In the same vein as the ability thread, only this one is for creating special groups within the Bleachverse or expanding upon pre-existing ones. Shinigami, Quincy, Hollows, Bounts and other races would fall into this category.

If you're posting an idea that you don't want anyone else to use or you want to be credited for it, then so say so.

Here's one I made a while back though it's an expansion rather than an original idea.

Name: Fullbringer

Category: Human/Hollow

Overview: A Fullbringer is a Human who was conceived by a mother who was attacked by a Hollow prior to their birth. A trace of the Hollow’s power remains in their mother’s bodies and is passed down to them at the moment of their birth. Consequentially, their powers are related to the Hollow's ability to consume souls, separate souls from their bodies and implant souls in a different body.

Ability: Their ability is called Fullbring which allows them to manipulate the souls that reside in all physical matter. By “pulling” on an object’s soul, they can control its movements and alter its characteristics to a degree, creating the phenomenon known as bringer light as evidence. While all Fullbringers are born with this power, the age at which they come realize it varies. This ability grants them several styles of combat such as Fullbend (altering the surrounding environment), Fullstep (boosting the user’s speed and agility) and Fullsense (sensing everything within a limited radius).

Their primary power develops when they form an affinity with a specific object which becomes their Fullbring. This affinity can be defined by one’s love for the object in question, or simply by an overall fondness for it. As such, this power is usually awakened through a strong emotion associated with the object, such as pride. In addition to souls, material objects also possess memories. As its holder experiences various events, the object experiences them as well; the memories are engraved onto its soul each time it is touched. Because of this, Fullbringers who had a considerable amount of battle experience prior to awakening their power have stronger Fullbrings.

By pulling on its soul, a Fullbringer can alter its form and grant it powers that are based upon the shape and meaning of their chosen object. Due to this, their Fullbring cannot evolve though it requires the Fullbringer to be at a certain point before it can use its full power. The complete destruction of the object causes them to lose this ability permanently but a broken Fullbring can be repaired. When Fullbringers die, all traces of their active abilities disappear.

But the sinister origin of these powers has a negative impact on those who use them. By bonding with an object and turning it into their Fullbring, the Fullbringer ties it to their chain of fate. But this bond causes the object to pull on their chain which becomes all the harder as the bond between them grows. This in turns causes the chain of fate to decay from being pulled between the user’s soul and the object, starting the encroachment process. Essentially the deeper the bond becomes and they more they use their own powers, the less and less human they become and exact effect this has depends on the nature of their abilities. Ultimately the Fullbringer becomes a living hollow who is ruled by their own abilities.

This fate ties in with another ability they possess which is to implant the seed of a Fullbringer’s power within a target (Fullgift), who in turn develops their own Fullbring. The Fullbringer is able to then steal that Fullbring and incorporate it into their power (Fullsteal). This has the effect of decreasing the depth of the bond create between the user and their object by adding another layer to their abilities, reducing the pull on their chain of fate and thus slowing or altogether stopping the encroachment. The more complex their Fullbring becomes, the less the negative effects they suffer from and the more powerful they become.

Fullbring Types:

Blade-Type – This type transforms the object into a type of weapon. Examples: Cross of Scaffold and Book of the End.

Clad-Type – This is a Fullbring which shrouds the user with its power when activated. Primarily, this kind of Fullbring is meant to enhance the user’s physical abilities in some way. Example: Dirty Boots.

Rule-Type – This type is able to manipulate a certain aspect of reality such as the elements, matter and forces of nature. Examples: Invaders Must Die, Jackpot Knuckle and Time Tells No Lies.

Free-Type – A rare type of Fullbring that can affect multiple objects rather than a specific one. Example: Dollhouse.

Beast-Type – Another rare type of Fullbring which uses an animal rather than an object, transforming them into a massive fighting beast. Example: None.

Not a bad thought. I've had a number of ideas bouncing around for potential power bases to expand off the ones we currently have, some based on the Alternate SS concepts since spirits only option is becoming spirit samurai across all of human history is freaking moronic. Others are stuff I've thought up because of the recent rather dumb reveal that 'Human' is its own classification of power, which needless to say is rather silly.

Should probably run through the currently confirmed/implied power bases however:

Human

Hollow

Shinigami

Magic Hunters-Power base containing the subset of Quincy

Hell Based (Likely Demonic based and naturally the implied opposite to Quincies and Magic Hunters)

Mod Soul (Honestly a variation on normal 'spirits' by all indication, thus probably falling under the 'Human' or 'Plus' classification)

Giants-Namely Jidanbou, random gigantic shinigami/pluses with no rhyme or reason. Possibly purified Gillians that happened to become shinigami? We may never know.

Vizard/Visored-Shinigami/Hollow cross with emphasis on the shinigami side.

Arrancar-Hollow/Shinigami cross with emphasis on the Hollow side, notably few traits that can be attributed to shinigami however.

Full Bringer-Hollow/Human cross that notably works more like a Quincy/Shinigami cross for some absurd reason.

Substitute Shinigami-Human/Shinigami cross that is notably the direct opposite of a Full Bringer. Can take on/steal/pass on Full Bring Traits.

Among others mostly to do with Filler like Bounts and Bakuto weapons. I suppose there's also whatever the spirit king is too, but frankly I don't care enough about him to bother theorizing.

Notably there's quite a few untapped crosses we could be exploiting here. From the obvious whatever the hell a Quincy/Hollow is (Both ways since one can be more dominant than the other), Demonic abilities with anything, Humans with pure 'human' abilities whatever those may be, and of course Shinigami/Quincy both ways.

Started with Humans to get a sort of mythos set up at the very least, mostly in order to clarify how and why everything starts from man, and branches out into everything else. Bar maybe Demons, but even that depends on how demons are formed which needless to say is still pretty up in the air at this point.

Name: Sovereign

Category: Human

Overview: A Sovereign is the most basic and yet at the same time most potentially powerful classification of an empowered human. They are not formed via any sort of circumstantial means and are not any particular cross of powers, this is the base ability any human is in theory capable of, so long as they are gifted with the insurmountable will and the knowledge of how to bring out their abilities from dormancy. Unfortunately at the same time this ability is extremely rare to develop, so much so no one is fully aware that this type of classification exists, as even the cases of this power developing that people are aware of are usually classified as offshoots of something else.

Ability: A Sovereign's power, Reign, is basically the ability to apply the will of the user onto any particular force or object. The way this develops varies from user to user, and in turn how this is actually utilized can vary just as much. Reign is, at it's core, the framework for which all other abilities are built around, from Shinigami, Quincy, Hollow, Demonic, and all measures inbetween extending to even those in other spiritual realms. However because of this, a Human who awakens this particular ability before getting a chance to become a hollow, Shinigami, or developing any other sort of power gains access to a force unlike any other well know ability classification.

A Sovereign's Reign is an ability that transcends the distinction between both spiritons and normal particles. As it turns out, it is not a force that can be 'fully' utilized by any being that is not made up of both, although limited applications can still carryover upon the users untimely death that act instead only upon spiritrons as opposed to all states of being. It is because a Sovereign is naturally made up of both spiritrons and natural particles that their abilities can be applied to both. And because of this distinction of how Reign is applied based on the users state of being that, as the basis of all subsequent abilities, it is also the cause of why any 'dead' being like Hollows and Shinigami apply their abilities via spiritrons and Reiatsu.

