Tk chuckled as he shook his head "Smartass" Tk said to Ryan before looking around wondering where his partner is.

"Monodramon...where are you?"

"Over here Tk! I'm making new friends! Come and meet them!" Monodramon said happily waving his arm hoping Tk will come and meet them.

Smiling softly he heads over to his partner watching the other humans either standing around or talking with the various digimon.

'I wonder...if that ONE troopmon was there...how many more could really be here? What are they doing here? ....Who's commanding it?' Tk thought stopping to think more about this. Looking around and noticing Sho was the closest person nearby, Tk quickly stepped over to him.

"Hey...Sho-san, I'm wondering somethin'...Why was that Troopmon at the station? What do you think it was doing there?"

Shin looked around his current location. Much like the rest of the area this place looked like it had seen far better days. Around the area he saw more creatures like the one called Monodramon, These creatures came in all shapes and sizes (though most were fairly small.)

Deciding to examine his D-Synchro again he cycled through the various options. Certain options (like the partner sight view) only yielded static while things like the synchro rate bar were at zero percent. He briefly stopped on the mod option but decided to mess with that later on. He had found and was fooling with the holographic keyboard when one of the creatures this one somewhat rabbit like with pink fur and purple stripes walked toward him. If he had to guess this particular monster was female.

When it got closer he noticed that I had a yellow moon on the front of its body that was partially covered by a medal with a symbol of the moon held in place by ribbons that were of a brighter shade of pink then its own fur.

While he was contemplating this the creature had reached him. The first thing he noticed at this point was that it was short maybe two and half feet. While he was pondering this it spoke in a voice that was obviously female.

ôHi my name is Lunamon.ö A little shocked that it was speaking to him it took Shin a moment to respond.

ôHello my name is Shinö not knowing what else to say he stuck to introductions. Lunamon then started talking again.

ôWhere are you guys fromö as she said this she looked at him with eyes that just made him want to hug her.

Shin gave this a few moments thought before responding.

ôWell I canÆt speak for the rest of them but I am from city called Tokyo in a country called Japan.ö

She continued to ask him questions of all sort, this questioning continued for several minutes before she finally stopped and said.

ôThank you for answering my questions Shin you have been very informativeö as she said this she put one of her paws forward.

Shin recognizing the cue took her paw and shook it while saying.

ôAny time happy to helpö

Anything either one of them would say was cut off when ShinÆs d-synchro started to beep and flash before it spoke.

PARTNER DIGIMON SELECTED, CONGRATULATIONS.

The first words that came to mind were ôWell Shitö.

Sho turned his head towards TK when he started speaking to him.

"Troopmon? Oh, he means that purple thing Monodramon defeated."

"Hmm, I can't say for sure, but judging by how...weak it was, I don't think it was sent to attack," replied Sho.

"Well, weak in comparison to the Digimon I've seen on the show at least. To be defeated by a Child-level so easily."

"I'm guessing it was sent there as a scout. Whether it stumbled upon us by accident or whether it was sent to the train station specifically, I can't say. Since Monodramon defeated it though, I don't we'll have to worry.. about... " Sho trailed off as he realized something.

"Wait! Something's off, when Digimon are killed on the show, didn't they-"

"Say Monodramon, when Digimon are killed, don't they burst into data?"

"Hrmm....." Monodramon said as he thought about that question "Well...normally...they do, but...that Troopmon...didn't. It just burst into that weird gas thing and left its armor behind....How odd."

"...That's right...the Digimon on the show usually went into data bits, but...that Troopmon didn't." Tk said as he thought about this. "...I wonder what it could mean...What do you think Sho-san?"

"First of all, stop using 'san' to address me, I'm pretty sure you're older than me. Just call me Sho," said Sho as he looked... up towards TK's face.

"As for the Troopmon, it's probably still alive." Sho tilted his head to the side as he continued. "...it makes sense now that I think about it. A weak scout like Troopmon should have fled at the first sign of a fight in order to report back to whoever's commanding it. But if it can abandon it's body like that, then..."

Sho sighed.

"I guess whoever sent that Troopmon knows we were there, but then again, it's not like we were being subtle," finished Sho as he looked towards the bus.

"...right right...habit of mine...I'll more then likely call the other's that, but yeah...We're not being subtle. That bus will more then likely catch their attention, then just that Troopmon." Tk said as he stared at the bus "But..it's all we have at the moment...It's better then nothing."

Sighing softly Tk watched the other humans around.

"So...How's the rescue plan coming guys?"

Looking at the world through her partnerÆs eyes via the D-Synchro, Suzuka frowned heavily, marring her pretty face.

ôNothingÆs happeningàI donÆt like this.ö

Things were working too wellàit was too quiet. Where was the disappointing attempt at rescuing the Digimon her troops had captured? Where was the heroic Adult hopelessly trying to protect the Children?

On top of that, unknown white dots unnaturally disappearing from her radaràit was tooùthere!

ôCoredramon, fly just a little bit lower, but stay over the buildings, and turn back over where you just flew.ö

Even as her partner did as told, and her eyes focused on what she thought she had seen, her mind was reevaluating her current actions and developing a new course.

There! It was not her imagination!

ôFly high and get back here, Coredramon, now.ö

öYe-Yes, Suzuka-sama!ö

Then, she imparted orders to her troops.

ôEveryone, weÆre pulling out!ö she commanded, glancing for a moment at the Dark Gate she had already prepared. ôBring what you have, and do it on the double! Minotaurmon Claw, cover our retreat from the back! Submission Squad, I want you here right now! The other Claws, move, move, move!ö

After switching her D-SynchroÆs display to the radar to verify her orders were being followed properly, Suzuka sighed deeply. Dobermon looked at her, wordlessly inquiring about the sudden change of pace. The girl stared attentively at the holographic screen, processing her latest discovery and evaluating all the possibilities that came from it.

Skid marks.

ôàinteresting. Oh, what a thoroughly fascinating development.ö

'Interesting.' Ryan thought

'One would think that more of the others would partner up with a digimon. It would give a tactical advantage to us. Heh.'

Ryan fiddles with the Device

'If this thing works the way I think it does. I'm going to hold off until we get attacked. One less enemy is always good.'

Ryan turns on the scan feature and looks around at the digimon with it.

'Might as well learn what I'm working with.'

The Scan feature is static-y and doesn't work.

'How the hell am I supposed to know what to do.' Kaji kept his thoughts to himself before the other boy, TK, seemingly brushed off the fact that his question was ignored as he went off after his partner past the large group of black metallic beetles. It was an apt question though, food was going to be a serious issue, and with the puddles of black goo and ruined landscape it was going to be scarce, particularly since the creatures around them didn't seem edible.

