Digimon Digimon Xros-Over

Simple thread for crossovers.

Pick a character from another series, any series, and think of what digimon would be best suited, in you opinion, to be their partner.

I'll go first...

Harry Potter and Darcmon.

I kinda think it fits for a warrior for Light to have an angel partner, plus her mega form in Gryphonmon, which sorta fits.

While the Chessmon series would at first make sense for Lelouch, I think there are others that more suit his style.

Duftmon of the Royal Knights is said to be their strategist, and skilled at uniting individuals with "different ideals of Justice". Plus he is an evolution of the Leomon line, and they really need to be thrown a bone given all the shit that get's piled on them.

Dracmon, and more importantly Grandracmon fit quite well, as he is implied to be the mastermind behind the "fall" of many Angel Species Digimon to the Dark Side. He also has Gorgon's Eye as an attack which "enslaves his opponents to the darkness within" in other words a a Mental Manipulation attack. And he can potentially evolve from Vamdemon(Myotismon), which given his sense of "style" Vamdemon would fit "Zero" quite well.

While I like the thought of Lelouch getting BlackGuilmon and ChaosDukemon, Dorumon actually fits him better given the crap he went through in X-Evolution as a being "discarded" by it's creator. Both are "unwanted existences" who would be killed if found (Charles did not give a damn if people lived or died due to the Ragnarok Connection, and Lelouch is implied to have a lot of enemies in Britannia due to his mother being a "commoner". Dorumon was a natural carrier of the X-Antibody which made the vast majority of Digimon loathe and fear his existence.)

Alphamon or Dorugoramon might make good partners for him, given their nature as "A Black Knight and the White Dragon" due to symbolism. The Black Knight is obvious, but the White Dragon could be linked to the story of Merlin and the Two Dragons. The Red one represented the Celts and became a symbol of King Arthur, while the White Dragon represented the Saxon's the "enemies" of Camelot and by extension Britannia which has gone to such lengths to link their country to the legend.

Finally Wizarmon seems like a good match for Lelouch, unfortunately their is no good "Magic Using" Ultimates that fit Lelouch.

As you can see I have been considering this for awhile.

There is also some stuff I brought up a few months back on Beast's lair when a Digimon/Fate crossover thread was established (it's dead now).

Shirou matches three Ultimate level Digimon quite well.

1. Gaioumon: dark armored Wargreymon subspecies styled after a samurai. He dual wields two curved blades, and can combine them into a bow to shoot arrows of light. I think it is obvious what the connection is here.
2. Ouryumon: Dual sword wielding, blade winged dragon that transforms into Alphamon's sword. Yeah he has the whole "body made of swords" thing covered there.
3. SlashAngemon: blade winged angel whose hands transform into very large swords. Comes nearly as close as Ouryumon in terms of "body of swords" in that he does not transform into a sword himself.

I was mostly looking at the symbolism of "what would their final forms represent to their partner?" and was going to work back from their on their lower level evolutions. Becuase let's face it there are a lot of different paths that can be taken to reach certain Ultimate level Digimon.

Hard to say on this topic in general. A lot of times with the mons, at least in the absolute best cases anyway, a partner team meshes best based on their individual personalities more than any sort of theming. For example, Masaru having an Agumon even with its own specific line, barring obviously the fire aspect seems like a terrible choice for him on theming alone. Something more akin to say Leomon who actually punches shit would in theory make more sense if Leomon wasn't freaking cursed bar V-Tamer. But personality wise his Agumon works well since he goes for the underling approach against a guy who can quite literally punch out gods.

Remove Agumon's personality and put it in something more punchy and you get something that's next to ideal for Masaru.

With other characters you need to think about what kind of character would best mesh with them. However this isn't about finding or giving them a mon with an identical personality to themselves, that's a terrible idea. You need to take the Soul Eater and Season 3 approach of complimentary by being distinct from each other. Let's them play off each other and grow a lot more.

Then factor in that any mon can have any personality in theory and that goes out the window. Meaning we're right back at the imprecise method of trying to determine based on theming.

And that's why when thinking about these things I generally start with "Ultimate Level, now let's work backwards". Keep in mind given how Digimon are effected by their partners emotions the Ultimate Level is an expression of both the human and Digimon's hopes, dreams, and ideals.

This is most evident in Tamers. Dukemon was born from Takato's idealism and desire to protect others, as well as fight alongside Guilmon in order to do so. Megidramon was born from hatred and the desire for revenge. Similarly the other two main Tamers Ultimate's reflect their growth as individuals.

Sakuyamon was born from Ruki's acceptance of Renamon, and indeed her own family and newfound friends. She had issues but she worked past them with the help of others. Ruki is no longer the angry little girl she once was. She is now a balanced individual, who while sarcastic at times still cares deeply for those who are a part of her life. As a Miko Sakuyamon can be seen to represent "balance" and acceptance of her life, and rejection of her former attitude of being alone, as it's position is about "communication" between the Kami and mankind as well as helping to calm angry spirits.

