I've been bitten by the story bug, so I'm doing this in an attempt to hammer out my ideas into a more concrete shape.

Name a character, get three facts about the character. You may name up to three characters per post, if you have more than that I won't respond to said post (I also won't give facts about characters I don't remember). I haven't decided on repeats yet.

Tsukino Usagi

1. Usagi isn't the smartest tool in the shed, nor is she particularly skilled in physical pursuits. However, her ability to make friends and endear people to her is without peer. She is able to facilitate teamwork between most people, and usually becomes leader on her group projects in school due to a combination of infectiously friendly enthusiasm and an understanding of delegation/division of labor. She is thereby considered to be a good socialist.

2. Usagi dreams of being a princess at night. When she tells her mom about it, Ikuko laughs and tells her its romantic phase all girls go through. Usagi doesn't want to worry her mama, so she doesn't tell Ikuko that all her dreams as a Princess end in death.

3. Usagi isn't quite sure what to think about being Sailor Moon. On the one hand, Sailor V is awesome, for a fascist, and Sailor Moon does good things for the people. On the other hand, fighting demons is scary.

Don't know/remember the other two.

Tomoe Hotaru

1. Tomoe Hotaru is dead. Legally speaking. She is still alive, but if you dug deep enough into her paper trail you'd find that she died in a laboratory explosion a number of years ago. Then, a few days after she was declared legally dead, she simply got up and grinned at her father, who grinned back. Witnesses say the silent exchange was the single scariest thing they had ever seen, those who are in an asylum instead of having put themselves in the morgue that is. For some reason, the clerical error of her being dead has never been corrected.

2. Hotaru hears voices. One is kind, and nice, and sweet, and her words sound like honey. She calls herself Kyuu, and although Hotaru likes her, she doesn't trust her an iota because she lies. The other is blunt and brutal in her assessments and advice. Saturn, as she calls herself, spares no sugar or kindness and is ruthlessly pragmatic, but Hotaru trusts her because she is demonstrably honest, even if she doesn't like the voice.

3. Hotaru has significant prosthetics. Combined with her magical ability to heal people, sickliness, liking of dark colors, and the stories about her, she is relegated to pariah status. At least, until a girl with pink hair befriends her.

Kino Makoto

1. Kino Makoto is super strong. A normal human of her height and build, simply isn't strong enough to do some of the things she's done.

2. Artemis and Minako encountered Makoto in Palestine, during one of Kunzite's energy gathering schemes. Thus did Jupiter join with Sailor V.

3. Artemis doesn't move them to meet with the other Senshi in Japan until Zoicite disappears from Europe.

Ami Mizuno

1. Ami Mizuno is a stone cold genius. At the age of 14 she has already made important contributions to several disparate fields of mathematics and physics. She is generally considered the second coming of Gauss or Euler.

2. The reason she's a student in a Japanese school instead of teaching at MIT is because she is also terminally shy and introverted. She is quite frankly, hopeless at social interaction. Her being born and raised in the Union of American Socialist Republics, this is considered a terrible obstacle to her development as a person. So she was shipped off to spend a year in Japan, where she wouldn't be well known, to see if she could get some socialization there. Next thing she knows Usagi has latched on to her and begun the long, arduous process of dragging her out of her shell.

3. Ami and Rei sometimes get into debates on the role of Religion, but it never gets heated, Rei is simply so confident and well grounded that Ami is forced to concede that maybe religion isn't just an "opiate of the masses".

Hino Rei

1. Hino Rei is not a Socialist, or a Communist, or a Capitalist, or a Fascist. She doesn't define herself in such crass materialist terms. She is a Shinto Priestess, that is how she defines and centers herself. From this certainty she draws a stock of surety and confidence that others find both comforting and scary.

2. Rei does not like men. She isn't sure if she's a lesbian or if her experiences with her father were just that bad, but she secretly hopes its the former.

3. Rei thinks Usagi is immature, yet for all of their thousand petty fights, the meatball head has never crossed the line and said anything truly hurtful, even when she knew what to say she avoided the line. For that Rei is extremely grateful and considers the blonde a true friend.

Minako Aino

1. Born in India and raised in Great Britain, Aino Minako is a good and patriotic fascist. La Rocque, Hitler, Mussolini and the other founders of the European Federation are viewed much as Americans view their Founding Fathers, although Oswald Mosley takes center stage since Minako considers herself a Brit.

2. Her parents were refugees to India when the Americans invaded the Japanese Islands. They met in New Delhi, and her father's company eventually moved him to the core of the Empire.

3. Minako's blond hair and blue eyes have saved her a lot of teasing, since she's almost more stereotypically white than most of the people in her classes. She usually goes by Mina.

Meiou Setsuna

1. If you were to accuse Setsuna of being the master manipulator behind history she would laugh in your face. The time gates are a powerful predictor, but she's only human and can only keep so much info straight in her mind at once. Not to mention that, other than the time gates, she can't be in more than 1 place at a time. If she were to mess with Simon Bolivar that would leave Napoleon Bonaparte unsupervised.