Though ultimately if their designated driver refused to share what little they did have, between both Kaji and the hothead they could easily force the issue, weird force fields or no. And when push came to shove if a few more of the others could grab a partner...

The black metal glinted with the little light that filtered in from the few holes in the roof of the building they'd hidden in. It didn't seem particularly special otherwise, but if it negated their being tracked it clearly would have uses. 'Then again if it negates our ability to see them that could easily cause all sorts of issues.'

Slowly the boy's arm clasped the metal piece between his fingers, before he found it snatched away by the strange wolf like creature.

"Sorry, but I'd prefer if you didn't mess with this." It said, before replacing it on the ground.

"What is it?" Kaji asked. He briefly entertained the thought of sitting on the ground to settle his nerves from the bus ride, but the thought of the other two still out there kept him upright. They couldn't stay long.

"Obsidian Digizoid." It said, before giving a brief laugh at the face Kaji made at the name. "I came across it a long time ago, and kept it with me since. Came in handy once the attacks started coming, I learned rather fast that I couldn't be detected by those guys as long as I had it on me."

'Lovely, we're not the only ones with these then.' Kaji glanced at the still static sonar screen, before taking a look around at the others. The biggest of the monsters seemed to settle around in an area about twenty feet around the piece of metal, while the smaller ones seemed to move about more freely. Saishi and Shin seemed to have attracted the attention of two of the more unique creatures among the group, while Ryan seemed to prefer being near his bus as a handful of metal capped fuzzy creatures and a dozen or so metal mice swarmed around it. TK and Sho had gone off into a discussion with the partnered Monodramon off near a set of pink blobs with wings, while the ever assaulted Hachi was receiving the rather innocent attention of some of the weird floating slimes that seemed to enjoy snuggling up against her, along with the bigger pink blobs with long antenna like ears that were nudging her legs.

The boy noted it as first time he'd seen her not get assaulted by something, though given the stare the lone partly hatched chick carrying a sword was giving her, that probably wouldn't last long. His gaze drifted to a few of the numerous floating slimes flitting about the area through the four giant bees hovering above them. After a moment he suddenly noticing they seemed to drift throughout the whole area of the building with no rhyme or reason. "Isn't that dangerous? What happens if they drift outside the range of that metal?"

"Poyomon are babies." The purple wolf said, before clarifying. "Since they don't have a lot of power their presence is small enough that even up close your digivices won't detect them. They aren't good for fights, but it makes spying a hell of a lot easier, particularly since they're so small and partly see-through."

"Don't they have names?" The cosplayer suddenly pipped in, between another one snuggling against her cheek, still blissfully unaware of the sharp look she was being given from behind. "Or are they all just called Poyomon?"

In response to her comment, all the creatures around here seemed to turn and stare at her as if she said the strangest thing in the world. Particularly disconcerting was the wide eyed stares of the small brown eyebrowed baby birds, which caused the poor girl to shrink back in herself.

"They don't need to." The wolf spoke up again, settling itself on a rock next to the black metal. "If you call out to one they'll know."

'That doesn't begin to make sense.' Kaji thought. Hachi looked a little unsure, before calling out to one.

"Poyomon?" She asked tentatively. The one floating near her head seemed to jiggle with delight before snuggling against her again.

Intrigued, Kaji spoke. "Poyomon." Two of the little slimes floating around jerked to a stop above the several red mammals with feathery tails. Both glanced at him for a moment, before frowning and floating away from his sharp glance. Kaji ignored it. "Okay, I guess they can tell then."

TK and Sho seemed intrigued by the sudden revelation as they made their way back with Monodramon past the collection of weird red penguins waddling around them. Both Saishu and Shin steadily moved past the idle group of strange looking clawed birds with green wings the wide eyed babies seemed to flock around, heading for Ryan and the bus while noticeably followed entirely too closely by two of the monsters. "More partners then...?" Kaji muttered to himself.

"You'll each probably want to get one soon, you won't survive long without them." The creature spoke up. The boy glanced at him, suddenly realizing the wolf thing looked agitated, steadily gripping his claws tightly and tapping against the rock with his foot. 'Waiting for something? I guess that's why we're all just standing around then.'

The creature glanced at him, suddenly becoming aware of the stare. "I didn't mean me by the way."

Kaji blinked, confused, before he ran over the conversation in his head again. "Not interested honestly." He responded.

The purple wolf grinned as it flexed its claws again. "You sure? I'm pretty strong."

"So? You've got your hands full with these guys." Kaji gestured to the assortment of creatures surrounding them. "I don't need that kind of partner."

"Ho." The wolf said, mockingly. "Then what kind of partner do you need?"

"Someone useful." He said, not missing a beat.

The purple creature's eyes narrowed, but before he could say anything, handful of yet more of the Poyomon suddenly filtered in from one of the holes in the roof of the building.

"Strabimon! Coredramon was just out there, but he suddenly turned around and left!" They said, flitting about worriedly.

The purple wolf, Strabimon, let out an annoyed glare. "Which one was it?" he asked immediately.

"Blue!" They responded.

A strangled growl escaped him as picked up the black metal from the ground before turning to groups surrounding him. "It's her, change of plans. We've got to head them off before they get to the docks." He turned to address the group of Poyomon directly. "Go and tell the other group we don't need them to send us the message anymore. Since Coredramon went back she's probably focusing on getting out fast."

"What's going on?" Saishu started as the Poyomon group left, before the Strabimon turned to Ryan instead.

"We're probably going to need this thing to get there quicker. Falcomon are fast and the Kokuwamon and the Funbeemon can at least fly, but Elecmon and Muchomon won't get there before they cross the bridge." The purple wolf let out a groan. "This is why I wanted to force a confrontation on the docks, but if it's her she'd focus on getting the captured there first before attempting to overwhelm us."

Ryan gave a quick thumbs up, despite clearly not understanding all of what he meant. "All aboard then."

"Good." The wolf replied, before turning to the collected group again. "Falcomon, go ahead of us. Hit and run, try to scatter them away from the captured group. Avoid direct confrontations with any of the adults she brought along, and try to make sure they don't cross the bridge. Especially avoid direct contact with Coredramon. We won't be far behind." Once he finished, the half dozen or so clawed birds sudden bolted off far more than their frames gave them credit for.

"All other child levels get on, you humans too if you're up to it." Strabimon gave a quick look over TK and Monodramon, before turning his gaze over to Saishu and Shin. Finally his eyes ended on their new partners. "Though you three especially have to come. Right now you're our trump cards."