Notably because Reign is not a force that actively uses reiatsu, it is in turn not detectable by any sort of normal spiritual sensing capabilities, and in turn doesn't on its own grant spiritual sight. In turn it is completely incapable of being stopped via the use of soul stone and in turn can freely act against and indeed inflict damage upon any sort of being within the know universe. Reign is an application of 'Reason', applying itself via the user's will acting on anything within his range in certain ways that vary depending on the user.

Reign can act on any sort of force, particle, or concept the user has a particular affinity for, allowing for a rather varied development of skills oftentimes drastically different from the expected rules and applications of other abilities. In turn, Reign can also act within the framework of other applied abilities, depending on how the user in question develops, as it is because every human has the potential for this power that all the other power classifications eventually solidified and developed over the course of human history.

Reign usually can develop in one of three ways, enforcing the users will via Domination, Belief, or Understanding. Why these three particular applications form the basis for the general ways the skill are used is unknown, but these three classifications can drastically vary the way a Sovereign can develop and can determine in some cases what sorts of abilities they might develop as they progress.

Those who enforce their will via dominating the particular aspect they are trying to control often need much greater forces of will than the other classifications, but in turn can often produce much higher level results than the other means of application. The simplest and least elegant form of the ability, those falling under this class of Reign tend to require the use of the brute force method when it comes to learning their skills and developing them further. The cost of this ability tends to be the highest overall as only with a stronger will can they bring about more power from their particular abilities. Some applications of this ability is the ability to forcibly turn Spiritrons into Natural visible particles, ripping holes through space, setting things aflame via sheer will alone, bringing forth beings from other dimensions like hell and forcing them to obey given orders, among countless other applications.

Over the course of history, those who have managed to apply their abilities this way often came under the label of Sorcerers or Witches.

Applying the users will via belief works in a much similar way, although the particular mindset to bring this ability about is completely different. The user has faith the desired effect will occur, and thus their will will take shape. The more faith they have in themselves and their power, the stronger the effect will be. While the results of this are usually less than those applied via domination, it's also less costly, and there's another additional benefit of the potential for this power to be enhanced via the additional belief of others around them. Meaning this particular application of the skill has the potential to be much more powerful under the right circumstances or with enough similarly aligned users. Those who normally apply this use of Reign often find themselves more aligned to granting buffs or healing effects onto others, though obviously this too varies depending on the application of the skill. Ultimately so long as they believe in their particular application of their power, their faith will be rewarded.

Over the course of history, those who have applied their abilities this way often came under the label of Saints or Miracle Workers.

Those who enforce their will via understanding can call into motion the natural forces of the world based on their comprehension of it. Unlike those who enforce their will through domination or belief, those who apply their will with understanding must actually know how to bring about the desired effect naturally before it can actually be applied. The key point of this ability is that first the knowledge must be fully understood before their will can take shape, and often the development of this skill requires much experimentation and trial and error to learn how the world works before being able to inflict your will upon it. This skill usually first develops slowly with small applications at first, setting into motion the natural process to allow heat to start flames, gathering electrons to generate static electricity, moving the wind by manipulating pressure.

However once the proper framework is built this ability can become just as powerful but also much less taxing on the user than Belief or Domination. Generating storms via much more minor manipulation of air particles, calling forth lightning via manipulating the ionization of the air and charge densities, converting lead to gold via altering the properties of atoms, adding additional limbs via altering genetic code, all sorts of effects are possible with the appropriate knowledge under their belt.

Over the course of history, those who used their abilities with this method usually came under the label of Alchemists or Wizards.

General Applications: Ultimately there are a lot of ways this particular skill can be applied which vary from user to user and in turn the application of the skills vary depending on which method is used to apply their will to the world. However a few rather notable skills have shown to be usable by virtually any user of this ability:

All Seeing: Any Sovereign can inflict their will onto a large area around them to allow them to see 'the world as it is'. The basic application of this skill allows them to not only grant the ability to see through most types of illusions, but also makes any and all spiritual beings visible to them. Higher level applications also highly increase the users reactive and perception capabilities.

Void Step: With a single step, any Sovereign can cover a huge distance seemingly in an instant via the application of their will over 'space'. The applications of this particular skill have rather alarming similarities to the properties of the Dangai. More advanced users of this skill can even use it continuously to allow the seeming ability to 'walk on air'.

Last Aegis: By applying their will to their body, any Sovereign can drastically improve their defensive capabilities against any application of force or attack, including reiatsu.

Truly advanced users can even destroy matter they come in contact with, alter the nature of particles like spiritrons and atoms, even altering the properties of the two to allow the user passage between the normal and spiritual realms. At exceedingly high levels they can even fully suppress forces like reiatsu, allowing for the negation of attacks. Presumably it can even be used to extend the users normal lifespan long beyond normal.

Of course most Sovereigns luckily never manage to progress quite that far, but as the starting point for all applications of powers the potential for growth for this particular ability is simply staggering.

Known Users of this Ability: Don Kanonji, applies his Reign via Belief. Also that spirit train thing, though that's a more specialized application.

Suspected Users of this Ability: Orihime Inoue, the Hogyoku, Mod Souls, Full Bringers (Applied via the understanding of their own lingering remnants of hollow power and a particular favored object), Quincy (Applied only via the Domination of Spirit Particles). Potentially the Spirit King as well.

Forms the basis for all known abilities and in turn lead to the development and slow general homogenization of all subsequent forms of power over the course of human history.

So essentially the Human race literally has Magic as their superpower. Nifty. It looks a tad complex but I'll chalk that up to your thoroughness.

Komamura also seems to be an example of a different race. His father states that "their kind" don't eat carrots (no idea where the info comes from though) which suggests that Komamura isn't a unique anomaly. A group of animal/human hybrids who could have been animals transformed into men or men transformed into animals somehow. Ironic considering we were not long ago talking about werewolf variants.

I'm highly intrigued where that father info comes from because Komamura is one of the many things I want explained and will take any info I can get. Seriously.

Admittedly I have come up with multiple alternate variations myself, from Komamura originally being a dog whose Samurai master was a Full Bring user who eventually died and the lingering powers/intelligence remained a part of his soul upon his death, to an expansion of my Zombie Werewolf idea, and one I quite literally just thought of in the main talk thread, a possible end result if a human soul remains in a different animal body until the animal finally expires.

Found it:
He might look like a dog but in fact he's a wolf. He likes mixed breed dogs and kept a dog named Goro in the division quarters. As Goro and Komamura shared the same communication wavelength, Goro was most emotionally attached to him. As to why he hates carrots, in the past, Komamura's dad told him, "this food is not for our kind", and ever since, he has never tasted carrots once.

Losing my touch it seems if something that critical escaped my notice. Well this confirms that Komamura at least was born into his form and it's a race and not a random set of circumstances that created him specifically. Now if only we could determine the parameters of this particular race...