2. Which isn't to say she hasn't had a hand in the rise and fall of empires and cultures. Genghis Khan had her backing, and the Bard wrote sonnets to her.

3. Most of the time, however, she is unable to bypass the rules that bind her to the gate. Usually she fights boredom and insanity by watching the political exploits of Luna and Artemis. When she's losing the fight with boredom and insanity she peeps on attractive people having sex, it is very lonely at the Time Gates.

If you want to know why in the hell Minako has good things to say about Hitler, ask questions about Luna and Artemis.

Tuxedo Kamen

1. Tuxedo Kamen doesn't remember who he is behind the mask at first, and Chiba grows increasingly concerned about his lost time.

2. Chiba was active in the local branch of the Green Party. Was. His erratic schedule as a Tuxedo Kamen put a stop to that.

3. The period where Tuxedo Kamen and the Sailor Senshi were at opposition regarding the Rainbow Crystals was one of the most painful times of his life. For he was torn between two equally strong desires, to find his memories and to protect Sailor Moon.

Queen Serenity

1. Queen Serenity died because she was too ruthless. Aeons of politics had hardened her heart to the point where the Silver Crystal would no longer act as an extension of her will. As she died her greatest regret was not that the Silver Millenium had died as it did, but that she was unable to save Sailor Pluto from the immortal grip of the Time Gates.

2. Queen Serenity had the foresight to leave defenses behind in the case that the Silver Millennium might fall, these defenses have kept humanity from being conquered by other powers in the thousands of years since The Fall. By 1991 humanity has the technology to spot these defenses if they knew where to point the telescopes, but not the scientific background to understand them. These defenses are powered by the Silver Crystal, and the Rainbow Crystals serve as access keys to the defense net.

3. Serenity was an absolute monarch. The political philosophies that descend from the American Revolution, where legitimacy and sovereignty comes from the people and it makes sense to talk about The State doing something illegal, would be wholly and completely alien to her. This is not to say Serenity was a bad Queen, indeed, she would fit perfectly the model of Enlightened Despot, but the Russian Tsars had less absolute political power in their realm than she did.

Joe

1. "Game Machine" Joe is a capitalist. In the tradition of John D. Rockefeller he uses every advantage (telekinesis) to get rich (cheat at gambling). Also in the tradition of Rockefeller, he regularly cleans out plushy toy crane games and distributes the toys to orphans.

2. The fight between the Sailor Senshi and Gesen was a close run thing. The seven strongest of the Dark Kingdom fully deserved their rank. Sailor Moon eventually managed to hit him with a Moon Healing Escalation, but only after all five Senshi had spent entire minutes working together to wear the Youma down and make him stay still long enough for the incantation activated magic to reach its mark.

3. About two days after the fight, Joe was picked up by the government for interrogation. Joe, of course, didn't know/remember anything other than Zoicite's physical description. The government, of course, spent months establishing this.

My only complaint is that should be the Space-Time Door. But besides that it nice to see a non-manipulator version Setsuna. Especially when you consider her canon attitude toward such things and the laws that she's supposed to follow.

Space-Time Door, Time Gates, whatever.

This Setsuna isn't quite a non-manipulator, see the note about Temujin, but she isn't very good at it. Her near limitless access to information is the only thing that makes her a major player, and even then a competent and well informed statesman of could still match her. When she's able to get away from the Gates that is.

Luna and Artemis have a much more valid claim to being master manipulators behind history. :p

I have decided that the same person can be requested more than once.

Edit: This doesn't mean you can request the same person more than once in each set of three.

Ikuko Tsukino

1. Ikuko Tsukino is one of the rare people who finds joy and contentment in being a housewife.

2. When Usagi started acting differently after bringing home the black Turkish Angora, Ikuko figured her daughter was finally entering her "independence" phase. After making sure drugs weren't involved, she decided not to pry too deeply and let her daughter have her secrets.

3. When Usagi revealed she was Sailor Moon to her family, Ikuko sat in stunned silence for five minutes.

Kenji Tsukino

1. Kenji is utterly whipped by his wife. He might bring home the money, but she wears the pants.

2. Grows increasingly concerned about Usagi as her emotional state deteriorates from the stress of being Sailor Moon. Although he doesn't know it, his emotional support is one of the reasons Usagi hasn't cracked.

3. When Usagi revealed she was Sailor Moon to her family, Kenji gave his daughter a hug.

Chibi-Usa

1. She is at first unable to believe that a selfish, whiny, clumsy, immature, unpunctual brat like Usagi could really be her mother.

2. Is really 700 years old, with the sort of life experience that implies. Still childish in personality though, biology does have some say after all.

3. Befriends Hotaru on her first trip into the past. Had no idea that Hotaru was anything but a normal person (cybernetics and magic powers aren't that unusual in the future) until much later on in her second trip to the past.

Is that 'befriends' or 'Befriends'? :evil2:

There was no Nanoha style beatdown involved in the start of Hotaru and Chibi-Usa's friendship.

I have decided that I bit off more than I can chew when I decided to make the global political situation so different.

I won't write any more of Crack the Sky.

I might transport some concepts to a fic that takes place in a world where the politics and culture aren't radically different than real life.
