Different Blood

Chapter 1: The Wedding
Ranma, Akane, Genma, Mousse, Shampoo, and Ryouga had returned from Jusendo just two days ago and the fathers had hatched this plan for a wedding for Ranma and Akane. Nabiki had swiftly sent out the invitations and arranged for the catering and a priest while Nodoka and Kasumi took care of the decorations. The fathers were in charge of ambushing Ranma and putting him into a tuxedo. Akane had called her friends Yuka and Sayuri to be her brideÆs maids and to help her into her wedding dress.
In the mean time Nabiki had a few other things to take care of, such as insurance for the wedding, and
arranging for Dr. Tofu and other emergency services to be standing by, after all this was bound to end badly. The caterers showed up with the food and Nabiki was proud at how cheaply she had gotten Ukyo and Shampoo to provide the food, she just hoped that Mousse and Konatsu could keep them from causing trouble.
When Ranma woke up dressed in a white tuxedo and found out about the wedding he went upstairs and confronted Akane in her wedding dress and found out that she was forcing herself to go through with this, and warned him about backing out of it. At this point Genma finds out about the Nanniichuan and tries to make off with it just in time for Ryouga to burst through the wall and see the cask of Nanniichuan and alert Mousse to the cure for their curses and for Ranma to overhear. Ranma rushes down the stairs and is ambushed by Ukyo and Shampoo with their explosive food.
The mayhem continues with the addition of Tatewaki and Kodachi Kuno coming to steal the bride and groom respectively and Happosai snatching the Nanniichuan from the four Jusenkyo cursed males thinking it to be saki, after drinking the water the Grandmaster is assaulted by the four trying to get him to regurgitate the cursed water.
Ranma was having difficulty avoiding both Kunos, but had missed stepping into a fire bucket of water earlier, and so was still a guy, and as such still being attacked by Tatewaki with a real katana and was unable to help hold Happosai down, so Mousse used many lengths of his trademark chains to contain the pervert, but because of his bad eyesight he mistook the cask for the freak and Happosai tossed in a few fuse-bombs when he called out ôHappo-Daikaren!ö, he also tossed out a few others.
Upon hearing Happosai call out his explosive attack most people dived for whatever cover they could find, unfortunately Ranma was distracted by Kuno trying to kill him with a katana, and Kodachi was working her way around to protect Ranma from her brother, and so they didnÆt avoid the blast of shrapnel from the chain-wrapped cask.
Tatewaki was shielding from the blast by Ranma, and managed to score a hit on RanmaÆs ribs during the explosion, of course this brought him into reach of Ranma, who trapped his wrists and twisted disarming Kuno then throwing him from the Dojo as the secondary explosions from the catered food started.
In the aftermath of this Dr. Tofu has a triage set up out in the yard, tending to the various injuries, the most serious is Ranma with a sword wound to his side and several pieces of chain shrapnel in his back and thus when he asks for peoples blood types they run across a quandary: Ranma has blood type B+, Genma is O-, Nodoka is A-, Tatewaki is B+, Kodacki is A-, and all the Tendos are A+.
This means that only Genma and Tatewaki are able to give blood for Ranma, and Nodoka is able to give blood to Kodacki who didnÆt avoid the shrapnel from the blast. Other less obvious conclusions are reached by Dr. Tofu, Nabiki, and Kasumi, the first is that Ranma is not the son of Genma and Nodoka, and Kodachi probably isnÆt TatewakiÆs sister.
Dr. Tofu had both Ranma and Kodachi moved onto futon in the guest room after they were bandaged and transfused. Both of them were sleeping quietly while there was a meeting going on downstairs.
Dr. Tofu had asked Tatewaki to call his father and have him come over, but wouldnÆt explain why beyond having him there for Kodachi.
Once everyone involved (The Amazons, Tendos, Saotomes, Kunos, Ukyo, Konatsu, Happosai, and Ryouga) was settled down Dr. Tofu started his explanation.
ôFirst, the good news. Both Ranma and Kodachi are doing fine, I was able to remove all the shrapnel and we had blood donors here to replace most of the blood they lost.ö Dr. Tofu explained. ôBut I noticed some ... irregularities with their blood types. After checking the their files I noticed some strange coincidences. But first, Mr. Kuno, what is your blood type?ö
ôDa Big Kahuna be O-, da universal donor. I be sure to give blood real regular too.ö
ôAh yes, thatÆs very good of you.ö Dr. Tofu says straightening his glasses. ôSo then your wife must have had B+ blood the same as your sonÆs, correct?ö
ôThatÆd be right.ö
ôWell then, do you have any explanation for the fact that KodachiÆs blood type is A-?ö
ôUh, is that a problem?ö Asks the man who cultivates a tree on his head in confusion.
Nabiki and Kasumi both start at this point.
Dr. Tofu just shakes his head sadly and replies. ôWeÆll get back to that.ö Then he turns and addresses Nodoka. ôMrs. Saotome, I also ran into a similar problem with RanmaÆs blood type. You have type A- and Mr. SaotomeÆs type is O-, but RanmaÆs blood is B+.ö
Nabiki goes slightly pale upon hearing this.