The group of roughly 20 filed into the bus quickly as Strabimon went over his last orders. "You lot will be fine as is. You should be able to be detected till you hit child, so make sure to stay safe." He gave a small smile as the last of the group entered the bus, followed by the group of humans.

"We'll be back as soon as we can." He said, gripping the black metal tightly before finally entering himself as Ryan closed the door and they set off.

~*~

"Wait, so what's going on" Saishu repeated, pushing his new partner aside a bit into the pile of Elecmon crammed next to them.

"The group that was captured earlier were taken by one of the Dark Chosen."

Kaji suddenly perked up, pushing aside one of the giant bees which decided to float right in front of his face. "The who?"

"A bunch of humans with partners like you, only they've been the ones behind wrecking the place." Strabimon covered his ears as Saishu's partner gave a yell of righteous fury before the little chick continued for him.

"They're made up of ten members after the great sins." He said darkly, gripping the hilt of his sword awkwardly behind the eggshell that still remained on his lower half. "The one who was partnered to the blue Coredramon was given the aspect of Greed."

"I thought there was seven sin-"

"That's irrelevant." Strabimon continued. "What matters here is that while Greed isn't the strongest of the Dark Chosen, she's smart. She'll see the Falcomon we sent ahead coming and will be prepared for it. We need to get in fast and make sure she doesn't get the captured group into the docks."

"What's so important about the docks?"

"The transportation the Dark Chosen use can't take much beyond digimon directly under their control just anywhere. To corrupt them they have to get the to the docks to take them directly." One of the Funbeemon chimed in. "That's the only reason we've managed to figure why they don't just take those they've captured away with them the moment they caught them." It said, a hint of sadness in its voice.

"Basically if we manage to get them to escape before they get there, we win." Strabimon continued. "Unfortunately Greed's going to be entirely aware of that and is fully prepared to keep that from happening. The Falcomon I sent ahead should be fast enough to buy us a few moments so long as they aren't led into a direct fight, but if she sends her partner things could get ugly real fast."

The chick, Hyokomon, gave a small grimace at the comment. The purple wolf gave the small creature a quick pat. "Knowing her she might keep her partner skyward to see us coming though. So long as we get there fast it won't matter either way, we only really need to hold them off for a few minutes. From what the Poyomon reported before you guys showed up, she has Four adults supporting her, which normally would be an issue but with the Elecmon supporting the Kokuwamon we have a good chance of being able pull it off."

He turned to the three partnered tamers before giving a soft grin. "And of course with you three we might even be able to defeat her."

"What about the other two we saw on the scanners though?" Shin asked.

Strabimon turned to him. "You'll be able to see as soon as we arrive. I'll be first out, the Muchomon will cover me as the Elecmon and Kokuwamon start our main offensive, while the Falcomon hopefully take care of the captured. Once I'm clear, your digivices should work normally."

He paused a moment, before turning to each of them with a serious expression. "If things go sour, no matter what, do not engage in direct combat with Greed. Focus on escaping in this thing." Strabimon said, staring at each of them in turn. "I can't allow any of you to die here, no matter what."

Kaji grimaced slightly. 'So death is pretty likely then.'

"Sorry to interrupt the stirring pep talk, but we've got the enemy forces at 12 o' clock." Ryan suddenly pipped up from the front.

"Get ready, stick to the plan!" Stabimon yelled as he scanned the window. The quick flashes of green told him the Falcomon were still alive, at least for now. "Can this thing go any faster." He asked Ryan.

"Possibly, but I'm not sure if I can-"

"Do it."

When the bus came flying off the edge of an overturned building and sailing over the squad of PawnChessmon, it was only natural that it rammed so hard into the group of Hagurumon that two of them were deleted before they even hit the ground.

The careening bus managed to force itself to stop a few moments later, just barely keeping from tipping over as the remaining four it the ground hard. The door to the bus opened before they could even bother to struggle themselves upright, leaving them with barely even a chance to blink before the attacks came.

"Licht Nagel!"

"Gear Stinger!"

With the sudden combined assault from the five attacks, another two of the gear like creatures burst into data.

"Move! Stick to the plan, let's head them off." The Strabimon yelled back to the rest of the group of digimon now filing out of the bus as he jumped into the fray.

I had selected another mod on the way.

"Speed, Activate." I casually clicked the button.

"CoroKnuckle!" The flaming blur shot past me.

English? Did he Echo just now? How the hell?

Fuck this. I popped my Headphones on and hit shuffle.

The sound of a guitar.... Wait isn't this Masaaki Endoh's remix of that one Amerkaijin song?

"THEY'VE GOT, A POWER TO-!"

Yup, well just my good luck then.

Coronamon had slammed into the last two of those floating gear things, his fists doing a pretty good impression of Fist of The North Star, only on fire.

"ATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA!" He shouted like an idiot as he punched pretty much everything like some kind of gatling gun, but with punches instead of bullet's.

As he slid past them, standing with his right fist outstretched they exploded into particle's.

My D-Synchro, or 'Holy Device', beeped, and shook.

I looked at it.

STRENGTHEN PARTNER? Y/N

... Duh.

I moved to the Y and clicked.

The little bits of dust started moving towards Coronamon as he turned to find another target, he wasn't going super fast any more so Speed mod must have worn off, I noticed the bits of the two other gear thing's that died from the bus flow over here as well.

He ignored the dust flowing into him as he turned and braced him self for what looked like a sprint.

"Puchi Prominence!" He burst into flames and shot forward, he turned slightly when a stream of red flames hit him, some weird black furry thing had fired it, the red flames didn't get past the Coronamon's blaze, which seemed to act like some kind of shield, Coronamon zoomed up to it and slammed his clawed hand into it's stomach, he actually lifted it up with one arm while it burst into flames.

"ARAAAAAAA!" He screamed as he dug his claws into it's chest.

It burst into dust like the others had, and those specks started flowing straight into him.

"NO ONE, CAN EVER TAKE THEM DOWN!"

Well, if nothing else, he doesn't suck at FIGHTING at least.

Wait shouldn't I be doing something?

My eyes widened.

Shit!

I turned and gunned it for the dock, from what I'd seen, Coronamon would be fine on his own.

As I ran, a new circular window opened on my Device, next to the map, the two windows floated next to each other as the mapped quickly cleared.

Judging by the flaming hands, this was what Coronamon was seeing, and I could hear through his ears.

Okay, at least with this I'll know if something bad happens while I'm gone.

Tk and Monodramon quickly through the street trying to get to the docks as quick as they could following Saishu

Taking a look at the Digivice in his hand peering at the map that was shown, Tk saw how far they were from the docks.