Saintgalgomon represents Jenrya's acknowledgement that yes sometime you do have to fight in order to protect what you care about. Wanting to avoid conflict is fine, bu when push comes to shove sometimes you have to stand up for your beliefs. Given that Saintgalgomon is literally a walking piece of artillery this is a stark contrast to Jenrya at the beginning of the series when he was afraid of hurting others.

As you can see these Digimon represent the growth as individuals. If you look at it from that angel, and get in your head were you want to take the story and the characters involved then you can get some idea of where you want them to end up, and as I said backtrack to see what lower level Digimon fit who you want to end up with.

Kidomaru (Naruto) with Dokunemon

Simple enough since Dokunemon only seems to digivolve into Dokugumon, but I think the ultimate form, Arukenimon, is the best suited. Known as cunning and ruthless and commanding the Dokugumon, it kinda makes sense.

Okay, a new one, which can go with one of two characters.

For either Naruto Uzumaki or Sasuke Uchiha would be...

A Salamon on the Blackgatomon path.

Now before you start chucking rotten veggies, hear me out (And forgive me if I mess something up, I'm working off Wikias right now).

Both boy started out normal and innocent (Salamon).

However, while they dealt with it in different ways, both faced hardships in their lives that altered who they were (Blackgatomon). For Sasuke, it was the loss of his family starting him on his quest for revenge. For Naruto, it was the anger and neglect of the village, even through the simple act of ignoring him completely, that allowed anger and bitterness to brew inside him, although as he suppressed it, hiding it even from himself.

All of this lead to their individual darkness overwhelming them (Ladydevimon). For Sasuke, it was his thirst for revenge leading him to betray all those who trusted him and cared for him, leading to the power of the cursed seal. For Naruto, it lead to him being unable to properly control his darker self, and therefore unable to control his own, or rather Kyuubi's, power.

Now you may ask why I chose Ladydevimon, well because unlike Devimon, their paths can fork here.

One of Ladydevimons two possible evolutions is Minervamon, then Mervamon. The first is a tempermental, shortsighted powerhouse who grows into a sorta-calm, but powerful and intelligent warrior. The other choice (Okay, it's a slide evolution to Angewomon, digivolve to Ophanimon, then another slide evolution, but it counts to me) is Lilithmon, a being of evil and darkness, selfish but powerful and dangerous, caring only for her own desires.

The former is obviously Naruto, especially with some of the similar personality and development, although for a moment, Yami Naruto, or maybe even Menma in the movie, could have forced it the other way and allowed the darkness to overwhelm him.

Sasuke is a bit different, the Minervamon form would signify his true change, his acceptance of his brother's sacrifice and the willingness to honor that, reuniting with his old friends to fight of the evil. However, at this point, it could also prove to be Lilithmon, Darkness having overwhelmed any chance of redemption and this recent change only being a deception before he Nazar Nails them in the back.

Well, do you still want to chuck those veggies?

Just remember there aren't fixed evolution lines in Digimon. Almost everything can become almost anything.

for Sasuke, I'd go with: Strabimon->Duskmon\Velgmon->ChaosDukemon(\Megidramon?)->Plutomon?
  1. Strabimon
A powerful Light Child-leve. I'd prefer something more reserved, but, whatever
  2. Duskmon
    Corrupted Darkness H-Hybrid.
H-Hybrids are usually Adult-level, but he's overpowered because the corruption. Perfect for Shippuden!Avenger!Sasuke
  3. Velgmon
For CS2!Sasuke. Overpowered B-Hybrid(which are usually on par with Perfects), Duskmon doesn't like to slide evolve in this form.
  4. ChaosDukemon
Mangekyō Sasuke. He wants to see the world BURN, but he's not a wild mad beast, though he might become one on occasion(Megidramon)
  5. Plutomon
Current Sasuke? Maybe Final!Sasuke. Plutmon is "Dark Greek God Punisher" to quote Aarik. Going for justice where light cannot reach.

For Naruto: Impmon->???->King Shoutmon->???->OmegaShoutmon->ShoutmonDX
  1. Impmon is Kid Naruto to a T:
Although it is a Digimon that loves mischief and malice, it never toadies to the strong, but stands up to them with a strong attitude. However, the truth is that it has a lonely side.
  2. No idea what Adult would reflect Early Shippuden Naruto
  3. Shoutmon's King form from Young Hunters is perfect for later Shippuden!Naruto, as he's grown and responsible but still the hot blooded knucklehead who's not going to abandon his friends
  4. No idea what Ultimate would reflect Naruto's Sage Mode
  5. OmegaShoutmon is Kyuubi Chakra Mode
  6. ShoutmonDX is Kurama Chakra Mode

There's no set path, at least not for most, but there are limits on what is available for some to digivolve to. I don't think Impmon becomes a Shoutmon on any path.

give them enough time\games and anything will become anything.
I don't think Impmon becomes a Shoutmon on any path.
The lack of ANY evolution path for Shoutmon(except Shoutmon super evolving in OmegaShoutmon) because of the Xros Wars setting doesn't help.

edit:
Shoutmon's just been confirmed as Level III(Child Level), Little Dragon type, Attribute Unknown, Nature Spirits.

which means we're likely to get all his forms(and possibly cards for all the main Xros Wars digimon) once the Premium Select File Vol.1 is out in September