Name: Kizumono, Damaged Goods

Category: Shinigami (Shinigami/Zanpakuto)

Overview: These are an unusual branch of Shinigami who do not possess a unique zanpakuto but instead have a copy of someone else’s. This is result of them being in regular, close proximity to an unusually powerful soul that’s allowed their spirit power to spill out uncontrolled. This overwhelmed the weaker soul’s spirit power and influenced their asauchi to form a copy of the stronger soul’s zanpakuto.

Ability: For the most part, the Kizumono are no different from regular Shinigami in what they are capable of. But the main difference is that they possess a zanpakuto that is nearly completely identical to that of a stronger Shinigami. Its name, personality, form and powers are all the same with only the most subtle differences to differentiate between them.

But this leads to a severe problem where the zanpakuto is far stronger than its wielder is able to handle. Their relationship is meant to be a partnership between equals but this is impossible in this situations. Due to the wielder’s weakness, when the zanpakuto attempts to commune and aid its partner the severe imbalance causes it to instead overwhelm them. It consumes the Shinigami and ends up fusing them together in an attempt to seek a balance between them. This drives the wielder insane and turns them into a single being; a living weapon that wants nothing more than to fight endlessly.

Known Kizumono: Baishin and Kusaka Soujirou.

Name: Hanjuu, Beast Man

Category: Human/Animal

Overview: These are animal souls who developed their own spirit power and learned transform their bodies into that of a human. They formed a nomadic clan in Soul Society and travelled across that world, scarcely interacting with pluses as they lived their own lives. Whilst it’s unclear why this is, the Hanjuu only come in the form of carnivorous beasts; wolves, jackals, coyotes, foxes, tigers, leopards, cheetahs and lions.

The few who are aware of this clan have suspicions that they may have been the origin of the mythical Wild Hunt.

Ability: Most of the Hanjuu’s abilities stem from their bestial origin. They’re bodes are physical superior to that of regular Pluses as they are natural tougher, stronger and faster, the extent of which being dependent on what type of animal they are. Their senses are also keener than a human’s and form a lethal combination with their claws and teeth. Naturally, they possess shapeshifting abilities as they can shift between their full animal form and their hybrid, an attribute which certain individuals can take even further by emphasising different aspects of their body.

One of the Hanjuu even demonstrated they are capable of all the same abilities as a Shinigami, meaning that they can train to wield their spirit power and use the same techniques as them. They even possess zanpakuto spirits that can be awakened just like any Shinigami.

Known Hanjuu: Komamura Sajin (who notably doesn’t show shape-shifting capabilities thanks to his desire to be a man instead of a beast).

Name: Vizard/Visored

Category: Shinigami/Hollow

Overview: These are a group of Shinigami who underwent Hollowfication and became able to manifest Hollow powers. A Hollow soul exists within them that represents their new powers and their base instincts.

Not only does this grant them an additional method of powering up but it also manifests another spirit within their souls known as an Inner Hollow which represents their Hollow powers and their base instincts. The Inner Hollow will attempt to devour the Shinigami and it only through defeating them that said Shinigami can gain control of their power.

Ability: After a Shinigami undergoes Hollowfication, their Inner Hollow will eventually force them to start transforming into a Hollow. To gain control, it is necessary for the Vizard to withdraw into their soul to face their Inner Hollow in single combat. During this battle their body will once again transform into a Hollow, requiring them to emerge victorious within a certain limit of time or risk never regaining their humanity. The path to victory requires the Vizard to awaken their “killer instinct” and consume their Inner Hollow. This is when they are finally able to consciously use their Hollow powers.

The first stage of a Vizard’s power is the ability to manifest a Hollow mask. By doing this all of their existing abilities are augmented, granting them massive increases in speed, strength and stamina. Their spirit power changes its nature to that of both Shinigami and Hollows and swells in volume. They are also capable of using the numerous powers demonstrated by Hollows such as high-speed regeneration, Cero, Garganta etc. As Hollow powers are instinctual, the Vizard doesn’t need to train for them in the typical sense but it does require them to find the correct trigger that would allow them to use it.

These masks can only be donned for a certain time limit and its usage it incredibly draining once it’s removed. The more the Vizards trains with their Hollow masks then the longer this time can be extended to. It’s also believed that Hueco Mundo’s atmosphere is able to accelerate this process thanks to it being the home ground of Hollows. But the only way for them to be able to wear their mask indefinitely is for them to wholeheartedly accept the nature of their Hollow powers and themselves (i.e. their basest instincts) and act upon them.

The next stage of this ability is known as Resurreccion; a state where the Vizard transforms into a Hollow whilst retaining their humanity. To access this state willingly, they need to re-enter their inner world and face their Hollow again. But this time what’s needed isn’t subjugation, but understanding. Only by willingly accepting a lethal strike from their Inner Hollow without trying to fight will show their complete acceptance of their Hollow side.

Only then will the Vizard learn the name of the Inner Hollow and only then will they able to use their Resurrección. Every Resureccion is unique and grants the user abilities specific to its form. The only similarities are that they augment all of the user’s abilities to an incredibly degree and allow them to use the same general powers of Hollows and Arrancar.

Known Vizards: The Vizards, Kurosaki Ichigo, Kaname Tousen.

Name: Huge Hollow

Category: Hollow

Overview: This is a Hollow which has devoured enough Pluses and Hollows that they are nearing the point where they will evolve into Gillian. This results in their bodies swelling in size and power in preparation for the change, earning them their name.

Ability: The abilities of a Huge Hollow are as varied as regular Hollows; the main difference being that reaching this point in their evolution means that their innate abilities have evolved as well. Simply put, they are more versatile, useful and lethal than they were before. Additionally, being a Huge Hollow means that they possess more spirit power than before and their physical abilities are augmented as well. This, combined with the experience they’ve built up over the years and decades, can make them incredibly dangerous.

Name: World Hollow

Category: Hollow

Overview: This is an unusual type of Hollow who possesses a spectral body rather than an organic one. At the moment they are create, their body bonds with a specific material and then composed their entire form out of that substance. This leads to Hollow created entirely from sand, rock, wood, water etc.

Ability: World Hollows have the innate ability to manipulate the substance that they are composed, meaning that they shape shift their own body to a near-unlimited degree and can control any of the material they’re attuned with. For example, a World Hollow composed from sand can move any sand existing within the area like an extension of their body. The unusual nature of their body also means that they are practically immune to physical damage as they are able to regenerate lost body parts and wounds.

The only way to destroy these Hollows it to use a spell or ability that is able to negate the benefits of their body or is able to completely eradicate their form beyond recovery.

Known World Hollows: Runuganga

Name: Bog Hollow (for lack of a better name)

Category: Hollow

Overview: This is a bulbous creature that possesses little will and is composed of a unique black liquid. It is a type of Hollow that is created when an Adjuchas fails to evolve into a Hollow and regresses. Ordinarily, this would turn them into a Gillian that lacks any individual will, but if the Adjuchas has reached the peak of their evolution before the regression then they become a Bog Hollow.