"Damn...It's still gonna be about another 5-6 minutes till the docks...I wonder what we'll find at there." Tk muttered to himself as he looked forward again.

Monodramon suddenly stopped and stiffenend, his eyes going slitted while baring his fangs.

"What's up Monodramon?" Tk asked as he stopped just beyond Monodramon as he gripped his Digivice gently in his hands.

"Enemy....I smell them..." Monodramon said as he adjusted his arm slightly, the wing glowing black.

"Let's becareful here Monodramon..." Tk said cautiously as he pushed the button on his Digivice flipping through the screen till he came up to the Mod section. Tk had selected the three mods earlier.

Stepping forth in 3 lines of four across, the Black Pawnchessmon readied their spears.

"Pawn Lightning!" 4 Black Pawnchessmon yelled as lightning shot out of the tip of their spears making their way to Monodramon.

Monodramon dodged out of the way of the attack, but he failed to notice how the front line of Black Pawnchessmon broke into 2 groups and charged Monodramon while the second line of 4 Black Pawnchessmon held their Spear steady.

"Pawn Spear!" yelled the first group of 4 Black Pawnchessmon as they thrust their spear into Monodramon, each of the 4 spears hitting Monodramon.

"Pawn Lightning!" yelled the second line of Black Pawnchessmon as they too shot lightning out of their spear, this time hitting Monodramon as well.

"AARRGGH!!!" Monodramon yelled in pain as he fell to the ground, the energy stored in his wings disappating. Shaking lightly, Monodramon got to his feet.

"I...won't...back down...HERE!!!" Monodramon roared as he charged forward raising his claws into the air and slashing into the nearest Black PawnChessmon. "Beat Knuckle!"

The attack sent one of the PawnChessmon flying back into one of the Pawnchessmon standing in line, knocking them out simultainuously.

"Great Job Monodramon!" Tk said as he looked at the screen noticing "Strength Mod" was highlighted. "...Guess now is a better time then any to test these things out. Strength Mod...activate!"

Pushing the button on the Digivice, Tk saw that Monodramon was glowing with a white aura.

"Burst Shadow Wing!" Monodramon said as he flung his arm out sending a wave of black energy hitting all the surrounding PawnChessmon and slamming them into the wall, a few of them quickly bursting into data.

Few of the PawnChessmon got back and readied themselves.

"Pawn Buckler!/Pawn Lightning/PawnSpear!" yelled the Pawnchessmon as they either shot lightning from their spear, threw its' shield, or charged forward with their spear.

Monodramon charged forward dodging the spears and shields while barely avoiding the lightning.

"Crack Bite!" Monodramon said as he quickly chomped down on the head of the few PawnChessmon he could get to before being smacked by a flying shield.

"Grr..." Monodramon said as he once again charged energy in his wing. "Burst Shadow Wing!"

This time, the Digimon that were standing couldn't stand the enhanced version of the attack, and quickly burst into data.

Panting Monodramon stood still looking around counting how many PawnChessmon were left.

"3...4...5.." Monodramon panted as he took a head count. "This...will be tough..."

ôàwait. How does that work?ö

That was SuzukaÆs comment on the sudden disappearance of two-thirds of her Submission Squad.

ôHow did they manage to hit the faster, closest unit without coming into any of the other Claws beforehand? What did I even setup a perimeter with the Green Claw, then? I mean, sure theyÆre invisible to the radar, butàare they invisible to ordinary senses as well? Did they dig a tunnel underground faster than my troops can move on flat land? Can they make portals like mine? Are Hagurumon really that weak, in the first placeùoh, well, apparently, they are,ö she concluded, as the remains of her Submission Squad were eliminated as well...and so did two entire Claws for that matter.

She looked up at the looming figure of Coredramon, who also watched the moving dots on the D-SynchroÆs holographic screen over SuzukaÆs shoulder.

ôSo,ö she began. ôI have an unknown but most likely considerable number of enemies, with radar-jamming capabilities and somehow able to reach deep into my lines unnoticed. It sounds almost unfair, doesnÆt it?ö she chuckled. ôItÆs like somebody out there really wants me to lose.ö

For a moment she glanced at the first group which had attacked her units before the invisible squadron, but quickly dismissed them. Whatever those were, they were pretty much hers. She had to give credit to her undetectable enemies, sacrificing their own like that to maximize the effectiveness of their subsequent assault.

ôOh well,ö she shrugged. ôWhen have things ever been easy for me? Besides, if itÆs for the sake of enjoyment, this amount of handicap is acceptable to Matsushita Suzuka. What do you think, Coredramon?ö

Regardless of the loss of her Hagurumon, she had already given the retreat orders some time before the attack. Her units were already organized to make their escape and, furthermore, the preparation for this operation also included instructions on what to do in case of encountering resistance beyond that of the Digimon to be captured.

ôàshouldàshould I goà?ö the blue dragon offered.

ôHmmàö Suzuka mused while she hastily typed on the holographic keyboard. ôàno. The Claws know what they have to do. Besides, weÆre about 75% done here; we can pretty much wrap this up as a victory for me.ö

She looked to her left, at the ominous violet portal floating idly over the grey sand. The Hagurumon-controlled Digimon which made it to the docks were immediately delivered to the fortress, where they would be contained by the rest of her troops for the time being.

ôDo you know why they lost today, Coredramon?ö

SuzukaÆs partner knew the human girl well enough by now to know she did not really expect an answer.

ôFirst, their desire to rescue their friends is weaker than my desire to add them to my army. Therefore, I have made the greater effort and will thus reap the greater reward.ö

Coredramon nodded. It was true that his Tamer had spent most of the last three days planning this operation and ensuring her troops understood her instructions to the letter.

ôAnd second, wellàö she paused to send the finished message to Kyouya. ôTheyÆve wrongly assumed I meant to capture every single Digimon in this region.ö

She quickly tuned her Digivice to communicate with her troops.

ôAlright, everyone, weÆre switching to Evacuation Procedure C!ö she announced with the same voice she used to greet her fans at the beginning of her concerts. ôWe donÆt have to guard anything anymore, so just focus on your retreat~ö

ôBlue Claw Three, split accordingly; Claw Two, deal with the ones that showed up first and retreat while providing cover fire; Green Claw, I donÆt know how those guys got past youùdonÆt screw up again! I want three defensive lines between the enemy and the portal! Green Claw, Claw Two, Claw Three; in that order! Minotaurmon, why are you not in the middle of that melee!?ö

While the loss of her Hagurumon was painful, it was not a heavy setback. They were just so convenient to have aroundà

ôMah, I guess I can get more where those six came from.ö

ôSuzuka-samaàö Coredramon suddenly spoke. ôWhat about Kyouya-samaà?ö

The girl shrugged. ôSent him a message. As long as he does what heÆs supposed to, I donÆt care if he jumps into the fray or whatever.ö

Looking down at the radar, she noticed another group of formerly-dominated Digimon was soon to arriveàas well as a single tiny white dot.

