Thursday in February

Gregg has invited me over for one of his grand ideas again. To be honest, I am not very thrilled about going because I have been kind of angry at Gregg for the way he has been acting. He thinks just because we are in middle school now he is hot stuff and can treat his friends disrespectfully. Well let me tell you something, he is wrong.

Anyway, I decided that even though I could be spending my time doing more important things, like my homework or playing video games, I would go over and write comics with Gregg. Who knows, maybe we'll get them published in the school newspaper and for once Gregg will be proud of something I did.

Gregg said he wants the comics to be about some dumb saying “ZOO-WEE-MAMA” and when I first heard him say it, I wanted to laugh. However, I decided to go along with the idea because maybe for once one of Gregg’s dumb ideas would pay off.

When we first started writing the comics, he only let me draw the boxes, so I decided that I was going to make my own comics that were much better than the ones that he was creating. Gregg went and did his own separate comics and we turned them in SEPARATELY.

Friday

Today in school I heard the news that Gregg’s comic was picked to be in the school newspaper but let me tell you when I got my hands on a copy of it, it was the worst thing I have ever read. It was all about some math equation and going to see Mr. Humphrey if you want to learn more about math. What a nerd. Gregg is trying to be all popular but I just don’t see him getting any higher on the scale.

I am considering finding a new friend group because I think Gregg might be lowering my popularity and although I do not really care that much about it, he hasn’t really been a true friend either.

Wednesday in March

Gregg and I have been doing a really fun Patrol job together for the past couple of weeks and this morning we met where we usually do to get hot chocolate before the day begins. However, today in the middle of enjoying my nice warm cup of hot chocolate, I got called down to the Principal’s office. For what? I have no idea. This should be great.

I get to the Principal’s office and they tell me that my badge is being suspended because I was terrorizing the kids last week at work while I was walking them home. I think I already know that Gregg had something to do with this, but I will not jump to conclusions. I apologized to the Principal and the children for what had happened.

I am going to get down to the bottom of this if it is the last thing I do. Time to play detective Rowley. For now though, I will play the good guy and bring back my good name.

Thursday

My detective job didn’t have to last very long and I ended up with being right about my suspicions. Gregg told me today that he was the one who was terrorizing the kids that day but someone thought it was me because he was wearing my jacket. That is the last time that I lend my jacket to Gregg and the last time I hang out with someone who always seems to get me into trouble. We were supposed to hang out after school but I told him I was going to take a nap. Jokes on him because I am not actually going to nap I am going to go hang out with my new pal, Collin.

Friday

Collin and I have amazing plans for this weekend. We convinced my dad to take us to the midnight release of the newest video game called Need For Speed. It is another racing game that I love playing, Gregg was never into those kinds of games, but my new buddy Collin is.

Later, once we got back from the release my dad said it was too late to take Collin home and so he got to spend the night with us. We decided to stay up all night making matching t-shirts and playing our new video game. We said we would wear the shirts to school on Monday to represent the starting of a great new friendship.

Monday

Today I marched straight into Mr. Winksy’s Office (our Principal) and told him the truth about what happened with the terrorizing of the little children. He apologized for falsely accusing me and gave me a promotion. He said I was now Captain of the Patrol team. I was really excited but I was also kind of nervous for what would happen to Gregg. I know I have been angry and the actions he has been displaying lately haven’t been the greatest but I still don’t want him to lose his badge like I did.

Gregg did get into a lot of trouble and he did lose his badge. I feel kind of bad but his actions are the reason why he is in the position that he is in now. However, on the plus side Collin and I wore our matching shirts and many people complimented us on how creative they were.

Tuesday in June

I think things are going really well for Gregg and I. I have been eating lunch with my new pal and he seems like he is really hitting it off with Fregley. I thought that he didn’t really like Fregley but as long as Gregg is happy, that is all that matters.

Other good news that I have witnessed today was that one of my comics that I created on my own got published in the newspaper at school. It looks like Gregg and I both got a chance at fame afterall.

However, the end of the day ended up being the worst time in my entire life. Gregg tugged on my shoulder when I was on the way to my bus and when I turned around he started yelling about how I stole his comic idea and he should get partial credit for the comic that was printed in the newspaper today. I started yelling back at him because he already had his shot at fame and now he is trying to steal mine. Plus, I wrote that comic all by myself and with my own ideas other than his dumb saying “ZOO-WEE-MAMA.” Lots of other students overheard the argument and started crowding us. I have never been in a fight before so I started to get nervous and shaky, plus I didn’t really want to fight Gregg, he just wasn’t worth fighting.

I got out of the fight, however I am not sure that Gregg is ever going to talk to me again. I picked up the Cheese off of the playground that was sitting there for a while and threw it at him. Now everyone thinks Gregg has the Cheese touch and won’t get anywhere near him. I thought about apologizing but I don’t really want to until he apologizes for everything that he did to me as well.

Oh and throwing the cheese at Gregg actually won me Class Clown in the back of the yearbook. I guess throwing the cheese at someone is the best joke that can ever be played and allows you to win the competition for Class Clown. A lot of people are starting to talk to me at school now before that never used to. I guess I got my rise to fame, but I don’t really want it, after all, I have the only true friend I need, Collin.

I guess what you can take away from all of this is be true to yourself and everything else will just fall into place. Also remember to choose your friends wisely because some may hurt you while others will be there to pick you up when you are down.

Have a wonderful summer everyone and I will see you next year.

Goodbye for now.