Ability: A Bog Hollow has consumed so many Hollows of different breeds prior to its regression that it is able to manufacture thousands of Gillian from the black-liquid like substance inside it. These mindless Gillians follow the Bog Hollow which is to typically to destroy or consume everything within an area to satiate their collective hunger.

It is still capable of using the abilities that a Gillian can possess such as Garganta, Cero and Negacion. It is also prone to using the Gonzui technique where it sucks out all the spiritual energy within a huge radius to such an extent that it can literally tear the life from other beings. Then it can do the opposite by releasing its breath which is powerful enough to reflect or nullify the powers of other beings, in addition to simply blowing them away. One of its most dangerous technique is to grow Hollow mask all over its body to fire Ceros from every single one, a technique which is capable of incredible destruction.

Known Bog Hollows: Hooleer.

Name: Hollowmen

Category: Hollow/Human

Overview: A rare kind of Hollow that, due to its nature, makes it unclear as to whether it should actually be classified as a Hollow. The existence of Demi-Hollows (earthbound spirits) is well-known but they are difficult for Shinigami to detect, which is why this class are even more obscure. Some Pluses are so horrified by their death that instead of binding themselves to a location, they bind themselves to their corpse with the hope that they’ll be able to re-enter it and reject death.

But this can only last for a short time either by the body being destroyed through cremation or the Pluses witnessing the decomposition of their body. They can no longer bind themselves any longer but are also unwilling to become free spirits. Instead they become attached to living humans, envious of their bodies and life, and are literally able to possess them by housing their own spirit inside. In the Human World, this is most commonly recognised as schizophrenia, lycanthropy or “demonic influence” as the Demi-Hollow influences its victim.

Eventually, the Demi-Hollow reaches the point where they would transform into a Hollow but unlike normal, they become Hollow whilst still inside the human body. The original spirit is devoured and the Hollow is completely bound within the body instead of being a free-roaming spirit. They are now Hollows in the form in Humans, hence their name.

Ability: Most of the time, Hollowmen appear no different than regular humans and are even to pretend to be human thanks to the nature of their birth. They still possess spiritual awareness which allows them to see spiritual beings and sense spiritual energy, and their bodies are empowered by their own spirit power which makes them stronger, faster and tougher than a regular human.

Their main ability is when they stop acting human and transform. This causes the human body to undergo a violent transformation into a body much like a hollow’s including a hollow hole.

(I’ll probably expand on this when I think of something that makes their ability more distinctive. Or maybe it’s fine as it is; the “pretend to be human” can be their main thing.)

I'm considering creating a separate class of Human/Hollow and Human/Shinigami for Chad and Orihime, respectively but I'm not sure how to make of the core of their races' abilities.

Name: Ash Beast

Category: Hollow/Human Variant

Overview: A living cloud of ash, starting off relatively small at first with not much in the way of abilities but is still incredibly dangerous. Even at its absolute weakest this being is fast, difficult to hit, and capable of flaying the flesh off of other living things and spirits with almost laughable ease. However worse still is its ability to manipulate soul flames, and a perchance to burning any humans and souls it comes across in order to reduce them to ashes.

By doing so it can take over and accumulate the resulting remains into itself, essentially growing bigger and more powerful, and in turn more distinct the more people it burns to death, body and soul alike. The more it burns, the more powerful and capable it becomes and the more unique abilities it starts to gain as a result. Usually however at some point the cloud gains the ability to compile the ashes into various shapes and even mimic the forms of the people it has accumulated into itself.

Often incorrectly classified as a demon due to its perchance for fire and deception as well as the fact that few are aware of how the beings are even formed, the true nature of this being is actually a rare variant of the Hollowman.

Some Spirits can attach their decaying Chain of Fates to their own corpse if they refuse to accept their own deaths for long enough. This usually only lasts so long as their bodies do, until either the body is cremated or it decays naturally, no longer leaving the soul with anything to attach themselves to strongly enough since their own bodies are no longer familiar to them.

However in exceedingly rare cases where the soul is driven mad with grief or denial, or even if the connection to the chain of fate lasts through the cremation process, they can continue to latch onto the remains of their bodies as they slowly become hollows. The result of this usually depends on the state of the body at the point the hollow turns. A decayed or artificially preserved body, much like a Hollowman, will be a monster that can revert into the state of a moving corpse, resembling in a lot of senses a Zombie, and will remain attached to this body until either vaporized or purified by some sort of supernatural ability.

However, in the case where the original body was cremated with the soul still attached to it through it's chain of fate, something altogether different happens. The soul attaches itself to the ash as it becomes a hollow, and the transformation, fueled further by watching and in a lot of cases feeling its own body burn with it's chain attached to the corpse as it was cremated, leads it to become a living cloud of ash.

As this being slowly accumulates more and more ash into itself and gains the ability to shift the ash into that of the corpses it has consumed, it has already long since forgotten the original form it had wanted to reclaim. This shape however even with the spirit driven mad in grief and sorrow, has now become the core of it's being. Only by destroying that can the creature be felled.

Ability: All Ash Beasts have a perchance for ash manipulation, shape shifting, and a power to manipulate soul flames. In turn, as more ash is accumulated into itself, each starts to gain more and more unique abilities, all of which usually resemble those of hollows and generally result in some sort of monstrous form the ash mimics.

Due to the rarity of the beasts as well as the lack of information on them it's unknown if, like regular hollows, they can continue hunting and consuming to the point where they advance into steadily more powerful forms akin to Menos. Despite the similar eating habits between them and hollows however, any suspicions to their evolution haven't been confirmed due largely to just how rare they are.

Some theories have been thrown around that world hollows, like Runuganga, are actually the natural evolution of an ash beast once the creature composes enough into itself and starts displaying a particular ability for a different component, such as sand in his case. But despite the natural similarities to be found between their natures, these theories are still unsubstantiated.

Thought of a way to incorporate rather than try to handwave around the whole cremation issue we'd been having with Spirits attaching themselves to bodies and becoming hollows. Thought I'd throw this down for giggles.

Seems like Hollows get all the cool races.

I had two thoughts about the Hollowmen issue: 1) Hollowmen being created in in Japan is because of their cremation rituals but there are still plenty of countries that don't burn their dead so they show up there instead. And there's nothing stopping them from going anywhere around the world so they end up in Japan anyway. 2) The Hollowmen that do appear in Japan are often murder victims since the bodies are often kept hidden away and the violent nature of the death fuels the Plus' rejection of their fate.

Well that's naturally because varied monsters with abilities is just generally more interesting and unique than endless humanoids. Since they're so rarely used likely because it requires a lot more creativity.

Also yeah, that works to help with the disparity, however it still runs into the problem if you want to use a specific character you have to keep in mind where they died. Like with the Mod soul concept, I wanted to use Ichigo's mom just to troll him. Can't since she's likely cremated, unless I add a mod soul with a sort of state reversion ability that restores ash to the humanoid form it once was.

Which actually could work now that I think about it. Would certainly help them keep a low profile, maybe replacing the ashes so no one's the wiser and just stealing the bodies to work with. Certainly works on paper at least.

Back to the main point thoug, if I wanted to use Chad's Grandpa's body, I can make a damn good argument that he'd be buried in Mexico and is up for grabs. Ishida's grandpa or mom, not so much sadly.