ôIÆm not the rival character that shows up as early as episode two, so weÆll be leaving soon, guys~ö she merrily declared, patting DobermonÆs head for good measure. ôNow, I have a little bit of a problemàö

Next to the radar image, a second holographic projection appeared, displaying a column of text titled ôPrisoner ~Reverse Side~ö.

ôI need words that rhyme with æfeetÆ. Dobermon? Any ideas?ö

The giant Doberman only raised an eyebrow.

Then, a group of three Armadimon and a Commandramon stepped into the docks after running away from the sounds of combat in the ruined city, only to stop in frozen horror when they came upon sight of Suzuka and her guard.

ôOh, lovely! Even without being controlled, they still come to me.ö

She smiled at her two Adult-level companions.

ôBeat them quickly so we can go home and rest, okay? Kyouya can stick around and play if he wants.ö

The four pitiful Digimon only had time to flinch and take a step back before Coredramon and Dobermon mercilessly lunged at them. It did not take them fifteen seconds to throw the four smaller Digimon into the Dark Gate.

No matter who made it to the docks with her retreating troops, they would only find an eerie violet portal, floating teasingly by the waterÆs edge.

***********************

Even before SuzukaÆs message arrived, the troops were reacting as they had been taught in case of unexpected attack.

Before Strabimon or any of the Digimon jumping off the bus could chase after the gear-shaped Digimon, the first group of three KoKabuterimon stood in between. The perimeter of PawnChessmon the bus had avoided was closing in on the newcomers as fast as they couldùwhich was admittedly not that fast, them being Heavy Infantry and everythingùand would eventually reach the rescue group from behind.

It was at that time when the identical shrieks of several Falcomon filled the air, all of them struck down by Petit Fire from about twice as many Black Gabumon. Type advantage did its thing, and those who did not break apart immediately were ripped into loose data by the over-eager Gabumon. Right after that, they moved according to the Evacuation orders, firing Petit Fire shots into the melee while rapidly retreating, confident the KoKabuterimon and, further ahead, the PawnChessmon, would cover their retreat.

This was especially important because, with all six Hagurumon dead, the Darkness Gears attached to the victimized DigimonÆs bodies had become nothing more than very uncomfortable ornaments.

Minotaurmon roared in the distance.

Gluttony sits in a chair monitoring the battle between the two groups.

"I have to send some reinforcements to Greed or Pride will have my head, but Pride never said I have to send anything higher then Child."

Gluttony smiles and calls out to his partner.

"Send out the nearby Do and Kune squads with a few Betamon. That reminds me, has that one Betamon evolved yet? No? Oh well. Maybe this will push him over the edge data wise."

Gluttony types out a message to Suzuka.

'Sent reinforcements. Try not to get them deleted.' -Gluttony.

Ryan watches the battle.

'Gear things taken care of. Need to go to the docks. Supposed to be a rescue and the only ones that are going that way are those two guys and one of them doesn't have his partner.'

Ryan follows a few of those metal beetle things as they go towards the docks.

As the bus made its way towards the rescue area, Shin looked down at his digivice. Earlier he had noticed an option called mods but he had decided to come back to it later. Afterwards he had gotten distracted with Lunamon and shortly thereafter had been shepherded back on to the bus leading him to his current situation. Deciding that he may not have a chance to do so later he looked through the list.

A quick examination brought to light that there were no descriptions for the mods indicating that he was flying blind. Not really being sure what else to do Shin picked 3 of them at random, When all was said and done he had picked Alias, Speed and Purify, not really knowing what the others did he was fine with the choices he had made.

After that Shin talked with Lunamon trying to get to know her better briefly stopping to ask about the other two humans. It was shortly after this that the bus ramped off of an overturned building causing his life to flash before his eyes (it was black and white and in English)

After the bus landed and he had gotten the cobwebs out of his head Shin and Lunamon exited the bus with the others, as they looked around they heard the sounds of battle and Shin at least felt lost as to what to do. In the end the decision was taken out of his hands as LunamonÆs fur began to bristle and she started running towards one of what he assumed was an enemy digimon, not knowing what else to do Shin started running behind her.

As they ran towards the digimon that Lunamon had started running at he grabbed his digivice unbidden the screen started glowing for a second before bringing up a picture and description of the Digimon they were running at.

ôTroopmon- Adult level: An artificial Digimon manufactured by stuffing energy stolen from other Digimon within a special rubber body. As it is a machine-like Digimon that can only perform as commanded, it is absolutely incapable of spontaneous behavior. It doesn't get fatigued, it doesn't feel pain, it doesn't fear death, and it doesn't need to sleep. It is absolutely a fighting machine.ö

Shin looked up from the picture to the genuine article and noticed that the picture version didnÆt have that scary looking gun, a gun that it leveled at him and Lunamon a gun that it started firing that both of them just barely managed to avoid by hiding behind some fallen debris. In a flash Lunamon was up again and with a cry of ôTear Shootö formed a ball of water on her the curly antenna that it launched at the Troopmon hitting it with enough force to crack concrete but barely affecting it at all. Any second try was cut off as the Troopmon started firing again peppering the area with more gun fire. For several minutes the battle went like this Lunamon being just fast enough to avoid the gun fire but with her water attack not having enough force to do any damage.
It was during a lull in the battle when Lunamon and Shin were hiding behind a fallen piece of building That Shin said ôThis is getting us nowhere, we are just not doing any damage to that thing. We need something that can pierce his skinö Then he slapped his head as he remembered something he should have remembered much earlier than this. Turning to Lunamon he said ôLunamon on the bus ride here you mentioned that one of you attacks was Lunar Claw right?ö Lunamon nodded and Shin continued ôDo you think that it could possibly pierce that things skin? Lunamon thought about it for a second before saying ôIt might but IÆm not fast enough to get inside its guard.ö Shin thought about that for a moment before remembering the mods he had picked earlier, if he was right about how they worked then they might be able to beat this thing.

