of ki to the Narutoverse inhabitants would simply come from their senses being overloaded and therefore interpreting it as a threat.
Basically, the idea is that both the Sage of the Six Paths and the Juubi are myths and never really existed. They are legendary figures created from what was overheard and learnt from the tailed beasts about their origins when they arrived in the Narutoverse a couple of hundred years ago or so and romantisation of the origin of the ninja arts. Basically, Genma, in an attempt to keep Ranma focused on the Art, have been using a banishment scroll he 'liberated' from Happosai when sealing him in the cave to banish Ranma's pets into the Narutoverse. This, together with the wish for a 'creator' of the ninja arts, lead over time and several retellings to Genma, a teacher of a wide variety of martial arts, becoming the Rinnegan bearing 'Sage of the Six Paths' who 'separated' the manlike and powerful 'Juubi', Ranma, 'into' the nine tailed beasts. Ranma became the demon Juubi since the owner/master of the tailed beasts, who are demons, obviously must be a demon himself which later turned into them being split of him. I've not decided if the amount of tails on the beasts would depend on the time they spent and 'trained' with Ranma or the order in which they were banished, though it will have to take the Nibi into account.
If anyone feels inspired by this idea feel free to adapt or use it if you want to.
And does anyone know where the quote "It could be worse, it could be raining" comes from? I tried to look it up but couldn't find anything decisive.