Okay here is my attempt at making something a little different in regards to humans who use "Magic" and is based on old of Witches and Shamans, who primarily worked their magic through potions and enchanted items.

Name: Witch (Formerly known as Shamans and Medicine Men before other religions supplanted them in many areas of the world)

Category: Human

Overview:

Throughout history there have been Humans that are said to have the the ability to effect the living bringing great fortune or incredible harm at their whim, often through working with and communing with the souls of the dead. The term "Witch" is applied to the varied families of low level Psychics descended from what is believed to be a family from ancient Sumer. Unlike most humans they are born with Spiritual Awareness from birth.

Possessing a basic ability to use Spiritual Energy, on their own their abilities are not that impressive. However after millenia of practice and research various "spells and rituals" have been created that are in fact kludged together workings of actual Reishi Science, rather then inherent powers like most other Human based spirituals practitioners.

The most terrible of these is "Soulbinding, a misleading term that implies that the soul is used as a power source. In truth the soul is "flayed" of many of it's spiritual energies and these are bound to an item. As a result the soul in question often ends up as a Blank due to the trauma of this experience. It is a taboo amongst Witches to use Soulbinding on a Human Soul, instead the souls of Animals are used, and only the most depraved of Witches would do so.

Sadly their are always those who seek power and as such the "Circle of Black Thorns" exists as a prominent Coven with cells in most major countries, having survived the purgings of the past conducted by Witches and other spiritually aware beings. They have used their powers to ingrain themselves into the criminal underworld and as such are hated and feared by many, yet their resources always attract followers. Of note is that the Circle of Black Thorns are the only Witches who remain alive today that practice "Actual" soulbinding, combining the souls of the dead with the living, resulting in living abominations. This is a result of fusing the soul of a Living Human with that of a recently turned Hollow, causing the Hollow to merge with and alter the human's soul and body. Due to the dangers involved and the risk of their creations turning against them this "Black Rite of Sublimation" is rarely used.

Abilities:

Anomalous Spiritual Awareness: The ability to perceive Spiritual Energies as a sense of tightness as if someone was squeezing their body. Strength of this ability varies by individual and is often used as an indicator of a "strong bloodline".

However in some rare cases other forms of perception occur in addition to the norm
The three most well known are.
1. The ability to perceive trace amounts of spiritual energy as a "scent" which can be tracked.
2. View the smallest remnants of energy used in attacks or other "active" spiritual techniques that is normal nonvisible after use, even to Shinigami and other Spiritual Races, as forms "shimmers" similar in appearance to heat shimmers.
3. "Hear" Spiritual Pressure over long distances,

Roughly 5% of all Witches are born with the "rare talent" of additional means of sensing spiritual energy. All of them allow these uniquely blessed individuals to track Spiritual Energy in ways others can't.

Basic Reishi Manipulation:
The ability to manipulate spiritual energy. While basic "bullets" and simple constructs far inferior to Quincy arrows can be created without much difficulty their power is generally quite weak, often dealing no more damage then being hit with a very fast baseball.

However techniques exist to store Reishi in order to use it for more powerful spells, similar in structure to the Ginto used by Quincy. The main difference is that the energy is stored in containers which vary by the different "families" and "covens" from which a Witch draws their knowledge. Containers can from antiquated wineskins which store the energy in a liquid form like Ginto (albeit using a liquid as medium to be infused with the energy) to crystals in which it is stored as a form of light, really a conversion into a a new "allotrope" of Reishi which appears as a pale blue light.

The most well known "spells" are various curses which often focus on effecting the spiritual body, disrupting it's connection with it's physical form, causing diseases without medical explanations as well as blindness and death. Notably it is far more difficult to effect humans then it is to effect other living things

In order of decreasing effects the abilities of curses are as follows, plants, animals, humans. Spiritual bodies cannot be effected by most curses, and the ones that can do so are generally only effective on the weakest of Hollows.

"Reishi Memory Access": Most commonly know as Psychometry, the ability to "read" an items past, it is in fact based on accessing the reishi in an object, which all things contain at least trace amounts of. This reishi contains an impression of strong emotions associated with it, notably this connection allows Fullbringers to use their powers on their "focus". Witches can access this to get a read on the person who earned the object, and how old it is, but only perceive the strongest emotions associated with the object. As such if it is an heirloom that has come to be treasured by it's current holders it is likely that their emotions will have a greater imprint then the original owners.

It is often used to track the owner of an item or piece of clothing or "mark" them for later observation by being used as a reference for their spiritual pressure, allowing a Witch to with time acclimate to their Spiritual Pressure and perceive them in there sensory range. Notably while parts of the body such as hair or dead skin are are easier to use the decay of the body causes them to breakdown eventually, with the trace amounts of reishi being the first thing to "decay" making them unsuitable for long term use.

The most infamous use of this ability is by charlatan's passing themselves off as "Mediums" in order to get a better read on their mark.

It is believed that this was originally an ability gained through study and that over the centuries it's constant use and the favoring of children who showed high talents in this ability led it to be "bred" into the bloodline. Records indicate that it was first used as a practice to teach youngsters to how to better differentiate between various spiritual energies in a controlled environment.

Manipulation of Souls:

One of the most researched and widespread uses of a Witches "magic" is spells specifically tailored to control the souls of nonsapient beings. These spells have little effect on Sapient beings and can at best be used to cause disorientation and confusion, and "curses" are generally far more effective in this regard, though they are generally more effective on spiritual bodies then curses. For animals and plants however it can grant the ability to control their bodies while paying attention to them.

For plants this allows controlled growth and for animals this allows their "masters" to make them take actions they normally would not.

As a downside the user must retain focus on their subject, leaving them unable to move their own body. To combat this "programs" were created that dictate what the subject is to do. However the process of implanting them into a subject is long and tedious, and one cannot anticipate every variable leading to the possibility of the subject breaking free in when confronted with the unknown.

Furthermore in order to use these programs to their greatest effect one must be intimately familiar with the structure of the target, preventing their use on those the user are not acquainted with.

A "focus" is needed to maintain these programs longterm, as eventually the energy used in their creation runs out. The Focus must be recharged every so often. It is located on or near the subject in order to transmit energy to the "program" inside the subject. Certain kinds of spiritual haling can easily remove a program.

Soulbinding:

The most feared and despised technique of all Witch's spells these techniques capture the souls of a dead or recently deceased individual and "shave" off spiritual energy to be used as a catalyst for spells, potions and the creation of tools. The quality and form of the soul determines the effects of the end result. The most hated of these techniques is fusing the souls of the dead with the living, known as "The Art of Sublimation" in that it forces the transition of a living thing into a new state of being.

1. Ritual Spells: Complex spells using the reishi extracted from souls as a power source. These require a great deal of time and preparation but can be used to create effects far in excess of what a Witch can do alone. Due to the difficulties of these spells and dangers of the ritual site exploding if the energies are not handled properly these spells are most often carried out by multiple Witches, ranging anywhere from three to over two dozen depending on the complexity of the spell and the number of souls used in the process.

