Harry Potter Different Life for Harry

Don't know why i came up with this. Probably not the only one to, but here goes:

What if Petunia had complications with Dudley, had to have emergency surgery, and there was no Dudley? What would happen when Harry is placed on their doorstep? What if one of HarryÆs first bursts of accidental magic healed Petunia so she could have kids again (one doctor slipped)? What if a girl was born? And what if the DursleysÆ daughter liked Harry as a brother?

Just don't expect me to write it if you like it. I suck at story-writing.

Seems a bit to coincidental. I can see the complications with Dudley's birth, and Petunia not being able to have kids. I can even see a female Dursley born a year or so younger than Harry liking Harry as her brother (though that begs the question of whether this child would resemble Marge Dursley). Its the curing of Petunia's injury that seems a bit out there. You could probably write it, but it seems a very big peice of magic (unless you have Harry a bit older, like seven or eight when he heals Petunia, then I could buy it).

It's all up to the author.

My thought was that Harry would be treated well without Dudley, so there wouldn't be any need for a lot of early accidental magic. But, knowing he wouldn't have any younger 'siblings' would depress him and that would cause the burst.

It not actually the reason behind the bursts that made it a bit implausable. Apart from Harry's apparation accident (when he warped to the top of the roof), and later the inflation of Aunt Marge, the rest seemed to be very simple. I don't think that even Harry wanting 'younger siblings' would allow his magic to repair a complex injury in Petunia. More to the point I don't think he would have the power until he was about 7-8 at the least. However that is just me.

I've heard worse reasons for accidental magic, not that your reason is a bad one. It's just that I've been lead to believe that a strong enough desire causes the magic to occur. And I think depression is a very powerful state of emotion.

Oh if he was depressed enough, it would occur. I just can't see it restoring Petunia. It might make it 'better', or do more damage. I just can't see it completly healing her. That would be a high level operation for a medic-mage like Madame Promphy or another magical doctor.

Forget the acidental magic. Dudley is still born, Dursleys are still morning when fifteen months later Harry is left on their dore step, they see him as a replacment for their own son, several months later, after they have become atached to Harry, Petunia is Pregnent again and gives birth to a girl. Maby after the miscarige the doctors told the Durselys that the chances of another Baby are small, they could even consider Harry as some goodlook charm, atributing this mirical to his magic when in actual fact it was just chance. This could lead to them acepting magic more and even to them telling Harry about it when he is yunger.

If Petunia got pregnent around when Harry left with them, begining of October, they find out few weeks/months later (sorry not to clear on pregnaces) then atribute it to Harrys magic. Their daughter is born in the summer and is two years yunger than Harry, which could lead to an interesting twist if she is magical, and she dosn't have to take after Vernen, she could look like Petunias sister Lily - Harrys mother which could be a reason that Harry is so protective of her.

Going recently through the "Ideas" section I stumbled upon this and it reminded me of one of the best fics I read. "MASTERMIND HUNTING" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2428341/1/) is a massive AU!fic one chapter until FIN. 39 chapters and 586,880 words! While it may seem now clicheed, it was started on 6-8-05, and back then, some things that now are dust were brand new. I understand that the reason the author does not end it is because too many endings would spoil a rather good fic.
