Pokemon Crazy Champions

If you don't know who Red and Gold are, there's no point in you reading any further. If you do know who those two are, and somehow don't also know plenty about the anime, still not much point in your reading farther. If you understand that and still want to keep going, great! Let's talk.
The basic root of this was an idea where Red is Lance and Ash's dead father, but before you run in terror because of the cliche idea, it's gotten a lot more complex than just that.
I want to delve into the personalities of each of the Champions and see how they deal with the responsibility of their title in a universe where it means quite a lot, via dark comedy in the form of Ash's legendary misadventures and the evil teams being a whole lot more serious. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the simplest way to explain it.

The basic worldbuilding I've gotten down so far has all of the Champions involved in inter-regional relations and their respective regional military, the latter of which is heavily League official based. How much more the title entails changes from region to region.
For example, Kanto in this AU. The Champion is military and law enforcement commander in chief, with heavy amounts of sway amongst the Kantonian judicial and lawmaking branches. If the people decide that their current Champion is unworthy, there's a process akin to that following American impeachment (which is actually just the accusations, not the President being removed from office. Removing a President from office would be deposition... I think) via which the Champion can be voted out and forced to prove themselves in the League and against the Elite Four all over again. This happens to Gold after Red's death during Gold's tenure, and he feels so guilty about Red that he doesn't even try taking his position back.
Meanwhile, you also have Galar, where the Champion and League are merely in charge of responding to Pokémon related incidents, and the Champion is a political figurehead with zero legal power around the lawmakers and judges, only political s

Honestly, killing red off like that just as backstory is going to remove any and all interest people have in this idea. Might wanna rethink that part.