2. Potions:
Potions are used as to create effects that enhance or damage the ones who ingests them. For example a potion created with Wolf's Soul can be made to increase sense of smell, and one made with a Falcon's Soul can enhance eyesight. Such enhancements are temporary and fade as the reishi used in their creation is expended.

The opposite of this is Poisons which are created to deal damage to the one whose body they are introduced to. More costly then curses they are also generally more effective, but carry the risk of being linked back to the creator as they must be delivered without the intended target being aware of what is being done to them.

The most important thing regarding potions is that one does not need to possess spiritual energy in order to be effected by them, however depending on the strength of the dose the user may risk going into shock and dying due to being unable to handle this energy. However if they survive then they will awaken with a low level spiritual awareness.

3. Tools
Weapons and defensive tools made to assist a Witch. They are made by pouring certain kinds of spiritual energy into a prepared "mold" that holds various magical symbols and runes. These runes serve as conductors for spiritual energy, allowing various effects to be created depending one what runes were used.

A major weakness is that the maximum power level of the tool is determined by the strength of the soul used in it's creation and the "holding capacity" of the rune alignment. This cannot be changed, and any attempt to modify the runes will result in the tools destruction. This also prevents repair of a damaged tool. However any source can be used to recharge them though souls similar to the one used in the tools creation are the most ideal.

Mold's can take the form of virtually anything so long as it can have runes carved into it. Examples include swords that emit flames, leather jackets that can block gunfire, and of course the stereotypical "flying broomstick".

4. Living Things:
Known as "The Art of Sublimation" due to it's use in changing a living being from one state to another it is most often used to create familiars. Born by fusing the soul of dead animals with living one they are stronger and more intelligent then normal animals.

Humans can be enhanced with the Souls of Animals creating various kinds of of warriors reminiscent of the legendary Berserkers.

These rituals are usually carried out with an animal sacrifice, with the soul of the animal transplanted as soon as they die. However Humans can also be used as a "sacrifice" to create "intelligent" animals or vastly enhance a human's physical and mental abilities.

However a soul which is animal or human can be kept in place by various binding spells and when it eventually degenerates into a Hollow fused with a "vessel". Depending on the type of soul, Human or Animal and whether the Hollow is born from a Human or an Animal's soul various effects can take place.

END

With "Witches" I wanted to make a race that that holds close to the stories of magic workers who depended mostly on potions and magical items to do their work

Notably other then their artifacts, potions, and dark rituals, Witches have no real physical enhancements. As such the majority of them do not possess any real physical strength beyond human norms. Which makes them a marked difference from other races in Bleach.

Furthermore each country will have it's own "Witch's" who have adapted to the culture of their homes, meaning each "family" or "coven" will have different ways of doing things, other then the "Circle of Black Thorns" which is set up as a group that draws in the worst of all lands.

It also let me create a group that can reasonably create Hollow Hybrids without relying on Soul Society or another source outside the Human Realm. Which I needed for a setup for some of my other plans down the road. There will be a marked difference between "Abominations" created by binding the soul of an Animal Hollow to a living human from one which is created by binding a Human Hollow to a human.

"Animal" Abominations will have humans subsume the nonsapient Hollow and adopt their characteristics. This leads to werewolves, trolls and other humanoid monsters in the human realm. Animals who have been turned into abominations will create certain legendary monsters.

"Human" Abominations have the soul of the host human or animal consumed by the Hollow, which fills the Hollow Hole if done at the right time, if not well then things get interesting. When successful in filling the hole it results in the Hollow absorbing the memories of the victim and believing they are them, with occasional flashes back to their true nature disturbing them. In time their nature as a Hollow Hybrid shines through and they begin exhibiting the characteristics of various mythical corporeal undead. I have "ideas" regarding Draugr and the infamous "Black Dog" of English folktales to say the least.

So this let's me fit in virtually any type of mythical creature I want and say that the infectious nature of Hollows means that there offspring inherit the alterations to their soul similar to how Fullbringers absorb a portion of a Hollow's powers after it has attacked their parent.

Finally Witches do not "see" the full extent of what they are doing and have no idea just how badly outmatched they are, or the full effect of what they are doing. To truly spiritually aware beings their powers appear as a pale green.

Sadly I think I may have went a little overboard in all of this. Please give me any criticism on how to "trim the fat" of this proposed idea.

Edit: I changed the Witch's spiritual awareness.

Depends on what you specifically want to do with it ultimately. Interesting as it is to come up with these additional classifications and expansions, it's hard to work them into a story without extensive use of OC's, either of a cross canon expy or legitimate original nature. Another reason I suppose why alternate Hollow classifications are so appealing, people don't need to get wary if we just make up new mindless monsters to go looking for fights or what have you.

Judging by the direction you went with the lacking durability which really is going to be a fairly massive issue and the more indirect nature of the powers I'm assuming either a straight up fight with the main cast is out of the question and all interactions are going to be as indirect as they can possibly make them or you're going for a much more early canon setting back when Bankai's hadn't even been conceived yet (Which is admittedly more advised honestly).

In terms of trimming the fat so to speak, one thing I've learned quite a bit while theorizing skillsets and abilities is that simplicity is always key. Versatility will always make for a more well rounded fighter certainly, but ultimately the more simple the skillset the more unique and standout you can make it, and in turn if done right the more interesting the fights you can do as well.

Basically you should be looking less at allowing all of the witches to do 'potions', and 'soul bindings', and have 'tools', and cast 'spells', and instead try to blend the general skills of any individual character to a more unified and singular concept. By all means, allow the race to have access to all those branches certainly, but on an individual character by character basis always remember that theming is always going to be key. The more versatile you try to make everyone, the more generic they become.

In this case honestly what with what you have here, I'd actually suggest a general animal motif sort of thing honestly. You kind of have the backbone for something interesting here, going into the mechanics of animal souls (Which we know exist because of the parakeet and Komamura's tribe more recently) and the potential uses that could be had from this. Hell thanks to that thought I've even started theorizing some ways to get general animals in on the fun, maybe Chad's Parakeet rather than becoming a fullbring focus actually gains an ability of it's own, and so on.

Hell, if you need to draw any inspiration, Soul Eater had a particular focus on such motifs with their own Witches. All of their Witches were largely connected more or less directly in the spells they weaved or the items they used to a particular animal. Focus on bending things to that general outline skillset wise on a character by character basis and you have something quite interesting to work with. Maybe outline it so that each specific one can only empower/use the souls of/manipulate creatures of a certain species and what spells they could work the best with also had a bent to that particular focus.

Then naturally one of them just so happens to be heavily bent towards human souls and can empower other humans including witches and then you have the whole Coven thing to get crazy with even further. Plenty to work with there already.

Actually going a step further into the Animal bit, it actually could be feasible to have a whole evolution/ties to their ancestors thing going with animals in general. Centuries upon centuries of creatures living and dying and what remains of their souls lingering within their ancestors. Not too long ago there was an interesting series Antimagia where the main thing was that the lead could use his power to revert any animal to one of their ancestors, like turning birds into dinosaurs and so on. You could get that sort of vibe going too with the right logic behind it. Again focused towards a particular species, but needless to say there's a lot of interesting ways you could potentially spin it.

