2,000 years.....how long was he on that planet?

Approximately 300 years passed between 11 sending Clara away from Christmas and her return. Of course, there's another time skip after this.

A series of short stories set during 11's time on Trenzalore has this synopsis:

As it had been foretold, the armies of the Universe gathered at Trenzalore. Only one thing stood between the planet and destruction – the Doctor. For nine hundred years, he defended the planet, and the tiny town of Christmas, against the forces that would destroy it.
So prior to this, the Doctor claims to be over 1200 (though he may have extra years he's forgotten/won't admit to.) Now he's over 2100.

I'll be honest, I don't like this. This basically means that the Doctor spent about as much time, if not more, as 11 than he did as all the other Doctors combined. And when you consider that there have been complaints about Moffat's respect for RTD's work, and recall certain dialogue like this little gem from the Bells of Saint John:

CLARA: What chapter are you on?
ARTIE: Ten.
CLARA: Eleven is the best. You'll cry your eyes out.

...yeah.

If it results in a darker turn like this scene....I'll forgive them.

Honestly this is still one of my favorite scenes of New who.

As someone who became a fan of DW with the Matt Smith era, I found these rather hilarious:

Huh. 7/12. I guess that makes me a slightly above average fan.

Damn it dude! I had to watch the whole thing to the end just to see what the sonic=flute thing was about. I hate both you and my curiosity. :headbanger:

Seriously though...please tell me that was intended as a parody

The chart is incomplete. There is an official, independent, BBC-acknowledged Doctor iteration in Marvel 616 universe(the main one).
Marvel cannot use him, of course-

I found it to be a pretty "meh" episode. Felt kind of disjointed, like it was trying to do too many things at once. No focus. All over the place. Too much of a focus on action. The plot wasn't a shade on "Eleventh Hour".

Still, it's early days. If it can pull in a tighter focus for future eps, then it might turn out okay.

I liked the episode. But then again, I do like Peter Capaldi.

Neat opening, and I liked the confused Dr. bit. And the ending... I liked how the Doc just told Clara "I'm not your boyfriend", and then admits he wasn't implying she thought he was.

But that accent... no offence to Peter Capaldi, but he needs to learn to fake a Scottish accent better. Quick, someone call Mel Gibson! /jk
