Dominic Deegan, Oracle For Hire has ended after 11 years of comics.

This is a well drawn comic, though some have considered the quality of the writing to drop when it transitioned from being a humor strip into being a serious fantasy series.

Dominic Deegan's problems began when the author tried adding depth to his characters.

Depth is all well and good... if you're good at it. I actually compared its slope with that of Naruto when it tried to do too much with what it had. Also, "everyone that Deegan knows is special and you should be impressed" wears down REALLY fast.

Have to admit, this part is why I gave up on Dominic Deegan. Once my bud showed me a comic update where Dom's dad, who had learned the orcish language in his younger days, but constantly screws up speaking it, reveals that he's actually quite fluent in orcish and purposely screws up translations because he thinks it's funny.

Also, I don't think I've forgiven Mokie for the Stonewater pun to this day, either.

I enjoyed the mix of humor and story. Past a certain point, if you're goign to feature the same characters, development becomes inevitable (for most of them, anyways.) You're goign to have people interested in the characters as characters, instead of just vessels for punchlines. How well this is done depends on the author, but I think he did a decent job of it.

Not an exceptional job, but he did pretty good, and the fact that there was still a decent amount of humor through the story alleviated some issues.

Dominic Deegan: not as good as it thinks, not as bad as it detractors say. I read up to current a few years back. I'll have to go and finish it off at some point but I've got no real drive to do it now