Chad's Parakeet becomes a T-Rex? Could be sweet. :snigger:

So Witches are like pseudo-scientists spending centuries researching and experimenting with the soul using ritual-based spirit magic.

FYI, reishi are spirit particles, Reiryoku is spiritual power and Reiatsu is spiritual pressure. People sense reiatsu, Ginto store reiryoku etc.

Trim, trim, trim…

The bit about sensing seems pointless since anyone with spiritual awareness can sense to some degree. And it sounds like most Witches don’t possess enough power to even perceive ghosts which strikes me as odd; I’d expect them to be able to see Shinigami and Hollows. Even Don Kanonji could see Hollows.

I’d drop the psychometry which sounds more like a Fullbringer’s skill. Their limited reiatsu manipulation seems odd too since I’d think of Witches as the human version of the Kido Corps with spirit magic forming the meat and bones of their fighting style. But enchanted potions and tools do give it some original flair.

Potions designed to affect someone internally for good or ill, making them different from kido and ginto spells. A mix of ingredients turned into something special with a spell like the kido-mixed drinks from Hammered Down. Tools which are designed to perform a specific function when energy is added, removing the need to perform the spell themselves. So a necklace that produces a light or a bracelet that creates a shield. Every Witch could make their own potions/tools so there would be ones that generally do the same thing but each one would have ones unique to their purposes.

I second the animal focus. I’d probably make them to equivalent of a zanpakuto or fullbring so each witch uses a specific species and uses the souls of that species to create their own familiar. So it’d be a bit like the Guardian Fullbrings where they avoid confrontation by using a powerful servant, emphasizing their lack of physical abilities.

One of the things I am going for is that Witches need "preparation" for all their best stuff. "Spells" are weak on their own and as such they need Ginto knockoffs to be at their best, and even then that does not compare to the power of "rituals" which by there nature are not usable in a combat situation.

Tools were created to deal with this weakness.

The "animal" theme is actually easy enough to address. Witches have been around for a long time. In that time various families and covens have come into being, each with their own unique spells and rituals. They are further influenced by the cultures they live in and can go "why can't we do that?" to any tales of "magic users" and with time effort and study create decent knockoffs of whatever exist in stories, which explains why "abominations" resemble mythical creatures, but might not be the exact basis for these legends.

However since this knowledge came from long an painstaking research every single family has different ways of using their "magic" based on what they have learned over the years and how the cultures they are in have influenced them.

One coven or family might have a tradition of using ravens in their magic and are focused around what can be done with them. As such they don't have the ability to control wolves or eagles because all of their research is focused on this one specific branch of animals, and to a lesser extent plants that can aid with the potions regarding said animals. Another may focus on "enhancing" rats or similar vermin allowing them to infest areas whilst being immune to parasites and diseases they carry. This can be used to attack enemies or "provide service" in getting rid of the vermin like the infamous Pied Piper.

The point is since each group has their own "traditions" and spells, which are really Spiritron sciences beaten with a hammer until they work, and are not inclined to share them with others. As such every Witch is potentially a unique individual drawing from a branch of "science" that has been studied for centuries and modified for their own use. Witches whose families have lived for generations along the coast can control marine life and effect the seas and weather to a certain extent. Ones living in farming areas know how to enhance and protect livestock and harvests, and how to devastate them and focus on the control of domestic animals. The two families know the basics of the others "art" as it draws from the same science but without research cannot do what the other does, and whichever family has the most research in a particular area usually wins in a direct confrontation which depends on such knowledge.

Another example would be that a Witch specializing the creations of Tools would be at a major disadvantage against one who specializes in Poisons as they would not be able to identify the poison or even detect it's delivery system. Given that such a Witch comes from a family which has made Poisons for centuries if not millenia he or she would have a major advantage in knowing what is most effective for a given situation, and how to deliver it unnoticed. If they had something on hand that can be delivered in such a way that most would not notice it, and only a member of their own Family knows the counter to then they win.

Which raises the question of what "traditions" have come about since the rise of major industrial cities since the mid 19th century, and if any Witches have focused on making spells that effect "moving parts" of machines causing them to malfunction at critical moments. And some of their "familiars" could be created by binding the souls of an animal or human to a "construct" that resembles the original form of the soul. While more durable then augmented living things they need a constant supply of energy of the trapped soul will expire. These "Golems" would have existed in various families for centuries, but combing them with modern technology would make them much more dangerous.

And yes making a "familiar" to serve as physical aid and deterrent against attackers seems like a good idea.

As I said in many folktales witches and the like need rituals and magical items to work their best stuff. Most often in fiction we see the kind of stuff that came out of DnD Wizardry as the standard magical fare. Having that be the weakest aspect of Witches and the best things the Witches can use being things that can take weeks or months of preparation is an interesting reversal. Which is why in keeping with such old stories destroying a tool, potion, or familiar robs the Witch of most of their immediate "power".

As for the sensing part, Ichigo was able to see Ghosts for years, but Hollows and Shinigami were unknown to him for the most part, and even then he was not able to sense them in full at first. A race which has this as a "disadvantage" is something of an interesting twist, but it can be dropped it just does not seem to jive with the rest of the universe.

I'd give Ichigo a pass since he was raised as a normal kid whereas these Witches sound like they're being trained in the spiritual arts during their youth. So I'd expect them to be more like Uryuu who could see Hollows and Shinigami as a kid, likely because he started his Quincy training young.

Allright then I will change it later then. But I will have to work on creating things that can be credible threats to Hollows. As Spiritually Aware Humans Witches would be like delicious candy to them.

I think a combination of Radical Enhancements to Familiars as well as Tools made specifically to suppress their Spiritual Energy and hide it from Hollows and other Spiritual Beings. I just need to make the wards both believable in application and give them a reason as to why they cannot be used indefinitely. Perhaps these "wardstones" are a variant of tools and need to be recharged, so a Witch cannot use them as necklaces and other items indefinitely. The size of the Wardstone determines how much of a charge it can hold.

As for familiars how about they can create their own spiritual energy as the are living beings "enhanced" by being fused with the spirits of the dead, and the more souls used in their creation the stronger they are. However while they have a limited ability to "grow" it is still set by the limits the living being infused with energy had. Human Familiars while forbidden by the Witch Community as a general consensus have a greater capacity to grow in strength. As such there are those who still desire their use.

As such Spiritually Aware Animals and Humans are highly prized because of their greater growth rate and ability to handle more energy "shaved" from the souls sacrificed in a Familiars creation. Trying to pour to much energy into a "vessel" that can't handle it will lead to death.

As for methods of control I would say that upon creation a small portion of the Familiars Soul is removed and placed in a "Command Vessel" which is used to both communicate with over long distances and control the Familiar through "programs" inputted into it. It operates much the same as spells to control souls, just that they have a ready made tool to input the commands. This can only be done when a soul is subjected to the process of creating a familiar, as the addition of the spiritual energies to a physical body in the ritual makes the soul more "malleable" for a short time.

Familiars made with human souls are more intelligent and can operate on their own without commands, while ones made with animal souls have to be commanded with programs or trained.