Akane, however is tired of sitting still and angrily asks. ôWhatÆs the pervertÆs blood type got to do with anything!?ö
Cologne decides to field this question. ôWell girl, if you had paid attention in your Health classes, you might know about genetics, and that this proves that Ranma isnÆt the son of Nodoka and Genma, the same as Kodachi isnÆt the daughter of Kuno-san and his late wife.ö
ôYes, exactly.ö Tofu adds. ôThere is also the fact that Ranma and Kodachi have the same Birthday. In fact, they were born within minutes of each other in the same hospital.ö

#Shnick# ôGenma dearest, is it possible that you swapped my child for a boy?ö Nodoka growls out at the cowering martial artist as she begins to draw her katana.
#Shing!# ôIs it possible that Kodachi is my beautiful daughter?ö She asks as the blade clears the scabbard.
#Whoosh# ôDid you leave my baby to be raised in a Den of Insanity?!ö She screams as she stops her blade just short of cutting into her husbands neck.
ôB-b-but n-n-No-chan. They were a well respected, rich, noble family. They werenÆt at all strange at the time.ö Genma replies, groveling at the feet of his wife.
ôHmph! Well alright then, there is only one thing to be done at this point.ö Nodoka says turning to face Principal Kuno. ôKuno-sama, the details we talked about concerning Ranma and Kodachi are completely acceptable. We should draw up the paper work immediately and arrange another ceremony as soon as possible.ö
ôOf- of course!ö The Hawaiian Otaku answers. ôThis will make my little wahini Kodachi so happy!ö The Don Ho wannabe yells as be brings out his ukelele and starts to dance a jig in happiness.
ôNo,ö The Saotome Matriarch whispers to herself smiling, ôit will make my daughter very happy however.ö
ôBut the schools must be joined!ö Soun yells causing Nodoka to glare at him.
ôSoun, Genma, we need to speak outside.ö Nodoka replies while sheathing the Saotome Honor Blade.
Soun, Genma, and Nodoka gathered outside out of hearing of the group inside.
ôAlright Tendo-kun,ö Nodoka starts out, ôyou must understand that me and Genma have no say over who Ranma marries at this point.ö
ôBut you just set Ranma up with Kodachi.ö The Tendo Patriarch protests.
Nodoka looks at Genma as if to ask æIs he always this slow?Æ
ôUh, Tendo-kun. ThatÆs not what she did.ö Genma tells his old friend and training partner. ôShe arranged for Kodachi to marry Ranma.ö
ôAnd a very good deal I made too!ö Nodoka crows in triumph. ôWith the KunoÆs providing the dowery to us! And having Ranma take the Saotome name!ö
Genma grins in avarice as he hears this and beams with pride at his wife.
Soun just looks clueless.
ôLook Tendo-kun, I donÆt think any of your daughters are interested in marrying Kodachi.ö Genma explains. ôSo there isnÆt any way to join the schools this generation.ö
ôBut if it is any consolation I understand that RanmaÆs elder brother has been courting Akane.ö Nodoka adds. ôIf they were to marry that would bring the clans closer, as well as increasing the fortunes of the Tendo clan.ö
ôBut, since when has Ranma had a brother?ö Soun asks in confusion.
Nodoka looks at Genma again telling him with her eyes that his friend is really slow. ôWell, I just found out about it myself, but I imagine that Genma has known for quite some time.ö
ôDonÆt worry Tendo-kun, we can make the arrangements for you if youÆre interested.ö Genma offers to his friend.
ôUh well, if you involve Nabiki in making the arrangements that should be fine.ö Soun waffles in indecision.
Genma and Nodoka exchange a look of avarice with each other and say in unison. ôThat will be fine.ö and chuckle.
Did some research on blood types and genotypes. I found out that I couldn't give Kodachi a blood type that would prove her to be not related to Tatewaki, but I was able to get one prove that Ranma wasn't Nodoka and Genma's son.
The problem came in the genotypes for the blood types.
A = AA or AO
B = BB or BO
AB = AB
O = OO
+ = ++ or +-
- = --
Thus A-(AA-- or AO--) and O- (OO--) cannot produce a B blood type or a + RH factor, but Takewaki B+ and Kodachi A- could have the same parents if they were A+(AO+-) and B+(BO+-), these parents could actually have children with any of the possible blood types.
Gets confusing doesn't it?
I'll just have to add later that Principal Kuno has O- type blood, and then Kodachi and Tatewaki can't be related.
Now as for NodokaÆs OOC behavior, well we have always wondered how a classy lady like her could have ended up with Genma, and my answer for this story is that she is a Grifter, a con-woman and both her and Genma were working cons on each other when they got married with Nodoka being pregnant and trying to marry into money that Genma didnÆt actually have. Of course her family didnÆt have the money that Genma was trying to marry either, so they hatched to plan to marry their child to a Tendo daughter to acquire a well known dojo and several large properties in Tokyo.