Flipping open his digivice he moved to the mod section and clicked on the speed mod on the screen it said ôSPEED UP PARTNER? Y/Nö Looking at Lunamon he said ôDonÆt worry I will deal with the speed issueö At this point he pushed the button that would signal yes, Shin watched as some kind of dust like energy floated from his digivice to Lunamon causing her to vibrate on contact. Believe that this was evidence of the mod being active he said ôGOö

Like a blur Lunamon raced forward causing the Troopmon to level its weapon at her, Shin watched as instead of dodging to the side as she had done before Lunamon started zigzagging keeping ahead of the gun fire as she moved forward, Then when it finally got inside the beast guard she cried LUNAR CLAW as she ran past it causing a gash to appear on its thigh releasing more energy dust she wasnÆt finished yet. As it tried to turn around Lunamon jumped on it and started hitting it with several lunar claws causing more gashes to appear on its body with each progressive hit.

Finally Lunamon stopped vibrating and she jumped of it. As the immediate danger had passed Shin joined Lunamon in front of the creature as more and more energy escaped from its body. Shin sincerely wished he had a pair of sunglasses as he said ôI guess all he was was gust in the wind.ö Before he and Lunamon moved on to see if they could be of assistance.

Dear Gluttony-san,

While your kind intentions are much appreciated, I fail to see the logic in sending additional troops considering my immediate objectives were all but achieved. This is particularly mind-boggling considering you have dispatched these troops after I have left the location. I hope that is not much of an issue, and I offer my heartfelt apologies for whatever inconvenience this might cause you.

Of course, I do not worry for the safety of your unitsùcoming from a skilled and intelligent colleague such as yourself, I unhesitatingly assume they are both well trained and possessing of an available escape route in case unforeseen and insurmountable circumstances conspire against them. It might thus feel redundant, but please allow me to point out that, if he actually listened to his mistressÆ orders, Shiro-chan should have set up a second Dark Gate in the coordinates I attach to the end of this message.

I look forward to a chance to work together towards our common ambitions.

Kind regards and best wishes,

EveryoneÆs favorite idol, Matsushita Suzuka.
(Heart mark)

P.S. Excuse me rudeness, Gluttony-san, but I would greatly recommend working on your sense of timing.

P.S.S. With all due respect, do I really have to address you by that name? ItÆs not the most flattering one, you know? It actually feels weird to type ità

To Suzuka,

I had sent the squads due to orders from Pride. To reinforce your squads and test the new group of chosen. On your note the Beta, Do, and Kune squads are well equipped to escape from the Fallen city.

If you wish you may call me Samuel.

-Samuel

P.S. According to the Monitors, he hasn't quite got around to that just yet.

Gluttony sends the message to Suzuka.

Gluttony watches the scenes in the monitors play out and wonders what game Pride is playing with them.

Surely but slowly, Kyo was making his way to the target area where he was to set up another Dark Gate. He had figured that an escape plan was already being executed smoothly, thanks to that Idol Lady since she LOVES planning so much.

So why create another Dark Gate? A backup? Honestly, he could easily see it turning against him if an enemy discovers it and stumbles upon the 'home' that he was currently staying at.

Speaking of enemies...

Coredramon, respond.

What is it?

How's it looking out there?

Fairly hectic but I got plenty of room to get away in case things get a bit too hairy.

Kyouya managed a light chuckle. You run away?

I had my fill for today. No point in overstuffing myself and standing out too much.

He couldn't argue with that logic. Speaking of hectic, did you see anything out of the ordinary during the battle?

I picked up a foreign scent. They were humans. Just like you and that girl.

Try and get some info on them. I want to know them inside out so that we can pull off a perfect victory when we cross paths. But don't stick around if you think it's too risky.

He felt a snort come from his partner. Hmph! I ain't no fraidy Tailmon.

If anything, Coredramon should be able to do well by himself. He's a speedy runner on the ground and has good senses that should be able to pick up information on the enemy. Particularly, what type of D-Synchro they have or if they have something similar.

As soon as the boy arrived at the designated area, he took out his black D-Synchro.

'Let's get this show on the road.'

"Dark Gate Open!"

RUN FASTER DAMN ME!

We had taken to long as it is with all the pointless paranoia, no matter what, I had to get there in time.

"CAPTURE NET!/PALSY THREAD!" I had learned, from what I had seen so far what to do when I heard someone screaming english jibberish.

I turned my run into a baseball slide, a veritable swarm of white sticky balls flew over where I would have been if I hadn't ducked.

The big white wad on the wall was shooting off sparks.

Did not want to get hit with that, I looked down the fork in the street the blast of goo had come from.

There was an infestation of huge ass green and yellow caterpillars.

"Fuck!" Okay, I'm gonna need something to swat these with...

"Worm Venom!" some of the green ones spit some kind of purple spit at me, I dodged and moved into the shattered building to my right.

Look... What do we have to work with... There, that will work.

I grabbed a discarded wooden plank, it had moss growing on it and it was covered in dirt and dust, but it seemed sturdy enough, it would do.

Some of the yellow worms crawled through the hole I had ran through.

One of them spotted me, it somehow launched itself into the air towards me like a freaking head crab.

"POISON RI-!" I interrupted it, by bashing it out of the air.

I moved the swing into a follow up and started bashing away at the bloated bugs before they could do anything.

As I knocked out the last of them, I heard the rest of them chattering outside.

If they were near the wall, then...

I checked the large window, it was to filth encrusted to see through, honestly I was surprised it was still intact considering the hole in the wall.

I did a quick check... Nothing.

They must be waiting... They don't seem very smart so...

I decided, I took the hunk of wood in my hand and bashed out the large window, before jumping through.

Bad idea.

"PALSY THREAD/WORM VENOM!" they were waiting for me, and they were on the outside of the wall, the street, and even hanging from what was left of the broken street sign.

The damnedest thing happened, all the attacks, the balls of sparking goo and the squirt's of purple ooze, all slammed into a weird invisible bubble thing and fell to the ground harmlessly.

The bugs gawked like idiots as I brought the lumber down on them.

It hit one of the green ones so hard a piece of the end broke off.

Okay, they're all in one big bunch, don't let them get a word in, I don't know if I can count on that weird bubble thing to happen again.

Monodramon panted as he clenched his fist as 2 more Black PawnChessmon dashed forward again, their spears held forward.

"Pawn Spear!" yelled the 2 Black PawnChessmon as they struck Monodramon each from the side.

"AARRGGH!! Crack Bite!" Monodramon roared as he bit down on the nearest of the 2 Black PawnChessmon causing it to burst into data quickly enough before he turned to the second one and swung it's fist into the other Black PawnChessmon's face. "Beat Knuckle!"

Turning towards the last 3 Black PawnChessmon standing behind him, Monodramon jumped into the air once more gathering energy into his wing before releasing it into the group that had gathered.