The most prized Familiars are made by binding spiritual energy that resonates with elemental forces such as fire or the like, granting a familiar powers of it's own beyond enhanced speed, durability, and strength, as well as the ability to effect spiritual bodies. Only one element can be used in the creation of a Familiar, for example that creates ice cannot command water in any other form.

Finally what do you think about the idea of Witches giving their familiars an "Overdrive" ability that drastically enhances a Familiar with their own spiritual energy, but risks overloading it, so every time it is used it has the chance of destroying the Familiar?

I will make a more dedicated mockup for Familiars later, and have it separate from "Abominations" created by fusing a freshly turned Hollow with a living being.

Works for me. It sounds right up their alley.

Back to work...

Name: Murim

Category: Human

Overview: In a curious way, martial artists have always been closer to the spiritual realm than most humans. Not because of any interaction with the spirits but because the martial arts they practice often involve honing the energy within them. Many unconsciously touch upon the miniscule spiritual energy they possess and by drawing upon enough times causes it to grow. Of course, only a fraction of the population can reach the point where they can be called superhuman. These are the Murim.

The Murim are both a people and a society who remain secret to the wider world. They are those who have devoted their lives to practicing martial arts and have consciously learned to use the spiritual energy to surpass human limitations. Whilst they all reach a point where they can see spiritual races, they have no interest in the mysteries of the afterlife beyond slaying any otherworldly creature that tries to harm them.

No, the Murim are only interested in creating, refining and mastering fighting styles and techniques to become the strongest under heaven. Power is both the means and the ends for them and so they spend their entire lives training and fighting one another to reach greater heights.

Ability: The powers of the Murim are all tied into martial arts whether they are hand-to-hand combat or weapon wielding. The foundation of their ability stems from their physical body which they train to be as strong and fast as possible, turning themselves into a lethal weapon with an unbreakable will. The Murim are capable of jumping over entire body, covering great distances in a single step, running up walls or over water, punching through concrete, shattering the earth beneath their feet, creates insubstantial clones of themselves and punching the air itself. And these are among the more general skills to be expected of any Murim of certain skill.

The more unique and powerful techniques they possess would depend on the school of fighting they belonging and are almost always kept secret from one another. These are ones that often go beyond the physical and use destructive spiritual energy to accentuate their fighting skills showing exactly why the Murim are to be feared.

I quite like this concept for the Bleachverse, even though I'm just taking it from The Breaker, HSDK and half-a-dozen other manga/manhwa. Like Kidou, Hakuda is something I think gets underused in the manga in favour of magic weapons with the exception of a select few characters. These guys could also use The King's Seal from the ability thread but whilst it's used for physical attacks, it might be a bit too magic-y to fit my image of Murim.

Depends on which sort of martial arts sort of thing you go for. Breaker certainly is pretty grounded, most of the high level stuff baring maybe that steel skin dude was pretty low level all in all. Veritas on the other hand? The King's Seal could easily fit into that, they already have their own destructo disks and all that jazz going on. Not to mention elemental shenanigans in general, and that's even ignoring the mass produced side of it.

Name: Vlade

Category: Human/Hollow

Overview: The Vlade are a spiritual race living in the Material World who, like the Quincy, stem from Humans. They are almost comparable to Substitute Shinigami who are Humans gifted with the power of a Shinigami, only these are Humans with the power of a Hollow.

They originated centuries ago from what should have been an impossible existence; a Human who was born without a Chain of Fate. This Human, Vlad, was in the unique circumstance where he possessed both a Hollow’s soul and a living body. His humanity protected him from the worst aspects of being a Minus, but still left him with a violent nature and a hunger that gnawed at him day and night.

It was only when he fell in battle, closer to death than ever before, that he finally realised the source of hunger and thus he began to feast on the souls of the dying warriors around him before turning upon his enemies and then the ghosts of the battle’s victims. And as he gave into his deepest instinct, his body shifted and mutated to reflect his monstrous nature and revealing his true power. Vlad forsook his human existence without regret and accepted what he really was. He disguised himself as a man out of convenience and turned into a beast when needed, feeding on Human souls to sustain his existence beyond a natural lifespan. He eventually learned how to turn Humans into the same type of creature as himself whom he called the Vlade.

His new-born race spread across the world like a plague until they were culled by other spiritual races. Eventually they were believed to be extinct and all that was left of their legacy were the legends of Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies that they had spawned.

Ability: The main ability of the Vlade is shape shifting. Most of the time, they look exactly like other Humans due to them possessing living bodies and so could simply be mistaken for spiritual-aware people. But like Hollows, they possess a monstrous form that reflects the nature of their missing heart. However this is not a fixed state of being and a Vlade is capable of altering the shape and characteristics of their Hollow form to suit their needs. They don’t even need to transform fully and can instead maintain their Human shape whilst only changing specific body parts for combat.

Other than this, the Vlade can consume souls to increase or restore their energy, heal any injuries they’ve received and lengthen their longevity. Soul consumption can also serve to improve their shape shifting by allowing them to adopt larger, more dangerous bodies.

By completing eating the soul of a Human, the Vlade’s power infects the corpse and reanimates it. The undead corpse becomes a mindless beast with unnatural strength and speed that seek to eat the soul of anything around and response to the work of its maker. By almost-completely eating the soul of a Human, the Vlade’s power infects the remnant of the victim’s soul and restores it. Instead of a mindless beast, the victim undergoes a metamorphosis in mind and body which turns them into a Vlade themselves.

Vlad the Impaler + Marvel's Blade = Vlade. Imaginative, I know. I already did the "vampire origin" with Hollowmen but this one's more human-centric and covers all three fictional horror races. Plus, this is how I envision what Human/Hollow hybrid species should have been anyway.

I guess knowing that anomalies like Bach exist leaves it wide open for other potential situations to occur. Interesting twist on it at least though.

Interesting. It is similar but markedly different from what I wanted to do with "Abomination" type Familiars made by fusing the souls of the Living with Newly formed Hollows. They can only reproduce by infecting newborn souls, draining most of their reserves to do so, or "breeding" themselves, which requires them first to harvest a great deal of spiritual energy, roughly four times their maximum limit to use to "fertilize" any eggs or they die In Utero due to not having enough energy to fully develop. they can only breed with members of the same "race" the Abomination was formed from. So a "warg" can only breed with Wolves, and Human formed Abominations must breed with humans, this limit also applies to "infection".

So while they can "breed" if they escape their creators it is very expensive, explaining Cryptid's and various "legendary" creatures that fall into that category like Nessie who have been reported but would have been found if they had a sustainable breeding population.

Furthermore as an "artificial race" these Hollow Hybrids which have fused with human souls have an upper limit to their growth based on the strength of the Newborn Hollow and the Human Soul it fused with. Since they can't "devour" souls there growth is based on what a "living" thing can do and can't make big jumps like Hollows can by evolving.

It's as good as I could get for an explanation in universe for Cryptids as a general category. And animal types being easier to control and "shape" as they form on an Animal's soul without the influence of a human psyche means that a Witch can create different subsets based on a general theme.

Okay I will admit it this is partially an excuse to have Chad fight a bunch of "Chupacabra" created by a Witch.