"Burst Shadow Wing!" Monodramon said as the arc of energy slammed into the group knocking one into the wall, while the other 2 were instantly dispersed into data bits.

Monodramon landed on the ground panting from exertion staring at the last PawnChessmon that laid against the wall.

"Great job Monodramon! You totally kicked their asses!" Tk said happily as he quickly headed towards his partner. "Let's get this last one!"

"Right...." Monodramon trailed off as he saw the Black PawnChessmon running off into a nearby alley. "I'm gonna chase after him Tk!"

"No...Let him go Monodramon....We don't know this place well enough...We could easily be ambushed here." Tk said as he thought of what to do next. "Let's get going back to the group up ahead...They could probably use some help."

"I understand...Let's go Tk!" Monodramon said as he and Tk took off to help the group.

"Death March!" a voice yelled as gun fire was shot towards the two, just barely missing the two. "Hault!"

Tk and Monodramon quickly turned towards the alleyway where the gunfire came from. Their eyes shot open as they saw a black rubber suit carrying a gun in one hand came walking out from the alley.

"Another Troopmon, Monodramon..." Tk said as he gripped the digivice in his hand. "Let's take care of him quickly, like the last one."

"Yeah...This guy is no match for us." Monodramon said with a slight grin on his face.

"...I shall not lose this time." Troopmon said as he raised his gun up once more. "Death March!"

Hachi was about to follow everyone else as they exited the bus when she noticed one of those strange creatures still sitting in their seats.

"Um, guys," She said to get their attention but was ignored. The others quickly seperating into groups.

Hachi looked back at the creature and zipped up her jacket once again in preparation. Crossing her arms to protect her small chest while also recieving the benefit of not looking like she was about to burst into tears as she walked towards one of these "digimon".

Luckily for Hachi this one wasn't as weird as the others. Not as cute as Shin's rabbit one of course. Hachi would have probably mistaken it for a regular dog if it wasn't for its bright pink ears, tail and pink markings on its face.

"Hello." She said.

ôHello,ö It repeated with a surprisingly feminine voice and laid itself down on one of the seats.

Hachi, felt a sense of relief to know this one was female. She uncrossed her arms, ôWhatÆs your name?ö

The dog on the other hand seemed bored. She turned her head away, remaning silent.

Hachi blinked, not really sure how to react. ôShouldnÆt we leave the bus?ö

ôYou Go. I Stay,ö The dog said simply, closing its eyes. ôThis is comfortable.ö

ôBut itÆs not safe.ö

ôSafer here, then-ö

The pink dog was cut off as one of the windows broke. A flying digimon shaped like a flower entered the bus spitting seeds from its mouth.

ôWell IÆm out of here,ö With that the pink dog bursting with new energy, ran through HachiÆs open legs and into the battlefield.

Hachi frowned at the cowardly dog before the flower digimon continued its barrage. With a sharp cry, she quickly ran after the dog.

Tk quickly ran to the left ducking behind some nearby crates, while Monodramon ran to the right dodging the hail of gun fire from Troopmon.

"Do it Monodramon!" Tk said as he peeked over the crates trying to assess the situation.

"Right!" Monodramon said as he charged forward again, the strength mod still active.

"Death March!" The Troopmon said as he turned his gun towards Monodramon once again firing again and again.

Monodramon continued to dodge as much as he could, but eventually, his luck ran out and was hit with several bullets, sending him to the ground.

"Monodramon!" Tk said as he stood up worried for his partner's safety. Tk hadn't noticed the screen growing brighter and brighter as he held it in his hand.

"Die! Death March" Troopmon roared as he turned towards Tk firing his gun at him.

Tk quickly dashed forward grabbing Monodramon and trying to pull him away, but unfortunately for Tk, luck wouldn't have any of that at the moment.

"Death March!"

Tk gasped as he was pushed away. Monodramon had taken the hit for him.

Beep Beep!

Tk quickly looked down at his Digivice that had given off the sound. Tk noticed a strange message had appeared on the screen of his Digivice. It was a simple two lines of words.

"Synchro...Digivolution? Start Up?" Tk said soflty as he stared at the screen. "...If this'll help Monodramon....then let's do it. Synchro Digivolution!"

Tk quickly pressed the button on his Digivice, and holding it outwards towards his partner, the screen grew brighter and brighter eventually forcing Tk to close his eyes, but what Tk didn't notice was that his partner was growing brighter as well.

"What's....going on?" Troopmon said as he looked away from the bright light.

<a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1T3oGUHwU0' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>"Monodramon....Digivolve to...."</a>

Monodramon flew through the air as 3 <a href='http://th04.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2011/011/e/7/resource__synchro_rings_by_slifertheskydragon-d36zhem.png' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>green rings</a> lined up evenly spaced apart. As Monodramon flew through the first ring, the top layer of skin was stripped away revealing DigiCode before coming to rest above the second ring, a beam of green energy shot through the three rings and Monodramon's DigiCode, the Digicode quickly changed and rearranged, forming into its new body.

The green rings quickly shattered as the new layer of skin formed atop, revealing a new metal body forming around the chest and arms as well as revealing new metal wings growing out of his back, his tail and neck extending, a metal face plate appearing on his face.

"Raptordramon!" he roared to the wind.

Ryan watched the bugs take down one of the buildings to block the way for the troops that the other side was fielding.

Well, looks like I'm not going back that way

A bright light catches his attention from nearby. That Dinosaur boy's Dino had turned into a Bigger, wierder thing. Ryan held up the device and pushed scan.

Raptordramon - Partner Takeru Raitei
Adult level - Vaccine Type - Cyborg Type
A Cyborg Digimon who was modified and based on wild Digimon, it's predatory instincts ensure its chances of bringing down its prey. It has an obstinate ferocity and a strong body, which has been remodeled with Chrome Digizoid metal that gives it a solid amount of weight, inhibiting its athletic abilities. However, its unduly high amounts of flying ability can also grant it instantaneous power, which it didn't have before it transformed as it was a Digimon that largely lived in the wild. Even if it is cornered by very large Digimon with only a small area to provide it escape, it bears the capacity to bring down the enemies in a single blow. Specialty: "Charge Crash", which initiates a sharp assault utilizing its body armor made from Chrome Digizoid metal. Its special attack is "Ambush Crunch", which jumps onto the enemy unawares and bites at their weak spots with its sharp teeth.
Certainly that's useful to know and not a complete waste of time to read.

Ryan spots a dark green frog thing walking about. On the Radar it comes out black.

This thought is censored for TV.

Ryan scans it for useful info.

Betamon
Child Level - Virus Type - Amphibian Type
An Amphibian Digimon who walks on four feet. It is an obedient Digimon with a gentle personality, but once Betamon becomes angered it will emit an electric current from its body that is over a million volts and strike the opponent by discharging it
Attacks
Electric Shock
Fin Cutter
Water Tower
It knows several types of attack, Water, Electic and physical. That's good. I can use that to my advantage. Betamon, I choose you

Ryan moves through the menus and clicks Purify. While this is happening Betamon attacks.

"WATER TOWER" calls out Betamon as he jumps towards those Metal Beetle guys. Deleting them in one shot and absorbing the data.

This thought is also censored for the good of the children.

Ryan smirks as he has an idea.

"Oy, Frogger come over here and fight like a frog thing."

The Amphibian digimon turns around in mid-air as Ryan punches.

"FALCON PAAAAWWNNNNCCHHH"

"Contract made. Partner accepted. Purify." says the device in his hand that begins glowing.

The digimon falls to the ground and lightens up in color some.

''I hope I chose well."

The Troopmon stood its ground even as Raptordramon roared in its face.

"It does not matter if you have evolved. I shall still win here. Death March!" Troopmon said as he fired off his gun again at Raptordramon, but all the bullets hit thin air and wall. "What? What just happend?"

"Blaze Blast!" Raptordramon roared as fire erupted shot forward enveloping the Troopmon, but the Troopmon quickly jumped out of the flames slightly singed, but still able to fight. Raising the gun once more Troopmon quickly shot off a few more rounds, but it was all for naught as once again Troopmon hit nothing but air and concrete.

Growling in anger, Troopmon dropped his gun and raises his hands up his fingers straight forward. "[U}Splendid Attack[/U]!" Fire spewed forth from his fingertips as Troopmon began to circle around the area trying to hit anything and anyone.

Raptordramon roared in pain as the fire hit him as he tried to protect Tk from the flames. "Get away Tk! I can handle him alone!"

"No way Raptordramon! We're partners...We stick through this thing thick or thin!" Tk said as he took the chance to move to a safer location.

Beep Beep Beep Beeeep...

Tk quickly looked down and saw a message on his Digivice.

"Huh? What do you mean the Strength mod timed out!? What the hell man?" Tk groaned as he quickly went back to the mods. "Dammit...right when I need it to work!"

"Charge Crash!" Raptordramon once again disappeared before ramming into the Troopmon forcing it into a daze.

Tk took the chance to pull out his Digivice and scan his partner. Reading the data, Tk tapped the world "Charge Crash" following it to a description of the attack.

"Hrm... "Charge Crash" initiates a sharp assault utilizing its body armor made from Chrome Digizoid metal. The faster it goes, the harder it hits...heh..." Tk smirked as he quickly ran back to his list of mods and moving down just one spot to the second mod, Speed. "Speed Mod! Activate!"

Pressing the button once more, Raptordramon glowed with a light blue aura surrounding him.

"Splendid Attack!" Fire shot forth once more, but this time....Raptordramon just...vanished.... "What? Where did he go?"

"Charge Crash!" This time, the Troopmon wouldn't be so lucky...The Speed Mod did its job as Raptordramon slashed, scratched, and ripped the black rubber suit to pieces releasing the yellow gas into the air once more.

"Way to go Raptordramon! You did it!" Tk said as he dashed forward and quickly grabbing and hugging Raptordramon around its neck. "Way to go buddy!"

Raptordramon roared happily into the sky as the gas slowly drifted away from the scene of the fight, but the one thing neither tamer or digimon noticed was the one lone Black PawnChessmon slinking away from the battle.

Labramon ran as fast as her legs would take her, doing her best to avoid other digimon. She turned around to see the strange human girl that was in the bus running determinedly after her. The Lalamon that was following them had become six. Labramon barked to the girl, "WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME!? GO DIE SOMEWHERE ELSE!"

The Girl widened her eyes and noticed the number of enemies had increased. She stared at Labramon with pleading eyes, "Help me!"

The Lalamon seemed to enjoy her screams and started to shoot just close enough to get her to let out another scream.

A stray bolt of lightning from one of the other digimon temporarily scattered the Lalamon. Labramon took it as a sign to gain even more distance and ran off into a particularly thick brush of trees.

"Wait! I'm stuck!"

Labramon turned back around and saw that the girl had continued to follow her. One of her ridiculously large red bows had become entangled in the branches. Her terrible excuse of jacket unzipped again and a black device fell out of its pocket. It bounced until it reached Labramon's feet.

Labramon stared at the girl. She was just terribly unlucky. Labramon sighed and walked back towards her to help her.

Unfortunately as she was walking towards her, the Lalamon had returned and circled her like a shark. They seemed to have become bored with their game and planned to finish the girl once and for all. The girl let out a gut-wrenching scream.

"NUT-"

"Retribark!"

The sound waves of Labramon's attack had instantly scattered the attacking Lalamon into data causing the other five scatter in fear.

The human girl continued to scream seemingly unaware that the threat was over. After several seconds she opened her eyes surprised she hadn't died. She looked down to see Labramon was at her feet holding the black device.

"Stupid girl," Labramon said, looking over any injuries. The girl had finally freed herself from the branch. "What's your name?"

The girl felt her ears, before yelling, "WHAT?! I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING!"

A feeling of irritation overcame her as she yelled,"WHAT'S YOUR NAME YOU STUPID GIRL?"

"NAME? IS THAT WHAT YOU SAID? MY NAME IS HOSHINO HACHI!"

Labramon felt a pounding headache start to form. She mumbled, "I should have just let you die."

"WHAT?"

The lone Pawnchessmon ran away. The rest of his unit was defeated. He had to report. That's what he told himself to forget how weak he was and cowardly. Weak, Alone, and now helpless as the Pawn falls into the darkness, literally as it trips into a blackish goo.

'Weak. Powerless. Coward. Liar. Fool.'

'Stop it.'

'You ran away from your unit to save your pathetic self.'

'I have to tell the boss about this.'

'Truly? Is that really what is happening little pawn? Or are just running to save your pathetic weak life from them?'

The Pawn grew angry at the taunting voice.

'I'm not weak. I'm not.'

'Show me then, go back and fight them. Show us that you aren't a pathetic weakling. Show us that you have worth, Pawn.'

With that the Pawn changed.

Darkness consumed the Pawnchessmon's form and from within that all consuming darkness emerged a Black Knight. Knightchessmon gallops away to challenge the one who defeated his unit. He'd show them he wasn't some weak pawn in the game. He would.
